Hello again! Last couple of months has been hectic but I have finally graduated community college and going to start my next step in life. Which means, now I'm on vacation and I have plenty of time to do more chapters as I can, unless I must help some Fanfiction user friends with theories to send for their stories and of course some people don't keep me busy in the house, sometimes it's hard being the youngest in the family LOL.
Oh and I've changed Laila's father's name from the last chapter. Check it out before you read this.
Due to my absence, I make it up to you all with updated two chapters to give you back a good mood.
Anyway, here is Laila's present life.
I do not own Kingdom Hearts. I only own my OC.
Chapter 3: Laila
Normal POV
10 years later, 2013, Present…
Laila shot up in her full bed, taking deep breaths. She looked around and was safe in her room and knew that it was only a dream. Her bedroom was dimmed, with the curtains blocking out the morning sunlight.
She looked on her left, at the alarm clock on her nightstand. It is 7 a.m., then groaned with her head down. She placed her hand on her forehead, realize that there are sweat drops on it, and wipe them away. While armrest on her supporting leg in sitting pose, she looks up to the ceiling and thought about the dreams she had in the past.
'What do those dreams mean? For the past years, I have been searching for answers of the incidents but nothing. After the day of the incident, my cousins, Ricky and Bryan, been playing the game 'Kingdom Hearts' on PS2 and I was captivated by the boy, Sora I think? which is a wonderful name, helping the Disney Characters that I know in need. So, I have decided to watch the game whenever I come to visit my aunt's apartment and the boys were playing video games, but I only saw some parts of the game during my visits. My brother, Leonel, even tried to get the game/PS2 to play, one time on his 10th birthday in 2006, Leo borrowed our neighbor/friend's Kingdom Hearts for his PS2 he bought as a gift but as soon as he turned it on, the system is fine, but the disc is not, it keeps frozen up every minute from the opening. In 2008, on the day of his 12th birthday, he got Kingdom Hearts 2 with my mother in the store. Since I did not see the 1st game completely, I decided to continue the story on the 2nd one, even played it a little with Leo. When I first saw Sora's restoration dreams, my heart melted by each scene and same music, I understand why Kingdom Hearts was so precious to all fans out there. But… that incident… when I was little and passed out. I could have sworn I heard a voice speak to me as I was asleep… where did it come from?' She thought.
"Laila! Cariño, es hora de levantarte para tu último día de clase, el desayuno estará listo en diez minutos. (Sweetie, it's time to get up for your last day of school, breakfast will be ready in ten minutes.)" A feminine voice called through her door.
Snapped from her thoughts, her mother, Elizabeth, is calling her to get up. Laila sighed and grabbed her glasses from the nightstand to put them on.
"Ya voy, Mamá! (Coming, Mom!)" Laila exclaimed.
As soon as she gets from her full bed, she went to the crystal tufted full-length mirror and looked at herself.
Now 14 years old. Appearing black/raven 14" shoulder length wavy hair, light medium skin with a freckle near nose bridge on her right side, and finally her special appearance is her Sapphire Blue eyes. Wearing her pajamas, a pale blue sleeveless top with a big deep blue heart and capri pants filled all over with little deep blue hearts.
She looked slugged, probably because she finished the last 2 final projects before summer vacation. Rubbing her eyes, Laila went to the closet to look for a casual clothing to wear. She took out a Floral Print Puff Sleeve Top, White Skinny Jeans, and Light Pink Flats then lay them on the edge of the made full bed. Next, she took out her accessories which there are 2 pink flower earring studs and pink rose hair clip.
After showering at the end of the hallway, Laila returned to her room to put on her undergarments then the clothes she laid for the day. She went up to the mirror once again and starting to fix her hair by styling it into a part to the right side half up basic braids then secure it by putting the pink rose hair clip on the back of her head between her braids. Now, for the crowning touch, she'd put on her silver clover heart locket necklace with each photo of her family, Her Mother, Father, Herman, and Leonel. The front is engraved with decorative flowers.
