"It's My Life"
This is dedicated to suntan140. Please enjoy and review.
Davis was running off to the computer lab, late for another meeting, but he didn't see what the point in being late for it was since they were done saving the Digital World and there was no point in constantly having these meetings.
Why couldn't they just move on with their lives and enjoy it rather than constantly obsessing over everything?
He made it to the lab and was about to open the door, but stopped when he heard someone say his name.
"Davis is a bit late again." Sora sighed.
"This is so typical of him. He's late all of the time." Yolei ranted.
"If he was being dragged here to talk about nothing important, there's no wonder he's late. It cuts the boring chit chat down to a minimum." Tai muttered.
"The point is, he's supposed to be our leader. What a joke." Yolei scoffed.
Davis scowled at that knowing it was another one of those 'Let's Bash Davis' moments that the younger generation were having and were trying to drag the older kids into it.
He knew that Yolei was trying to get Ken to join in and the child of Kindness had reluctantly admitted that Davis was a bit impulsive and this started a whole wavelength of stories that the others told to prove this fact.
"Hey, come on. Sure, he's a bit immature-"Matt was cut off.
"A bit? Matt, he's like a seven year old hyped up on sugar. Cody's younger and he's still more mature than him." TK stated.
"That's a bit unfair. I mean, Cody has faced some things when he was younger that forced him to grow up sooner." Izzy reminded.
"But what about how he always flirts with Kari and chases her around even though he has no chance with her? I mean, how pathetic can a person get?" Yolei scoffed.
"It is kind of sad. I mean, I don't like him at all like that. He just doesn't seem to get that I don't want to be with him." Kari said.
"And did you ever think about telling him this? Kari, you always flirt with TK in front of Davis and I can tell it hurts him. This isn't fair to Davis at all." Sora scolded.
"Well, you would think he would calm down more after everything we went through." Cody commented.
"Ken, why aren't you saying anything?" Joe asked.
"I really don't know what to say. I mean, it's true that Davis is immature and impulsive, but he was the only one who accepted me for the things I did while all of you still saw me as a monster. Are you sure he's the one with the problems and not you?" Ken retorted.
"You're on his side?" Kari asked sounding surprised.
"He's not even meant to be a Digidestined." TK said.
That was the last straw.
The door was slammed open making everyone jump in shock as they all turned to see that the one they were talking about was right there glaring at them all.
"You know what? I've had it. This is the twenty-second time I've heard you guys bad mouthing me. And yes I have been counting. You think I'm pathetic? What I think is pathetic is some who holds Hope has so little of it in me." Davis glared over at TK.
The blonde ducked his head down, avoiding the pain and anger in those chocolate brown eyes.
"The one who holds Love and Sincerity doesn't seem to have any of that as she lashes out spitefully at me for no good reason. Yeah, I know I have my faults, but at least I accept them and don't act like I'm perfect all the time." Davis looked over to Yolei who tried to glare back, but faltered under those eyes.
"And the little kid who has Knowledge and Reliability doesn't seem to be smart enough to think for himself and can't stand up for his friend."
Cody averted his eyes when he felt terrible about this knowing that what was being said was true.
"Someone who has Kindness and is being pulled into this cruelty. Thanks for at least trying to break free from them, but maybe you should have done it sooner."
Ken looked down sadly at this knowing that he shouldn't have sat back and let the others do as they wanted.
"And finally, the precious Light is really a stuck up princess who loves being worshipped and flaunts her perfection to everyone, not caring whose heart she breaks along the way."
Kari's eyes grew wide at this as she clung to her brother's arm, she had expected that Davis would leave her alone since he was supposed to be in love with her, but she was wrong.
"OK Davis, that's enough. Now calm down before you say something you'll regret." Tai advised.
"No, what I regret is being on this team, listening to my so called friends insulting me behind my back all the time." Davis said.
Pulling his goggles off, he dropped them to the floor making everyone gasp at this as they stared at the boy and the goggles.
"I'm done. With all of you. You got your wish. I'm gone now forever." Davis stressed the last word before he turned and slammed the door behind him.
Everyone inside the room where shocked by what had just happened, Tai pulled away from Kari as he bent down and picked up the goggles, staring at them in disbelief.
