"A Very Digi-Blade Christmas"
Please enjoy and review!
Motomiya Daisuke was in the kitchen at the Kinomiya dojo, tying a red apron around her before she then walked over to the fridge to pull out the turkey that had been placed inside during the night to defrost.
Placing it on the counter, the 19 year old then got to work taking off the plastic wrapping and cut off the plastic ties before she then started cleaning out the inside of the turkey.
"Give me that candy cane!" A male voice yelled.
"No, you had four of them already! This one's mine!" A younger male voice yelled back.
Sighing at this, Daisuke kept cleaning out the turkey when she heard the two arguing males burst into the kitchen as they fought over a candy cane.
Turning to look over her shoulder, Daisuke found Kinomiya Takao and Sumeragi Daichi rolling on the ground as they had the large white, green and red candy cane trapped between their hands.
"Takao! Daichi! What are you doing?" Daisuke yelled at the two boys.
Pausing in their struggle, the bluenette and the redhead looked over at the older female as she stood before them with her hands placed on her hips with an annoyed look on her face.
"Daichi took the last candy cane!" Takao complained.
"Only because you ate all the other ones!" Daichi pointed an accusing finger at him.
"I bought that pack for myself with my own money! They're mine to eat!" Takao yelled back.
Groaning in disbelief, Daisuke narrowed her chocolate brown eyes in anger as she walked over to the two boys and swiped the candy cane out of their hands.
"Hey!" They complained.
"Shut up! Now, didn't I tell you two to stay out of the kitchen for today?" She scolded making the two boys pout.
They knew how annoyed she got when she had to cook and someone barged into the kitchen while she was working.
The last time they did this during Thanksgiving, she looked ready to murder someone.
"Rei will be back with the rest of the food for Christmas dinner, and we can't cook with you two barging in here and complaining about something." The raspberry haired teen continued.
Seeing that both boys were calm as they listened to her, Daisuke sighed as she then spotted V-Mon, Tachibana Hiromi, Mizuhara Max, Motomiya Jun, Lunamon and Manabu 'Kyoju' Saien were peering into the room around the doorway.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself before she got violent, Daisuke brushed her bangs back and stared back down at the dragon wielding duo.
"Okay, look. Takao did pay for these, so they belong to him." Daisuke said as she handed the large candy cane to the bluenette who grinned in satisfaction.
Daichi pouted at this, hating the fact that the spoiled teen got whatever he wanted once again.
"But, there is a box filled with tiny candy canes that hasn't been opened yet. Daichi, you can have those. Okay?" Daisuke asked.
"Yes." The little redhead nodded.
"Good. Now, get out of my kitchen before you are forced to face not only my wrath, but Daeva's as well." The girl warned.
Not wanting to deal with the enraged girl and her dangerous wolverine Bit Beast, the boys rushed out of the kitchen as quickly as possible.
As the two boys rushed off, they ran by Hiwatari Kai who watched them and shook his head since he knew that they had already broken the rule of venturing into the kitchen when they were told only an hour ago not to.
Walking over to the kitchen, he found the others all standing around the doorway as they stared at Daisuke who was muttering curses under her breath as she started taking food out of the fridge and cabinets.
Clearing his throat, Kai watched as everyone jumped and whirled around to see the dual haired male standing behind them.
"Don't you have elsewhere to be?" He questioned.
"Relax, Kai! We only followed Takao and Daichi to make sure they didn't cause any damage." Jun smiled at the male.
"I thought we were here to make sure Daisuke didn't butcher them?" Max blinked in confusion.
"There's that too." Jun nodded.
Sighing at this, Kai glanced into the kitchen to find the sole female blader of G-Revolution was working on getting everything ready for dinner.
Every year she and Rei Kon would work together to cook up a feast for the team's family members, but the two became overly stressed out with all the work and tended to get a bit nasty with anyone who bothered them in the kitchen.
They expected Daisuke to get nasty with them since she was temperamental, but last year everyone was stunned beyond all belief when Takao's older brother Hitoshi walked into the kitchen when the duo were busy cooking and Rei was the one who threw a heavy pot at the older male, hissing at him like an enraged cat to get out of their kitchen.
Hitoshi never went into the kitchen while the neko-jin was in there ever again while Daisuke had a good laugh about the memory every time she saw the man rushing out of the kitchen when he spotted Rei inside of it.
"Hey, why don't we all go out to ice skate? It's the perfect weather for it." Hiromi suddenly suggested.
"That sounds like a lovely idea." Lunamon agreed as Jun picked her up.
