Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Southern Hospitality. Enjoy the 4000-word chapter. I don't own Red vs Blue; Rooster Teeth and a few others do.
South sighed and cracked her broken arm while she prepared to peel her armor off, setting her helmet and upper armor on the bed next to her.
"Hey, you kicked my ass before." She heard as she turned to look before she looked over to see Tennessee looking at her, curious as of now.
"What the hell…?" South questioned as he closed his eyes, looking at her. "Tenn, right? Yeah, and you sprained my damn leg and arm." South stated to which Tennessee nodded to which he hummed, tilting his head before he questioned before he smirked.
"Heh, you, ok?" Tennessee stated before he tilted his head.
He eyed before he seemed to handle what to question. whatever before he slowly moved further and further into the room, his body covered in bruises and cuts from their brawl. Both looked like they had rung the other's bell so badly it had ripped off the damn hinges.
He smirked, pulling off his helmet so he could reveal his cut lip and bruised cheek as she laughed, only to grunt as she realized her ribs ached.
"I came to talk, not pound you like a piece of hamburger," Tennessee stated before he grunted and leaned on it with a smirk riding across his lips as he did so. "Can we do that? I think we broke enough bones for a while and I'd rather not break anymore unless it comes to it." Tennessee stated and sighed before he leaned on the wall.
South went to say something then thought better of it, she sighed and looked at her battle rifle before snorting.
"You going to stand there like an idiot, or come in, then?" South questioned to which he snorted and slowly walked in.
It was then she noticed that he had spiky, black unmatted hair, hair which had been screwed up by his helmet, even if only a little bit. It made him look more interesting if not for the fact he had been so thoroughly screwed. She knew more than he how screwed he had been during their fight, but South wasn't so damn prideful she couldn't admit he kicked her just as much. Her body felt as if someone had run sledgehammers over her skin. It told her enough.
"You're going to need a doctor, surprised you're still walking around after someone kicked the crap out of you," South stated to which Tennessee stayed silent, his body still wincing in pain.
He hurt, he knew he hurt and he knew she hurt as much if he was honest. He knew she was hurt more than he at the end of the day. Whatever came next? He certainly wasn't a pushover, that much was true and he knew more than anything this fight had been far from over weak and he knew more than anything to do. Their fight had been a fun little thing, but it had picked up more and more as time went on and their fight.
And it still hurts worse than anything. He knew brought a hand to his chest before he sighed.
"You know… I heard a LOT about how you hate everyone and how you lash out at every single person who even says hey to you." Tenn stated before he looked at her, an eyebrow raised. "You sound like my old man; the only difference is he was a piece of garbage my sister kicked the crap out. Are there many reasons you have every single person here?" Tenn stated before he cracked his fingers.
He knew for a fact that was a lie. He knew the few rumors the staff talked about him, Mona, and Kenny.
"This isn't a damn popularity contest. We're not friends." South said as Tenn sat at the edge of her bed.
"Kinda is. You're good, but you're not as good as the top of the food chain." Tenn said before she went to open her mouth, her face contorting in a snarl. "Neither am I. Everyone thinks I'm a brute who kills every single soldier in my way." Tenn stated before he cracked his fingers.
"And? I know everyone thinks I'm a b****." South stated to which Tenn rolled his eyes and looked around.
"If you were that terrible?" Tenn responded and sighed. "Then why the hell am I here? Everyone thinks I'm a brute and that's it. They don't even know I crack some jokes like Kenny or loosen up at times. You're the younger sister, I'm a damn middle child, how do you think I have to put up with it?" Tenn stated while he hummed to himself.
It had been something that made her blink before he sat down across the edge of her bed. He was taller, she could tell that he was older than Kentucky considering the fact he acted a lot more experienced compared to him. She sighed and leaned back in the bed.
"So what? This a damn pity party?" South questioned as South held up a finger. "Heh, you do have a heart under all that muscle," South stated to which Tenn looked at her.
"No, it's me telling you to stop acting like Ms. Damn bass who doesn't have emotions," Tenn said as he pointed a finger at her, resting his other hand on his knee. "Cut the crap. You don't hate everyone as much as you think if you did? You wouldn't even be here. I can tell someone trying to act like they're above everyone when they're not." Tenn stated and rolled his head.
