"Prom"
OK, this is another Daikeru or Takedai oneshot. I started it a while ago and recently finished it. Hope you guys like it. Enjoy and review please.
Daisuke groaned in frustration as she looked at all of the dresses that were laid out on racks in the mall, sales up for discounts on them.
She was helping Ken pick out a tuxedo since he was going with Kari and Daisuke knew what the color of her dress was, so she was there to help color co-ordinate and pick up the corsage.
"I still can't believe you're not going, Daisuke." Ken said as he came out of the dressing room stall in his tux, looking very handsome in it.
"Yeah, well, I don't have a date. No one asked me and I don't wanna bug you guys when you all have your own dates, so, whatever." She said with a shrug as she held the flowers in their plastic container they picked out.
Ken gave her a concerned look as he fixed his amethyst tie that was the same color as the child of Light's dress.
"You should still come. We'd love having you around. And besides, you won't be the only dateless one there. TK doesn't have a date yet." He reminded.
"TK has a fan club that will be hording around him the entire night." The mahogany haired girl responded as she saw a dress that caught her attention.
"I still say you should come. I'll even pay for your ticket." Ken offered as she walked over to the dress she saw.
She pulled it off the rack, admiring the black satin and how soft it felt.
Ken noticed how quiet she was, so he turned around he saw that she saw looking at a dress that had thin straps, the waist had gold sequins and the skirt flared out into ruffles that went to just above her knees.
He smiled softly at her as he walked over to her, coming up behind her; he took the dress from her hands and took her arm, gently guiding her to the dressing room.
"Ken, what're you-?"She trailed off as he pushed her into the room.
"Try it on. I know you want too." He said with a smile as he closed the door behind her.
She sighed and shook her head, then stared down at the dress longingly.
She took off her clothes, then slipped the dress on just as some shoes in Ken's hands appeared over the door.
"These match." Was his response.
She smiled and laughed weakly as she accepted them, placing the two inch high shoes on.
Before she opened the door, she took her hair out of the messy bun it was in, letting the mahogany locks fall around her shoulders.
"All right, what do you think?" she asked opening the door to see Ken standing there with his digital camera out and snapped a photo of her.
Daisuke scoffed in surprise at him as she walked over to him and flicked his nose, making him laugh as she gave him a playful glare.
"What was that?" she asked.
"I just wanted to take a picture. My mom always wanted to see what you would look like in a dress." He said moving her to the mirror as he looked at the screen of his camera, sending the picture to his Facebook page where the others would see it.
The girl let out a breath as she looked at her reflection, amazed by how beautiful she looked in it.
She never knew what the term 'legs up to her neck' meant, but apparently she had them and they were nicely toned from all her years of soccer.
"You look beautiful, you know." Ken spoke softly as he stood behind her.
"Thanks. You don't look half bad yourself." She said as she looked up at him.
Sighing, she then walked back into the dressing room and changed back into her street clothes and came out holding the dress on the hanger and the gold shoes in the other hand.
"What are you doing?" he asked her.
"Putting this stuff back. I'm not going to the prom, so why should I buy this?" she asked and she set the dress back on the hanger.
"Because you want it." he said as he took the dress and handed it back to her.
"Just take it and come to prom with us. I promise you'll have fun." He said with a begging smile.
Groaning, the child of Miracles took the dress and then headed over to the cashier and bought the dress and matching shoes, Ken smiling happily as he went to change out of his tux.
(Next day…)
Kari, Yolei, Cody and TK were all staring at what was on Ken's laptop in awe.
It was the picture he had taken of Daisuke when she was in the dress and heels looking very beautiful and also a bit shy from modeling it.
"Wow, she looks so pretty." Yolei said in surprise.
"She's always been pretty, Yolei. She just never showed it off." Kari pointed out.
TK was blushing darkly at the sight of the child of Miracles in her dress, amazed with how beautiful she looked as his mouth dropped open.
He had always found her to be an interesting person and through the years she had grown up to be a pretty tomboy just like Sora had.
