"The Date"

This is a Dami/Yamisuke pairing. Please enjoy and review!

The sky was gray as rain fell from the stormy clouds and a girl with mahogany hair, tanned skin and chocolate brown eyes wearing a dark pink blazer, sapphire colored skirt, knee high white socks and brown shoes was standing under the arch to the high school, staring out into the rain.

"Man, I should've brought an umbrella." She sighed.

Her school bag then moved and a tiny blue head with floppy ears and a white face poked out of the bag, looking around with its large adorable scarlet eyes.

"I wonder why it's raining so much." The baby dragon mused.

"Probably because it's been so hot lately. We might have to make a run for it, Demiveemon." The girl said.

"It's not so bad. It's just a little water. It won't hurt us." Demiveemon assured his human.

"Hey, Daisuke!" someone called.

Daisuke Motomiya's head picked up as she heard her name being called and turned around to see a boy who was a few inches shorter than her running over to her.

He had spiked up black hair that was outlined in magenta while he had blonde bangs that hung in spikes around his face and his large eyes were an amethyst color.

The boy was dressed in a sapphire blue blazer that was over a white button up shirt, he wore matching blue pants and had on black and white shoes.

"Hey, Yugi." She greeted the boy as he stood beside her.

"What are you doing out here?" Yugi Moto asked the girl.

"Just trying to figure how to get home without getting soaked." She said as they both stared out into the rain.

"Yeah, it's really pouring down out there." the boy commented.

Yugi then sighed as his hand then went to his Millennium Puzzle that he wore around his neck, placing his hand on the gold that was warm to the touch.

Demiveemon noticed this and turned his attention to the slightly shorter boy.

"Hey, Yugi, what's bothering you?" he asked.

"Hm? Oh, it's nothing really. It's just that…the Pharaoh hasn't been feeling very happy lately. He's been really concerned with his past and his destiny." Yugi sighed.

"Well, ya can't blame him. I mean, I would be going out of my mind too if I couldn't remember my past or even why I was a spirit trapped inside a 5000 year old artifact." Daisuke said.

Yugi nodded, used to her blunt words since he knew she was sincerely upset for the Pharaoh.

She was the first person to be able to tell that when he dueled, it wasn't him out there, it was actually Yami who took over.

The girl had even confronted him about it and Yugi had told her that he barely noticed it at all in the beginning and was unsure of where the spirit came from.

What Daisuke was amazed by was that Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor and Tea Gardner had never noticed until they were on Duelist Kingdom Island.

Tea had known Yugi since they were little kids and she didn't even notice when the tri color haired boy was acting differently which stunned Daisuke even further.

Did his friends even pay any attention to him at all to notice the differences between sweet innocent Yugi and his darker more bold half Yami?

"I just wish I knew how to make him feel better. He's just been so depressed lately and it's starting to make me feel depressed too." Yugi looked down.

"That's a good thing. Yami could really use a friend who cares about him that much." Daisuke smiled at the boy making him blush.

"Thanks, Daisuke." Yugi smiled at the girl, happy that she was around.

The girl had a strange way to make people feel better while also annoying them at the exact same time.

It was a gift she had and he was thankful for it since it helped him when he was feeling down.

A sudden thought then struck the King of Games as he looked at his friend with an idea, hoping that this would be the perfect way to help his partner.

"Hey, Daisuke." he spoke up making her look away from the rain falling down onto the ground.

"What?" she asked looking at him.

"Do you think maybe you can go out on a date with the Pharaoh?" he asked.

"WHAT?!" Daisuke and Demiveemon shrieked in shock.

Yugi chuckled nervously as he realised how strange his question may have been to the girl and her dragon since they would never had expected that from him.

"Sorry, let me explain." the tri haired boy held up a hand.

"Please do." Daisuke groaned since she was very confused at this moment in time.

"Well, you see, the Pharaoh never spends time with people. The only time he ever shows up is to duel and I think that he deserves a chance to have some fun and go on a date like a normal teenager." Yugi explained.

"That's a good point. It must be sad for him." Demiveemon commented as he frowned sadly as he thought of the life Yami was now living.

"Yeah. That's why I wanted to know if you could take him out, Daisuke." Yugi said.

