A: I'm heading to the hospital, one of the third years got shot and Kirishima recovered one of those quirk-cancelling bullets. I'm taking Rin to see if she can identify them from a field of eight.
Y: Wait… what?
Y: Are you saying more villains have this thing? Like it's in production? Like this is going to be a thing?
Y: Shit.
A: My thoughts as well. Either Rin's brother stole a test version, or the production ability increased.
Y: Alright, keep me updated. I'm at the station tonight.
.
.
.
A: We have a problem.
A: The results for the drug came back a match. And not only that, its lasting longer. The first one lasted almost 20 minutes from the time she called to when we were able to record her quirk returning. The second dose was at the beach, where she was reported at close to an hour. They're actively working to increase the limits.
Y: Shit. Are you sure?
Y: Wasn't that creepy luck doctor the creator? Maybe he just sold them a lesser dosage?
A: No, it's increasing. The time limit on Tamaki was clocked at almost six hours by recovery girl. They're trying to increase it and they're succeeding.
Y: Okay, but why?
Y: My god. Are they seriously creating a quirkless drug?
Y: Shouta, the effects of that… the reach of that…
A: I know.
Y: No, man, they'll pull us into civil war.
A: I know.
Y: How are you so calm?
A: I'm not, but Rin's already freaking out enough as it is, and acting on hysteria is illogical.
Y: Okay, okay, calm down, got it.
Y: It's not widespread yet though, right? So it's probably still in the testing stages? Maybe if we move fast enough, we can stop it?
A: That was Fat Gum's thought as well. He's getting together with Night Eye to decide on a plan. More than likely, we'll be pulled together in the next few days for a more formal meeting. I'm going to run some extra night patrols around the Mustafu / UA undersides in the meantime. There's usually a night market in some of the slums around this time of the month and I'll check with my contacts to see if I can find anything more on the drug.
Y: Alright, just be careful.
.
.
.
Y: Dude, you look terrible. Go take a nap and take the night off.
Y: Don't ignore me! When was the last time you ate a full meal?
.
.
.
Y: Shouta! What the fuck man. Rin is worried, stop being a grouch and take care of yourself!
A: I'm busy.
A: Do you know how many more thugs are roaming the street since All Might retired?
Y: A lot yeah, but you driving yourself to exhaustion isn't going to fix that
Y: Besides, you sure this isn't about that meeting with the Detective? Nemuri told me they're planning to make a move on Kurogiri
A: I'm busy.
Y: Yeah yeah.
.
.
.
A: I'm going to be out in the morning, cover my class?
Y: Promise to take a nap and eat a whole meal?
A: Fine.
Y: Deal!
Y: Email me your lesson plan or I'm teaching them about the power of self-care.
A: You'll do that whether I email you or not.
Y: True…
A: I'm taking Rin with me. Also expect all four of the work study students to be with me. The meeting's flagged as confidential so I won't be able to say anything afterwards.
Y: Gotcha.
Y: How are you getting Rin into the meeting? You gonna code her as a witness?
A: I'll write her in as my intern and then remove her afterwards.
Y: Aww, that's kinda cute…
Y: Look at you doing all that extra paperwork so she can be included…
A: It's only rational, she's been involved for several key parts and she has a provisional license. The only reason she isn't with a hero at this point is my concerns regarding her mental state after the forest training. So far, she's responded well to therapy and learning control.
Y: Aww, are you reconsidering her joining a work study?
A: Maybe
.
.
.
A: Rin's on her way back.
Y: …
Y: Like by herself?
Y: What do you mean she's on her way back? Are you not coming with her?
A: No. The meeting's not over. She got overwhelmed and she didn't want to stay. I offered to call Nemuri, but she just left with Gran Torino.
Y: Gran Torino… The old geezer that likes to play dead and pretend to be senile? Is that a good idea?
A: Not really sure.
A: But it was either let her go or let her blow up.
Y: Riiiiggghhttt, good call then!
.
.
.
A: Where are you?
Y: Umm… about to walk into the booth? Why?
A: I'll call Nemuri.
Y: Hey, don't just say something like that and stop? What's wrong? Is it Midoriya? I know you and Yagi were worried about him…
A: Rin has a fucking casefile on her brother.
Y: Casefile? On her brother? Like the crazy one? Asp?
Y: Hold up, how? She hasn't left the school unsupervised!
A: That's what I'd like to know.
A: She was acting suspicious and the first thing out of her mouth is "it's not illegal."
Y: Oh shit.
Y: Did she do something illegal? Should you really be texting that?
A: Immoral, probably, but I doubt it's illegal. Unless she trespassed or secretly learned how to hack, which I doubt, more than likely whoever stole this information is the real one in trouble. I'm more concerned about what I'm seeing, there's at least twenty pages in this thing, including crimes that go back to when the kid would have been living with the oldest brother.
Y: Twenty pages?
Y: How long has she had this thing?
A: Print date for most of the documents are today, but she's got picture printouts of a redacted case file in here as well from about a week ago. She's got notes with Yaoyorozu's handwriting on them too.
Y: She hasn't said anything…
Y: Does… Does she still not trust us?
A: Based off this, no.
A: Ugh.