"So does this mean she's going to the prom with us?" Yolei asked snapping TK out of his thoughts.
"I convinced her." Ken smiled.
"How did you do that?" TK asked.
"I just took a page from her book. Don't shut about the subject until I get a yes." Ken said making them laugh at that.
"Amazing, that actually works." Yolei said as she brushed some of her lavender strands from her face.
Nodding at her, Ken then turned to TK.
"Do you think you could take Daisuke with you to the prom?" he asked making the others look at him in surprise.
"Why me?" TK asked.
"Because she'd like to have someone go with her even if they weren't her date." Ken said.
The blonde seemed to be thinking this over, but was then jabbed in the ribs by Kari's elbow as she gave him a stern look.
"Of course he'll go with her." She said as she then gave a sugary smile.
"Right, TK?" she asked.
Her cherry eyes looked deadly then as they clearly said 'Do it and confess to the girl before you lose your chance with her and then I'll hit you for it with a frying pan'.
Sometimes Kari knew how to be very scary.
"Um, yeah, I would love to." He cleared his throat and gave a nervous smile.
Cody sighed at this as Yolei grinned at the way the child of Hope got bullied by his best friend into agreeing to take their leader to the prom.
"Great, so us girls will all get ready at my place and then you guys will come pick us up." Kari suggested standing up.
"Sounds like a plan." Cody agreed.
He was going as Yolei's date since it was the only way to get him to come enjoy the dance with them and they were supposed to be having their prom in an expensive hotel.
"I'll go tell Daisuke about this then." Ken said standing.
"Actually, I think I should do it. After all, I am her date. Besides, this'll give me a chance to actually ask her out." TK said as he stood up.
"Sounds good to me." Yolei shrugged as she stood.
"See you later." Cody waved as he walked off, the others splitting up as they went off in their opposite ways.
TK made it to the Motomiya home and took in a deep breath to try and gather up his courage before he lifted up his hand and pushed the button which made the doorbell go off.
A few minutes later, the door was opened by Daisuke who gave him a curious look.
"Hey, TK, what are you doing here?" she asked.
"Well, I was wondering…" he trailed off with a blush on his face as she was expectant.
"Don't have all day." She drawled out.
"Right, sorry. Well, I came to ask…would you like to go to prom with me?" he asked.
Daisuke was silent as she blinked her eyes, unsure of how to react to this question.
It came out of nowhere which is what caught her off guard and her silence was making TK feel nervous.
"A-are you serious?" she asked.
Blinking, TK saw that she had a pink tint to her cheeks which made her look adorable in his opinion.
"Yeah, of course I am. Unless you've already got a date." He said.
"N-No, I don't. But why did you suddenly want to ask me out?" she asked playing with her hair.
"I've wanted to ask you out for a while, but didn't know how to do so." TK said as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Oh, well, OK then. I guess I'll see you there then." Daisuke said as she closed the door.
TK blinked as the door was closed, but swore he caught the upturning of her lips before she turned from him which made the blonde smile as well.
(The night of the prom…)
Yolei, Kari and Daisuke were getting ready for the dance, the tomboy groaning as she let the child of Light fix her make-up and hair.
Kari was dressed in a floor sweeping amethyst dress that had thin straps and diamonds under the bodice while her hair was tied up into a bun, amethyst eye shadow on her eyes and a light pink lip gloss on her lips.
Yolei was in a knee length, strapless red dress that's skirt was caked on both sides while her hair was straightened more than usual while she wore red lipstick, a thin line of eyeliner and wore contacts.
Daisuke was in her gold dress while she wore a peach colored lip gloss with mascara and her hair was curled as her bangs were clipped to the side by a clip that had pearls on it.
"When are the boys gonna get here?" Yolei asked as she smoothed down her hair.
"Calm down. They'll be here in a few minutes. There, finished." Kari said as she pulled away from the child of Miracles.
"I swear, if Tai says anything about this, I'm gonna start-"Daisuke was cut off.
"Shut up. It's not going to kill ya to look like a girl for one night." Yolei said as she turned away from the mirror.
