As Fleur opened her eyes, she noticed that the room was engulfed in a golden glow. The young woman looked around, a familiar voice came out of the blue. "You're awake." she turned towards the voice and found Harry looking at her with a smile on his face, she noticed that he had a book open and a few pieces of paper laying around. He seemed to have been studying or at least trying to.
"'Arry? Where am I?" She asked in a weak voice as she looked around the unfamiliar setting.
"The hospital wing, you passed out again when you, well you know," The young woman groaned and felt tears coming to her eyes, the young man sat on the side of the bed and grabbed her hand. He bent down and kissed her forehead. "Don't worry, you didn't grow a beak this time, just a lot of fire." She looked at his arm and noticed that the sleeves of his shirt were burnt. She instantly knew.
"'Arry… I'm so sorry," she reached for his chest. He smiled and grabbed her hand softly. "I did-" he pressed a finger to her lips.
"No, it's okay. I can handle it. I'm just glad you're okay."
"I can't forgive myself for what I did to you,"
"Well, I know how you can start," the young man leaned in closely and held the kiss. The young woman seemed hesitant but soon she was pulling him in closer. "I think you know I can handle fire pretty well. You are my girlfriend." she leaned into his chest, and his body language quickly became dark. "I wanted to ask, what happened? That made you mad?"
Fleur sighed and buried her face deeper. "My parents, zat awful Pierre, everyzing,"
"What did they do?" he held her hand softly and she gave it a soft squeeze.
"Let's see, my parents were my parents. As always. Pierre told zem zat I fancied 'im and 'e kept touching me. Eet was just a shit show,"
"Why didn't you stand up to them or him? I know you, Fleur, you would never let anyone speak for yourself,"
"I wanted to, trust me, I did. But…" The young woman stopped and the memories of her past came flooding back in. A tear went down her eyes. "But I didn't want to be 'it again," The room fell into an eerie silence.
Harry just pulled her in tighter and didn't seem like he was gonna let go anytime soon. "You don't have to talk about it if you're not ready," Fleur sighed and grabbed his hand, she guided it up to the back of her head, and even through the mess of her hair, she traced the dent in her skull. "Where did you get this?"
"My fazzer, when I was little, 'e would always 'it me, say eet was 'zee only way I would learn'. One time eet got so bad, zat my 'ead started bleeding. So, 'e stopped after zat, but I zink zat eet was more so zat he was afraid zat I would tell someone and ruin 'is name razzer zen my own safety." the tears kept flowing down her face and she couldn't seem to control them. "My mozzer isn't any better, she always told me zat a lady doesn't talk unless spoken to and never raise your voice. If I did, my mozzer would just slap me and say 'You are an uncivilized child! Have I taught you nothing!?".I wanted to slap zee daylight of Pierre but if I did, I know my parents would just take 'is side." Fleur looked at Harry and he didn't say anything, but his eyes said everything. She took a deep breath and looked down at her hand. "I always wonder what life would be like if I wasn't born," she began to cry.
The Englishman pulled her in for a hug and she buried her face into his shoulders. His scent overwhelmed her senses but she felt safe in his arm. They weren't letting go of each other anytime soon. "Fleur, I can't change your past, but I can try my best to give you a good future." She felt herself crying even more. But she shook her head.
"Eet, doesn't matter. No matter what, zey will never change. Zey 'ave been like zis since I was little. Zey're probably talking to Pierre right now about 'is family and 'ow zey're gonna marry me off to 'im. I don't 'ave a voice when I'm around my parents, 'Arry. Everyzing I want doesn't matter to zem."
Harry leaned back and looked at Fleur. He leaned in and kiss the young woman, she closed her eyes and deepened them. He pulled back and the pair locked eyes again. "It doesn't matter to them but you matter to me, we will talk to them, together."
"'Arry…" The young man just kissed her one more time. This time she knew he wasn't gonna let go anytime soon. Their moment was ruined once more by another voice.
"Am I interrupting something?" The pair separated and turned towards the voice. Fleur was taken aback when she noticed a very familiar face walking towards them.
"Isaac? What are you doing here?" She noticed that he had a very smug look on his face. Like a child who just found the cookie jar.
"Ah, my baby cousin has finally grown up. She got herself a boyfriend." He chuckled as he pulled a chair and sat next to the two. "The name is Isaac, you must be Harry," He reached out a hand and Harry returned it.