Smiling for a good mood of her clothes, Laila exits her room and headed to the kitchen that is close to the breakfast table and family room.
'This is my life. Sure, it may look normal but sometimes I feel like nothing exciting ever happened, Me and my family lived in a one-story house; it's supposed to be a two story after my parents promised and bought it, but it turns out those house builders were so lazy they're wasting time.' she thought in narrating.
Once she's in the kitchen, she greeted her mother who was cooking eggs and Colombian sausages and buñuelos on the stove.
"Good morning, Mom." Laila said as she kissed her on the cheek.
"Buenos dias, mi nena. (Good morning, my baby.)" Elizabeth replied, returned her smile.
'This is my lovely mother, Elizabeth. She's a very strong and hardworking woman that I know in life, she worked as a nurse assistant for years in a clinic, probably the best in the wall of fame. She has a heart of gold to this family no matter what problems we have including me; she always got my back and I got hers, even though she may have a short temper. However, she speaks English a little and fluent Spanish due to her culture but she's still learning, just needs to learn vocabulary more like me. Last, she's a marvelous cook, nobody can make great meals like her, which is why I am following her footsteps of cooking.'
Her mother passed her served plate to Laila. Once she has it, she moved to the breakfast table where the men are already devouring their food. She is sitting in the middle along with her big brothers on either side of the table. An older young man has short black hair, dark brown eyes, medium beige skin, muscular arms and chest, and much taller than his younger siblings. And the other was a year older than Laila has short wavy black/raven hair, light medium skin, dark brown eyes with a little scar above his right eyebrow, and dimples.
"Morning, bros." Laila said in a wide smile as she raised both of her hands in fists to them.
"Morning, Laila/baby sis." Leonel and Herman said in unison as they returned to fist bump on hers.
'On my right, is my eldest brother, Herman. Well, half-brother, you see, my mother was married once to another man then have him, but unknown, his father was murdered. Then later, she got remarried to my father and have me and Leonel. Even though Herman is my half-brother, He's more of a real big brother to me in flesh and blood. And now, he's educating and football player in university to become whatever he wants to be; so pretty much, he's a dreamer like me. He loved me and Leo so much, he showed me many things about entertainment especially animals. His favorite is killer whales or orcas as you would call it. I know they're kind of dangerous, but he can't help it, I guess he got that from the movies 'Free Willy & Free Willy 2' on our VHS. And that's why I love about him, he's crazy… in a good way.'
"Slept well, baby sis?" Herman said, before drinking his breakfast protein.
"Yup." Laila replied, after praying for her breakfast.
"Aren't you excited for your 8th grade celebration party on your last day?" He curiously asked.
Laila shrugged and took a bite of the sausage. "I guess… it's just another year where I go to a party with no guy friend to dance with."
"Aw cheer up, Laila. You'll find somebody soon; you just have to be patient." Leonel said.
"Yeah right. I have been patient for 14 years and not a single boy who wants to get to know me, some boys talk to me but in the end, they become bad boys." Laila replied in pout, drinking orange juice.
Leonel continues "Not all boys, just stupid ones. Especially that boy, Ricardo, he's obsessed with you. Oh, I would like to give that guy a taste of his own medicine for provoking my sister." He raised both of his hands to popping his knuckles.
"I would really like to see that, Leo." Laila giggled while finishing her eggs and he returned it with a laugh.
'On my left, is my second eldest brother, Leonel, or Leo for short. We both have a very strong bond as young siblings, everyone at schools we've both go to; told us that we're like twins which is not true, we just look alike based on our facial feature. From childhood to teens, me and Leo have done many things together. We do homework together, acting around from YouTube videos we like, watch Saturday morning cartoons, play music instrument for school, and the one we love most for brother and sister time: playing video games a lot. Besides fun activities, he's been taking care of me during school and home while mom and dad are at work, he can also be protective whenever I come across from bullies who are teasing me. Whenever I have problems, he was always there for me to solve it and that's what I love about him the most.'