"Did he really just quit?" Izzy asked.
"I guess so." Joe said softly.
(A few days later…)
Davis was in an exceptionally good mood as he walked down the street, a smile on his face and a slight bounce in his step.
He had finally done what he had wanted for a while now and he felt so free as he walked along, the tight goggles no longer wrapped around his head, his hair getting caught painfully in the rubber bands as he pulled them off and winced at the strands of hair that were pulled out along with them.
DemiVeemon was a bit upset that he wouldn't be able to see his friends again, but he knew that he had more friends that he could always go visit in other countries so he supported Davis' decision to leave the group.
"Woke up on the right side of the bed.
What's up with this grim song inside my head?
Hands up if you're down to get down tonight.
Cuz it's always a good time.
Slept in all my clothes like I didn't care.
Hopped into a cab, take me anywhere.
I'm in if you're down to get down tonight.
Cuz it's always a good time." Davis sang.
A little secret he kept from the others was that he loved to sing, but he didn't think it was an important thing to tell them since they proved to have not cared about him.
Suddenly, his cell phone started beeping so he pulled out the blue phone to see he had a text message from an unknown number which he found strange.
The message was 'Do you want to start?' with the boxes 'Yes or No' underneath the message.
"I don't see why not." He shrugged as he pushed the 'yes' box.
"Davis Motomiya, it's time for your destiny to continue." A woman's voice spoke up making blink in shock at the message.
"Does this have anything to do with the Digital World, because I just quit my old team." He grinned nervously.
"Worry not, child of Miracles, you will be on a team with new people, some of which have gone through the betrayal of friends and harassment such as you have. Follow these instructions and you will be fine." The woman spoke in a motherly tone.
"Well, at least you're not forcing me to spend time with people I don't like, like Azulongmon and Gennai did. Let's see how this goes." Davis took in a breath and then let it out as he started running to the train station.
Once he boarded, he rode the train until it took him to Shibuya and he needed to transfer onto a different one to and he ran off after the doors opened up.
While running, he saw a blonde girl dressed in lavender got bumped into and wound up on the floor by a group of girls who didn't even bother to stop or apologize to her.
This annoyed him so he ran over.
"Hey!" he called making the girls look back at him.
"Yeah, what is it?" one of the girls asked.
"You're kidding right? You just knocked this girl down. the least you could do is apologize." Davis said.
The girls looked over at the blonde warily as she looked at Davis confused and a bit surprised by a stranger coming over and getting involved.
"I don't see why we should." A black haired girl said.
"Why is that?" Davis asked.
"She's not like us." The brunette from before answered.
"That is so stupid. Just because she's different or doesn't like the same things as you isn't a reason to treat her that way. That's called bullying." Davis said trying not to outright yell at the girls.
They seemed to be surprised by the way he was standing up for her and wondered if he was her boyfriend.
Groaning in aggravation at them, Davis turned his back on them and held out his hand to the blonde girl who blinked her emerald eyes up at him in surprise.
Hesitantly, she placed her paler hand in his larger, tanned one and was easily pulled up onto her feet.
"Now don't you have something to say?" he asked.
"Uh, sorry about that." The brunette said.
"Yeah." The other girls muttered.
With that done, they then walked off.
"Um, thanks for the help." The blonde said.
"No problem. I wouldn't want someone to walk away when they did that to me. I'm Davis by the way." He smiled at her.
"Zoe." She nodded with a small grin.
Their phones then went off making them answer them, seeing they both got a new message about boarding the train.
"Huh, you have the same message?" Zoe asked.
"Uh, yeah, I guess I do." Davis rubbed the back of his head.
"Do you think maybe we can go together? I'm a little worried that some sicko might be the one who sent this." Zoe held her fist to her chest with a slightly fearful look.
"Ah, don't worry about it. I won't let anything bad happen to ya. Come on, it'll be fine." Davis held his hand out to her.
Zoe frowned a bit as she looked him over seeing the kindness in his chocolate eyes and took in a deep breath as she forced a brave face as she took his hand.
"Ok, I'm trusting you, but if something bad happens, you're gonna get it." she warned making him laugh.
