He's All Grown Up Now
Chapter 1: Sirius
Death was a strange thing. It might seem scary or horrific to some, but to others, it's just life after death. And that's what it was to The Marauders, Lily, Tonks, Dumbledore and Fred, who had been reunited Above. James and Lily had watched all of their son's most important moments, from taking his first steps, to receiving his Hogwarts letter. They watched as he battled mountain trolls and basilisks, and as he met Sirius and Remus in his third year. Lily had sobbed every time her son heard her dying words every time he came near a dementor. They held each other as they watched their son come face to face with Voldemort after winning the Triwizard Cup with Cedric Diggory, and as he battled visions from Voldemort, and started Dumbeldore's Army. The viewing of Siruis' death was one of the worst events James and Lily ever saw. They had just been for a stroll around Above and had settled down to watch their son together. Lily could feel that the year's events were coming to a climax, and she held James' hand as they watched with bated breath. They stared as Harry and his friends battled the Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries and groaned when Harry realised that Sirius was not there. By the time the Order of the Phoenix arrived, Lily had silent tears rolling down her cheeks, and James was pale, his lips pressed tightly together. She shuffled closer to her husband and put her arms around him as they watched on, horrified. They watched the battle with no intentions of looking at a single persons' duel, but Lily could tell that her husband was sneaking furtive glances towards where Sirius and Remus were duelling. Lily let out a small gasp when she noticed that Sirius was duelling Bellatrix, but her husband was too distraught to notice the sound. Tears were welling up in James' eyes, and Lily knew that her husband suspected that Sirius would never see another sunrise on Earth. He was right. James began shaking uncontrollably with suppressed tears, and Lily rubbed his back comfortingly as he sobbed for his son's loss. For Remus' loss. "You can let it out James, honey." And he did just that. James sobbed for hours and hours in Lily's arms, and Lily sobbed with her husband as she watched her 15-year old son smash up Dumbledore's possessions in pure rage. She watched as he fell away from his friends with his depression, and Lily wished nothing more than to scoop her boy up in his arms and hold him, tell him that everything was going to be okay. Lily distantly felt her husband's arms wrap around her and hold her tightly, and they sobbed together on the floor, holding tightly to each other.
Sirius' POV:
Sirius travelled through passages lit with celestial golden light, his feet making no sound. He felt regret and grief so deep he couldn't think straight. He had just left Harry, his treasured godson, his best mate's son, to deal with the brutal grief of losing a father figure. He had left Remus, the last true Marauder, to deal with the grief of losing his last true friend, and look after Harry. Sirius sighed. He knew that somehow, Harry would get through it all, and, if Sirius was correct, a certain red-head might just help him get to the other side of the war. With this positive thought, Sirius was thrown into a blinding white doorway, and into Above. Precious golden light filtered through the air, and Sirius felt peace, true peace that he had not felt since the end of his Hogwarts years. And then he saw them. James was crumpled up on Lily's lap, shaking and shivering, and Lily, whose eyes were red and blotchy, was whispering comforting words into his ear. Lily looked up slightly, and her eyes widened in shock when she saw Sirius. He put a finger to his lips and crept toward where the body of his best mate was, and he could hear large hiccupping sounds as he got closer. He smiled at Lily, before gently placing a hand on his friend's back. "James, mate, I'm here. I'm here."
James POV:
James could not believe what he was hearing. "It's just your imagination, James. Sirius fell through the curtain thing, and he stayed there after his death. He wasn't killed the normal way. It's just your grief." But James couldn't help checking. He looked up, and saw the bright green eyes of his beloved wife, and gave her a loving kiss. James felt her mysteriously smile against his lips, and then turned him around to face- "Siri-Sirius… What? How? The Veil?" James was absolutely bewildered, which was not a personality he often had. He thought it was a trick, that he was just dreaming, but it was so real.
"James, I don't know how I got here, but the main thing is that you're here. We are together again, and we can watch that son of yours grow up into the great man he will be." James grinned at his best friend, ecstatic that he was here. Sirius sat down next to him and Lily, and James grabbed Sirius in a rib-crushing hug, and they collapsed on the floor. Lily soon joined them, and they laughed together for hours.
