Unknown to the two deaged children; Severus Snape had been working meticulously for months to come up with a cure for the two Gryffindor's. It was a difficult task to complete; however after lots of overtime and dedication he'd finally come up with an antidote.
"Are you sure it will work Severus," Minerva asked, the staff of Hogwarts were sat round a large oak table, all eyes were on the purple shimmery liquid in front of the potions master.
"I am, it will re-age them to the correct ages," he nodded.
"Finally, they've been a terror on this establishment," the Gryffindor head bemoaned.
"They weren't that bad, lively sure but it was nice having children in the castle," Pomona commented, always one to find the silver lining in any situation.
"You weren't tied up in your own hospital wing and hit in the face with a fish," Poppy shuddered.
"I think we can all agree they are nightmares, how the Grangers or Weasley's coped with them I have no idea, they almost destroyed the school," Aurora Sinistra informed them.
"It's been good for interhouse unity, never would I have thought a Malfoy and a Weasley would be friends let alone form a romantic Relationship," Filius told them.
"I'll give it to them at the ball, how long will it be before the potion takes effect Severus," Albus asked his eyes sparkling.
"Five hours would be my guess, give it to them late and once they go to bed, they should sleep through the shift," Severus responded.
"What will they recall," Minerva asked worriedly.
"Everything, I expect come Christmas morning we'll have two very apologetic Gryffindor's on our hands," he said a sneer on his face.
Albus Dumbledore had a very pleasant conversation with the two five-year-olds and watched on with a chuckle as the pair kept returning to the chocolate fountain and treat tables, their formal ware ruined from the liquid chocolate. He'd given them the potion Severus had brewed and enjoyed watching their final night as children; so carefree and innocent; He'd realised the world was getting darker, could feel the shift in the air, he wished all the students of Hogwarts could keep such childhood innocence, but he could tell a war was coming; a war that would affect all of them in one way or another. He hoped; they'd look back on their time de-aged fondly, even if they did cause quite a bit of trouble in their de-aged states. Tomorrow Fred Weasley and Hermione Granger would be re-aged after over four months as five-year-olds. His one hope was that this could be a teaching moment; perhaps students like Draco would chose to fight for the light; he certainly seemed close to Miss Weasley and liked Miss Granger in her deaged state; hopefully, when the time came, he'd chose these new friendships over blood. Only time would tell.
That night: Fred and Hermione crashed on the sofas of the Gryffindor Common Room; Ginny and George carried the pair up to their dorm rooms and settled them into their beds. Professor Dumbledore had sent them letters informing them of what was to happen; that night they sat vigil watching over the young children; shortly after three in the morning the potion took effect. George watched as his twin re-aged turning into a double of himself while in the girl's dorm, Ginny watched Hermione grow up, returning to her own self. It was strangely sad knowing that the five-year-old versions of them were gone, over four months they'd grown attached to the children, but they were happy to have them back to themselves.