"Weird, that's what my sister always says when she's getting ready for a date." He joked as he then pulled her along.
(Seven years later…)
It was the night of a concert, Matt's band the Teenage Wolves were going to be opening for a new band from a different area that became famous for their music.
TK, Tai, Kari, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, Cody, Ken and Yolei were all sitting in the crowd to watch, it would be the first time they have all been together for a few years.
They watched as Matt stood up on stage singing 'I Turn Around' which people still loved after so long.
Once they were done, the crowd cheered for them as the Teenage Wolves waved to the crowd and then walked off to the back.
While there, they saw the band that was getting ready, a boy with long raven hair tied back with sapphire eyes named Koji was strumming his guitar while a brown haired, tan skinned and brown eyed male named Takuya was tuning his base as a heavyset male with brown eyes and reddish brown spikey hair named JP was twirling his drumsticks around his fingers.
"Hey, you're the Warriors right?" Matt asked as he walked over to them.
"Unless there's another band supposed to play tonight." Koji quipped.
He reminded Matt of himself.
"Hey guys, you're on in ten minutes." Koji's twin Koichi said as he walked over.
Koichi was the Warrior's manager and helped fixed the lightning and carried some of the equipment around, though the entire band did help out.
"Finally, I can't wait to play." Takuya grinned as he strummed his bass loudly making Koji glare at him.
"Save it for the show." Koji said.
"Why, afraid I'm gonna rock the play better than you?" Takuya taunted.
"Oh, guys don't start now." JP whined.
"Oh, Davis! They're fighting again!" Koichi yelled.
Matt gasped at the sound of the familiar name making him look over to see a male with mahogany hair that was now longer that it used to walk out over to them with a guitar strapped to his back.
"Man, you guys are the worst. Can't you argue after we all rock the house down?" Davis joked at them.
Takuya and Koji looked at him, then sighed.
"Fine." They said.
The five males then chuckled at that when Matt stared at the successor of Courage and Friend as well as the child of Miracles wondering what had happened to him after nearly a decade.
He then cleared his throat making the five males look over to him, Davis meeting Matt's eyes.
"Matt." He greeted.
"Davis. It's been a while. How you've been?" he asked.
"Great. You?" he asked.
"Fine." Matt licked his lips unsure of what to say next.
It grew tense as everyone was silent unsure of what to say or, so Koichi checked his watch and cleared his throat making everyone look at him as the raven haired boy gave his best friend a smile.
"You're going on soon. Get ready." He advised.
Davis nodded at him and then walked off with his band mates while Matt ran off to go tell the others what he had just discovered.
"This concert is going OK." Yolei said as she leaned back in her seat.
"It's about to get better." Said a blonde haired woman sitting in front of her.
The Digidestineds all looked at the blonde, Zoe, who smiled at the group.
"Really? Is this band really that good?" Ken asked.
"Of course it is. You haven't heard them play before?" Zoe asked.
"No, we only came because our friend opened for them." Kari said.
"He's my older brother." TK smiled at her.
"Really? My boyfriend is in the Warriors. He's really good and so are the rest of the guys." Zoe said.
"Guys!" Matt called as he ran over to them.
"Hey Matt, what's up?" Tai asked with shorter hair than he used to have.
"You look like you've seen a ghost." Mimi commented.
"You are never gonna believe who the lead singer in the band is." Matt panted.
Before anyone could question him, the crowd all cheered as the Warriors came out onto the stage, each male wearing an outfit in different colors.
JP was wearing a green top with jeans while Koji wore a blue top with a leather collar and leather pants, Takuya wore a red t-shirt with flames on it with some jeans and finally was Davis wearing a long sleeved button don shirt that was silver and wore a clean pair of jeans.
"Is that…" Sora trailed off.
"Davis?!" Joe and Izzy asked.
"When did he get hot?!" Yolei shrieked making everyone grimace.
Davis' chocolate eyes looked over the crowd curiously, spotting his ex-friends staring up at him behind Zoe who blew a kiss to him that made him smile as he winked at her.
"Here's a song for some people I used to know." He said into the microphone.
The five males then started to play their instruments as the crowd banged their heads to the music.