"So, why the hell don't you hate me then?" South questioned as Tenn shrugged.
"You kick ass, you don't act like I'm some stupid piece of meat with a gun, you seem to at least respect someone who can kick ass as well," Tenn stated to which there was a small hum.
"You're not bad at kicking ass. Not as good as me, but…" South said as Tenn once again held up a finger.
"I turned your left leg into silly putty and fractured your radius in your right arm badly enough for it to need a cast for at least a week," Tenn stated before he looked at his own body. "You cracked 2 of my ribs and sprained my right leg. I don't think either of us has room to talk crap about our fighting skills." Tenn stated to which South raised an eyebrow.
"I used to be a medic. Only quit because the corps didn't seem to give a shit about the people over winning, figured someone would need my skills considering Kenny and Mona joined up." Tenn stated with a hum as he realized there was a lot more to this than it seemed to be.
There was too much emotion between them. Whatever he knew about her was that she seemed to be a soldier who had about as much resistance to emotion as him. Then again? If it was at all part of this, it'd not end lightly. He was curious oh as of now. He had more to this, there was all too much interest between him and the others for this to be done and dusted.
He was prepared and a lot more interested in how this was done and dusted. The idea had been something that needed to be done. Still? If he was on the fence about this at the moment? He needed to handle what to do next.
Still? if anything? It made her a lot more curious, what the hell had drawn him here? What was Tenn's story at the end of the damn day? Some crappy parent? Someone who didn't care for their kid? Some soldier looking for redemption at the moment?
Well? It was a lot more of a nightmare to be done and dusted. She didn't give much of a damn when all was said and done, it had to be odd for them to deal with for now or could be sooner or later. This was almost over sooner or later and she could not wait for the release of said enjoyment. It was almost entirely adoring for them to grasp the idea of it at the end of the day.
Yet, South didn't care. It wasn't like she had any reason to. She was a soldier, a weapon, one of the Directors' little toys he seemed to want to break to pieces in front of him with no remorse for whatever came next.
Still? If anything? She knew more than anything else that this wouldn't be done and dusted as of now.
She snorted to herself with a sigh, unsure of what to do next. She knew he was messing with her as of now. Whatever he did too next. He seemed to handle the jabs a lot more than she expected.
"So, what, we going to be friends now?" South questioned to which Tenn shrugged.
"Don't know, don't care, I'm a soldier first, a person second," Tenn stated as he hummed while he questioned what to do next. "Why? What's your story? found it fun to break people in half like candy bars? Because you seem to be enjoying it a little more than you usually do." Tenn stated before he leaned backward.
Whatever next he did? Well, he knew more than her even if something that hadn't yet been done to fix it for now.
"So, guess we're a bunch of jackasses, aren't we?" South questioned to which Tenn shrugged.
"I don't think I'm one at the end of the day, we're soldiers, people who are on the frontlines of combat when it came back to it," South stated to which she seemed to tilt her head, unsure of how this seemed to be weird for now…This game had come to an end sooner or later.
"Your brother messes with you, doesn't he?" South heard as she raised an eyebrow before Tenn sat closer. "Your brother? He mocks you at the end of the day. I've heard him crack some jokes as Monty does. He's a lot snarkier than I expected a sniper to be. Then again? He's a sniper, I've seen enough damn movies to know when it comes down to it, they love to crack jokes at the end of the day, there's a lot more of that crap, ain't there?" Tenn stated while he sighed before now.
He knew something was going to have been when it had been done and dusted.
He raised an eyebrow and sat in front of her, it had been an odd weird little thing for them to have been in this purpose. The idea had been a nightmare, one which bothered both of them. It seemed to be one where they could have been there soon or dusted.
"There's a nightmare involved with this, isn't there? This is what hell is." South questioned as her friend shrugged, interested in very little besides now.
"Don't know, we're soldiers, we're always through this. I don't know what will be next, I do know this had been something of a contest. The director wants us to fail." Tenn said before he looked at her. "Your brother got something you wanted, yeah? I saw you glancing at him before we fought. I've seen people that angry before I joined the corps. Doesn't get that much easier." Tenn added to which it seemed as of now.
