A war cry left Kili's lips as his blade slayed another orc. The bodies behind the Dwarf were steadily growing, but Kili had no time to think about that as the orcs were still high in number.

"KILI!" A voice yelled,

But Kili had no time to reply as he was surrounded by three orcs. Gripping his sword firmly, he spun on his heel and blocked a life-threatening blow from the orc behind him. He swiftly shoved the orc back and slashed his sword against its body armour. The orc stumbled back, but recovered quicker than Kili had hoped.

Ducking, Kili narrowly missed the sword aiming for his head. He swept his sword at the orc's legs and sliced through to the bone, causing the orc to fall to its knees. He then turned and began a fight with the orc to his left, which ended with the young Dwarf twisting the orc's arms behind its back and making it drop its weapon. It was then that he heard his name being called again.

"KILI!" He recognized that voice.

"TAURIEL!" He yelled,

A scream followed his reply which made his blood run cold. The young Dwarf kicked the back of the orc's knees and made quick work of killing it before diving down the steps in a roll and narrowly missing the blow to his head. Springing to his feet, he struck the orc across the chest and kicked it firmly in the chest. He turned on his feet and looked towards Tauriel. He briefly watched as she sliced and moved her body gracefully around the pale orc Bolg, dodging his blows. But he couldn't watch long and turned on his feet to fight the next orc.

Another cry sounded seconds later and his eyes met a scene that made his heart stop. Tauriel was being lifted into the air by the orc, its scarred hand wrapped around her throat. First his brother and now his Tauriel.

He ran towards the pair, his heart in his throat. He dodged blows and cut down any orc that stood in his way. Tauriel had just been thrown against a nearby rock and Bolg was prowling towards her, his gnarly weapon from his back now in his hand.

It was then that Kili reached them and leapt onto the back of the orc, his sword raised in a motion to stab through its head. However, he missed as Bolg had brought up his weapon and blocked the Dwarf's blow with the shaft. Kili grunted as he tried to pull his blade against Bolg's weapon, but the orc was too strong and there was nothing Kili could do.

The air was knocked out of him as his body made contact with the stone stairs. The impact made him inhale sharply, but he had no time to waste. A growl left him as he got to his feet and faced the sadistic orc who was grinning in delight. With hate in his eyes, Kili charged. Their weapons clashed. Kili ducked and striked Bolg's abdomen but the orc reacted quicker than the ones he had previously fought.

Kili went to pull back and deal the orc another blow. But before he could Bolg grabbed his sword arm, yanked him towards his pale body and punched Kili in the face; stunning him. Kili watched in a daze as the orc lifted its weapon above his chest, he could just make out the bottom of the shaft, which ended in a sharp point. He was going to die.

During their fight, Tauriel had stood up and crept behind the orc, weaponless. With a yell, the Elf leapt onto the orc's back and grabbed its weapon, holding it back from Kili's chest. Tauriel tried to take the weapon from Bolg, but it was all for naught. The orc shoved her off his back and sent her rolling towards the edge of the cliff. A shuddering breath left Tauriel, her entire body ached and she was bleeding from many wounds. She was spent and could do nothing but watch as Bolg once more raised his weapon above Kili.

The hum of Alexa's lightsaber and the thump of wood sounded, followed by the tearing of cloth. Alexa and Fili had just taken down Azog's war flags, until only the stumps of the posts were left. The battle below still raged on, the clashing of metal on metal echoed in their ears. The pair had not spoken since leaving the hidden room.

Fili was still reeling from seeing Alexa's dead colleagues. Had he hallucinated the entire thing? Was he going crazy? Thoughts rushed through his mind a mile a minute, many of them being about the parchment the tall alien guy gave her and the man they talked of. But mostly the fact that Ben was their son?! The worst part of all, was that she was acting as if it didn't even happen. He couldn't take it anymore.

"Why didn't you tell us?"

Alexa sighed and secured her deactivated lightsaber onto her belt. She had been wondering when he was going to break his silence. "Tell you what?"

Fili clicked his tongue, "Oh I don't know," he sighed, pretending to think about it. "Maybe about how Ben is your son, shared with another Jedi that you were ENGAGED to?!" Alexa was silent.

Fili sighed, "Why didn't you tell us?" He repeated. When he was met with more silence, he tried again. "Was it because of the Jedi Code? It doesn't exist out here Alexa, there is no need to hide your feelings or your past,"

"It doesn't matter, we have to go," Alexa replied, walking past Fili, but the Dwarf was having none of that and grabbed her arm.