"This ain't a song for the broken hearted.
No silent prayer for the faith-departed.
And I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd.
You're gonan hear my voice when I shout it out loud.
(Chorus)
It's my life.
It's now or never.
I ain't gonna live forever.
I just wanna live while I'm alive.
My heart is like an open highway.
Like Taky said 'I did it my way'.
I just wanna live while I'm alive.
It's…my…life.
This is for the ones who stood their ground.
For Tommy and Zoe who never backed down.
Tomorrow's gettin' harder make no mistake.
Luck ain't even lucky, gotta make your own breaks.
(Chorus)
After they sang the chorus again, Davis did a guitar solo which made the Digidestineds gap in shock while Zoe cheered, giving compliments in Italian for her boyfriend.
"Better stand tall when they're calling you out.
Don't break down, baby, don't break down." Takuya sang next and then the rest of the band started to sing the remainder of the song.
When they were done, the crowd all cheered wildly making the band laugh and smile, Davis then whispered something to his friends who all nodded in agreement, though Koji looked a bit annoyed, but it was more playful.
"I never knew he was that good." Sora said.
"No kidding." Cody said.
"He has to be lip syncing, there's no way he's that great." Yolei frowned.
Zoe looked back at them and glared as she realized who they were as Tommy walked over holding drinks and pokie.
"Tommy, what are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be back stage helping with the lighting." Zoe commented as the younger male sat beside her.
"Yeah, but then I decided to enjoy the concert instead. Koichi's handling it all." Tommy said as he offered her a drink and some of the sweets.
"All right, this is a new song I wrote. It's for a very special girl." Davis said into the microphone.
The girls in the crowd as gushed over this while Kari looked a bit embarrassed, yet pleased over this.
"Looks like he still hasn't gotten over you." Yolei smirked over at the pink lover.
"What makes you think he hasn't gotten over her?" Mimi asked.
Tommy looked back at them and glared as he too realized who they were as he then turned his attention back to the band.
"This song is for you, Z. Hope you like it. It doesn't matter if ya don't, but I did work really hard on trying to be original and write this for you, so." Davis shrugged making some people chuckle.
"Z?" Kari asked.
"He means me. I'm Zoe, Davis' girlfriend as of seven years." The blonde stated proudly making the Digidestineds gap at her in shock.
The band started playing again as Davis clapped his hands in time to the beat, then pulled his guitar off as he started dancing around the stage.
"You're a good girl.
The perfect picture of an angel's smile
From a magazine.
But it's a new world.
And I know so well the side of you no one's ever seen.
Hey now, baby.
No doubt about it, girl, you drive me crazy.
I'm feeling guilty to the way you make me.
Want to steal your heart.
Steal your heart." Davis sang.
He then jumped off the stage and rushed over to Zoe, holding his hand out to her and she took it as he pulled her as he spun her around, not even caring to notice his old friends staring at him.
"Call me criminal.
I won't deny you make me want it all.
Everything you are.
So lock it up.
Go on and try it.
No matter what you do I'm gonna steal your heart.
I confess.
I kinda like it that you're innocent.
Keeping up your guard.
I'll break it down.
So you can't hide it.
No matter what you do I'm gonna steal your heart." He finished.
Zoe leaned up and kissed his lips making everyone cheer while Takuya and JP both wolf whistled as Tommy clapped for them.
Pulling away, Zoe blushed and giggled as she hugged her boyfriend who hugged her back as he kissed her head.
"Go, Davis!" Tommy cheered.
"C'mon." Davis tilted his head to gesture for the boy to join him and Zoe up on stage.
Tommy stood up as the couple walked off to the stage to join the band, Koichi even coming out as he took hold of Davis' free hand while Koji, Takuya and JP held hands, the group of seven taking a bow as everyone cheered.
They then went back stage where they could talk, the group laughing as the curtain closed.
"That was awesome!" JP cheered.
"Yeah, I say we got out and celebrate. Who's up for pizza?" Takuya asked.
"We always eat pizza." Koji said.
"Then why don't we head back to Davis and Zoe's place. They can make something for us I'm sure." Koichi said giving his best friend a hopeful look.
