It had been 10 years worth of preparation for the final battle. All across the radiation laden earth, the Devilman army had slowly yet surely gathered its numbers in the hundreds of thousands for this singular purpose, revenge. These were humans that had been possessed by demons, yet kept their humanity and souls while taking the demons powers. Akira Fudo, the leader of this Devilman army as well as its namesake, led the final charge against his former friend, Ryo. Ryo had betrayed Akira, and in doing so condemned all of humanity's last hope to save itself, the devilmen who had not lost their humanity.
In the final rally, Akira had called out to all. "We are not demons, but no longer are we truly human. Yet that same heart we all still posses is that of our human souls! It is this heart that fuels our rage in this final battle! The demons and their leader have taken everything from us! Our homes, our loved ones, and our very lives have been robbed of by Satan and his evil!"
Indeed it was true. Ryo had come to realize that he was the ancient Satan disguised as a mere human. After this revelation, Ryo had tried to force Akira to join him in destroying humanity by outing his demonic nature to the world. Only one person kept faith in Akira, his beloved Miki. Miki had been the one to light the darkness in Akira's heart, but now she was gone, destroyed by the madness and rioting that consumed all of their home. Akira had sworn revenge, with only sadness and hatred left to fill his heart. Akira's speech reached the hearts and souls of the devilman army. They roared with pride and camaraderie as their suffering had been put into words.
The Devilman himself lightly put a finger to his ear, bearing the final gift he had received from Miki, a simple set of earrings. She had originally given him one, saying it would protect him, that it was a "good luck charm". Well, it had gotten him this far, and now he bore the other that Miki had kept.
"We have all suffered together, and survived to this point. We have had to bear more sorrow than imaginable just to reach this final battle. I say this to you! The time for tears has passed, mine have been all dried up by the hellfire! Today we avenge all of our beloved, all of our suffering, all of our lives! Stand with me for the final Armageddon, the fire of humanity!"
A chorus of roars and shouts rose as far as Akira could see around him. Here was the last of humanity, and whatever the result, they would bring hell back to the demons.
Then they saw the light. The glimmering power of a bright white figure in the distance riding atop a golden dragon. This was Satan, a fallen angel bearing twelve large wings. Behind him were horrors of titanic scale. Armies of demons on the ground and in the air, and they were coming to destroy this last bastion of defiance.
Akira was the first to charge, roaring with a fury that was joined by the other devilmen. Together, the last of Humanity made its final charge. They knew the world was over, yet they fought on. They knew all was lost, yet they fought on. Because there was a chance, no matter how small, that they would win, they fought on. Claws and teeth and powers beyond any natural being classed on a massive scale. Monsters tore through monsters, raining blood upon the blackened earth. The battle soon spread as hundreds of thousands of further demons and devilmen joined the final battle. Akira and Ryo made contact through the chaos, coming to world shattering blows. Satan formed a massive spinning blade projectile that Akira barely dodged, which then split the moon in half. Akira brought down a punch with all his rage and struck Ryo, creating ear splitting shockwaves and forming a crater in the earth. Larger monsters, both demons and devilmen clashed and rent scars upon the already dead earth, shattering the crust and creating explosions that could be seen from space if any life did exist beyond. The entire earth was destroyed again in a torrent of blood and hatred.
…But it was not enough.
Soon, Akira, the Devilman, the mightiest of all humanity, lay defeated on the ground. The devilman army had taken it's revenge. All the demons had been finally defeated, though it had cost all of the devilmen their own lives. But the earth was beyond any saving, and Ryo stood proudly above the fallen devilman. Devilman had fought with everything he had, yet now his wings and tail were gone, his body was broken and bleeding, and Satan bore no damage whatsoever due to some arcane healing factor. Satan grabbed Devilman by the neck, taking him to the sky. "Look at what you did, Akira" Satan sneered arrogantly, "I asked you to join me, yet you spat in my face. And this is what happened! This is what happens to all that defies me!" Ryo sends shockwaves of pain through Akira's already weakened body, and his screams ring out across the earth.
"I was right all along, wasn't I?! Now it's only you and me!" Satan looked to Devilman for an answer, but Akira only looked into his eyes with a cold apathy. This…suprised Ryo for some odd reason. "What? Nothing to say? After all our history, all our battle, nothing?" Akira simply mutters, "I already told you. You're full of shit." And eyes him with a contempt that annoys Ryo. He had expected more, a final speech of some sort, or an admission of defeat. "Look what has become of you. You're army is decimated" he sends more painful surges into Akira as he continues, "You're powers have been bested!" Akira pants hard as Ryo stops the surge, the Devilman's body now singed and smoking. Akira groaned in pain, but went silent with rage as Ryo whispered a final taunt in his ear.
"I'm sure Miki is very proud of you."
Akira snapped forward at Ryo with fury that burned hotter than all of hell. He bore his teeth and sunk them into the psychotic angels collarbone, causing Ryo to shout in pain. The angel thrashed around in the red sky with his wings, but Akira would not just let this vengeance end. Akira felt a surge of energy fill his body, and it was coming from where his teeth actually managed to break Ryo's skin. Ryo was now in complete shock as Akira laughed through his continuing bite. Desperate to let this first pain of bleeding in over a hundred thousand years end, Satan unleashed all of his power into a single point-blank blast of light.
Reality itself shattered.
Akira's soul and body were consumed in a wave of raw energy, and disappeared from all sight and detection of Ryo. Gravity on the planet stopped working, and the earth now completely came apart. Ryo was blasted up and away into the void of the cosmos.
Now he was alone…
Ryo gazed out at the empty and cold cosmos around him, and found himself feeling…something. He felt dread. He felt confusion. Where had Akira gone? Was he still alive? Why was he so focused on having Akira around when just a moment ago he had fought to destroy him? "Akira? Where are you? Akira…?"
But there was no one left to answer.
Ryo felt his eyes welling up. What was this? Tears? But they froze onto his skin from the cold of space. Yet the tears still came. "Why am I…Crying? Why am I crying?!" Ryo melted down. "Akira…Akira. Please don't be gone. Where are you? Where are you!? AKIRA!"
But the stars would not answer him, and all Ryo could do was sob in the world he had destroyed, never again to see the one he had somehow loved yet forced away.
…
Akira found himself in a white void, flying around and past a flurry of shapes and colors. He had no knowledge of it at the time, but Devilman had been sent to the place between worlds, where the multiverse intersected with infinite others in pure chaos. He reached out to a blue shape, which was absorbed into his body and surrounded Akira in a flash of light.
"Gah!" Akira found himself "falling" towards a bright blue portal, and he felt something odd happen after crossing it's threshold. His ears suddenly felt very cold, as if his earrings had begun to draw energy from his body.
And then he was on the other side…falling from the sky of a new earth. An empty earth of white and water…
Aladar Caval:
Hello, anyone reading. This idea here came from a question posed by Dancecat25 as we were working on our newest chapter of "Miraculous Devilman". What if Akira and Chat Blanc met? Thus, here I am, writing a sort of "crossover linked to our main crossover by just a little bit" hope someone out there likes this, though having archived this somewhere others can see is good for me too. Probably gonna be two chapters after this. 'Til all are one!
