(The morning of Halloween)
"Fleur, you did what?!" The young woman had to hold the phone away from her ear as her best friend yelled loudly.
"I laid on his chest and almost fell asleep? What's so bad about that?
"Fleur, you never, ever, ever make the first move," Fleur chuckled and laid on her stomach. She twirled the cord of the phone with her hand and bit into it. "I knew it was fate, didn't I call it? What is he like? Is he hot? Does-"
"Don't forget to breathe Marie, we don't want a repeat of your twelfth birthday,,"
"Shut up, so tell me, has he taken you out for a date yet? Has he done this and that?"
"What is 'this and that' mean?" Fleur arched her brow.
"You know, roses, a dinner lit by the moonlight, dancing to slow music. All those things," Marie stated excitedly.
"Marie, I met him only a few days ago. I don't think that we can do that in two days and besides. We are just friends,"
"Just friends who you will kiss and marry," The young French woman stated in a flirtatious tone.
"I haven't kissed him."
"Ah, you 'haven't' so you're planning on doing it?"
The young woman was stunned at the rare moment when Marie catches Fleur in a mistake. "Alright, you got me there,"
"So you ARE planning to kiss him. Oh Fleur this is the best thing that I've heard all day,"
"Are you living through me?" Fleur teased.
"Oh be quiet, now. So what are you gonna do about him?"
The blue-eyed beauty sighed. "There is a lot more to life than just romance and finding love, Marie. I think you need to stop reading those novels and start focusing on yourself,"
"Hush now child, you of all people need a date. But let's put a pin in this for now, how are your classes going?"
"They are going well. I haven't really had to do a lot of work so since there is a special event going on this year."
"Ooh, what kind of special event?"
"Oh, just a small competition between my school and a rival school, nothing too big," Fleur stated only telling half the truth.
"That's fun, I just can't wait for this for this year to be over so I can travel the world,"
"Where are you going to?"
"I really don't know just anywhere but here, I am sick of seeing the same places every single day. It isn't fun anymore,"
"That is because you just stay home and watch movies all day, how much fun can that be?" Fleur teased.
"You'll be surprised. Besides, what else do we have to do in Paris? We grew up in the city together, and we have done everything that someone could do. There isn't much left."
Fleur laughed and sighed. "Well, it has been fun talking to you but I think I have to go, I'm pretty sure my papa will be very mad if I use up all my money talking to you,"
"Okay, I didn't want to be rude but I really needed to take a shower. I love you, byyeee" The young woman hung up the phone before the beauty could say another word.
Fleur smiled and shook her head. "What am I gonna do with that girl?"
Her train of thought was cut short when a knocking came on her door. The young woman walked over to the door and opened up the silver door, standing in front of her was one of her female classmates, who didn't seem to be very happy.
"What do you want Ariel?" Fleur asked coldly.
"The headmistress wants to see you, she said something about you and the tournament," She stated quietly. Fleur sighed and walked out of the room and followed the girl. The two didn't talk much and as they were passing by their classmates. Fleur could feel like everyone was glaring at her for some odd reason. It didn't bother her, she never wanted to be popular and she never was. Not with the girls at least. They made their way to the office. A large silver embellished door. The young woman opened the door and inside was a large room with a lot of fancy decorations all over the walls. In the center of the room was a giant desk and behind it was her headmistress.
"Hello Fleur," The giant woman greeted the young woman with a kind smile. "Please close the door,"
She did as asked and made her way over to a seat. "You wanted to see me, madame?"
"Yes, I wanted to ask your opinion on something," Fleur arched her brow in confusion. "Do you believe you can win this tournament?"
"Uh, I don't know if I would even be selected," she tried to play dumb.
The giant woman chuckled with a deep laugh. Seemingly amused. "You're too modest sometimes dear, you are our most powerful witch and I would be shocked if you weren't the one to be selected to represent our academy,"
"I appreciate the confidence but I believe that everyone has a fair chance,"
"You still haven't answered my question, do you believe you can win this tournament?"