She was a lot more to ponder when the day was done and dusted. It had been weirdly defining for now. They had more to do, a lot more to do next.
There was another knock on the door which made her look at the door, the idea had been weird for them. Tenn turned to look at her before he tilted his head. There was a lot more of a game while he shoo his eyes.
"Are you always this popular or is it just your personality?" South heard as she shrugged. "Your brother or my sister? I guarantee it's one of those." South heard as she rolled her eyes, curious as to how this came next.
He was a lot more to question was a lot more while he was a lot more focused on whatever was to come its way. They had a lot more to deal with before now.
"My brother, nobody's got a stick up their ass compared to your sister, unless your sister babies you all the time." South heard as he tilted his head.
"She does, middle kid syndrome, remember?" Tenn said while he shrugged before he seemed to lean back to the side.
"We going to go back to kicking the crap out of each other or do something else?" Tenn questioned, raising an eyebrow as he questioned what to say.
"Why, you want me to break your other arm?" South joked to which Tenn shrugged, all too curious as to what he'd do next.
Tenn shrugged, enjoying the idea as to how this ended, he'd be a lot more surprised as to how this game would go. Their fight was something that hadn't yet gotten off the ground, but both of them were getting a fight on their hands when all of this was said and done when all of this was said and done.
South watched as his eyes seemed to light up, all too curious for now. All of the enjoyment of this was on his face, he had been oh so curious, oh so unwilling to do anything to mess with it, there was a lot more to explore before the day was done. Whatever he did next would make him laugh more than it had ever been before now. The game had been afoot for a lot longer than they'd claim for now.
"Maybe, it'd be more exciting than just anything else. Waiting around is boring as hell and we both know what will happen if we wait around, I'd rather get some work down than just sit around and twiddle my damn thumbs." Tenn stated before he tilted his head, a lot more as he yawned.
He felt tired of all of the ideas had been when it seemed to become more and more curious as to now, there was so much he hadn't yet dealt with and wouldn't be dealing with before now. the idea had been curious and dwelling inside his mind more and more with every moment, he laughed and seemed to feel tired, maybe it was the shock of getting wounded and all the pain slowly catching to him or something else.
South didn't seem to care when all of this was said and done, he still laughed at her before he rolled his eyes. He hummed, too uneasy and peaceful at the same time to back down.
Yet? He'd be damned to the pit if he didn't find it amusing. He was too tired, unsure of what to do next. He had a lot more to focus on when push came to shove. If anything? He was too tired to even properly focus on it.
South snorted while she seemed to be amused at this. Only her damn brother could have walked in like this and messed with her. Only her would be bothered by damn father before now.
He sighed before he questioned what to do next. He sighed before slowly sitting up, looking around the room as he turned towards South a second later, she only raised an eyebrow, unsure of what to tell him.
Both of them slowly turned towards the door, their armor not even slightly pressed into place as of now. There was only so much more that could be done before he sighed, unsure of what to do next.
South reached for her battle rifle before she hummed to herself.
If anything? This made him laugh to himself, he pulled his helmet over his head, looking around the room as he seemed to question what his options would have been. He could have sprinted out of the room, probably being questioned as to why he was in South's room, which would have spiraled a THOUSAND different questions off.
Yet? He didn't at all care for that if he was entirely honest. So much more they could be focusing on, yet they had to start an argument over something as odd and as weird as this? Yeah, wasn't happening on his watch if that was all said and done at the end of the day, probably be for a long time when all of this was over with.
"Should I go or see how he ends up screwing this up?" Tenn questioned as he prepared for whatever hell North would have set up.
"Don't know, don't give a crap anyway," South added to which he rolled his eyes.
"Damn, real shame I'll never know why you're so alone in the Freelancers," Tenn stated as she frowned. "Hey, I respect someone. Who can kick ass and doesn't take a damn thing from anyone?" Tenn added to which she frowned, rolling her eyes but grabbing at her helmet all the same.
