"Baking Lesson"

Characters from X-Men: Evolution. Please enjoy and review!

In the kitchen of the Xavier mansion, there were two people inside who had gathered up plenty of ingredients for baking.

One of them was a teenage boy who had burgundy colored hair, tanned skin and was dressed in a pair of jeans, green sneakers and a black v-neck shirt with short sleeves.

Wrapped around him was a blue apron.

"Remind me again why I agreed to do this?" Davis Motomiya asked.

He turned to look at the blue furred boy with long navy colored hair and yellow eyes who was dressed in a black and red uniform.

"Because it was unanimous. You have to be the one to teach Kitty to cook." Kurt Wagner told him.

This made David give the German an annoyed glare as he washed his hands in the sink.

"I still don't understand why I have to do this." The Japanese boy said.

"Because you're the only one who can bake! Also, you're Kitty's boyfriend. It makes sense for you to do it." Kurt insisted.

An unamused expression found its way onto Davis' face as he turned to give Kurt a look that the teleporter was sure the male had learned from Wolverine.

Gaining a desperate look on his face, Kurt then clasped his hands together and began to start begging his friend.

"Please, you need to teach her how to make. I can't take tasting any more of her desserts. I can still feel the last one trying to fight its way back up." Kurt pleaded.

Staring into the face of the despaired looking boy, Davis sighed as he knew he couldn't reject the look on Kurt's face.

"Fine, but I'm not happy about it." Davis stated.

"Danke (Thank you). You're the best, Davis." Kurt grinned happily as his forked tail swished around.

Just then, a two foot tall blue dragon walked into the kitchen.

Behind him, a fair skinned girl with chocolate brown hair and periwinkle blue eyes dressed in a bubblegum pink tube top, jean shorts and black sandals phased through the kitchen door.

"You know you could have just opene dthe door, right?" Veemon asked the girl.

"I know, but where's the fun in it?" Katherine 'Kitty' Pryde grinned.

Veemon shrugged at that, knowing he couldn't argue with the girl.

Glancing around the kitchen, Kitty's eyes landed on Davis and she smiled brightly before rushing over to her boyfriend and threw her arms around his shoulders, hanging off of him since he was much taller than she was.

"So, when are we going to be starting our cooking lesson?" She smiled up at him.

Placing his hands on her waist, Davis then swung Kitty around and set the girl down on her feet.

"Right now." He said before kissing her forehead.

"Good luck with that." Kurt waved at them.

"Hey, Kurt, why don't you stay and be our taste tester?" Kitty offered.

Face growing a lighter shade of blue in shock, Kurt then quickly disappeared in a poof of black smoke.

"Huh, wonder what that was about?" Kitty frowned.

Veemon snickered as he pulled up a chair and sat back to watch the mess that was about to happen.

"Don't worry about it." Davis said.

Grabbing a spare apron, he then handed it over to Kitty and pushed her over to the sink.

"Now, the first thing you have to do is wash your hands. You never touch the food you're working with until after you wash your hands." He instructed.

"I already know that, Davis." Kitty sighed as she washed her hands.

Finished with that, Kitty then dried her hands and turned her attention back over to her boyfriend.

"Now what do we do?" She asked him.

"Well, I decided that we would start with making something easy. Like cookies. I already gathered up all of the ingredients that we need." Davis said as he led her over to the table.

Looking over all of the ingredients that mad been laid out, Kitty grinned and grabbed a large mixing bowl.

"Then let's get started!" She chirped.

She grabbed a bag of flour and was about to dump it into the bowl.

"Whoa!" Davis gasped.

Raising his hands, he used his power of molecular immobilization to freeze time and he quickly grabbed the bag of flour before it could be dumped into the bowl.

Lifiting his other hand, Davis then twitched his fingers and allowed time to continue and Kitty gasped in surprise when she found she was no longer holding the flour bag.

She frowned in confusion before turning her attention over to Davis who was holding out a measuring cup to her.

"You don't just dump in any amount of ingredients that you want. You have to follow the recipe." He told his girlfriend.

Now he was starting to realize why everything Kitty made tasted aweful.

It was because she didn't follow the recipes and went wild with throwing in whatever amount of ingredients she wanted.