A: This shit is so illogical. Even if she didn't trust me, why not go to someone else? You, Nemuri, Yagi? Keeping this to herself is idiotic, she can't decode this. She doesn't know anything about legal cases, and her classmates won't recognize the implications. There're pro-heroes on this list, known corrupt heroes, all of which are dead. Politician homes being burned. You remember that hero that got tried for racketeering about two years ago? The one who was all over the media for getting free due to circumstantial evidence. He's on this list, and if it's to be believed, Kaito killed him.
Y: Dude… What?
Y: Are you saying her brother is some kind of… I don't know, vigilante?
A: No, but he may perceive himself as one
A: I need to research and there isn't time. I'm being called in for a raid within a 48 hour timeframe that started three hours ago. I'll call Nemuri and leave what notes I can.
Y: A raid? Dude, now?
A: I can't talk about it. We'll go on radio silence when it starts
Y: Fuck
A: I'm calling Nemuri
Y: Alright, be safe
.
.
.
Y: Hey, listen, I know you're on radio silence, but the moment you get off, you need to call. It's about Rin. Nemuri's tracking her now, but someone's trying hard to quiet the loose ends.
.
.
.
Y: Damn this mission is taking forever. Fuck, I hate radio silence.
.
.
.
Y: Nemuri's found your girl. She's going after her now.
.
.
.
Y: Have I mentioned how much I hate radio silence? If not, let me reiterate. I hate radio silence. Also, you and the kids are on TV. Dude, Midoriya is a beast. Did you see that attack? Of course you did, but man, they've been playing it all afternoon on rerun. And I know the protocol, you've got to debrief before you can even turn on the phone, but I'm worried and Rin's been missing for like 12 hours and that's a lot of time for anything to happen and I'm sure she's fine, but fuck.
Y: Why does this stuff always happen when I feel so fucking helpless?
.
.
.
Y: Nemuri's got her! Waiting to hear more!
.
.
.
[Phone Call]
.
.
.
Y: We're on our way.
A: Pick me up a coffee?
Y: Black like your soul?
A: yes
.
.
.
Y: Sorry, had a bit of a detour. Apparently someone wanted to comfort her least favorite hero.
A: ?
A: Yagi?
Y: The one and only. Lol. I told her she had ten minutes.
A: I'm coming. You're on the fifth floor?
Y: Yep!
Y: [Picture]
A: That's cute…
.
.
.
Y: Dude, what did you do?
A: …
Y: She was fine when we got here! Excited and happy and now she's a little hell-demon bent on destroying every pebble we pass. What did you do?
A: Is she being rude?
Y: No, she's just grumpy.
A: Then she's fine.
A: She wants to see Ryu.
Y: Alright? Then go see Ryu… What's the problem here?
A: The problem is he said no.
A: Technically, she shouldn't even know his name as it was all filed away as confidential. I'm guessing she has some more folders…
Y: Are you serious? That's his little sister? Why the hell wouldn't he want to see her again?
Y: What the hell is wrong with this family?
A: I don't know.
Y: Fuck. Have you heard anything more about Kurogiri?
A: He's been moved to Tartarus. They're running DNA samples as we speak.
Y: You don't think he really is…
A: That shouldn't be possible.
Y: Yeah but if it is…
A: I need to go. Message me if she acts out.
Y: Ah… Okay…
.
.
.
Y: Where is Rin?
A: What do you mean? She should be in school…
Y: Homeroom started 5 minutes ago and she's still not here. Hagakure said they walked out together, but she ran back to do something important.
A: Are you fucking serious?
A: I'll call.
.
.
.
A: I am going to ground that child until she's twenty.
Y: Uh… she okay?
A: She's lost her damn mind, but physically, yes, she's fine. She's on a train.
Y: …
Y: Are you serious? A train? A train where?
A: Where do you think? To see Ryu.
Y: Are… Seriously? She just hopped on a train? How? She doesn't have any money…
A: She 'won' it gambling with the boys.
Y: Oh. Shit.
Y: Fuck… What are you gonna do?
A: I'm texting Nedzu my expulsion recommendation.
Y: Wait, what? For real?
Y: You're really gonna expel her? Your own kid?
A: Absolutely.
Y: Okay, okay! Hold on! Let's pause for a second! Maybe she's got a good reason! Maybe it's all a misunderstanding!
A: She wants answers, she thinks Ryu has them. There's no misunderstanding.
A: When told to return or be expelled, she said 'fine, expel me'
Y: Oh Fuck.
Y: Okay, but Shouta, dude, you've gotta calm down!
A: Calm down. Yamada, my child is halfway across the country with no plan, no phone charger, and no clue why I'm asking her if she has a fucking plan.
Y: …
Y: But expulsion…?
A: What do you suggest? If Midoriya ran away from school to go do what he wanted, there'd be no problems. If Bakugou did the same, I wouldn't hesitate. I'm her teacher.
Y: Yeah, but you're also her dad.
A: Then maybe this is for the best.
Poor Aizawa...
There's so much going on. His daughter is being rebellious, his students are in danger, society is cracking around him, and his dead best friend may not be as dead as everyone believed. Stress, stress, stress...
Speaking of stress! :O
I have officially started back at work (school) and the struggle is real. LOL. I'm averaging 10+ hour days and, at least until I get a handle on the new role, updates are back to being slow. I'm sorry! :(