Wasn't like she should care about all of this, came to them anyway. She was a soldier; he was a soldier. They both had different views on what worked and what didn't. She'd leave it there and be done with it as of the time being. He couldn't exactly do anything about it when all was over with.
They had more pressing issues to deal with either way. She knew about a mission that was coming up sooner or later they'd need to deal with which meant problems.
South looked over at Tenn who had fallen silent, unsure of his next words, unsure of how well this could have gone. It was all going to par sooner or later; this was going to be a lot more to question as of now. He didn't know what else would happen, but he did know what next. Well, this was to be an odd little thing that made them sigh, unsure of what else was going on, he didn't know how else to have relaxed.
"South, we have a mission, they want all hands on deck, we need you guys out here," North added to which there was a moment of silence, causing him for now.
Tenn hummed to which there was a moment of silence, there was more to this, a lot more to have questioned and so much more upon the brain. He didn't know what else was coming, only that it could have been a problem, something that could have been done for now.
There was a lot more upon which this could have happened to be, something odd and weird for them but still within their control. They needed to find a way to get this all under control.
"Well, if it's a damn mission, we better get down to the bridge and learn what it is," Tenn stated to which he hummed, sighing as he did so.
South sighed and gripped her helmet, looking at the thing before turning to the others. There was a lot more upon which they had to carry out. He didn't know what else was going on, only that this was going to have been for the time being. There wasn't anything else that could have been done for now.
South watched as Tenn pulled on his armor and looked at her, questioning what else he could have done and how well this could have gone.
"My brother is going to have a damn heart attack seeing us in here," South stated to which Tenn shrugged, raising his arms into the air.
He knew damn well South was just going to mess with him anyway. There was a lot more to have been for now. He didn't much care at the moment as that meant that the others were for the time mad.
Plus? It wasn't like he had a lot more to worry about, for now, it just made him more worried for now, just a bit off-put as to how this may or may not go for the time being.
"I have a feeling we're going to die and die a lot worse than we have already so it ain't like I give much of a damn. Not really, we're all going down sooner or later." Tenn said before he went to find the rest of his armor.
South sighed and simply shrugged, not yet understanding what was coming out of his mouth. This entire damn place was odd and it felt as if she was just driving through it on autopilot, for now, would have surprised her.
South was a lot more unsure of what to question before it came down to it. South was a lot more unsure of what to handle next. This came down to it, he tilted his head at Tenn who had it come down to it.
South watched as Tenn started to slip his weapon over his shoulder before he questioned as of the time before now what else was coming, how this was to end sooner or later. Yep, this night was to become a lot odder and he didn't know how else this nightmare was going to have been.
It just could mean they were to move on to something else for now. He had a lot more to have questioned when it came down to it. There was a mission afoot and they couldn't be allowed to let it all go when push came to shove. Yes, this adventure was to be something else and she could spin it to her advantage. It was fun, it was exciting. It could have been won for the time being. The nightmare was just too much fun and this adventure was making her question if the worst was to have come.
If it was? Well, she didn't know what else was to be over for now. This was a lot more to have been focused upon for now… Yes, this could only end so many ways.
She also didn't know what else was coming how and how badly they needed to have been focused more on the task at hand. If this mission ended with them all dead? Well, she'd blame her former employers and cut and run…. To hell, at least in the afterlife nobody could have judged her for now and it became something of a nightmare to have endured.
"You going to keep thinking to yourself or fight? Because I'm starting to think more and more that we're all going to die, you know." Tenn stated
South was silent as she held up a single finger towards him as he laughed, looking around as he did so. There was a drop of boredom as he did so. This day would be something fun and he knew more than anything just how damn well it'd be if he brought himself out of it. He'd not be relaxing anytime soon, but he'd be able to get into the game. He wasn't able to get onto the said game. There was a lot more to have done, a lot more…
And with all the secrets and bells and whistles? Well, he didn't know what the next game would bring. How badly they'd be on the ropes. They had a mission, sure, but every mission would bring something new.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out that the next chapter will be a bit delayed and will show more of South and Tenn with a mission before now. The next chapter will be in 2-10 months before and will be 900-6500 words before he questioned before it was all over. The next chapter will be delayed before now. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
