"Hail to the King"
This is dedicated to suntan140. Please enjoy and review!
It was surprisingly warm for October; the people able to walk around without a sweater and the kids were excited to go out without a coat on for trick or treating this year.
Tomorrow was Halloween and the Digidestineds were together talking about the party at the school, deciding on their final touches to their costumes.
At least all but one.
Daisuke was never around for Halloween, he always seemed to disappear during the day and didn't return until November 2 and whenever he was questioned, he merely shrugged it off and said he had more important things to do than dress up and fool around.
This stunned them all and made them grow curious when he disappeared every Halloween.
"I wonder what he does." Hikari mused.
"Huh? You mean Daisuke?" Takeru asked.
"Well, yeah. He always disappears and whenever we ask him where he goes, he just changes the subject." Hikari said.
"It is strange." Iori agreed.
"I say we should find out." Miyako said.
"Miyako, you aren't thinking of following him are you?" Ken asked.
"Well, yeah. How else are we going to find out the truth?" the lavender haired girl asked.
"But if Daisuke sees us, he'll be mad." Iori pointed out.
"Hello, we'll be in costume, so even if he does catch us following him, he won't know it's us." Miyako insisted making Hikari and Takeru look at each other thoughtfully.
"It'll be an invasion of his trust." The younger teenager said.
"Iori's right. It just wouldn't be right for us to do." Ken said taking his side.
Miyako groaned as she stood up.
"Look, we're doing it and I will drag you all with me tied up in chains if I have to." She threatened.
The group grimaced as they knew the girl was crazy enough to do so.
It looked like they had no other choice but to go along with her plan and pray that their friend forgave them if he found them out.
"For what?" Daisuke asked coming over.
Everyone nearly jumped out of their skin when they saw the mahogany haired boy.
"Um, Miyako was going to drag us to an after party. You know, after the party at school." Takeru chuckled nervously.
"So, will you be coming with us this year, Daisuke?" Ken asked.
"Nah, I have other plans." Daisuke said immediately making everyone frown.
"Why do you always have a plan for Halloween?" Miyako asked.
Sighing, Daisuke sat down next to Iori.
"Because I do. It's not a big deal. Besides, Halloween isn't a time to be pranking, scaring and begging for treats. It's a time to honor the dead." Daisuke said.
Ken couldn't help but notice that his friend's eyes held an amused look in them when he spoke those words.
"Can't you at least come for an hour?" Hikari requested.
Groaning in frustration, Daisuke looked over his friends who were all smiling at him, pleading with him and he let his head fall down hitting the table.
"I'll take that was a yes." Miyako cheered.
(Halloween night…)
The party was in full swing as people dressed as skeletons danced up on stage as the speakers played music, people admiring the decorations and food that was being offered.
Miyako was dressed up in a black cocktail dress with long black boots, a witch's hat and wore a mask while she held a broom stick in her left hand as a stuffed black cat was cradled in her right arm.
Hikari was dressed in a pink dress with a riffled skirt with black tulle on it and it had black lace sleeves while she had pink fairy wings with black markings while she wore a matching mask and pink kitten heels.
Ken was dressed in black clothing with a plum wolf tail, large plum wolf ears and a matching colored mask while he wore the paws on his hands and feet.
Takeru wore a black t-shirt, black pants and boots and also wore a mask while he had black feathered wings on his back.
Iori was dressed in a black samurai costume with a mask and a fake sword strapped to his back.
They were at the punch table making sure no one tried to spike it while waiting for Daisuke to arrive.
"Man, where is he?" Miyako asked checking her cell phone.
"It's only 7:00. Maybe he's finishing his costume up. He did agree to come at the last minute." Hikari reminded.
Just then, fog started to swarm around the gym making everyone look around curiously when the doors were suddenly thrown back open by a huge gust of wind.
People cried out in fright, then looked over to see two figures walk inside.
One had long red hair with lavender eyes, the white in them being red as she was dressed in a strapless black dress that had the short skirt caked on each side with black leggings underneath and black boots.
Beside her was a young man dressed in a floor sweeping leather jacket that was opened a bit to reveal the strong bare chest as a red medallion hung around his neck, the whites of his eyes being red and made his chocolate eyes appear a bit red themselves.
"Happy Halloween." Daisuke greeted as he smirked, revealing two sharp fangs.
Everyone then started clapping at the entrance, cheering even as Daisuke wrapped his arm around the redhead's shoulders as he walked her over to his friends.
"Daisuke, that was an awesome entrance." Takeru complimented.
"Well, I'm not gonna be here for long, so I figured that I might as well give everyone a show." Daisuke grinned.
"It was great. Who's your friend?" Hikari asked.
"I'm Ruki Makino. I'm Daisuke's girlfriend." The redhead answered.
"Girlfriend?" the group asked in shock.
Ruki rolled her eyes at this as she leaned into Daisuke's chest, tracing a sapphire colored nail down his exposed chest.
"Come on, let's go party." Daisuke said as the music came back on and he pulled Ruki out onto the floor.