"Yeah, anybody messes with my sister, they mess with me." Leonel proudly said while pump his chest with his fist.
Laila smiled to him while finishing up her breakfast.
"Well, I hope he doesn't plan to ruin my performance like last times. Ugh! He's just likes being a showoff around me. Oh, speaking of performance, Mami (Mommy), did you told dad about… you know." Laila said.
Elizabeth's smile turned worried frown. As much as she loves her daughter, she tried everything to remind her father something important.
"Ay Laila (Oh Laila), believe me I did tell your papa to get you a piano, but he has other plans." Elizabeth softly said.
"Once again…" Laila sighed when she finished her drink. "But it's been 9 years, almost going to be 10!"
"I know sweetie, but your father worked very hard to take care of us including the things we need. He just needs more time." Elizabeth said.
"Of course, he's busy with paying bills and insurance almost every day which I know they're very important, wielding trailer parts, and comes home exhausted. That sort of time." Laila retorted.
"Laila, don't talk about him like that." Elizabeth frowned in a little anger.
"But you know it's the truth, mom, it's like… he's ignoring me. Am I right, bros?" Laila replied as she leaned forward on the table to rest her arms and placed her left hand on her cheek.
Her brothers nodded 'Mh-hm' as they thought the same thing when they're her age.
"Some parts may be true, pero (but) the other is not true. Su papá te quiere mucho y hará todo lo posible para que tengas una vida feliz al igual que Leonel lo hace por ti. (Your dad loves you very much and will do everything he can to make sure you have a happy life just as Leonel does for you.)" Elizabeth said.
Frowning, Laila leaned back on her chair and looked up at the ceiling. 'My dad may have loved me but sometimes I drive him crazy.' She thought.
Elizabeth finished her breakfast before she looked at kitchen clock on the stove; 7:30 a.m., then spoke up "Será mejor que te vayas, Laila. Es hora de que llegue tu autobús. (You better get going, Laila. It's time for your bus to get here) We'll talk more later about your, how do you say? 'Daddy issues.'"
"Ok Mami." Laila giggled as she takes it for sense of humor.
She rose from the table with an empty plate and glass cup to bring it to her mom to wash it for her. After she brush her teeth, Laila grabbed her backpack which is already set for today near the door. She kissed her mom and brother's cheeks. "Bye Mami, Bye big bros!" She exclaimed.
Leonel and Herman replied 'bye', but before she turned the doorknob, Elizabeth spoked quickly "Did you get your dress ready for your performance?"
"I've finished it and had it in my backpack!" Laila smiley replied while patted her backpack.
"Buena chica. ¡Buena suerte y diviértete! (Good girl. Good luck and have fun!)" Elizabeth shouted.
"¡Gracias, mami! (Thanks, mommy!)" Laila exclaimed as she exits the front door.
Once out of the house, Laila run to the entrance of the cul-de-sac at the stop sign, waiting for the school bus to arrive. She looked at her stuff to see if she has everything she have.
"Let's see, my performance outfit… check, instrumental song downloaded… check, final two projects… check, thank you gifts for teachers… check, and freshly baked soft chocolate chip cookies for midday snack… check." Laila said as she checked her things in her hands and backpack.
The school bus arrives at the stop sign just as she places everything back in her bag. She climbed in, greeted some of her classmates, and sits down on the empty seat. On the road, she was listening to music and her song to practice with her earbuds on but her previous question still bothers from that dream.
'Whoever that mysterious voice was, I've better find a way to stop it or else, it's going to bother me and give me a headache for the rest of my life.' She groaned thought.
Author's note:
It's a little hard to calculate the years and ages between my OCs and the Kingdom Hearts games' release dates which took a long time for me.
In case your confused about their age, Laila is 14; Leonel is 15, a year older than her; Herman is 23.
