"Skyscraper"

This is dedicated to Brown. Please enjoy and review!

It was a rainy day in Odaiba, the students spending their free hour inside as they talked with each other or went off to play in the gym.

One lone boy of 14 was in the music room, sitting down in front of the piano, fingers gently running over the keys.

Davis Motomiya sighed as he started playing a melody on the piano, a sad smile on his lips as he played the short intro and then opened his mouth to sing.

"Skies are crying

I am watching

Catching teardrops in my hands

Only silence has it's ending

Like we never had a chance

Do you have to make me feel like

There's nothing left of me." he sang softly.

His voice was a bit raspy, but it had a nice soothing tone as he sang the song.

No one knew this, but Davis was talented at the piano and didn't tell anyone because no one would believe him.

Yolei would laugh if he told her, Cody would be skeptic, TK would be the same while Kari would be confused about this, then the whole group would just laugh about this which would make Davis glare and yell at the group as he covered up his pain.

This song he had written because of his friends who enjoyed using him as their scapegoat, someone they use to laugh at or yell at to make themselves feel better.

"You can take everything I have

You can break everything I am

Like I'm made of glass

Like I'm made of paper

Go on and try to tear me down

I will be rising from the ground

Like a skyscraper

Like a skyscraper." He sang.

He hated the fact that no one treated him like he meant something to the group and only laughed at him or argued with him when he made his own opinions known.

Kari was the first person in the group he had met and thought that she would understand him better than anyone, but apparently he was wrong.

That kind, beautiful, wise girl he had come to love when he was a young boy had even turned against him and laughed at him and yelled at him with everyone else.

"As the smoke clears

I awaken

And untangle you from me

Would it make you feel better

To watch me while I bleed

All my windows still are broken

But I'm standing on my feet

You can take everything I have

You can break everything I am

Like I'm made of glass

Like I'm made of paper

Go on and try to tear me down

I will be rising from the ground

Like a skyscraper

Like a skyscraper." He sang.

Enough was enough, Davis had finally had it with being hurt by the people he had once called friends and was over the girl he once thought he loved and no longer respected Tai like he once had.

The plan was simple, yet not.

Davis was going to move on from his life and become someone new that no one would recognize.

Veemon watched his partner sing and nodded his head to the music, ready to back up Davis when he made his decision.

They had both saw that their friends truly didn't care for them because they had reached the final straw when a Tortomon chased after them and they ran by their friends, crying out for help, but no one did.

They could have been mauled by the digimon if Veemon hadn't digivolved and then the others didn't care enough to ask them if they were all right.

The only thing they cared about was that Veemon digivolved and then sent the duo of Miracles off to work.

Davis and Veemon were upset about this and finally had it with those who pretended to be their friends.

After Davis finished playing and singing, he pushed himself up and pulled off his goggles, staring down at them sadly.

The door then opened up revealing Matt Ishida had been listening in on the music, surprise and awe on his smiling face as he walked over to the younger boy.

"Hey, I didn't know you could play or even sing." He said.

"No one would believe me if I told them." Davis spoke quietly.

Matt quirked an eyebrow at that, but shook it off as he clapped the boy's shoulder.

"I bet they would if you played. You'd blow them away." Matt complimented.

Davis pulled away making the blonde look at him curiously as the boy pulled out an envelope from his pocket, then handed it along with his goggles over to the child of Friendship.

"Can you give these to Tai?" he asked, mahogany bangs covering pained chocolate eyes.

The blonde took the goggles and letter, but as soon as he had them, Davis grabbed Veemon and ran out of the room.

"Davis, wait up!" Matt called as he ran out of the room.

He was too late to stop the boy who was now outside, running to his house while Matt watched him out the window, then looked down at the package he was asked to deliver.

Just what was so important about this letter?

(The next day…)

Tai had called a meeting after he read the letter and he didn't look too thrilled as he sat down in the computer room, glaring at the second generation while Izzy, Sora and Joe were confused about their friend's mood while Matt was sitting in the corner with a look of disbelief on his face.

"Where is Davis? He's late again." Yolei complained.

"Interesting how that's the first thing out of your mouth." Tai glared shocking her.

"Yeah, especially when you were late getting here too, Yolei." Matt snapped.

