"Hey."

"Hey." Maggie parrots not quire matching the cheerful note of her visitor's voice still trying her best to stay hidden behind the door as she opened it wider to allow the other woman entry. "Thanks again for doing this."

"Of course." Kara smiles redoubling her grip on her laptop bag. "Just remember I get the exclusive for this, Sawyer." The reporter says not entirely teasing as she makes her way towards the kitchen table. "Oh uhm…sorry I didn't realize I came so early." The blonde goes on turning too fast to collect her normal greeting hug for Maggie to hide behind the open regenerator door. True she was fully covered but just with a towel. Far less covering she'd ever worn in the sunny blonde's presence.

"I don't know what's going to happen, but I bet it will hardly be story-worthy, but I will owe you one that's for sure." Maggie corrects her eyes darting around as she fixes the towel tighter around herself. "As soon as I told her I was going out Cole decided she would pick out my outfit, but the little goblin is taking forever." the flustered cop hurries to explain "She doesn't seem to get this isn't a date, this is for work. Just a little fancier than normal" she goes on the same time she's hastily tugging out a jug of apple juice and two glasses from the cabinet to keep from watching the door of her closed-off bedroom and the dozing guard Cole had set to make sure her mother wouldn't disturb her.

Kara's eyes follow Maggie's towards the dog lying beside the closed bedroom door. Clyde watches the two lazily from his blanketed dog bed.

"Well, she sure picked the cutest of guards." Kara cooed earning a lazy tail thump from the dog. "Alex says his recovery is coming along nicely." She muses already kneeling to run her fingers gently along the pup's back in greeting. The move earning a light lick of a tongue against her wrist as Clyde nuzzled the side of his head against the kneeling woman's palm.

"She still seeing that vet tech?" Maggie questions trying her best not to sound like she was probing too much considering she was talking to her crush's sister. She had called Alex to see if she would be willing to watch Cole for a little while, but it seemed her crush had sent her bubbly sister for a stand-in. Maggie was trying her hardest to keep the hurt from showing at the change-up.

"What are you talking about? Alex isn't seeing anyone." Kara gasped in honest surprise at the question.

Yet before Maggie could give even the challenge "Then why didn't she come instead of you." the door to the master sized of the apartment's two bedrooms cracked open enough for her sneaky daughter to peak out into the apartment's living room.

"Hey there kito." Kara signs when the girl spots her.

Cole points to close the door behind her with a warning "Not ready, No go in, okay?" signed message towards her mother before jogging across the room to tackle Kara in a friendly hug.

"She's going to be late if you keep holding out on her, Cola." Kara reminds her expression on the lighter side of scolding as she signs this sending Maggie a sympathetic smile.

The buzz of her phone pulls Maggie's attention as Cole tugs Kara towards the door to her mother's room with a conspirator-worthy grin

As promised, here's the address. Thanks again for being my backup on such short notice.

At this Maggie chews her lip to keep from giggling aloud. "Careful Sentinel you're starting to sound like a nervous schoolgirl." She murmurs typing up a reply "Of course, crime doesn't have set bedtimes, so I'm used to late-night case calls by now, and I did manage to find a replacement sitter so it's all good." her own before scrolling back to reread the messages in question.

I need your help. Will text the location when I have it narrowed down.

Wear something nice.

"Look alive Sawyer you have a city to save." Kara jokes shaking the dazed cop out of her glazed-eyed grin down at the earlier text chain with her crush of a literal costumed vigilante. "Now go get changed before Sentinel thinks you stood her up."

If Maggie wasn't already glancing nervously at the clock to recheck the time before she was hurried into the apartment bathroom after taking the offered garment bag Kara offered, she would have questioned more on just how Kara knew who she would be meeting.

Maggie was positive she hadn't mentioned who her contact would be when she'd talked with Alex trying to find a trusted sitter for her daughter on such short notice once she gave up on trying to reach M'gann.

Not that Maggie was worried for her best friend. Because she wasn't. M'gann was more than capable of looking out for herself. But even when she went off-world, she would give at least Maggie some kind of notice.

It wasn't like her to disappear like that….

Maggie had just finished clicking the lock on her car and double-checking the fit of the weapon she'd strapped to her leg beneath her dress when she hears that soft whisper of "Wow." Coming from the shadows around her.

The single breath of a word so soft even to Maggie's trained ears she would have dismissed it if it wasn't for the following "Well don't you clean up nice."

Maggie can't help but smile at the attempted teasing of the comment as the speaker melted out of the shadows a few steps ahead of her. "Well, it can't be all businesses all the time." The cop answers self-consciously smoothing a hand down the front of her dress as the soft click of heels sounds signaling the still shadowed hero moved closer.

"But this is." Sentinel reminds her tone on the softer side of her usual herded demeanor.

Maggie felt her breath still in her lungs when a much more dressed down yet dressed up woman stepped out of the shadows and into the small halo of light from the overhead streetlamp Maggie had parked beside.

Of course, she'd be wearing blue.

The more cobalt shade complimented her figure as smoothly in a dress as it did with the hero's chosen costumed outfit when she was in the thickest fights. Maggie wasn't about to admit that seeing the shade now made her mouth dry and her keens threaten to buckle under her.

She truly was breathtaking.

"What?" Sentinel questions her eyes going wide behind the dark cover of the masquerade mask she was already wearing. Another similar styled blue one obviously intended for Maggie to wear twisted between her fingers betraying the normally put-together hero's nerves at Maggie's continued silence.

"You're beautiful." The cop whispered once again looking the literal masked woman up and down once more.

"So are you." Sentinel hurries to agree "with the shoes and the hair." She rambles "that dress." She adds in a much lower whisper.

Maggie gives a nervous breath of a laugh at that as she drops her eyes in that bashful way girl does with a crush until her back straightens and she looks back up with her 'Detective Sawyer' mask as Cole called it.

"To business then." A no longer blushing hero agreed handing over the mask she still held as one of the guards smartly dressed as he was eyed them suspiciously from what Maggie guessed was the front entrance to the building she'd been brought to in the middle of the night.

Rather than ask for anything more substantial about what she was walking into now they had an audience Maggie simply slips on the mask she'd been given as she turns towards the waiting guard trying to look like a woman who belonged at whatever gathering she'd been invited to.

Her breathing caught a little at the warm touch of a hand against her back as Sentinel stepped beside her "Shall we?" she asks as if this were simply a normal night out between them before those warmed fingers slid down Maggie's back to down her arm to interlace with her hand as the hero takes the lead in walking them towards the entrance.
