"Sweet Heart Dance"
Please enjoy and review!
All around the halls of Bayville High there were decorations of pink, red and purple.
From the ceilings hung colorful hearts that had frills around them and the halls were filled with the scent of chocolate and roses.
Male students were also chasing after the female ones, handing over roses and cards, asking them to go to the dance with them.
A small group of teenagers leaning up against the lockers were the only ones who weren't rushing around were simply talking.
"Ugh, I can't believe how hyped up everyone is being about this dance. It's disgusting." Rogue complained as she looked up from the novel she was reading.
"You're only saying that because you don't have a date to the dance yet." Kitty Pryde teased.
That earned the perky brunette a glare from the goth girl.
"Come on, ladies, can you try not to kill each other? School just started." Davis Motomiya said.
He was pulling his books from his locker, preparing for his first class of the day.
"Don't worry so much, Rogue. I'm sure this dance will be fun. Did you hear? Evan is DJ-ing for the dance tonight." Kurt Wagner grinned.
A scoff was heard behind the group of four making them turn to find Pietro Maximoff swaggering over towards them.
"Great, so that means this dance is really gonna suck." The white haired man said.
His hand moved in a blur and he opened his locker, ignoring the glares that he was getting from Kurt, Rogue and Kitty.
They had forgotten that Pietro's locker was beside Davis' since their last names both began with an 'M'.
"Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with you there. If I have to listen to the Festering Boils, then I'm gonna have Scott blast my head off." Davis complained.
That made Pietro chuckle as he glanced over at the only member of the X-Men that he found he could tolerate.
Then again, their lockers were beside each other, forcing the two boys to interact on a daily basis.
"So, who are you geeks taking to the dance?" Pietro questioned as he slammed his locker shut.
"I don't see how that's any of your business." Kurt retorted.
"I was just trying to make conversation, blue boy. Don't get your tail in a knot." Pietro shrugged.
Rolling his eyes at the speedster, Davis turned his gold eyes onto Pietro and gave him a smirk.
"And how many dates are you bringing to this dance, huh, Maximoff?" He questioned.
"You'll just have to wait and see. By the way, Ms. Queen of the School is heading over. Good luck with that." Pietro winked before walking off.
Shaking his head in amusement, Davis then closed his locker and watched as Jean Grey walked around the corner, leafing through her note book.
"So, are you gonna do it? Are you going to ask her out?" Kitty asked with a bright grin.
"I was planning on it." Davis said as he grew nervous.
Rogue seemed to perk up at this.
She had been inside Jean's head before when she touched her and knew for a fact that the redhead had feeling for Davis.
If he were to ask her out, then she would say yes, unless some other guy got to her first and asked her to be their date before Davis could.
"That's great! Go ask her now." Kurt insisted as he smiled at his friend.
"Hey, calm down. I don't want her to overhear us." Davis tried to quiten them down.
Groaning in annoyance, Rogue grabbed Davis' arm with her gloved hand and started pulling him in the direction of Jean.
"Just ask her before someone else does. Don't be a baby." Rogue scolded.
"Whoa, since when are you super strong?" Davis asked as the small goth girl dragged him off.
Rolling her eyes at the boy, Rogue then pulled him forward so he was standing in front of her and shoved him in Jean's direction.
"Go!" She ordered.
Sighing as he realized he wouldn't be able to get out of this without the goth girl losing her temper and possible 'dropping' him with a single touch, Davis turned to look over at Jean.
Satisfied that she had managed to get Davis to make a move, Rogue then walked back over to join Kitty and Kurt as they watched the event that would unfold in front of them.
"Hey, Jean." Davis greeted.
Head picking up, Jean looked over at the burgundy haired, golden eyed boy and smiled at him as he walked up to her.
"Hi, Davis. What's going on?" Jean asked the boy with a bright smile.
Growing a bit nervous, since he always had bad experiences with the girls he liked, Davis tried to push down the worry he felt.
He was also trying to ignore the looks the rest of their friends were giving them as they waited for him to ask the red haired psychic.
"Well, I was wondering... Do you have a date to the dance tonight?" Davis asked.
Green eyes lighting up at the question, Jean smiled up at the male mutant, eager to hear where this conversation was going.
"No, no one's asked me yet. Why do you ask?" Jean asked trying to sound coy.
Rogue, Kurt and Kitty all stood by the lockers with excited expressions on their faces, eager to see how this would work out as they watched on.
Unknown to them, Duncan Matthews spotted Jean talking to Davis and was making his way over with a smug expression on his face, wanting to ask out the pretty redhead before the Japanese boy could.
Before he got too close, Duncan felt a burst of air before he found himself tripping over his own feet.
Confused, he looked down at his feet and saw that his shoe laces had been tied together much to his confuison.
Leaning against a locker a few feet away, Pietro glared at the blond male.
"No way are you ruining this, loser." The speedster growled.
Turning his attention back over to where the two X-Men were located, Pietro watched as Davis finally gathered up his nerve.
"Well, I was wondering if you would go, you know, with me?" Davis asked.
Smiling brightly at finally being asked out by the boy, Jean nodded and ignored the fact that she could hear Pietro, Rogue, Kurt and Kitty all mentally cheering.
Before she could reply, Jean was stopped by Duncan who fixed his laces and walked over to the duo.
"Hey, Jean, there you are. I have something I want to ask you." Duncan said as he pushed Davis out of the way.
Angered by this, Davis' lips pulled back and showed off his fangs at the annoying jock, forcing back the desire to rip him to shreds.
His friends were all hoping he would do it.
"Oh, sorry, Duncan, but Davis was talking to me first." Jean frowned up at the blond.
"What I have to talk to you about is important." Duncan insisted.
"Oh? And what is it about?" Jean raised an eyebrow skeptically.
"I wanted to ask if you wanted to go to the dance with me." Duncan smirked, thinking there was no way she would refuse.
Annoyed with his arrogant thoughts, Jean stepped away from Duncan and walked over to Davis, leaning close to the other mutant and relaxed when she sensed his pure aura.
It called out to her and settled her nerves.
"Sorry, Duncan, but Davis already asked me. We're going to the dance together." Jean told him.
Perking up at this, Davis turned to find the girl smiling at him and he returned the look while Duncan's jaw dropped in shock.
Davis and Jean smiled at each other, ignoring the cheering group of friends, smug looking Pietro and stunned Duncan.
"Great. Hey, how would you feel about going out to eat after? We can go to that diner you like." Davis said as he offered his arm to the redhead.
Smiling brightly, Jean linked her arm with Davis' and they both began to walk off, leaving behind the group who were staring after them.
"That sounds great." Jean said.
Now all she had to do was get Scott Summers to stop being so foolish and to ask Rogue out to the dance and the night would be perfect.
The end.