"Why me and not Tea?" Daisuke asked curiously.

Considering how close Yugi seemed to be to Tea, she was confused as to why he would ask her to take out Yami on a date instead of the pretty dancer.

Yugi then blushed as he scratched his cheek bashfully.

"Well, it's because... I think you'd be good for him. You just have this way of making people feel... I don't know...special." he said.

Daisuke felt stunned by this news as she felt her face heat up from the compliment she had been given by the shorter male.

She wasn't used to being told such kind things about herself and she felt...touched that someone had said that.

Her eyes then moved down to the Millennium Puzzle that was hung around her friend's neck and thought over how Yami must feel being inside that artifact with no body of his own and no memory of his past.

He deserved to have someone to help him for once and just let him act like a normal teenaged boy.

A soft smile then curved her lips as she gave a sigh of defeat.

"All right, I'll do it." she said making Yugi perk up as he stared at the girl with happy sparkling amethyst eyes.

"Who knows? It could be fun." Daisuke said.

"Thanks, Daisuke! You're the best!" Yugi cheered as he then started running off into the rain.

"Hey, wait! When's the date supposed to be?" Daisuke callled out to the boy over the noise of the pouring rain.

"I'll call you later with the details!" Yugi waved at the girl as he continued running home.

Sighing, the girl then looked down the rain and whined as she knew she would have to run through this storm and get wet.

"Do you think you'll have fun with Yami on this date?" Demiveemon asked his partner.

"Like I said before; I don't know. But on the bright side, maybe our friendship will get stronger. Come on, we better get home now." Daisuke said as she frowned at the cold and damp sight in front of her.

She really hated things that were cold and wet!

(That night...)

After Daisuke had gotten home, she was soaked to the bone and freezing from the cold rain and frigid air.

She then started a bath for herself and Demiveemon, adding plenty of bubbles so the In-Training could play in it and not stare at the girl's naked body.

Once Daisuke was sure that she and Demiveemon were warm enough and wouldn't get sick, she dried herself and the dragon off before she dressed in her teal night gown and wrapped Demiveemon up in a blanket.

The girl was currently sitting on her bed as she ran a brush through her hair, thinking over the date she would be going on with Yami.

Would he agree to this and if he did, then what exactly would he want to do on this date?

Just then, her cell phone went off, playing the tune to "Hello Kitty" by Avril Lavigne (her sister set it that way as a joke) and she rushed to grab her phone and answer it before it woke up Demiveemon.

Grabbing the aqua colored i-Phone, she pressed the talk button and then held it up to her head.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Hey!" Yugi's cheerful voice was heard over the line.

"Yugi, hey. What did you call for?" she asked him.

"Well, I forgot that I didn't give you any information on the date. I just kinda ran off as soon as you agreed to do this. Sorry about that." the boy apologized sheepishly.

"Don't worry about it. But since we're on the subject, just where are we going on this date?" Daisuke asked.

"Actually, I was thinking that you could just show him around town. Take him to the park to hang out and get some ice cream, go to the arcade to play games or just spend some time at the mall. You know, what you would normally do with your friends." Yugi said.

Blinking at this, Daisuke felt a bit more secure about this since it didn't sound like a date to her at all.

It was just two friends hanging out like on any ordinary day of the week.

"Yeah, that sounds great! Where am I gonna meet him?" she asked the King of Games.

"Outside of the school at 10:00 am tomorrow. I'll get him there at that time." Yugi informed.

"Okay, sounds great. I'll see ya tomorrow then, I guess. Night, Yugi." Daisuke chirped.

"Good night, Daisuke." Yugi said as the girl then heard the click of the phone being hung up.

Releasing a relieved breath, the girl then pressed the end button on her phone as she then got ready for bed.

(The next day...)

Yugi smiled as he stood in front of his floor length mirror, taking in the sight of the clothing he had chosen to wear that day.

He wore a pair of dark wash skinny jeans that were being held up by a brown leather belt, a sleeveless black top and he wore lime green socks.

Around his neck was his usual black belt and he added on a silver cross necklace while he wore silver bangles on his left wrist and a black leather bracelet that studs on it.