Kari and TK were confused by their older brothers'' behaviour unsure of what to do or say.

"Well, he is late a lot. He needs to learn to be more responsible." TK said.

"Did it ever occur to you that he may have a good reason for not being here?" Matt asked.

"What do you mean? Why isn't Davis here?" Sora asked.

Tai pulled out his old goggles that he had given to a kid who used to admire him and also the letter that had been reread over fifty times in case he had read something wrong, but he was sad to see he hadn't.

"Listen to this letter. Davis wrote it." Tai said.

Everyone sat back to listen, Yolei looking annoyed as Tai cleared his throat to read whatever excuse the boy had for not being there.

"As a team, we work together as one and never turn our backs on anyone.

When TK comes up with an idea, everyone jumps on board, even if it means they get to push me to the side and ignore me, hoping that I just fade into the background.

but then when everyone needs help, the entire group is ready to save their friends, but I guess you guys don't see me as your friend.

When Cody fell into the water, everyone, including me, was worried for him and quickly went to save him, but Gomamon did that for us.

When Kari had disappeared into the Dark Ocean everyone went out of their minds trying to find her, searching all of Odaiba and I tried desperately to open the Digi Port to see if I could help her too.

When Yolei was almost attacked by Dokugamon, we all rushed to save her, Flamedramon fighting the spider off as we patched up Hawkmon when he got hurt protecting Yolei.

When TK went off to confront the Emperor, everyone was worried about him and complimented him for it and yet when I did that, I was called impulsive and viewed as an arrogant idiot for it.

Lastly, when I was being chased by a Tortomon who gave angry because I slipped near a cliff, a rock falling down and hit him on the head, I ran by all of you, calling out for help.

I have the digi egg of Friendship and I assumed that it meant my friends would quickly rush to my side to help me like I did with you guys.

Sadly I was wrong.

Veemon and I ran past you all, crying out for help when all you did was step aside and watch as Tortomon chased us and nearly killed us.

You know what makes it worse?

No one asked if we were all right after we were safe, they only cared about Veemon being able to digivolve and then shooed us off to work.

After listening to you guys insult me behind my back, complaining about me every chance you get and yelling at me for the smallest reason, I have finally had it with being your scapegoat.

Until you decide to treat me and Veemon like real friends and teammates, we both quit the team.

And if you dare think you can just have Kari come up to me and give me a flirty smile and simply ask me to come back, you have another thing coming.

Kari, I once thought you were so beautiful, kind and pure and I fell in love with that, but now I see your true self is just as selfish and petty as everyone else.

You're also cruel to me just like everyone else so I could never love someone like you.

Tai, I once thought you were someone I respected and could come to for anything, but lately I can't even get a word in with you and you failed me.

You all failed me and Veemon.

We won't accept your apology if its only because you feel pity for us or you want to heal your guilty conscience, it has to be a true, sincere apology, but I doubt you guys would know how to do that.

So I guess this is goodbye for…a while now.

-Daisuke Davis Motomiya."

When Tai finished reading, his hands were shaking as he looked up to see everyone in the room was stunned silent, Sora crying a bit while Joe and Izzy were looking at Kari, Yolei, TK and Cody in disappoint of their behaviour.

"T-That's a joke right? It has to be." Yolei stuttered as she tried to meet Sora's eyes, but the child of Love looked away.

"I expected more from you two, Kari and TK. I can't believe you didn't help a friend when he needed it or that you just constantly insulted him behind his back." Izzy said.

"Poor Davis. Who knows how he's dealing with this right now." Joe said.

All of the younger kids looked ashamed and so did their digimon while Matt thought back to Davis' song and realized that it was written about the way they had treated him.

(A few weeks later…)

Davis was sitting down on a bench in front of the lake, dressed in different clothing as he decided to stop looking like a preppy jock.

He was wearing a white t-shirt outlined in blue with a black vest over it, black pants and matching boots while his hair was just hanging around his face with no goggles to keep his fringes and bangs in place.

Veemon was sitting next to him wearing a black scarf around his neck as he looked out towards the water as the sun started to go down.

They had been going to the Digital World to help rebuild it and took down any remaining control spires and helped Ken and Wormmon fight Arukenimon and Mummymon, two Ultimates that turn control spires into evil digimon.

