I'M BACK! It's been a long time since I wrote a Five-0 story. However, in going through some of my old ones, a new story came to mind. I'm going to try this and see where it goes! This story will involve the original cast: Steve, Danny, Chin, Kono, Max, Jerry, Catherine….and probably some Kamekona and Flippa as well as other favorites thrown in.
That being said, I've missed all of you. Please read this "teaser" chapter and let me know if you think it should continue.
Also as an "FYI" for those of you who may be new to my stories, this idea came while I was reading one of my most loved stories titled "Unexpected Family". It will be LOOSELY based on what I did there, although this time Catherine will be part of the story instead of having an "OC" for Steve. I always shipped McRollins, and honestly, I miss them. I'm curious to see what would happen if a part of Steve's past came back to shake things up.
Here we go….Let me know what you think.

Chin Ho Kelly and Kono Kalakaua walked into Five-0 headquarters with expressions on their faces that Danny couldn't decipher.
"What's up?" he asked as he looked between the two of them quizzically.
The cousins shared a knowing glance.
"Is Steve here?" Chin asked.
Danny confirmed that Steve was not in the office but had gone down to the coroner's office with Grover on a case they were currently working.
"Good! Because we may have a big problem," he said.
Danny grimaced. "Ummmm….okay buddy…Maybe be more specific since your expressions are telling me it's clearly unusual or unexpected?"
"Possibly the understatement of the century since this could be really unusual and unexpected," Kono said.
"Why are you both acting so goofy? What's going on?"
"Maybe we should go into your office to talk" Chin suggested.
The trio walked into Danny's office and Kono closed the door behind them in case anyone came back before their conversation was over.
"As you know, we had a call from Duke earlier asking us to go by the hospital to check on a 'Jane Doe'" Kono began.
Danny leaned onto the corner of his desk and crossed his arms in front of him. "Yeah….The girl who was found passed out on a hiking trail this morning. What about it?"
Chin sighed. "Well, there's a high probability she's another victim in the case we're working."
The case involved female athletes at the University of Hawaii and substance abuse, human trafficking with possible Yakuza connections. In fact, the victim Steve and Lou had gone to talk to Max about was the first girl who had been found dead with all of the connections described. It had ramped up their determination to find the supplier (or suppliers) before any more girls ended up on Max's table.
"HPD recovered a backpack in the area that had her identification and some other things in it," Chin continued. "Her name is Madison Tomlin. Turns out she's a freshman at the University of Hawaii and a member of the varsity women's basketball team."
"Okay…So we have another possible victim who can hopefully give us information on finding this creep. Why are you both acting so weird about that?" Danny asked.
"The reason Duke wanted us to check her out was because a search of her ID found her mother's name was Morgan Tomlin," Kono said. "They couldn't find any information on her father. The thing is, Duke remembered that Steve dated someone named Morgan Tomlin in high school. "
Kono looked to Chin who continued the story. "Steve and Morgan were apparently the stereotypical high school couple; Star quarterback dating the head cheerleader. Duke remembered John talking about them…so when Duke called me about it to see if her name rang a bell, I remembered the stories as well. To be so young, Steve and Morgan seemed to be quite serious about one another. I can tell you for a fact that John always regretted not letting them say goodbye before he sent Steve away."
Danny was beginning to see where this was going but was almost afraid to ask. "Are you telling me you think this girl is Steve's daughter?-And he doesn't know about it?"
Rather than giving a direct answer, Chin pulled out his phone, pulled up a picture, and showed it to Danny.
Danny's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Wow."
He was looking at a beautiful girl with long dark hair, piercing blue eyes, and a smile he would bet his next paycheck she'd inherited from Steven John McGarrett.
"So did you talk to her?" Danny asked.
Chin shook his head. "We did…..and before you ask….if McGarrett is her dad, she doesn't seem to know. She wasn't really open to telling us very much."
"What about her mom?"
"She passed away last year…..Cancer. Sadly, she has no other relatives and decided to come to college here because she knew it's where her mom was from," Kono said. "Poor girl seems to be alone."
"So lets review," Danny said as he clapped his hands together. "Someone walks up on the trail early this morning and sees a girl being assaulted…..He tries to chase down the perp, but they get away. When he comes back to Madison, she's unconscious so he calls 9-1-1 and gets her to a hospital. What does she say about it? Does she remember anything?"
"She remembers," Kono answered definitively. "But she wouldn't talk to us. She was definitely hiding something. The hospital is keeping her overnight for observation and the doctor did tell us they were running a drug panel to see if anything is present in her system. He'll get back to us on that…..but she'll most likely be released tomorrow."
Danny let out a long sigh and ran a hand over his face. If any of this was true, he could only imagine how Steve was going to react. "Okay….so I say we keep this quiet for now. We need to find out a little more about her before we give too many details to Steve. Kono, go back again and see if you can get any more out of her….Maybe she'll talk to you alone. Chin, get with Jerry…..See if you can find a birth certificate or any other medical records on her. Maybe a father's name was listed somewhere. In the meantime, I will try to keep Steve off this part of the trail until we know more."