The Digidestineds shared a look before shrugging and going out to dance as well.
Not even an hour seemed to pass when Ken caught Daisuke sneaking off with Ruki, the redhead smiling happily as she was kissed on the cheek by her boyfriend.
Takeru, Hikari, Miyako and Iori noticed that they were sneaking off as well and grabbed Ken, pulling him along to follow the couple.
Their followed the laughter of Ruki as they watched the couple going down the street, passing kids as they went by the couple with their parents, a little boy dressed as a vampire showing off his costume to the couple, Daisuke pretending to be afraid making the boy laugh as Ruki smiled at her boyfriend lovingly as Daisuke then laughed as he patted the boy on the head.
"I wonder how long Ruki and Daisuke have been together. They seem really close." Hikari commented.
"Maybe she's the reason we never see him on Halloween. They spend time with each other as a couple." Iori theorized.
"Great, we found out the secret. Now let's go before we get turned into vampire food." Ken insisted since he didn't want Daisuke and his fiery tempered girlfriend to catch them.
"No, we're going to find out more. I mean, where do they go all the time." Miyako narrowed her caramel eyes.
Mentally groaning, the group followed the witch as she led the dark fairy, dark angel, werewolf and samurai off into the night after the vampire couple.
Ruki and Daisuke walked off to an old abandoned building on the outskirts of town, the male pulling out his medallion that transformed into a key and he placed it into the lock of the door.
He unlocked the door and then opened it up, lights flashing from what was inside as the couple walked in.
"Come on." Miyako hissed.
The group quickly ran over before the door could shut, getting inside just before the door closed and were shocked by what was inside.
It was a magnificent room that looked like one from an old castle while people around them were dressed as vampires, werewolves, witches, wizards, warlocks, demons, fairies, elves, trolls, ogres and many other types of monsters.
"Wow, no wonder they come here. This place is amazing." Takeru exclaimed softly.
Looking up, they saw that Daisuke and Ruki were standing at the top of the grand staircase while a ghost was blowing a trumpet to gain everyone's attention.
"Ladies and ghouls, I am proud to present to you, the King and Queen of the Night; Daisuke and Ruki!" she cried out.
The monsters all cheered and clapped wildly for the couple who linked arms, Ruki kissing Daisuke on the cheek as he smiled down at her.
"I…think this is all real." Hikari said.
"What makes you say that?" Ken asked.
"That." Hikari pointed.
Looking over, they saw a man pull his head off his shoulders to stretch out properly as he spoke to a banshee.
"They're real? Daisuke is a real vampire? He's a king?" Miyako asked in disbelief.
Ruki then appeared before them making the humans jump back in surprise at the sudden appearance while the vampiress smiled at them.
"Yes he is and I'm his wife. Sorry we didn't tell you, but we weren't sure how'd you act." She said sounding more pleasant than she had been before.
"Oh, so that's why Daisuke's always gone. He's a king and kings need to tend to their people." Takeru realized.
Daisuke then appeared by them making the group jump in surprise.
"No, it's because human parties can't even compare to the ones we throw. Anyway, you guys gonna be OK with this news?" Daisuke asked.
Sharing a look, the Digidestineds all smiled and nodded as they turned back to their friends.
"Yeah, we're good." Ken said.
"As long as you're not evil." Iori said.
"Please, there isn't an evil bone in his body." Ruki scoffed as she leaned up to kiss her husband.
"Aw!" Miyako and Hikari gushed over the loving couple while the boys rolled their eyes.
"How long have you two been married?" Ken asked.
"Oh, for a year. Last year we got married on All Hallows Eve otherwise known as Halloween." Daisuke explained.
"But we've been dating since we were ten years old. We're both from royal vampire families and our parents were trying to get us married to one of the other nobles' children." Ruki said.
"We got bored of listening to everyone talk about themselves, so we both wound up walking into the kitchen, started talking about how lame everyone was," Daisuke trailed off.
"Then we started hanging out together and then started dating a few months later. Our parents were both thrilled." Ruki smiled.
"That sounds like such an awesome love story. You guys have to write the whole thing down and then sell it. You have no idea how many girls would love that Vampire Prince falls in love with the Vampire Princess book." Miyako gushed.
"Can we feed her to the hellhounds?" Ruki asked.
"Sadly, no." Daisuke whispered to her.
"Anyway, socialize and have fun. See how us monsters party." He winked at the group.
With that said, the humans all walked off around the room, finding different monsters to talk too, Miyako squealing with a banshee, vampiress, witch and cat demoness over something while Takeru spoke with a Cyclops, Iori was admiring an centaur's archery skills, Ken was speaking with a wendigo and fox demon while Hikari was pulled over to a group of fairies and wood nymphs.
"They work fast." Ruki commented.
"Ah, they'll be fine. Now, shall I lavish my Queen with affection in our private courters?" Daisuke asked with a smirk.
She giggled at that as she kissed his lips, then pulled back before he could deepen it, a smirk of her own curving her lips.
"If you can catch me." she said before running off
Laughing at this, Daisuke chased after her.
The end.
