Davis was looking at his reflection in the mirror with a frustrated look as he held up a shirt to his chest, checking to see how it looked.
"No." he huffed throwing it over his head and it landed on Veemon's head.
The dragon put it on the bed as Davis pulled out another shirt and held it up to his chest, then turned to Veemon.
"How does it look?" he asked his partner.
Veemon looked at the dark blue, almost black button down t-shirt and nodded with a smile.
"It looks great." He said.
Davis looked at it then put it down on the bed with a pair of jeans that had been laid out to wear for later.
"Davish, you should calm down. I'm sure Kari'll like whatever ya wear." The dragon said trying to get his partner to calm down.
Davis picked up his bag that had his shampoo and body wash in it.
"Uh huh. Look, I'm gonna go shower. I'll be out soon to get dressed and then I'll head over to pick up Kari for our date." He said.
"OK." Veemon nodded as the boy went into the bathroom.
Davis locked the door behind him and he then stripped down to get into the warm water pouring down from the shower head, hoping the water would help clear away his anxiety over the date with Kari.
Finally after years of trying to get a date with her, she just comes up to him and asks him out instead, when he was planning to give up on her and move on with his life.
He got out and gathered his things, dressing in the stuff he had ready while his partner just watched.
Finally, he was ready and grabbed his wallet before he walked off to the Kamiya residence to meet up with Kari and take her out on their…date.
He still had trouble wrapping his head around this fact.
Davis walked, trying to stay confident in himself as he went, trying to not back down from going over to the girl of his dreams home.
Finally, he was in front of the door, looking at the familiar name plate that he had seen for years from coming over to visit Tai and Kari.
He rang the doorbell and then stood there in front of the door, waiting for someone to come answer it.
In a few minutes, Tai opened up the door to see Davis standing there looking nervous.
"Hey. You're on time…or early. I have no idea. It all depends on how long it takes the girl to finish getting ready. Come on in." he said opening the door wide enough to allow the mahogany haired boy in.
"Thanks." Davis said with a small smile.
The two boys walked into the apartment, the child of Courage closing the door behind them and the two then retired to the couch to watch the TV.
They both kept quiet as they watched an old sit com playing while Kari finished getting ready for the date.
"So…" Tai said breaking the silence.
Davis looked over at him, trying not to panic.
After all, he knew how protective the guy can be over his baby sister.
Especially when it came down to boys.
He knew that he was safe because Davis' crush on Kari was one sided and his affections would never be returned.
Even the other Digidestinds joked around about it half the time, so it really made him wonder what had made the child of Light change her mind about him when she made it so obvious over the years that she only saw him as a friend and also a mini version of her brother.
"Where do you plan on taking Kari for your…date?" Tai asked.
"I don't know. She said she had it all planned out. I'm not sure if it's even a real date or just us hanging out." Davis said as he scratched at his left arm.
It was a habit that he picked up when he felt very stressed out or nervous and this was one of those times he really had a reason to do so.
A few minutes later Kari walked out of her room dressed in a pink sundress with flower patterns on it and a white belt around the waist and she also had on white ballet flats while her hair was slightly curled, her eyelids had a bit of pink and white eye shadow and her lips were a bit glossy.
"Hey, Davis." She greeted as she swung her pink purse on her shoulder, smiling sweetly.
"Uh, h-hi, Kari." The boy stuttered as he stood up, face a red.
She giggled at that and took his hand, pulling him to the door.
"See ya later, Tai." Kari called over her shoulder to her brother.
"Have fun you two." Tai called.
The two had been walking for about five minutes before they started talking about random things, setting a peaceful mood as they went.
The date consisted of Kari dragging Davis off to the mall to go window shopping and then went off to the arcade to play various games, the child of Light even getting him to try out Dance Dance Revolution with her.
After that they went off to a café to eat some sweets and were still talking when Davis grew quiet.
"Davis, what's wrong? It's not like you to be so quiet." The brunette said as she took a sip of her strawberry milkshake.
"Well, um, I was just wondering…what made you decide to ask me out? I mean, I've been asking you for years, but you always turned me down or when I tried to get your attention, you would flirt with TK right in front of my face." He said.
She blushed a bit in shame at that since she knew that was a bit rude of her and was scolded for being so mean when concerning Davis' feelings by Sora.
TK also felt bad about it and tried to get to know Davis better so that they could be better friends and started dating a French Digidestined called Cathrine and Kari was happy for him.
"I decided that I should give you a chance. It wouldn't be fair to just keep turning you down without giving you chance. So far I've been having a really great time with you." Kari said with a sincere smile.
He stuttered with a bright blush on his face which made her laugh at how sweet he looked.
"Um, thanks. So what should we do now?" Davis asked with a smile.
Kari hummed in thought as she continued to drink her milkshake and then smiled when she came up with an idea.
"Why don't we go to that new music store that opened up down the street? I wanted to go check it out for a while now." She suggested.
"Sounds great. They have some awesome stuff there." Davis said.
They both finished up and then headed out to go check out the store, walking in to see all the different CDs, iPods, Mp3s and anything else that was music related along with some instruments.
Music was playing from the speakers in the ceiling while Kari rushed over to the CDs to check them out and Davis picked up some earphones attached to a jukebox that had the music selection of CDs that were new or popular so that he could see what sounded good.
After they were done in the shop, they walked out holding hands as they just talked about random things as they walked down the street.
Finally they decided to call it a day and Davis walked Kari to her apartment, the child of Miracles feeling a bit worried that Tai would be there waiting on the other side to kill him if something had gone wrong.
Everyone boy would feel scared of the girl they like if they had an older brother who was stronger than them and had no problem with getting violent.
"Thanks for the great time, Davis. I had fun." Kari said.
"Yeah, me too." He said to her.
"We should do it again some time." The child of Light said.
He smiled at that, then blushed crimson red as she kissed his cheek.
"I'll call you soon." she said before she ran into her apartment so he didn't see her own rosey cheeks.
Davis placed his hand on his cheek and gave a soft smile as he turned and started walking away to go back home.
Meanwhile, Kari was leaning against the door feeling a bit embarrassed for just kissing his cheek like that, but she was also proud of herself for doing it.
Tai, who was eating a sandwich in the kitchen, looked up to see his sister walking over.
"So do I need to kill him?" he asked.
"Hmm? No, I had a lot of fun. I can't wait to go out with him again." She said.
"Good, because I like that kid. It'd be a shame to kill him." Tai smiled.
Kari rolled her eyes at her brother before she went into her room to tell Gatomon all about her date.
The end.
