"The Story of Davis"
Please enjoy and review!
Sitting in the Salvatore Boarding house, Rebekah Mikaelson stared down at the sleeping form of the beautiful young man who was curled up in bed.
She had invited Davis over to do homework with him as a excuse to spend more time with him.
After they had completed the science work, Davis had fallen asleep and Rebekah had tucked him into her bed, smiling down at him with a gentle smile on her face.
Leaning down, Rebekah rested her head on his chest, relaxing against him as the warmth of his body consumed her.
As she relaxed against him and breathed in his comforting scent, Rebekah drifted off into a memory from the past.
Picking up the skirt of her blue dress, Rebekah wandered through the forest, searching for the herbs that her mother sent her out to gather.
While she was searching, she heard the voice of two people laughing and feeling curious, she followed after the sound.
Peeking out from around a tree, she found a handsome young man with shoulder length raspberry colored hair, chocolate brown eyes and caramel colored skin who was dressed in a blue tunic and brown pants.
He was playing with a small girl who had chestnut brown hair, ivory skin and green eyes, raising her above his head and making it seem like she was flying.
Rebekah recognized them as two members of the family who had recently moved into the village after the death of the young female member's husband.
The woman was quite beautiful and had a daughter that she loved dearly and seemed to greatly adore her older brother who looked after his sister and niece.
"I'm a bird! I'm a bird!" The girl giggled.
"Yes, you are! Try not to fly too far away, though." The young man laughed.
Smiling at the sight before her, Rebekah sat back and watched as the newcomer to the village continued to play with his niece.
"Davis!" Someone called.
Jumping in surprise, Rebekah turned to see a chestnut haired woman with light brown eyes and ivory skin dressed in a green dress was making her way over to the raspberry haired male.
Spotting his sister, Davis smiled at her and set his niece down, allowing the girl to rush over to her.
"Mama!" The girl cried happily.
Smiling brightly, the woman bent down and pulled her daughter into a hug, kissing her temple.
"Thank you again for watching over Diana while I did the laundry, Davis." The woman said.
"Tatia, why must you act like I am doing you a favor? I love looking after Diana. It's no trouble at all." Davis smiled down at his sister.
That made Tatia smile adoringly at Davis, happy that she had a wonderful brother like him to support her and take care of her daughter.
Smiling at the sight of the family, Rebekah then snuck away, hoping to one day experience what it was like to have a child with a husband who would adore them both.
Snapping out of her memory, Rebekah heard the footsteps of an angered doppelganger rushing up into the room.
"Where is he?" Elena Gilbert demanded.
It always stunned Rebekah how Elena looked like a duplicate of Tatia, but she was nowhere near as wise, gentle or caring as the Viking widow was.
"Keep your voice down, Elena. We wouldn't want to disturb dear Davis' sleep." Rebekah said as she slid off the bed.
Staring down at the bed, worry etched itself onto Elena's face when she found her cousin lying there and she rushed over, checking him over to make sure he was fine.
"Davis? Davis, can you hear me?" Elena called.
"Drive it all the way through. Use the element of surprise. Take advantage of situation..." Davis muttered in his sleep.
Alaric Saltzman was teaching the cousins how to fight off vampires and Davis was excelling very well in the teachings.
But, he was overworking himself in the training, especially since he had been helping Elena get back into shape after she quit cheerleading and had also been training with Jeremy Gilbert in secret to make sure both of his cousins knew how to protect themselves.
"Poor darling. He looks so overworked. Your fault, I presume." Rebekah said.
Turning to glare up at the Original, Elena stood up and stormed over to her.
"Why are you so interested in Davis? Is it just so you can get to me somehow?" Elena demanded.
"Oh, please. Things don't revolve around you constantly. I chose to spend time with Davis because he's the only person here who doesn't get on my nerves." Rebekah sneered down at her.
"But why? I know Davis has something to do with all of this. Elijah was shocked when he saw the two of us together. And Katherine has never once targeted him. If anything, she's actually...nice to him. Why is that? What part does Davis have in all of this?" Elena asked.
Hearing the boy moaning in his sleep, the two girls looked over and found Davis turning onto his side, hugging a pillow close to him as he continued to mutter in his sleep, this time about football.
"We'll continue this in another room. Let him sleep." Rebekah said.
Walking out of Rebekah's bedroom, the two girls went downstairs into the kitchen, leaving Davis to continue sleeping peacefully.
"Okay, tell me what's going on. Why is Davis so important?" Elena demanded as Rebekah took out a bottle of wine.
"You probably don't know this, but the original doppelganger, Tatia, she had an older brother. His name was also Davis." Rebekah revealed.
This stunned Elena as she stared at Rebekah, wondering if this was true.
Thinking back, Elena remembered how Katherine was always hesitant whenever Davis was around.
Also, if Davis asked Katherine for information on the doppelgangers or the Originals, the vampire was willing to tell him anything he desired.
"Did-Did Katherine have a brother named Davis, too?" Elena asked.
"She did. Unlike with you, Katerina and Tatia both loved Davis. They adored him with all their hearts. My family also loved him. He was best friends with my brothers Nik and Kol." Rebekah said.
Closing her eyes briefly, she remembered how Davis would always practice his sword fighting skills with Niklaus and how he would listen intently to Kol as he showed off his magic powers.
Then there was sweet Henrik who adored Davis and looked up to him, always telling Rebekah how he couldn't wait for the two of them to get married so that the raspberry haired man would be a member of their family.
"That's not true! I do love Davis." Elena insisted.
"You don't seem to show it very well. Let me explain something to you, Elena. The reason why Davis is constantly reincarnated is because he is meant to love and protect his sister, the Petrova doppelganger. But something must have gone wrong this time around because you two are not siblings." Rebekah frowned.