Ken's parents were thrilled when their son brought Davis home, happy that Ken had a friend and quickly welcomed Davis into their home as if he were their own son.

It embarrassed the child of Kindness, but he also liked having a friend to spend time with and that Wormmon had a new friend too, the Virus and Vaccine getting along exceptionally well.

Gasping made Davis look over to see a girl with red hair tied up into a high ponytail with snowy skin and lavender eyes looking down at him with a tall yellow fox digimon standing next to her.

Veemon looked over as well, surprised to see them.

"Who're you?" he asked.

"I think I'll be asking the questions here, blue boy." The girl retorted.

"Technically, this is our home town and we haven't seen you around here at all. If anyone's asking questions, it's us." Davis said standing.

The two young teenagers seemed to be locked in a glaring match while the fox and dragon watched their partners wondering who would win the glaring contest or if they would just break into a fight.

"The name's Rika Nonaka and this is Renamon." The girl said.

"Davis Motomiya, and Veemon. So what are you doing here?" he asked.

Rika walked down the hill and stood next to the bench while Renamon jumped down, standing behind her to keep an eye on her.

"My mom is a model and has a gig here. She dragged me along with her." She explained.

Davis nodded at this, then looked out over the water as Rika looked the boy over.

He was attractive and wasn't as annoying as she first thought he would be, so she sat down next to him, both sharing the silence.

"What about you? Why are you out here all alone?" Rika asked.

"Oh, my friend's in Tamachi." He answered.

"No other friends?" she asked.

"Dumped them after I had enough of their abuse." He growled under his breath.

This surprised her as she looked at the boy whose bangs were hiding his eyes.

Reaching over, she brushed his bangs back and saw the pain in his eyes that made her hard heart melt.

"Well, good. They deserved it." she scoffed sitting back.

Davis looked at her surprised, but nodded and gave her smile.

She seemed a bit rough and cold, but under it all she was actually sweet.

"So…Ken and I are trying to save the Digital World from evil digimon. Wanna help?" he asked.

Rika looked at him and smirked, both blue lovers having that same challenging spark in their eyes as they looked at each other.

"Beating a bunch of evil freaks and making them cry to their mommies? Sounds like fun." She mused making Davis laugh.

Veemon shook his head in amusement as he turned to Renamon who was chuckling softly at the two humans.

"I think we just found a match made in heaven." The dragon whispered to her and she nodded in agreement.

"It would see so." Renamon said.

(A month later…)

The Digidestinds were getting beaten by MaloMyotismon, the evil digimon taking pleasure in fighting them.

"Revenge is sweet, Digidestinds. Finally I'll be rid of you." he laughed manically.

Kari whimpered as she tried to force herself up, Yolei holding Hawkmon to her chest as Gatomon was in pain, Patamon was knocked out, Armadillomon was supporting Cody and TK was staring at MaloMyotismon in fear.

This was it, they had failed and now the two worlds would be destroyed.

"Goodbye." MaloMyotismon said as he readied the final blow.

As he was about to fire, he was stopped by a streak of blue that shot out of the sky and kicked him down while two other figures came in.

"Who are these guys?" Armadillomon asked.

The first digimon was male dressed in armour and had a long flowing blue cape that matched the rest of his silver, blue and gold attire.

"It's UlforceVeedramon!" Gatomon gasped.

"Who is that?" Kari asked.

"He's one of the Royal Knights. UlforceVeedramon is also a Mega level digimon." Hawkmon explained.

The older generation were watching the three new arrivals, UlforceVeedramon holding up his arm and released his Dragon Impulse attack that destroyed MaloMyotismon's right arm.

"He's strong." Sora gasped.

"It's a good thing he's on our side." Gomamon said.

"Who are those other digimon?" Mimi asked looking at the insectoide and the fox woman.

"That's Sakuyamon. She's a mysterious digimon who uses talismans and her beauty to defeat her enemies. She's also another Mega." Palmon explained.

"Come on big boy. Show us what you can really do." Sakuyamon taunted.

MaloMyotismon glared at her and went to blast at her, only to have her Fox Cards glued to him, canceling out his powers.

"You meddlesome Megas!" he growled as he went to hit the fox, but UlforceVeedramon came in and grabbed Sakuyamon, taking her up into the sky with him.