"Sure, sure." Davis rolled his eyes as he held Zoe in his arms as she leaned her head on his chest.
"Davis." Someone called.
The group all turned to see the Digidestineds making their way over, but Koji and Takuya stepped in front of their friend protectively.
"What are you doing here?" Tommy asked.
"Excuse you, but we're here to talk to Davis." Yolei pointed at him.
"You have no right to do that after what you did." JP stated angrily.
"Davis, we haven't seen you in seven years. We just want to talk." Tai said.
"Too bad. I'm not talking." Davis said.
Takuya then pulled out a device which looked like a digivice while the others all did the same, Davis even having one that was silver and gold.
"You joined a new team?" Izzy asked.
"Yeah, while you guys were sitting at home doing nothing, Davis helped all of us defeat Lucemon. Some Digidestineds you are." Koji scoffed at them.
"Who do you think you are!" Yolei shrieked at them.
Sharing a look, the group all moved their arms around as lights filled the room transforming the humans.
"Execute: Spirit Evolution!"
"Agunimon: Legendary Warrior of Flame!"
"Lobomon: Legendary Warrior of Light!"
"Kumamon: Legendary Warrior of Ice!"
"Kazemon: Legendary Warrior of Wind!"
"Beetlemon: Legendary Warrior of Thunder!"
"Lowemon: Legendary Warrior of Darkness!"
"Kovmon: Legendary Warrior of Metal!"
When the lights faded away, everyone was stunned to see the digimon in the place of the humans.
Where Davis once stood was a tall man dressed in a silver tunic outlined in gold while he had black leather pant and silver boots tipped with gold, he had tanned skin, muscular arms, his left arm having a mirror shield on it while he had a mirror sword in his right.
He also wore a helmet that covered the top part of his face while long brown hair fell down from the back of it
A lavender and mint fairy who used to be Zoe wrapped her arms around his neck, Kovmon smiling down lovingly at Kazemon as she did the same.
"You can become digimon?" Ken asked.
"We're the Legendary Warriors." Agunimon stated proudly.
"We're the most powerful beings in the Digital World." Lobomon said.
"Yep, so as you can see, you have no ties to us. Now let's go already. I'm starving here." Beetlemon whined as he quickly packed up his drums and flew off with them.
"He'll never change." Lowemon shook his head.
"I say we follow his example. Come on, sweetie." Kazemon took to the air, kissing Kovmon's cheek.
Kovmon smiled at her as she flew up, the moonlight making her wings sparkle as she flew off.
"Hey, wait up!" Agunimon called as he jumped after them.
Kumamon laughed as he created a trail of ice and skied down it after them while Kovmon looked over to his ex-friends while Lowemon stepped to his side for support.
"Davis…" Kari trailed off.
"Doesn't my happiness count? I finally find some great friends, a girl I love and a best friend." Kovmon said glancing back at Lowemon while Ken mentally flinched at that.
"Why can't I ever be happy? Do your lives mean more than mine?" Kovmon asked.
Shaking his head as the group remained silent, Kovmon jumped after his friends, Lowemon following close behind.
Sora watched them go, feeling happy that the young Warrior of Metal had found people who would truly stay by his side and smiled for him.
(Later…)
Out on his roof, Davis stared at the sky, taking in the full moon and the stars that glittered in the night sky.
Everyone else was inside, Veemon laughing as he played with Patamon(Seraphimon), Lopmon(Cherubimon), Salamon(Ophanimon), Bokomon and Neemon.
Tommy, Shinya, Chiaki, Teruo, Katsuharu and Teppei were watching TV while Jun and Yutaka watched over them as Koji as Takuya got into another argument, Koichi and JP trying to break it up.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Zoe asked as she stepped out on the roof.
Davis turned to her and gave a smile as she walked over and sat down between his legs as he wrapped his arms around her to keep her warm.
"It's nothing. It was just weird seeing those guys again after all these years. Everything's fine now though." He said kissing her cheek.
"Good, because if that purple haired witch said one more bad thing to you, I was gonna knock her head off." Zoe growled.
This made her boyfriend chuckle which made the Princess of Wind smile at him as she leaned back into his embrace, pulling him down for a kiss.
The end.