"And besides, if he does make fun of you, just go crying to Mimi and Sora. They'll take care of him for you." Kari gave the mahogany haired girl a wink which made Daisuke smirk.
The door to the room opened up and in stepped Mrs. Kamiya holding a camera and smiling at the three girls.
"Oh, look at you. You all look so beautiful." She complimented.
"Thanks Mom/Mrs. Kamiya/ Mrs. K." Kari, Yolei and Daisuke all spoke at the same time.
"Now come on, let's get some pictures in before your dates get here." Mrs. Kamiya said.
She then gestured for the girls to stand up and led them out into the living room where they had more lighting, the three girls standing together in a line, Daisuke in the middle with Kari on her left and Yolei on her right.
Tai and Mr. Kamiya were in the kitchen eating as they watched the pictures being taken.
"Wow, Daisuke. Nice dress. You really are a girl." Tai teased.
"Shut up!" Daisuke, Kari, Yolei and Mrs. Kamiya snapped at him making the child of Courage crouch down as his father shook his head.
"Not one of your smartest moves, son." The man said as he continued eating the chips.
"Ya could've warned me before I opened my mouth." Tai said.
The doorbell then rang which made the girls exhale in relief as Mrs. Kamiya walked over to the door, opening it to reveal Cody, TK and Ken were there dressed in tuxes, each wearing a tie that matched the girls' dresses.
"About time guys. Any later and Yolei would have ruined her make-up." Kari said as she linked arms with Ken.
"Sorry, but we had traffic. Everyone's heading out to the prom now." Ken informed.
"Well, what do ya think?" Yolei asked as she did a twirl which made Cody sigh.
"You look great." He said politely.
Daisuke then walked up to TK who was staring at her in slight awe of her beauty which made her blush.
"So, ready to go?" she asked.
"Uh, yeah, sure. Come on guys; let's go before traffic gets worse." TK said taking Daisuke's arm and started leading her away.
"Kari, make sure to take plenty of pictures." Mrs. Kamiya said as she handed the girl the camera.
"I will, don't worry. I want lots of reminders of tonight." The child of Light smiled.
The group then headed outside and went into the limo that was rented for that night, Kari taking pictures of the six of them as they all laughed and posed for the camera.
In thirty minutes, they made it in time for the prom that was already in full swing, kids dancing and eating as music played over the speakers.
The girls pulled the boys to the dance floor, all six dancing in a group when a fast song played or just danced with their dates when a slow song came on, sometimes switching partners to make it more fun.
A few hours into the dance, TK saw Daisuke sitting at a table eating some of the food there peacefully while the others were off dancing around.
Deciding to take his chance, TK walked over to the girl as a slow song started, clearing his throat to gain her attention and was rewarded as she looked up at him.
"Hey, TK." She greeted.
"Hey. So, may I have this dance?" he held his hand out to her with a smile.
Blinking at this, Daisuke blushed with a shy smile as she took his hand and let him pull her to her feet as they walked off to the dance floor.
TK placed his hands on her waist while Daisuke's hands rested on his shoulders as they moved to the song 'You and Me' by Lifehouse.
Many couples were out on the floor gently swaying to the beat, Kari resting her head in the crook of Ken's neck as he smiled softly down at her.
"Daisuke, I have something important to tell you." TK said.
"What is it?" she asked.
He blushed as he looked into her large eyes that stared up at him, unsure of how to tell her so he just leaned down and captured her lips.
Her eyes went wide at that as she blushed, but soon got over the shock and kissed him back, making TK smile into the kiss.
A few seconds later, they pulled away to see they were both blushing.
"So that important thing was what exactly?" Daisuke asked.
"If the kiss didn't tell you, it was that I really like you and want you to be my girlfriend." He answered.
"Hmm, I'll have to think about it." Daisuke hummed as she looked to the side.
TK just chuckled at that as he pulled her into his chest making her giggle as they resumed dancing as he kissed the side of her head.
"I'd love to be your girlfriend." She answered making his arms tighten around her as her head rested on his chest.
The end.