"It's not nice to hit a lady." The last Mega scolded.

"It's GrandisKuwagamon! I wouldn't want to get on his bad side." Tentomon buzzed.

The younger generation took their time to run away to where the older kids were, then turned to watch the battle going on, the three digimon tag teaming MaloMyostimon, taking him apart piece by piece.

"They're so strong." Patamon said.

"They are Megas." Agumon said.

"Follow my lead." UlforceVeedramon ordered as he took to the air, GrandisKuwagamon and Sakuyamon following him.

Together, the three combined their powers and took out MaloMyotismon, destroying him for good while the gate to the Digital World closed up above them.

Everyone cheered as the three Megas flew over to them, landing in front of the group.

"Wow, amazing power." Gabumon said.

"You guys came in handy. Thanks a lot. We couldn't have done it without you." TK smiled.

UlforceVeedramon, Sakuyamon and GrandisKuwagamon smiled as they were covered in lights that then faded away to reveal something that shocked the group.

Davis, Veemon, Rika, Renamon, Ken and Wormmon were in the place of the three heroes.

"Davis? Ken? What…what just happened? Who's this chick?" Yolei asked.

"This chick just saved your worthless life." Rika glared at her.

Yolei looked like she was about to slap the redhead, but Davis wrapped his arm around Rika's shoulders, pulling her into his chest while she smiled up at him.

"How did you turn into digimon?" Sora asked.

"Well, we have new types of digivices called D-Arcs. They allowed us to fuse together with our digimon to become new, powerful digimon." Ken explained.

"We become one with our partners. It's a truly amazing experience." Wormmon smiled as Ken picked him up.

Kari opened her mouth to talk to Davis, but he turned his back on her since Rika grabbed his collar and pulled him down, placing a kiss on his lips making everyone stare in shock.

Ken just laughed nervously at the normal situation where Rika would get jealous when a girl looked at her boyfriend and made sure he knew she was there.

She either kissed Davis senseless or killed the girl and the latter was something both redheads loved.

Davis chuckled as he pulled back from his feisty girlfriend and kissed her cheek.

"Come on, we can do that back at home." He teased.

"Well, I prefer we do it right now, so we better get moving." The lavender eyed girl stated.

They had both gotten together weeks ago when Arukenimon almost killed Rika and Davis was able to fuse together with Veemon to save her, then the child of Miracles asked the girl out.

She agreed and now her mother treated him like her own doll, dressing him up all the time and leaving Rika alone more often much to the redhead's happiness.

"Davis, wait!" Cody called running over to the boy.

Davis looked down at the boy, Rika and Ken looking at him as well, unsure of what to do.

"Davis, I'm really sorry for the way we treated you. It was unfair and I should have known better than to go along with it." the boy spoke sincerely.

"Cody, you're not the one who needs to apologize for everyone. Compared to the others, you did far less damage." Davis stated.

"So you're not gonna forgive us?" TK asked.

"Why would he? You didn't apologize, the runt did." Rika said.

"Guys, can we go eat now?" Veemon asked.

"I'm getting really hungry too. What about you, Renamon?" Wormmon asked the fox.

"Yes, I am a bit peckish." Renamon nodded.

Ken, Davis and Rika smiled at their partners, then started walking away from the Digidestinds.

Tai and Matt both watched the boy who held their crests and realized that he now seemed happier and stronger than he had been before.

"Oh, and guys." Davis paused.

"I won't forgive you now, but maybe someday I will. But if you start treating like that again, you'll pay for it." he promised.

He then walked off with his arm linked with Rika's, the girl looking back at the group, glaring at Yolei and Kari, whishing she could smack some sense into those girls for how they hurt her boyfriend.

"Those girls are so pathetic." She muttered.

"Rika, please try not to be so rude." Ken requested.

"I'm not making any promises." She said making Davis laugh as he leaned down and kissed her cheek making her smile.

"I still can't believe you used to love that pink loving freak." Rika said.

"Yeah, especially when you're way prettier and more interesting to talk to. I guess I prefer someone who won't humiliate me, but still gives me a challenge." Davis mused.

"Nice to know." Rika said as she pulled him down for another kiss.

Ken groaned as he covered his eyes while their partners laughed.

The end.