A man walked into the Five-0 office with the required "Visitors" tag and Steve was there to greet him.
"Mr. Mahelona, I'm Lt. Cmdr Steve McGarrett. Thank you for coming down to talk to us."
He took Steve's hand in his. "Of course, Commander. I want to do whatever I can to help find this guy. How is the young lady? Is she okay?"
"A member of my team is talking to her now, but from what I've heard, she's going to be okay."
Steve took the man into his office and Danny followed close behind.

Meanwhile…
Kono walked into Madison Tomlin's hospital room to find she had visitors.
She flashed her friendliest smile. "Hi, Madison. I was wondering if we could talk again….Just for a few minutes?"
Madison looked at her friends, "Can you give us a few minutes?"
After the girls left, Kono pulled up a chair to sit down beside her. "How are you feeling? Any better?"
"I'm doing okay," Madison answered. "Just ready to get out of here and get back to our apartment…..but the doctor says he won't release me until tomorrow."
"Those are your roommates?" Kono asked as she looked out to the girls who were trying not to give away the fact that they were eavesdropping in the hall.
Madison shook her head, "Yes. We live in one of the student suites on campus. Liza, Megan and I are on the basketball team together. Cassie is with us 'just because'."
Kono wanted to keep the conversation light and friendly before getting more serious. "So by 'just because' you mean that she got stuck with you because of housing recommendations?"
Madison chuckled. "I guess so….But other than the fact she doesn't know squat about sports, she's so much like us. It's been great. They're like my sisters."
"I remember that," Kono said. "Do you know that three of my roommates from college and I still take a 'Girl's Trip' together every year?"
Madison smiled but didn't answer.
"So what are you studying? Have you decided on a Major?"
"Not 100% sure, but I think I want to go into Forensic Psychology."
Kono sat up straighter and her grin grew wider.
An overachiever? Definitely McGarrett's daughter, she mused .
"Wow…..That's quite a challenging Major. Good for you."
They sat quietly for a moment as Madison looked down at her hands folded in her lap. "I know the real reason you're here." Her voice was so quiet, Kono almost didn't hear her. "I mean…..I know you want to know what happened today, but I know the other reason you're here."
"Oh? And why's that?" she asked.
Madison looked at Kono with tears brimming in her eyes. "You want to know if I'm Steve McGarrett's daughter."
Kono was at a loss for words. This was a twist she definitely wasn't expecting. "How do you know about Steve McGarrett?"
"You know about my mom, right? She….umm…She died…..last year."
"Yes," Kono confirmed as she reached out to take her hand. "Madison, I'm so sorry."
She shrugged her shoulder, sniffed, and wiped a stray tear. They both sat silently for a few minutes; Kono wanted to give her time to gather her thoughts and say what was on her heart.
Madison shifted her focus towards the wall….looking at nothing in particular.
"When she knew she was going to die, Mom started talking….Telling me things she thought I should know; especially about him."
Kono's expression softened. She couldn't imagine losing her mother at such a young age, having no other family, and feeling so utterly alone.
"She didn't tell me a lot. Just told me that Steve McGarrett was her first boyfriend…..Her first kiss….Her first love…..Her first 'everything'. They were high school sweethearts and Momma thought they'd be together forever…..You know, 'young love' and all that crap…." Madison said before shooting a glance at Kono.
Then she released a sigh. "BUT…he left without saying goodbye when they were seniors in high school. His dad told her it couldn't be helped…Said he was trying to keep his son safe…..but my mom didn't hear from him for awhile."
"Then what happened?" Kono asked sincerely curious.
"Several years passed…My mom moved to Santa Monica because she had a cousin who lived there. She said she needed to get away from Hawaii and all the memories she had here after Steve left. Then apparently, he looked her up one weekend when he was in Coronado."
Kono didn't need for her to say anymore to know what had happened. Morgan and Steve must have had quite a 'reunion'.
"Yup," Madison said reading Kono's expression. "That weekend apparently made ME…..Then, Steve finished his SEAL training, started getting deployed, forgot about my mom…..and the rest is history."

So what do you think? Please review…Should I continue?