"There, I think this outfit works. Perfect for the day I have planned." Yugi smiled as he admired his outfit.

A few feet away from the boy, Yami was sitting on the bed in his transparent form as he watched his partner model his clothing.

"I wish you would tell me what you have planned. Is this a duel or a tournament that you haven't mentioned yet?" Yami asked curiously.

"You just wait. I'm sure you'll be in for quite a surprise." Yugi winked at his reflection in the mirror.

"Why do I feel like you're up to something?" Yami narrowed his eyes suspiciously at his doppelganger.

"You're just being paranoid." the boy waved off his partner's conserns.

Deeming himself ready, Yugi then grabbed his card pouch that held his deck and attached it to his belt and then grabbed his wallet as he then ran off.

(At the Motomiya house...)

Up in her room, Daisuke was sorting through her clothing as she looked over them, unsure of what to wear.

She had finished taking a shower and was wearing her teal colored bathrobe while her hair was wrapped up in a white towel.

"I can't decide what to wear." she whined as she looked over at her alarm clock.

"And I'm supposed to meet Yugi in, like, twenty-seven minutes." the girl sighed.

Demiveemon blinked at this as he then jumped off the bed and ran over to the dresser and pulled out the bottom drawer.

Climbing inside, he searched for an outfit that his human could wear and pulled out a cute cherry blossom pink tube top and a pair of light wash skinny jeans.

"Daisuke, what about this?" he called as he held up the pieces of fabric.

"Yeah, they might work. Thanks, Demiveemon." Daisuke smiled as she accepted the clothing.

Pulling off her towel, she placed it over Demiveemon's head to hide his sight from her as she pulled off her robe and pulled on a pair of white panties and a white strapless bra.

Once her underwear was on, she pulled on her jeans and tube top as she then stretched to see if anything would ride up or down.

She didn't want to accidentally flash any more skin than was necesarry and make Yami feel nervous.

Seeing her top stayed in place and didn't show off any cleavage, the girl felt satisfied with her outfit and wondered if she should let all her fashion choices fall to her little dragon.

Speaking of whom, Demiveemon then pulled the towel off his head as he watched his human walk around the room as she finished getting ready.

She put on a gold chain necklace around her neck, gold hoop earrings, and was now brushing out her hair.

Grabbing a stick of her plum blossom scented deodarent, she quickly applied it under her arms and then applied a coat of lip balm to her raspberry colored lips.

"Okay, what do you think?" Daisuke asked as she then turned to face her partner.

"You look pretty!" Demiveemon blushed cutely as he grinned up at her.

Daisuke smiled at that as she then bent down and kissed Demiveemon's head before she stood up properly and grabbed her turquoise colored purse that contained her cell phone and wallet.

"I'll be back later. Don't cause any trouble, okay? I don't want Jun to come complaining to me that you destroyed the kitchen on a sugar high again." Daisuke scolded.

"That was one time! Don't worry so much, Daisuke. Everything will be fine. Now go have some fun." Demiveemon waved his paw at her.

Shaking her at this, the girl then left the house and made her way to the meeting place and stood in front of the closed school gates as she waited for Yami to arrive.

A few minutes after Daisuke had arrived, Yugi soon made it and stopped about twenty feet away from the girl and smiled when he found her there.

"All right, Pharaoh, it's your turn now. Have fun!" Yugi smiled down at his puzzle.

Gold light shone from the artifact as Yugi grew taller and pieces of his bangs then stood up while his eyes grew sharper in shape.

Standing there, Yami was confused when he found himself standing in the middle of the sidewalk with no duel arena in front of him.

His violet eyes took in the sight of Daisuke standing further off as she glanced around, searching for him.

"Ah, Yugi! What are you doing? This isn't a duel!" Yami yelled down at his puzzle.

Hearing the stunned yelling, Daisuke turned to look down the street to find the flustered Pharaoh shouting at his puzzle.

She supposed that Yugi hadn't told Yami about the date after all.

"Hey, Yami!" she called waving at him in greeting.

Picking his head up and feeling embarrassed at being caught yelling at the puzzle in public, Yami tried to compose himself as he lifted a hand at the girl.

"Hi." he said.

Smiling in what she hoped was a calming manner, Daisuke jogged over to the male who was the same height as her.

