The Going Home Club

"Ugh, I can't believe our mixer got cancelled!" said a student of Shibuya High School, his displeasure evident.

"Hey, the girls said they were busy, okay?" replied his friend, ruffling his dyed brown hair, his eyes obviously averted.

"Sure," said the first boy. His hair was naturally black, and unlike his friend and most teenagers their age, it wasn't dyed. "I bet you forgot to get a third person so they pulled out."

...

"Okay, fine. Sorry."

The high-school student rolled his eyes at his incapable friend. "Couldn't you have asked someone? Anyone?"

"No! Everyone else couldn't come. They all have clubs after school or something."

Also unlike most others their age, these two boys did not commit themselves to an after-school club, instead, defaulting to what everyone liked to call 'The Going Home Club'.

"How about that Sakuraba guy in your class? He never seems to be doing anything."

The brunette thought about it.

"Nah, he's got that lone wolf vibe. It's really hard to approach him."

"Yeah, but he doesn't seem to look as emo nowadays, doncha think?"

"Well, yeah. Kinda. He doesn't ignore people anymore. I mean it's not like he talks to us but he apologises if he bumps into someone now. Before he'd just make this scary face and say 'watch where you're going' and walk off."

"In other words he's just less rude."

"Pretty much. Don't think that'd be sociable enough for him to jump to the level of dating, so I didn't ask."

"Huh. Guess that makes sense - wait, isn't that him?"

Neku himself walked past the two friends -

with a girl.

A cute one, at that.

"…That…must be his sister, right?" the black-haired boy asked.

"I don't think he has siblings. She doesn't look related to him." Neku's classmate gawked at him.

The girl that was with him was holding a plush black cat, and was smiling widely at him as she chatted to him.

"Is the Sakuraba smiling?"

"…He is. He is!"

Curiosity, getting the better of both of them, they strained their ears to try to listen to their conversation. They didn't get much, but…

"Sounds like they're headed to 104? For shopping?"

"Wait a minute," said the brunette, realisation dawning on him. "Is he on a date?"

The two looked at each other. Then back at Neku and the girl. Then back at each other again.

"He's on a 'freakin date! Him! The hell?"

"I don't believe this! C'mon, we're tailing them!"

"Damn right we are."

Because, hey, they had nothing better to do.

A/N: Tadaa! Dina swoops in with the linked chapter to 'Classmates' :D Hey guys. It's been kind of a while. Not as long as the gap from last time but still a gap. Ahem. Anyway, thought it would be fun to see what Neku's school-mates think of him. If you compare them with Shiki's I think they'd have different opinions.

Anyway, thank you to: B.A.G-GOMEZ, cutekitty5597, RagnartheSemiGreen, A Paper Flower, I'll Break Your Heart, Xerzo LotCN, ElementLegend, Aviantei, RavenKhaotic and tech60 for the lovely, lovely reviews.

Thanks for reading!