"I believe I have the same chance as the other contestants,"
The headmistress sighed and rested her giant head on her hands. "It has come to my knowledge that Hogwarts's best student isn't going to be joining the tournament. That seems to play in our favor. That means that the only person we have to worry about is Krum,"
Fleur felt uneasy for a moment. "I don't think we should doubt Hogwarts, I believe that they can produce a lot of good students,"
"I have been told that this wizard has been called a generational talent. Some even consider him the next Dumbledore. It is a blessing that he isn't going to compete against us."
Fleur sighed. 'Why is winning this tournament so important? I didn't hear you talk about Hogwarts at all until this year,"
The headmistress took a deep breath and turned her chair around. She looked out the window that was directly behind her. "Before the Triwizard tournament went on hiatus. Beuaxbaton was the best school in all of the magical world. We made our name through the Triwizard tournament, holding the record for the most wins. You are too young Fleur. But we produced many great students, many great scholars." the giant's expression went dark. "Then Hogwarts began to be more powerful. We managed to keep pace." she turned back. "I need you to win this tournament. It will push us over the edge."
Fleur stayed silent.
"I'm not asking you to suddenly be super proud of the school. All I need is for you to try your best and win it for us. She shot the beauty a stern look. "You've been perfect in everything, I just need you to do it all over again," Fleur bit the inside of her cheek, trying her best not to show her emotions; she slowly began to big her fingernail deep into the chair. "Do I make myself clear?"
"I understand madame,"
"Good, I'm glad that we are clear on that. You are dismissed,"
Fleur nodded and stood up. She made her way out of the office. The beauty took a deep breath and looked around. Everyone was looking at her as if they wanted to know what occurred inside the room. Everyone was suddenly her friend. She, at least to the best of her abilities, ignored them. Her room didn't provide much comfort either.
"How are you doing, Adrian?" Harry watched as his brother skipped a flat stone across the lake. "That's a good bounce,"
"I'm just using dad's technique. But to answer your question, same old, same old. Snape is a pain in the ass, McGonagall has impossibly high standards, and everyone is talking about the stupid tournament. So nothing much is really new. How have you been Harry?"
"You know me, Adrian, I never socialize, so nothing new." The younger brother scoffed and kept his eye on the lake.
"Have you heard the news about that one girl from Beuaxbaton?"
Harry held his breath. "The Veela? What about her?"
The younger Potter stopped skipping rocks and looked back at his brother. "There is a rumor going around that you and she are an item or at least you guys are close. Is that true?"
The emerald-eyed wizard held his breath and looked at the ground. "I don't know why someone would say that, I don't ever go for anyone. You know that. Why do you even ask?"
"Well," he hesitated. "I was thinking, maybe I could try and ask her out. It doesn't hurt to try you know,"
The young man felt nervous. "Yeah, I guess. You should try, but I wouldn't get my hopes up."
Adrian tilted his head. "You're a bad liar you know that,"
"What do you mean?"
"Harry, I know when you're lying. I don't care if you go for a girl but don't lie to me,"
"I'm sorry Adrian."
"Why would lie to me?"
"Remember how mad you got at me when you found out Sophie liked me instead of you?" Harry watched as his brother clenched his fist.
"What the hell does that have to do with anything?"
"You like a different girl every single year, Adrian. I don't know how you do it. The last relationship you had lasted two weeks before summer, then you said you couldn't do long distance. I am not confirming that I'm dating anyone but I don't want to hear you complain about relationships when you do this shit," Harry watched as his brother took out his wand, and quickly disarmed him; catching it in the air. The younger Potter glared at him in anger. "What was your plan?"
"Give me back my wand, now," He tried to snatch it back, but Harry was just a bit taller.
"I'll give this back to McGonagall, now you get to dinner," Adrian growled under his teeth before running off.
"Jackass" Adrian whispered loud enough for Harry to hear as he walked by.
The young man watched as his brother disappeared into the afternoon light, he clenched his wand tightly. "You have to be more careful wiz your words," A very accented voice rang out. He turned towards the beauty walking up to him. "Sorry for listening in,"
He scoffed. "How much did you hear?"
"Enough, come 'ere" he was taken aback when she pulled him in for a hug. He returned it in kind. "So what's going on?"