"You've heard about me?" Harry arched his brow in confusion as he looked at Fleur. Who was just as confused as he was.
"Not exactly, but I got quite the earful from my mom earlier today about how Fleur and an English dog, no offense." He placed his hand up. The Englishman just brushed it off. "Cause quite the scene and how the Delacours have been disgraced."
"What happened to my parents? What happened with Gabby?" Fleur asked, more concerned about her sister than anything else.
"Nothing, they just didn't want to face you and took her back home. But I was sent here to 'talk sense into my cousin'". He stated with air quotes. "I think they are madder that you pushed the Dubois boy,"
Fleur rolled her eyes. "Of course they are, they-"
"They only care about marrying you off to his family, I know. My mom did the same thing with his sister when I was in school. Let me guess, he told them that you fancied him?" The beauty was taken aback for a second. Her cousin chuckled at what she assumed was the expression she wore. "This has happened every generation Fleur, the Dubois and Delacours have been rivals. But if we were to unify, it would make us all the richer,"
"How did you deal with your problem?" Harry asked. Isaac looked at the young man and smiled.
"You don't need to get jealous, she wants you, I can tell," The Frenchman winked at her cousin but couldn't help but smile a little bit. "Anyways, I told his sister the same thing I assume Fleur has told him but she didn't listen and my mother wanted me to at least try, but I just stuck to my guns and decided to go with the woman I loved,"
Fleur looked at him with a confused look. "I have known you all my life and I don't think I have seen you with a girl once,"
"Exactly!" Issac joyfully stated. "You think our family will be happy I got with a 'commoner'? No, that is a very bad thing. You're lucky that you got with nobility," Fleur looked at Harry who seemed to be just as confused as she was.
"Me?" Harry asked as he looked at the older Delacour.
"I thought the name Potter was familiar when my aunt was mentioning you to me. But I wasn't going crazy. Are you the son of James and Lily Potter?"
The Veela felt the Englishman clench her hand tighter and she noticed an uneasy look coming on his face. "Yes, why do you ask?"
Issac chuckled. "Not everyone in France hates the English. Interestingly enough, Voldemort is French. Well, at least his name is. 'Flight of death'…"
"Get to your point Isaac, "Fleur stated in an annoyed tone, she knew that if she didn't stop him, they would be there all day.
"Right, well anyways. The Potters are very powerful in the wizarding world if I remember correctly; the noseless bastard had the choice of either killing your parents or the Longbottoms. But fate had other plans and now we are here. But I did some digging and I found out that you are a direct descendant and if my sources are correct, the one true heir to the Potter name. Which makes you a noble," Fleur looked at Harry who seemed to be stunned that someone knew more about his family than he did himself.
"How do you know this?" Harry asked in English, seemingly forgetting how to think properly.
The young Frenchman chuckled. "I know I'm strange but when I want information, I get it. No matter zee cost. But from what I can tell, I don't zink our family knows about you or your family. But I do, but zat is a conversation for later," The young man turned towards his cousin. "The reason why I am here is that your parents have told me that they plan to marry you off to the Dubois after the display you showed today. They will be doing it sooner than later," Fleur clenched her jaw.
"They can't do that," Harry yelled.
Isaac placed his hand up. "I'm just the messenger, there is two option. Either you marry into the Dubois or you get disowned. Your mother said seeing you turn into a monster is unbearable and brought great shame to us all,"
Fleur and Harry looked at one another and before he could say anything. She spoke first and with vigor. "I choose the second option, I don't need the name anyways,"
Isaac chuckled. "I knew you would. Speaking of that. I would use your powers as little as possible, at least till you reach full maturity."
"Excuse me?"
"You're a half-Veela Fleur. You have the magic of a Veela but the body of a human. That kind of magic inside a mortal body will only cause more problems."
"You know, I never understood how you know all this stuff but always wait until the very worst time to tell anyone," The beauty stated sarcastically.
"Hmm, I think it's part of my charm," The young man stood up and bowed. "Well, it's fun but I have to get going. Before I forget, you two might need these" The young man reached into his jacket and pulled out two playing cards, and handed one to each of them. "Remember, the lotus always blooms in the water. And don't worry, I'll make sure your parents know you made your choice." With that, the young man quickly left the room, leaving the two alone.
