Prologue: Opening the doors to Receive the Guests
Today was the day… His 'work' -it was more of a task or an obligation to be honest- will begin.
He didn't feel alright with it.
While he was now used to combat, this was different. He still wouldn't really die even if he does die in what is waiting for him... but the others…
It still felt wrong.
All of it felt wrong. They were supposed to be done with the work at-
*Snap*
"Woah!" he shouted as he was suddenly transported from his room into an office in a literal snap.
"There you are." a voice said from behind the big desk filled with books.
"M-Miss Angela!"
Angela, the Director of this place, the Library. She had short light-blue hair, yellow eyes, and pale skin. Her Librarian style attire was a dark outfit with a long coat, a white and black cravat, and heels. Her pendant attached to her cravat is an amber color with the orbs on her heels sharing the same highlight color. She was looking at the blank pages of a large book in front of her.
"Hmm… Those clothes fit you well." she first said.
He was wearing a black suit with white tie, white pants and some knee high black boots that he wasn't a fan of. His costume was slightly different that what the others will wear so they can be differentiated. For starters his suit didn't have sleeves and he didn't have gloves. His tie had black stripes too.
"You know why I summoned you, right?" she asked.
"Y-Yeah…"
"Are you ready to start?" she asked again.
"I… I don't know…" he said in a dejected tone.
At hearing the answer, Angela sighed and stood up from her desk, closed the book and took it under her arm. She then walked to him and said:
"You do remember why we're doing what we're going to do, right? I need to get back the Light so we can all get out of here. I want to get out as much as you do. Also, all your friends need you."
"I know, I know… I just… I'm wondering if I'm really the right person for the task. I mean. What we're going to do…"
Angela let out another annoyed sigh, she already explained that a couple of times before but seems like he still wasn't ready for what they were about to do.
"I chose you because I've been watching your work for quite some time. You're the one I trust the most and I believe you're the most suited to becoming my assistant."
"Really?" he said with wide eyes, Angela very very rarely praised anyone, so he was a bit surprised. "But what about the Sephirah? Or veter-"
"They will all have their role when the time comes. As I said, you're the one I trust the most."
He was about to scratch his head in an embarrassing way until she interrupted him.
"Don't get too cocky, I trust you this much." she raised her hand with her thumb and index extended, the tips barely touching, there was probably one tenth of an inch separating them.
"Oh."
"But it's more than enough for me to assign you this important task. So again… Are you ready to start?" She asked… For the last time, "If you are really not sure and still hesitant, I can replace you but I don't know when you'll awake again." She added a warning this time.
"It's alright, that won't be necessary."
At hearing this, Angela raised an eyebrow at him, curious.
"I still ain't sure that I'm the right person for this, but I'm not going to give up this opportunity. I will work with you, Miss Angela. I want to save and set everyone free once and for all."
Angela had a small smile appear on her face, but then he added.
"That means you too, Miss Angela." he said, his voice full of determination… no, full of hope.
Angela was now surprised, her eyes widened just a bit as she blinked twice. She let out a scuff,
"Trying to sweet talk to me won't make me any less strict."
"I-I wasn't trying to-" he stammered, his face red of embarrassment.
"Your friends were right, you're very easy to talk to, that must be why you can make friends with pretty much anyone. Alright then, are we ready to open the Library, Naegi Makoto?"
"Yes Miss Angela."
The ex-Ultimate Luckster of Class 78 of Hope's Peak Academy walked towards his new boss and walked besides her towards the room where they'll send 'invitations' to the Library.
What will come through the doors of this strange place known as 'the Library', no one knows.
But if it's to save everyone and set them free, Naegi was ready to 'receive' the Guests with a smile.