Harry sighed and motioned for her to sit down. The beauty followed. "It's a long story, but it happened right around the beginning of last year. When our dad disappeared from his job. Our mother fell ill not long after; I was in the last few months of my sixth year but I had to pull out to take care of things at home. I stayed by her side and Adrian said he would come back with me but I insisted he stayed. Our mother passed and I was the only one who was there to see her. He blamed me for him not being able to say goodbye"
She quickly wrapped her arms around him. "I'm so sorry," she pulled his head down to her chest, and he felt safe. "Do you want to keep talking about it?"
"It's okay. So basically after everything, I had to take care of my siblings but it wasn't long before the UK government decided to split us up. They sent us to live with our grandparents, while our sister was sent to live with our aunt and uncle. I've been trying to find a way to get all three of us back together,"
"'Arry, I admire you for being strong but zat is a task zat no one can 'andle alone." the young man lifted his head up.
"I don't have a choice, Fleur. There isn't anyone who can help." she grabbed his face tightly. He noticed that her eyes were sparkling.
"I can't promise zat life is gonna be easy, but I've been zrough zings alone. It's easier wiz friends, I know zat you feel alone but zere are people, who care about you. You need to remember zat,"
The young man grabbed her hand softly. "Why are you saying all of this to me?"
The girl smiled widely. "Cause- Cause I care about you, I don't know how to explain but I do and I kinda am zee reason for zee argument. So it's only fair," the pair laughed for a moment. She released his face and sat up clearly. He noted that she was still sitting close to him.
"Adrian is just coming into puberty,"
"Gross, please do not remind me of zat awkward time."
"I think it's a little worst for guys," He felt her eyes pierce through his soul. The young man turned over and was ready to get slapped.
The young woman chuckled. "You did not just say zat? 'Ave you ever gone from being flat chested to all over sudden not 'aving a single one of your clothes fit?"
"I actually have but not with my chest," He was in shock when he noticed she got a little flustered.
"You dirty-minded bastard,"
"Thank you,"
"Zat wasn't a compliment,"
"You started it," suddenly he felt his side being poked. "Oh, what was that for?"
"Hmm, you're starting to get annoying," he watched as she turned and pouted her lips.
"Well, you only have known me for a few days."
"Yeah, I zink zee good 'Arry is gone,"
"Oh, am I zee bad 'Arry' now?" suddenly he was pushed to the ground, feeling her climb on top of him. "How the-"
"I'm a lot faster zen I look, monsieur Potter," she stated in a dark, sultry voice. He gulped before relaxing, he felt her hand slowly move down his face. "You're cute,"
"In a dumb puppy kinda of way?" he asked, matching her tone. She began to lean down, the young man closed his eyes and slowly parted his lips. He was waiting until he felt her breath on his ears.
"Don't. Ever. Insult. My Accent. Ever again, 'Arry Potter," he opened his eyes and watched her pull back. She didn't move from his lap. "So tell me, what were you expecting?" he noticed a devious glint in her eyes. He felt his senses failing him as he watched her glow in the afternoon light. He suddenly noticed her snapping her finger. "'Ello? Is anyone 'ome?"
"You're just so pretty,"
"I zink I broke your brain,"
"Hey, just take the compliment," the young woman briefly laughed. Her expression quickly changed.
"Ave you ever 'ad your first kiss?" Harry hesitated for a moment.
"I actually haven't, don't make fun of me," Fleur giggled momentarily.
"Close your eyes, I want to show you somezing,"
"Hmm?"
"Just trust me," she stated in a seductive tone. The young scoffed and slowly closed his eyes. He felt both her hands touched his face. They were soft and surprisingly warm, even during this time of heat. His body relax until suddenly a large shock was sent through him. Her lips were soft, he instinctively felt his hand move up to her waist; pulling her down closer to him. She deepened the kiss.
She slowly began to pull back. He opened his eyes slowly, green met glue. Her lips were quivering. "Wow,"
"You're a dork," the pair locked lips once more, the moon slowly rising in the back.
AN: I know it's short but I just wanted to get out because I thought it was cute. For those who may think I'm rushing a bit, there is a lot more to Fleur's and Harry's relationship that has yet to unfold. I'm basing it on one that I know pretty well and I hope you stick with me :)