The couple looked at their cards and noticed they had different ones, Fleur had seven of diamonds, and Harry a Jack of clubs. "What are these for?"
Fleur shrugged her shoulders and hugged the young man. "That's my cousin for you. He's a little weird but he means well. Most of the time,"
"It's been a crazy day, huh," He stated in a light tone. Fleur couldn't help but chuckle just a little bit.
"It 'as been, you're nobility and I got disowned. Life is weird, isn't eet?" He smiled and kissed the young woman on the forehead.
"Are you okay with that?"
The beauty sighed. "If I'm being 'onest, I don't know. But at least I can love who I want wizout being forced to marry." she looked at him and notice a worried look on his face. She knew why and placed a hand on his cheek. "Hey, even if I was married, I would still date you," Harry opened his mouth to say something but a confused look quickly came on his face. This made both of them laugh. "Zat didn't make a lot of sense did eet?"
"No, no it didn't" The pair kept laughing and soon he climbed onto the bed and lay on her chest. She wrapped her arms around him and pressed her face into the top of his head. "I love you, 'Arry,"
"I love you too,"
"That's not how you do it," Harry held back his laughter as the blonde beauty slowly climbed on top of the broom. Almost falling off instantly.
"You know zat I would be better at zis if you showed me 'ow to do zis."
"Do they not teach you how to ride brooms in France?" he stepped closer and held her upright.
"Well, most of zee of time when a boy asks me if I want to ride 'is broom. Eet means somezing else," Harry chuckled and observed her. His smile faded quickly.
"Are you sure you want to do this? You just got cleared."
Fleur sighed and stepped off the broom. She walked close to the young man, placing her hands tenderly on his chest. He responded by wrapping his arms around her thin waist. "I appreciate zat you care for me but after zee week we've 'ad. I could use some fun,"
Harry leaned down and pecked her on the lips. "I just don't want you to get hurt again," he placed his hand on her face, and she leaned in quickly. He was smiling widely.
"I know," she grasped his hands with hers gently. She was warm. The pair leaned closer as the young man wrapped his arms around his beloved. She buried herself into his chest. "I am zee luckiest girl in zee world,"
"Oh, don't flatter me now," he felt a sharp elbow in his size. "I'm kidding," a burst of soft laughter was heard from the beauty. He kissed the top of her head, he felt her lips curling into a smile on his chest. "You're per-" he felt her tense up. "You're okay," Fleur held back, with a poor attempt at hiding the laughter on her face.
"Really?"
"It's the best I could come up with," a short exchange of blank stares was followed shortly by a fit of laughter. She hugged him tightly once more. "I love it,"
Harry chuckled loudly as he leaned down slowly, she welcomed his lips happily.
"Sorry to break you two up, but we need you," a sharp tone appeared. Harry turned to face his friends, both wearing amused expressions.
"Poo," Fleur whispered under her breath as she leaned into Harry.
"You know, we could use the extra wand," Micheal stated as the two stepped closer. "And it doesn't hurt for you to duel with the first-place person right now," Finn rolled his eyes at the idea.
"She will steal all my tricks."
"Considering that I have heard people say she's Harry's equal, I think she will be fine." The Gryffindor jabbed.
"And who has said that?" Harry interjected.
"Mostly dudes who are jealous of you," The four of them burst into laughter. Harry noted that Fleur refused to let him go the entire time.
"What are you training?" the French beauty asked.
"Well, even though Harry knows what the third task is," Finn shot his friend a dirty look, Harry responded with an eye roll. "We are just dueling for now. Harry has been kicking my butt for a few days now," The Irishman looked at the pair with a curious look. "You know, now that you mention it, I kinda want to see you two duel," Harry looked down at the blue-eyed beauty. Who was already letting go of him and reaching for her wand.
"Come on,"
The wizard turned to his friends, who suddenly wore expressions of shock and pity. "Alright, well know I won't go easy on you,"
"I don't like my men easy Harry," she shot him a quick wink. She got into her stance, he quickly noted the French style of dueling in her stance. He readied himself and looked into her eyes. They were different, they were focused. He didn't recognize the woman across from him.
"You know, you agreed to this pretty quickly," Harry jokingly stated.
"Well, everyone always says 'ow strong you are, let see if it's true,"
"Alright, Micheal, are you the judge?"
