"The Raccoon and the Wolverine"
Please enjoy and review!
Lying down on her bed was a burgundy haired woman with tanned skin and brown eyes who had grey triangular shaped ears on her head and a striped tail.
She was dressed in one of her mate's flannel shirts and a pair of black yoga pants as she watched the TV set up in their bedroom, munching on a bowel of strawberries.
Feeling something strange skittering across the skin of her stomach, the racoon girl looked down at her belly and placed her hand over the bump.
"You are really active, aren't cha?" Davinia 'Davey' Motomiya mused.
Rubbing her stomach with a fond smile on her face, she then popped another berry in her mouth when she suddenly heard grunting and cursing from the other room.
Curious, Davey then stood up, huffing with the effort since the baby was kicking once again with her movement, protesting against it.
"Oh, you so get this pig headedness from your father." She complained.
Managing to get up, the raccoon girl walked out of her room and made her way over to the room beside her own to see what was causing the noise.
Seeing the door wide open, Davey poked her head inside to take in the sight of the room.
The walls had been painted blue and had clouds, birds and a field of flowers painted on as well to make it look more appealing.
Standing inside the room were a group of four males.
One was a tall, burly man who was covered in blue fur and had yellow eyes who was looking over paper with instructions on it with a two foot tall blue bipedal dragon.
A tall, muscular brunette with hazel eyes was working on putting together a wooden crib with a brown haired man who was wearing red tinted sunglasses.
"That's not how it's supposed to go. That's the A rod. It goes together with the B rod." Scott Summers said.
Groaning in annoyance at the sun glasses wearing male, the hazel eyed man glared down at Scott.
"I know that. But I can't find the B rod. It's somewhere in all this mess." James 'Logan' Howlett said as he gestured to the pieces of the crib.
"Why are these instructions so complicated? They make no sense! And why are there so many screws?" The dragon, Veemon, complained.
He was holding the small bags that held the screws inside of them and looked confused about what they were supposed to do with them.
"Calm down everyone. Just give me a minute to figure this out. Try to sort through the pieces and match them up with the letters they're labeled with." Henry 'Hank' McCoy instructed.
"That's what we've been trying to do, furball." Logan sighed.
Scott was now holding two wooden rods, looking them over to see if they matched before he set them aside.
"Maybe we should've just let Jean and Ororo do this. They seem to know how to set this up better than we do." Scott commented.
Amused by what she was witnessing in front of her, Davey stepped further into the room and Logan's head picked up along with Hanks', both man catching the girl's scent.
Looking over at the girl, they found her leaning against the frame of the door with an amused expression on her face as her arms were crossed over her stomach, instinctively protecting it.
In this damned house, she always felt the desire to keep her baby protected since it was always being invaded by evil mutants, insane government agents and soldiers or it was being blown up.
"Ah, Davey, hello." Hank greeted.
Hearing this, Scott and Veemon stopped their obsessing over the crib pieces and turned to look at the pregnant woman who had been watching them all.
"Hey, I thought the doctor told you to stay off your feet and rest for a while." Scott said.
"I was, but then I got bored." Davey told him.
That made Veemon snicker, knowing that his partner had far too much energy to burn and she hated being told to sit still all because she was pregnant.
Smirking, Logan then walked over to his mate and placed his hands on her hips, gently pulling her into his chest so he could listen to not only her heart beat, but only the heart beat of their daughter.
"You always get bored too easily." He commented.
"So do you." She accussed as she pouted up at him.
Grinning down at his mate, Logan bent down and nuzzeled his face in her hair, breathing in her scent of strawberry shampoo and the lavender scent of their bed sheets that clung to her.
Watching this, Scott found it shocking to see the big, bad Wolverine turn into someone who was willing to act sweet and affectionate, but he supposed it was possible for anyone.
Ducking her head down, Davey then leaned against Logan's chest as she turned her eyes onto the rest of the males in the room who were staring at the couple.
"Why don't you guys take a break. You've been working on the nursery for hours now." She suggested.
Happily dropping the bags filled with screws onto the floor, Veemon made a show of clapping his hands together to brush off the imaginary dust.
"Works for me. I'm getting pizza. Anyone else up for any?" Veemon asked as he began to leave the room.
"Yeah, sure. We'll just, uh, come back to this later." Scott sighed as he placed the wooden rods down.
Shaking his head in amusement as Hank folded the instruction paper, the blue man then turned his attention over onto the couple.
He smiled at the sight of the wolverine and raccoon as they seemed very content in each other's arms, Logan placing his hand against Davey's belly to feel the baby kicking.
"So, how is my favorite patient today?" Hank smiled at the pregnant woman.
Since they couldn't go to a hospital and trust the doctors there to give them check-ups on their baby, Logan and Davey had decided to come to Hank for his help since he acted as the school's doctor at times.
"Fine. The baby's being a little too active, though. Like right now." Davey grunted when she felt the baby kick.
"She must be telling you something, Davey. You should get back into bed and rest." Hank told her.
This caused the young woman to pout in annoyance while Logan rolled his eyes fondly down at his mate, knowing she was going to be stubborn about this.
"I got her, Doc." Logan said.
Surprising Davey, Logan then easily scooped her up into his arms and started carrying her out of the room.
"Really not in the mood to be carried, Logan." Davey frowned.
"Not caring, you heard the doctor. You need to stay off your feet for the next few days and rest. Any stress is bad for the baby." Logan scolded.
Walking into their bedroom, Logan then kicked the door closed behind him and carried his mate over to their bed, setting her down on the large mattress.
"Me being bored is a bad thing. It stresses me out that I can't do anything." Davey complained.
Sighing since he knew it was the ADHD that was making it difficult for her to stay still for too long, Logan kicked off his boots and laid down on the bed with Davey, pulling her into his side.
Resting her head on her mate's chest, Davey continued to pout as Logan ran his fingers through her hair, working out the tangles from her curly hair.
"Look, I know this has been tough on you, but you only have one more month to go. After that, the baby will be born and you won't have to be stuck lying around anymore." Logan told her.
"Yeah, because I'll be running around to take care of the baby and then I'll never want to leave our bed." Davey muttered.
That caused Logan to chuckle as he ducked his head down to place a kiss on Davey's head, feeling her relax from his touch.
"Not like you're gonna do it alone. You have me, Veemon, Jun, Penguinmon and all the other geeks around here. The kid's gonna be well taken care of, don't worry about it." Logan said.
Humming in responce, Davey curled up closer to her mate and was satisfied to feel her baby settle down and was no longer kicking at her bladder.
She knew he was right.
Their baby was going to be spoiled rotten by the X-Men and the DigiDestineds as soon as she was born.
"Yeah, you're right." Davey muttered as she nuzzeled her face into her mate's chest, breathing in his scent of musk, pine and cigar smoke.
It was an odd scent, but it felt comforting to her and with the warmth radiating from the wolverine feral's body, she felt at ease and close to falling asleep.
Reaching over for the remote that was on the bedside table, Logan grabbed it and changed the chanel onto an old western movie as he felt his mate beginning to drift off.
Turning his attention back onto Davey, he grinned to find her fighting to stay awake, but her eyes kept drooping shut.
"Take a nap, darlin'." He whispered to her.
"Are you going to stay here?" Davey asked quietly as her vision started to fade in and out.
Wrapping an arm around her waist to gently rub at her hip and placing his other hand on top of the smaller one that was placed on his chest, Logan settled back and allowed himself to relax as well.
"Don't have anywhere else to be." He told her.
With the confirmation that her mate wouldn't be leaving her side, Davey stopped fighting to stay awake and happily fell into a peaceful sleep.
The end.