"Alexa, please." he whispered. Alexa looked down at his hand around her arm, the woman knew he wasn't about to drop the subject and she didn't see another way out of this; she had to tell him.

Damn it. A lump grew in Alexa's throat and the tears she had wiped from her eyes began to grow again. "I didn't tell anyone because…" a tear escaped and rolled down her cheek, "Because there is a good chance that I will never see him again,"

Fili let go of her arm. "You don't know that,"

Alexa scoffed at his words, "Yes, I do! Like you said the Jedi don't exist out here, who's to say that this is even the correct universe? Until arriving here, I had never heard of Middle Earth, so no it is not all to do with the Jedi Code. Of course, part of it is, but not wholly."

She bit her trembling lip, "I did not tell you because the thought that I may never see him again threatens to tear me apart. We could feel each other with the force, sense the other's presence and be systems apart! We had a bond that ran deeper than our feelings. What we had bound us spiritually."

Fili's eyebrows were drawn together as if lost in thought. Alexa continued, her voice quieter than before. "I haven't felt his presence since the day I arrived here, which made it easy for me to believe that he had died. But now, it only proves just how far away we are from each other…" She had never said it aloud before, but she knew it was true. The crater in her soul proved it to be true. Oh, how she wished she could see him just one last time. Even if it was brief, it would still be closure, it would still be enough.

"This is why the Jedi are not allowed to have attachments," She whispered to herself, though she wouldn't be surprised if Fili heard it anyway.

Fili didn't know what to say to that, he didn't know where to begin. "I'm sorry,"

The only thing worse than Alexa exposing her heart and fears to Fili was the silence that followed afterwards. Which is why Alexa was partly glad that a few orcs had stumbled upon them and seen the torn flags. Emphasis on the partly.

The orc kicked Alexa in the stomach, the force of the impact causing her to fall back against a rock. Alexa inhaled a sharp breath as the air was knocked out of her, she had no time to recover as the orc advanced. She tried to get up, but her legs collapsed beneath her and she didn't need to look to know why. The bandage on her leg wasn't doing much now as her blood seeped through, staining the cloth a deep red.

The orc was so close she could smell its breath. It grinned wickedly at her and raised its weapon for a killing blow. Just as the orc was starting to bring its sword down, a sword appeared in its stomach. The orc had but a second to look down at the blade, before its head was removed.

"Thanks Fili," Alexa said.

"Don't mention it," Fili replied as he lifted her up.

Alexa grimaced as she got to her feet, her bandaged leg wobbled; Fili saw this. "Come on," he said as he ripped off a piece of his tunic and secured it around her bleeding leg. "We need to get you to safety." He held out his arm for her to take.

He would make a great King, Alexa suddenly thought, if he survived this battle. Alexa shook her head, refusing his arm. "No Fili, don't worry about me,"

An incredulous look appeared on Fili's face. "Don't worry?! Alexa you can barely stand!"

"But I can stand," Alexa quipped back, raising her arms as if to say 'see'.

He let out a huff, this woman could almost be a Dwarf. She was that stubborn. "That's not the point! Besides, Dwalin will have my head if he finds out I left you,"

"I'll deal with Dwalin, don't worry," she assured the Dwarf.

"But-"Fili began, but Alexa cut him off.

"No Fili, you have to leave now. Leave now and find your brother." His fate depends on it. Though she didn't say that.

The Dwarf remained adamant, "I'm not leaving you,"

She smiled at Fili's words, yet sighed at his stubbornness. "There's no time to explain how I know, but you must find your brother. He is in danger Fili."

"What makes you say that?" He asked warily, anxious to hear her answer.

Alexa grasped his arm gently, "Remember, he and your uncle think you're dead. They will not be acting like themselves. You must go to Kili now and get as far as you can away from Ravenhill, or he will die." She finished.

"What about uncle?" Fili said suddenly,

"I've got him. Now go!" Alexa replied and let go of his arm.

Fili went to leave, but looked back at Alexa. The blonde Dwarf took a few steps towards her and embraced her. "May the force be with you," Alexa nodded and hugged him tighter at his words. "May the force be with you Fili,"

The two released their hold on the other with a smile. Alexa watched as the young Dwarf prince ran towards the calls of Tauriel yelling for his brother, "Goodbye Fili," she whispered.