"Like always," the gray-eyed wizard walked over to his spot. He illuminated the tip of the wand and held it to the sky. He turned over at Fleur first. "Ms. Delacour. Under the order of magic, do you agree to a fair and just duel?"
"I do," she stated sternly.
The Englishman turned over to his friend. "Mr. Potter. Under the order of magic, do you agree to a fair and just duel?"
"I do,"
"Start on my wand," The young man looked over the light. He waited with bated breath as the light quickly dropped to the ground. As he turned back, he was met with a bright ball of light, he deflected at the very last second.
"She's fast," Finn's voice rang out in the distance. Harry focused on the beauty. Her form was covered by the quick barrage of spells she threw at him. He found himself on the defense for the first time. He held up his defense, watching her every move.
He saw his opening. He had a hair of a second to hit it. Harry focused himself followed by a quick flick. The barrage of spells stopped abruptly. The young man reached up and grabbed the white wand from out of the air. "And there's Harry for you," Micheal added from the back.
The young man walked over and handed his beloved her wand. An annoyed look was written all over her face. "You got lucky,"
He rolled his eyes and leaned down. Their lips met once more. "Oh my god, you know I regret telling them to get together," Finn's voice echoed faintly in Harry's ear. He quickly pulled back and turned toward his friends. He felt her lean into his chest.
"You interrupted us for the record." He was met with a pair of eye rolls from his friends.
"Yeah, yeah," The pair slowly made their way over to the happy couple. "So what are you gonna do if you win?" The Irishman asked bluntly.
The beauty chuckled. "You can 'ave zee money if zat what you are asking,"
"I wasn't but I could use the money. No, I mean, as much as I hate to admit it. You were the favorite after this guy," he pointed to Harry with his thumb.
"Well, I didn't want to win in zee first place, so I don't know. Why do you ask?"
"The man just wants you to lose so he can brag about it," Micheal admitted with a devious grin. The three of them laughed at the redhead's expense.
"Yeah, yeah. Well forgive me, but what's the point of competing if you don't win,"
"Well, there's the honor of representing your school along with-" A giant hand soon covered the gray-eyed wizard's mouth.
"Shush. Fine, fine." His expression quickly changed. "Oh, Harry you know that book?"
"You finally figured out how to read it?"
"Not a clue,"
"Book?" Fleur asked as she looked at the boys.
"Oh, Finn is looking for some bow or something. Harry found this book when he was home for Christmas, it seems to tell us everything we need to know but we don't know how to read it." Micheal explained quickly as he reached into his bag.
"May I see it?" The trio watched as a curious expression came on her face. "Zis is Sumerian. Zee language." All three boys looked at the beauty in disbelief.
"You can read it?" Finn asked in an excited tone.
"Well kinda, I know runes. Eet was part of one of my classes."
"Well, what does it say?" Harry chuckled at his friend's excitement.
"Well, I'm not fluent in zee language but one of my professors is. I'm sure she will love to 'elp."
"When can we talk to her?" Finn practically lunged at the beauty.
"Easy boy," Micheal stated through his laughter.
"I'm sorry but she's back in France."
"Well, we are going to France this summer then boys, let's go," The couple watched as Finn quickly ran off in excitement. Micheal followed quickly not before a quick goodbye.
Fleur chuckled at his friends as she leaned into him once more. "Your friends are interesting, but I can see why you love zem,"
"Yeah, hey I got a quick question?"
"Hmm, you said that my family and I could stay with you," Her brow lifted slowly. "I was just wondering with the way that your parents react to me, I just wanted to know if that was still on the table,"
Fleur smiled and quickly kissed him. "Of course, why wouldn't be?"
"Well, the way you-"
"Stop eet," she stated sternly. "I'm wiz you because I love you. Not because I'm trying to get back at zem. I 'ave ozzer family zat aren't like zat." she placed her hand on his face. "I want to most zee most romantic summer wiz you. Just let me worry about it"
Harry smiled and pulled her in tightly. "I love you,"
"Love? These mortals are so foolish." One figure stated.
"They are strong brother, they won't disappoint." A figure dressed in black stated.
"They better not," the first figure stated coldly as they place a giant sword on their shoulders and walked away. The black hooded figure looked back down at the two mortals.
"Fate will always win in the end,"