"But, I don't have the recipe. I usually never have one." Kitty said.

Holding back the look of disbelief on his face, Davis then grabbed the recipe for cookies he had written down and handed it over to Kitty so she could read it.

"You can't properly cook anything unless you have the recipe. Here, it says right here how many cups of flour you need to put in the bowl. Now, I'll set the oven and you can start measuring the flour." Davis said.

Seeing her looking a bit discouraged, Davis kissed her cheek and rubbed her back gently.

"Don't worry about. You're still learning. This is why we're having these lessons. To get better. It's the same thing as training." He smiled at her.

Feeling a bit better, Kitty smiled up at him and leaned into his side, being comforted by the warmth of his body and the smell of blackberries and musk that surrounded him.

"Okay, so I guess we better get to work." Kitty grinned.

With that said, the couple got to work on mixing together the ingredients for the cookies while Veemon sat back to watch them, smiling as he saw how Davis would correct Kitty's mistakes, but was kind about it.

"So, how much of the chocolate chips do I put in?" Kitty asked as she held up the bag.

"The whole bag!" Veemon exclaimed as he bounced over to her side with a large grin on his face.

"No, not the whole bag." Davis interjected as he bumped Veemon on the head with his fist.

That made Veemon pout as his partner pushed him away from the cookie mixture.

"I'd say a cup of chocolate chips should be enough, but if you want to put more, go ahead. Just remember that the more stuff in the mixture will make the batter harder to mix." Davis advised.

"Okay. So, after the chips are in, does that mean they'll be ready to cook?" Kitty asked Davis.

"Yep. I'll get the tray out. You mix the chocolate chips in." Davis told her as he went to dig out the tray from the cabinet.

Pouring what was deemed as the right amount of chocolate chips into the bowl, Kitty then mixed it together and Davis walked back over with the tray.

"Okay, now that's all mixed up, we scoop it up and place it on the tray." Davis said as he grabbed a spoon and scooped it onto the tray.

"Doesn't the tray need to be sprayed first?" Kitty asked curiously.

"Nah. Because of the butter in the batter, it'll be pretty easy to get the cookies off." Davis explained.

Deciding to take his word for it, Kitty helped him fill up the tray with the cookie dough.

They managed to fill up two trays with the cookie dough and then placed then in the oven and set the timer.

"So, what do we do now?" Kitty asked.

"Now, we wash the dishes before the Professor yells at us." Davis said.

Nodding in agreement, Kitty then helped Davis gather up the dirty bowl and other supplies to wash them in the sink and put the ingredients back into the cupboards.

Once the kitchen was cleaned up, the couple hung up their aprons and sat down at the table, drinking glasses of milk along with Veemon.

"Y'know, you could have helped us clean up." Davis brought up as he looked over at Veemon.

"You said I wasn't allowed washing dishes any more after I broke your mom's China." Veemon reminded.

Kitty giggled at that in amusement and brought her glass back up to her lips.

The timer then went off and the couple walked over to the oven.

Grabbing the oven mitts, Davis turned the oven off and then opened it to take out the trays.

Setting the trays on the stove top, Davis glanced them over.

"They look good." He commented.

"They smell good, too." Veemon said as he stared up over the stove.

Nervously, Kitty walked over and stood behind her boyfriend, hoping that she had gotten the recipe right.

"I have an idea. Let's feed these to the newbies and see how they like 'em." Davis smirked.

Using the spatula, Davis scooped the cookies into a tin dish and then carried it off into the living room where a group of teenagers were resting.

These teenagers were Alex Summers, Tabitha Smith, Amara Aquila, Bobby Drake and Ray Crisp.

"Hey guys." Davis greeted making the group look over.

"Hey, D." Alex waved at him.

"What's that smell?" Amara perked up.

"Cookies. You want to try one?" Davis asked as he held the dish out to them.

"Free cookies? You bet!" Bobby grinned.

Reaching over, the teenagers all grabbed a cookie and Kitty looked worried as she watched her friends all take a bite out of them.

Sounds of appreciation were heard as everyone tasted the cookies, each person happy with the treat.