"Yugi didn't tell you what was going on, huh?" she asked.

"No, he didn't. I assumed that we had a duel. Tell me, exactly what are we doing today?" Yami asked.

"We're hanging out." Daisuke answered with a grin.

"Hanging out?" Yami questioned as he blinked in confusion.

"Yeah. You know, two friends going out and having fun? It's just gonna be a normal day without any trouble going on." Daisuke explained.

Yami was a bit confused since he hadn't ever spent any time with any of his friends unless they were in the middle of a duel or if they were in danger and he saved them.

The first time Yami had ever met Daisuke was when she first transfered to Domino and she tried out for the soccer team, making a fool out of the team captain.

Angered, the male then cornered the girl after school and started beating her up until Yugi found them and tried to help, but was hurt by the soccer captain, allowing Yami to take over and used his mind crush powers on the male.

When he turned to face Daisuke, she was staring at him in shock as she then asked him who he was much to his shock.

She could actually tell the difference between him and Yugi!

"I...see. So, what do friends do on the weekends?" Yami asked.

Daisuke smiled at that when she saw that Yami was willing to go along with Yugi's plan.

(Later on...)

The two friends had walked around town to take in the sights and Yami was taking his time to look at everything around him such as the laughing children and the happy couples.

They had gone into a few shops to look around at what was being sold such as new Duel Monster cards or candy.

When they went into a music store, the two friends checked out the CDs to see what was being sold while also listening to the music samples.

As they headed for the park, a man walking a group of dogs passed by them and the dogs jumped on the two friends, startling Yami while Daisuke simply laughed as she pet the adorable canines who kept jumping on her and licking at her cheeks.

Afterwards, the two made their way into a cafe to get some lunch to eat and were sitting at a table to relax after the two hours they had spent together.

They had chosen a booth with a window seat and were sitting there with their burgers, fries and soda.

"So, did you have any fun today?" Daisuke asked as she poured ketchup on her burger.

"Yes, it was nice." Yami smiled at the girl.

Then, his attention was drawn to the food that they had gotten.

"What do you call these?" he asked.

"Huh? It's a burger and fries. The burger's made out of beef and the fries are just potatoes cut up and fries in vegetable." the girl explained.

Blinking at this, Yami curiously picked up a fry and took a bite out of it and was surprised to see that he enjoyed the taste.

The fries were crispy and salty.

This date that Yugi had set him up on was a good idea and it gave Yami a chance to experience things he hadn't been able to before.

Looking over at the girl sitting across from him and smiled at the cheerfull 16 year old as she bit into her burger.

She had been very kind to him and exposed him to plenty of different things that were simple and boring to everyone else, but new and exciting to him.

Sensing eyes on her, Daisuke looked up at the Pharaoh and found him watching her with his lips upturned his a small smile.

"What? Is something on my face?" she asked wondered if any ketchup had been smeered on her face or clothing.

"No, it's nothing." Yami shook his head before he then continued eating.

Daisuke stared at him curiously, but shrugged it off as she took a sip from her soda as she thought over what they could do next.

It was a day for Yami to be able to have fun and enjoy the life of a teenager for once while everything was peaceful.

"Hey, Yami, is there anywhere you want to go?" she asked.

Thinking this over, Yami thought back to the times he heard Joey and Tristan talking about the arcade and it made the Pharaoh wonder what it was like.

"What about the arcade?" he suggested.

"Sure, it'll be fun." Daisuke grinned and Yami noticed how her eyes seemed to light up with her emotions.

Whenever she was happy, her chocolate brown eyes would sparkle gleefully, but when she was sad her eyes grew dark and when she was angered a crimson tint would fill her eyes.

It was strange, but he found it made it easy for him to tell what she was feeling when she wore a happy mask to try and fool others into thinking nothing was bothering her.

After the two friends finished their meal, Daisuke led Yami off to the arcade that was filled with children of different ages laughing and playing the games.

Yami glanced around him at the people laughing together or talking about different subjects as they walked by, played the games or watched others play.

All the bright lights and music playing amazed him as he took everything in and ventured further inside with Daisuke at his side, smiling as she looked around as well.

