Chap. 2
The next day, James & Susan called for their griffin friends, Julian & Pearl out in the meadow.
"Julian?" shouted James. "Pearl?"
Suddenly, Susan heard wings flapping in the sky.
"Look," she said as she pointed towards what was coming behind her. James also turned around & saw Julian & Pearl heading towards their position.
"Look Pearl, it's Susan & James," said Julian.
"Let's go meet them," Pearl suggested.
The griffins flew towards the children & landed on the grass.
"Hi Susan. Hi James," Pearl greeted.
"Hi," the children said simultaneously.
"So," Julian said while walking towards them. "What brings you two out here today?"
"Can we play with you again, please?" Susan begged.
"Yeah, we want to play with you again," said James.
Pearl & Julian glanced at each other, smiling & looked back at Susan & James.
"Ok," said Pearl. "We'll play with you. So what's the 1st thing you want to do?"
"Can we tickle you again?" asked James.
"Sure," Pearl replied.
"1st, stay still."
As Pearl & Julian stood still, James & Susan ran under them & tickled their bellies.
"OH!" the griffins exclaimed. The griffins laughed as James & Susan continue to tickle their underbellies, which made their tails wag & legs shake. Knowing that they can't stand on all fours forever, Pearl & Julian fell on the grass & rolled onto their backs, that way the kids can go for their sides, belly, legs, & feet.
"Hahahahaha," Pearl laughed as Susan climbed onto her belly & tickled her. "Ohhhhhoooo. That really, really, really, REALLY tickles."
"Hohohohoho. She's right! It DOES tickle!" said Julian as James tickled both of his feet. "HAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"More tickles Julian?" asked James.
"Sure," Julian replied.
"What about you, Pearl?" asked Susan.
"Hahahaha, of course. Of course," Pearl said while laughing. "You kids are really good at doing this. Hahahahahaha."
"It's true," Julian concurred. "In fact, you're good at making our tails wag & legs shake. Hahahaha."
"Good boy. Good boy. Good boy," James said as he tickled Julian's left side & belly, which made his right leg shake.
Susan grabbed Pearl's tail & used the tail tuft to tickle Pearl's legs & feet.
"Hahahahaha. Hahahaha. Hahaha," Pearl laughed as she was still being tickled. "Who knew you would use my tail. Hahahahaha."
After 25 minutes of tickling, James & Susan let Julian & Pearl catch their breath as the griffins lie their backs on the grass.
"Wow!" exclaimed Pearl. "That was good."
"Agree," said Julian.
The griffins rolled onto their stomachs & looked Susan & James in the eye once they sat on the grass crisscrossed.
"Glad you like being tickled," said Susan.
"We are glad," said Julian. "Besides, we'll let you in on a little secret. We griffins are extremely ticklish; in fact, we griffins are mainly ticklish on the belly, which happens to be our weak spot."
"Cool," the kids said together.
The griffins got on all fours & walked towards the kids.
"What else do you want to do?" asked Pearl.
"Give us a ride," said Susan.
"I don't know," doubted Julian. "You might not handle it, especially when we're up in the sky."
"Please?" the kids begged.
"Come on Julian, it's worth a try," Susan encouraged.
"Mmmmmmmmm, ok," Julian said in a reluctant & calm manner. The griffins crouched down, so they can let the kids get on their backs. "Climb on."
While James got on Julian's back, Susan got on Pearl's.
"Ready?" Pearl asked.
"Ready," the kids replied. And with that, the griffins & kids took off. By that time, James & Susan were enjoying the view from above.
"Wow," the kids said in amazement.
"Enjoying the view?" asked Julian.
"We are," said James as he petted Julian's head.
"Look, that's the castle we live in," said Susan as she pointed towards the castle.
"My, my, that's a nice castle you children have," said Pearl.
"Thanks," said James.
As Julian & Pearl kept flying, James & Susan looked in opposite directions to see various lands.
5 minutes later, the griffins landed back towards the meadow & the children climbed off of them.
"Did you two enjoy being in the air?" asked Pearl.
"Uh-huh," the kids replied.
James, Susan & Pearl then turned to Julian when they heard him groaning beside 2 trees.
"What's wrong with Julian?" asked Susan.
Pearl chuckled & said, "I think I know".
Next thing they know, Julian started pooping on the base of the trees.
"Aaaah," he sighed.
"Eww, that stinks," said Susan with disgust.
"Sorry," said Julian. "But it happens sometimes."
As they walked through the meadow, James was playing with Julian's tail & Susan was sitting on Pearl's back.
"So," said Pearl. "What else do you kids want to do?"
"I know. I know," Susan said with excitement. "Can we pretend that you & Julian are scary griffins & me & James are the brave knights who wanna capture you?"
"Hmhmhmhmhm," Julian chuckled. "Ok, but Pearl & I will be using our tails. That way, we won't hurt you with our talons."
"Rawr!" Pearl said playfully as she stood on her hindlegs. "Here we come."
James & Susan were running from the opposite direction of where the griffins were, but the griffins quickly ran in front of them and used their tails to try and capture them. The kids ducked and jumped from their tails. And as the griffins raised their tails high and tried to slam them on the kids gently, the kids captured their tails with tight, but soft grips.
"Gotcha," said James.
"Oh," said Julian & Pearl.
"Now what, James?" asked Susan.
"Now we pet their tails," said James.
James & Susan petted the griffins' tails, which made them purr. Later in the afternoon, James & Susan waved them goodbye & made their way back to the castle. But as they entered, their dad gave them a stern look.