"Not bad." Tabitha commented as she popped the rest of the cookie in her mouth.

Head picking up at that, Kitty walked over and watched as everyone tried the cookies she had made without compalint.

"So, what do you guys think?" Veemon asked the group.

"These are pretty good." Ray shrugged.

Scott Summers and Jean Grey then walked into the room, being lead by the sweet smell of the freshly baked cookies.

"Something smells delicious." Jean smiled.

"I gotta have me some of that." Scott said as he walked over to grab a cookie out of Alex's hand.

"Hey!" Alex complained as he turned to glare up at his brother.

"Behave, both of you." Jean scolded.

She picked up a cookie of her own and took a bite out of it, smiling as she did so.

"These taste great, Davis." Jean complimented.

"Yeah." Scott said.

A large smirk appeared on Davis' face as he then stepped back and pulled Kitty forward.

"Then you'll all be happy to know that Kitty's the one who baked them." He revealed.

Everyone froze at that, shocked by what they had heard as they turned to stare at Kitty who looked sheepish.

"You're joking." Amara finally broke the silence.

"Oh, I forgot. You agreed to help her learn how to cook. Looks like the lesson went well." Jean commented.

Smirking smugly, Davis held the cookie dish in one hand while his other arm wrapped around Kitty's waist, pulling her into his side as she blushed.

"If this is what your cookies taste one lesson, I can't wait to see what everything else will be like." Alex grinned cheerfully as he snatched a cookie from Scott's hand.

"Thanks, guys. But I couldn't have done it without the best teacher in the world." Kitty smiled.

Leaning up, she kissed Davis' cheek, making Ray and Bobby roll their eyes while Tabitha playfully gagged at the sight and Amara giggled.

(The next day...)

Excited to try baking something else, Kitty had dragged Davis back down to the kitchen and they had made pancakes for breakfast.

Everyone had gathered into the kitchen and were greeted with the large pile of pancakes that had been cooked by the couple.

"My, that's quite the spread." Ororo Munroe commented as she took a seat beside Logan who was sipping his coffee and reading his news paper.

"Kinda needed to cook enough for all the students." Davis said as he set the bottles of maple syrup on the table.

Everyone took their seats and gathered up plates of food when Kurt then teleported into the room, looking a bit excited since he heard the news of Kitty becoming a competent cook.

"Ah, pancakes! They look great!" Kurt exclaimed as he counced in his seat.

Grabbing a plate of pancakes that she had set aside, Kitty then passed by a smug looking Davis and a snickering Veemon.

"Here you go, Kurt. Enjoy." Kitty smiled as innocently as she could.

Logan sensed something was going on and turned his eyes onto Davis who was smirking quite deviously.

"Okay, what's going on?" Logan asked the boy who set a container of mixed berries on the table.

"Nothing." Davis said, his voice dripping with mischief.

Not believing a word the boy said, Logan then decided to ignore what was going on and started eating his own pancakes, finding them to taste fine.

Seeing everyone else digging into their meal, Kurt then licked his lips and grabbed his fork, cutting off a piece of the pancake and shoved it into his mouth.

He soon started coughing and gagging which made everyone turn to look at him in surprise while Davis and Veemon both started laughing.

"Salty! It's salty!" Kurt coughed as he grabbed a glass of milk and quickly downed it.

"Huh. What are you talking about, Kurt?" Scott asked.

"Yeah, man. There's nothing wrong with our pancakes." Evan Daniels said as he shoved a piece of the pastry in his mouth.

Sharing a look, Hank McCoy and Charles Xavier both glanced over to the snickering duo and a smug looking Kitty.

"Davis, Kitty, would you two care to explain?" The Professor asked, but looked a bit amused.

"Hey, this was all her idea." Davis laughed, but tried to sober up when Ororo gave him a scolding look.

"Call it payback for all the times you said bad things about my cooking." Kitty huffed as she then took a seat beside her boyfriend.

The other students started laughing while Kurt pouted, knowing that he wouldn't have been able to hide his comments on her cooking from a girl who could walk through walls.

Wrapping an arm around Kitty's shoulders, Davis leaned over to lick the streak of flour that was across the girl's cheek.

The end.