"Hey, Yami, do wanna try and play one of these games?" Daisuke asked.

"I am tempted, but I'm not sure which one to try or even how to play any of them." Yami confessed.

He looked a bit like a child as he looked around in wonder and it made Daisuke smile fondly at the sight.

"How about a racing game? Those are pretty easy to play and it'll help you get used to the equiment around here." Daisuke suggested.

"All right." Yami nodded as he allowed the girl to grab his hand and pull him over to one of the games.

The girl turned the game on and chose a racer for the pharaoh and gave him instructions on which buttons to push and how to work the controler.

After losing the first round, Yami soon understood how the game worked and won the next round as Daisuke cheered him on happily.

Yami played a few other games that interested him, but then he suggested that they should play a game that Daisuke liked and she reluctantly agreed and took him over to where Just Dance was located.

She had managed to convince the embarrassed pharaoh to try the game out with her and he felt humiliated since he couldn't dance, but he didn't feel that bad when he saw his friend laughing in amusement as she dragged him off to a different game they could both play.

Finally, the sun began to set and the two friends were standing in the park by the bridge that overlooked the ocean as they watched the sky being filled with hues of orange, pink, purple and yellow.

"Wow, it's really pretty." Daisuke commented.

"Yes, it is." Yami smiled as he leaned against the metal railing.

The light made his fair complexion glow while his violet eyes seemed to have a mixture of magenta in them.

Daisuke always loved sunsets because they didn't just change the colors of the sky, they also changed the colors of the people who basked in their light.

Standing up properly, Yami turned to look at the girl and smiled at her as she looked over at him as well when he started to talk.

"Thank you for doing this." Yami said making her blink at him curiously.

"I can't remember when I had fun or spent time with anyone like this. I really appreciate you spending the day with me." the violet eyed male said.

"Huh? What are you thanking me for? We're friends after all. Of course I'd wanna spend time with you." Daisuke told him.

Yami gave a soft smile at this and Daisuke fought back the blush she felt rising to her cheeks at the sight.

She didn't think anyone but Yugi had been shown this side of Yami and she felt touched that he was showing off this side to her.

"Anyway, it's getting late. We should probably head home now." Daisuke said as she turned her head away to hide her pink cheeks from the pharaoh.

Seeing the color to the girl's cheeks, Yami smirked at the sight and nodded in agreement.

"I'll walk you home." Yami stated as he offered his arm to the girl.

Accepting the arm and linking hers around it, Daisuke allowed Yami to escort her back home and prayed that her family didn't see them because that would lead lead her father to getting annoyingly protective while Jun would tease her about dating the King of Games.

The sun had gone down by the time the two friends had made their way to the Motomiya home and they stood in front of the front door.

"Thanks for walking me home. I'll see you again next time you wanna hang out." Daisuke smiled at the tri color haired male.

"Thank you and I asure you, it will be sooner than you think." Yami said.

"Great! Tell Yugi I'll see him later." Daisuke said as she turned to open the door to her house.

A fair toned hand then reached out to gently grasp her wrist making the mahogany haired girl pause as she then turned to look back at the male standing behind her.

"What is it?" she aksed him.

Smiling, Yami then stepped up closer to the girl and leaned in to place a kiss on her cheek making her face burn red at the sudden act.

His lips were surprisingly soft on her cheek and she was stunned that he had actually kissed her.

It seemed a bit out of character for Yami, but she knew that he wouldn't do something he never intended to do.

Pulling away and releasing her wrist, Yami stepped back and smirked down at Daisuke as she stared at him with surprised eyes.

"I'll see you next weekend then. Have a good night, Daisuke." Yami said as he then walked off.

Watching him leave, the girl smiled as she placed a hand on her cheek where the pharaoh's lips had been.

"See you then, Yami." she whispered.

As Yami was walking back to the Kame Game Shop, he switched places with Yugi to allow the boy to take over his body once more.

Staring down at his puzzle, Yugi grinned as he felt curious about the day his partner had.

"So, did you enjoy your date?" he asked.

The transparent form of the pharaoh then appeared beside Yugi making the boy turn his amethyst eyes towards the taller male.

"Yes, I did." Yami answered with a smile pleasing the boy.

The end.