"What happened to Davis? I mean, all of those times he's been reborn. How did he die during those times?" Elena demanded.
"The first time, with us, Davis was willing to still be around us, but then Mikael killed him. He said he was doing him a kindness to kill him instead of allowing him to become a monster for the rest of eternity. The second life, Nik accidentally killed him. You know the story, I presume. Katerina ran away from Nik and turned into a vampire. To get revenge, Nik found her family and slaughtered them all. He was blinded by his rage. It wasn't until he calmed down that he realized he had killed Davis." Rebekah revealed.
Breathing deeply, Klaus stared down at his blood soaked hand and stared down at the body of the young man who was lying on the ground in front of him.
"Davis? No, no!" Klaus yelled.
Rushing to the boy's side, Klaus looked him over and found that he had ripped the lookalike of his best friend's spleen out and he was losing quite a bit of blood.
Turning chocolate brown eyes onto the blood vampire, Davis gave him an angered, yet fearful expression.
"Zashto napravi tova (Why did you do this)?" He asked.
Coughing up blood, Davis felt his body grow cold and Klaus felt helpless, just like when his family had found the boy lying half dead when Mikael had gotten his hands on him.
"I'm truly sorry, my friend. I never meant to hurt you." Klaus said.
"That was the first time in years that Nik felt remorse for what he had done. I guess you could say, all of us have a weakness when it comes to Davis." Rebekah gave a wry smile.
Finally arriving back home, Katherine was horrified to find all of her family had been killed.
Crying, Katherine searched the house for her beloved brother, passing by the bodies of her parents and cousins.
Eventually, she opened the door to her brother's room and found him lying on his bed, blood covering his body.
"Ne! Molya ne (No! Please, no)!" Katherine begged.
Rushing over to her brother's body and ignoring the tempting scent of his blood, Katherine pulled Davis into her arms and held him gently to her breast, sobbing into his beautiful hair.
"Molya te, Deivis, otvori ochi. Ne me ostavyaite (Please, Davis, open your eyes. Don't leave me)." She sobbed.
Fighting off the tears she felt filling her eyes, Rebekah then turned to Elena with an expression of hatred.
The doppelganger looked heartbroken as she was told the story of her cousin, shocked to learn that he had been through so much pain and horror all because of her and the rest of the doppelgangers.
"So, that's it, huh?" Someone spoke up.
Jolting in shock, the two girls whipped around to find Davis standing there, staring at the two of them with a hardened expression on his face.
"Davis, when did you wake up?" Elena asked as she made to walk up to him.
When he turned his eyes onto his cousin, Davis envisioned three different women who looked exactly like her, only with curly hair and wearing old timed dresses, walking up to him instead.
Ever since he had first moved to Mystic Falls, he had been having strange dreams about three different women who called themselves Amara, Tatia and Katerina.
He had no idea that they were all actually his sisters from a past life, but he had felt how much they all loved him.
Even Katherine still seemed to love him, considering she had hugged him while she was pretending to be Elena when she first arrived in town.
"Not too long ago. I gotta say, all of that stuff you've been saying, it feels really familiar." Davis said as he turned his gaze onto Rebekah.
Laughing, Rebekah held hands with Davis as he led her through the flower field that surrounded the falls.
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" She asked.
"The falls look best at night. It's dazzling. You'll love it." Davis smiled lovingly at her.
Blushing brightly, Rebekah followed Davis, picking up her skirt so she wouldn't trip.
Arriving at the falls, Rebekah stared in awe at the sight of the water and the mist that surrounded the lake.
"It's beautiful." Rebekah exclaimed.
Slipping on the wet grass, Rebekah almost fell into the lake, but Davis managed to grab her around the waist and steady her in time.
Staring up at Davis from under her eyelashes, Rebekah smiled at him and blushed a deeper shade of red as he ducked his head down, pulling her into a kiss.
Snapping out of the memory, Davis saw the hopeful expression on her face and knew that it must pain Rebekah to see him every day, knowing that he had no memory of their time together.
"Elena, you should go home now. I don't know when Stefan is gonna show up, but I don't want you anywhere near that sociopath." Davis told her.
"But..." Elena protested.
"No buts! For once, listen to me when I am trying to do things to protect you!" Davis snapped.
Closing her mouth, Elena realized that Rebekah was right.
Davis constantly did everything in his power to keep her safe, but she basically spat in his face every time she disobeyed him by running off after the Salvatores.
She was going to have to start listening to him more often, especially since he had ideas that would keep her safe.
Nodding, Elena left the room, intent on returning home, wanting to show her cousin that she did care about his opinions.
Stunned that she had actually listened to him, Davis stared after Elena, making sure she actually left before he turned his attention back onto the beautiful Original in the room.
"Will it be a bad thing if I kissed you right now?" Davis asked.
"Do you remember?" Rebekah asked him.
"Starting to." He confirmed.
Smiling brightly, Rebekah rushed up to Davis, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, pulling the muscular male down so that she could kiss him.
Once those cherry flavored lips touched his, Davis felt a tidal wave of memories crash down on him, smiling as he remembered all of the times he spent with his lovely fiancé.
Wrapping his arms around Rebekah, Davis held her close to him and gently nibbled on her lower lip, making her coo softly as she pressed herself against him.
Slowly pulling back from the sweet tasting lips of her lifelong love, Rebekah smiled up at him.
"This time, I'm not letting you get away from me." She told him.
Smiling at that, Davis bent his head down and rubbed his nose against Rebekah's, making her grin happily up at him.
"I don't have any issue with that." He said.
"Good." She chirped.
The next thing Davis knew, he was upstairs and Rebekah was pushing him down on her bed, crawling on top of him.
The end.