Everyone agreed to the idea and they rushed off to get ready while Kai walked off to the living room to read a book since the dojo would be empty for a while and he would get some peace for a few hours.
(Later on...)
Rei finally arrived back home with the groceries and was stunned when he walked into the silent dojo.
"Um, hello? I'm back!" Rei called as he closed the door behind him.
When no one answered him, Rei began to grow a bit worried about where everyone was.
He hoped Daisuke or Kai didn't finally lose their tempers and murder everyone.
Walking further into the house, the Chinese male heard Russian music playing softly from the living room and he glanced inside to find Kai sitting on the chair.
He was reading a large book with a content air around him and he sipped at the tea cup he had brought in with him.
This had to be the most peaceful Rei had ever seen Kai when the male wasn't sleeping.
"Hey, Kai, where is everyone?" He asked.
Head lifting up, Kai's crimson eyes landed on Rei's golden ones.
"They went out ice skating. Daichi and Takao got into a fight over a candy cane and Daisuke had to break it up." Kai explained as he sipped his tea.
"You're kidding." Rei groaned.
Kai grunted at that before he eyed the bags his teammate was carrying.
"Do you need any help with those?" He asked.
"Nah, I'll be fine." Rei shook his head with a small smile.
The Japanese male was so content and at ease that Rei didn't want to disturb that, especially since he knew it would be ruined when Takao and Daichi both got home.
"If you say so." Kai shrugged as he went back to reading his book.
He was silently mouthing the words under his breath and from the way his lips were moving, Rei assumed that Kai was reading a Spanish novel which didn't surprise the neko-jin.
After all, Kai liked to challenge himself by learning new languages.
Walking into the kitchen, Rei found Daisuke sitting down at the table, sipping at a mug of tea as she tried to relax and watched over the turkey.
He also noticed that she had baked the rolls and had finished a macaroni salad completed.
"Hey, you all right?" The Chinese asked as he set the bags down on the table.
"I'm tired and can't wait for this day to be over already." Daisuke grumbled.
Giving the girl a look of amusement, Rei walked over to her and placed his hands down on her shoulders, working out the tension he felt growing there.
"Don't worry. We'll get through this together. Hopefully, without a massacre happening." Rei said.
"Don't count on it." Daisuke muttered.
Chuckling at that, Rei then gathered up all of the groceries and started cooking the rest of the food for dinner and Daisuke joined him.
When the rest of the team members returned, they were about to head into the kitchen for some hot chocolate, but Kai stopped them, reminding them of the dangers of bothering the tiger master and wolverine mistress while they were cooking.
Everyone had rushed into the living room to watch Christmas specials and an aggravated Kai left to go to his room for some peace and quiet, passing by the kitchen to see Rei and Daisuke working together to get everything ready.
Rei had gotten his long hair stuck in the fridge and Daisuke chuckled in amusement as she walked over, freeing his long mane and pecked his cheek making him blush in embarrassment.
Kai rolled his eyes fondly at his teammates and left them alone to work.
Four hours later, the food was all complete and the turkey was finished cooking.
Taking the turkey out of the oven, Rei set it down and started cutting it up to place the meat on a fancy glass platter while Daisuke carried the food over to the table where the dishes and silverware were all set up.
"Finally, we're done!" Daisuke exclaimed in relief and threw herself into a chair.
Rei chuckled at that as he set the cut up turkey in the center of the table, gazing down at his girlfriend in amusement.
"Why do we do this again? Why do we always cook the dinner by ourselves?" Daisuke asked gazing up at him.
"Because no one else knows how to cook. They'd probably just order the food." Rei said.
"Hey, there's an idea. For New Year's, we're ordering the food. I am not going through with this again. It's exhausting." Daisuke whined.
Rolling his golden eyes in amusement, Rei bent down and kissed the raspberry haired girl's forehead.
"Come on; let's go tell everyone the food is finished." Rei said as he held a hand out to help her up.
Groaning at the thought of the stampede that was about to happen, Daisuke took hold of Rei's hand and allowed the neko-jin to help her onto her feet.
Chibimon then scurried into the kitchen, pausing when he saw the couple taking off their aprons and hanging them up.
"Is dinner ready yet?" The blue dragon asked.
"Yep, it's done. Now we just have to get everyone down here and watch all our wonderful work get scarfed down and the kitchen destroyed." Daisuke sighed.
This made Chibimon giggle as the girl carried him off into the living room where everyone was waiting for the food to be finished and Rei followed close behind her.
Walking into the living room, they found everyone sitting down watching the Grinch while Daichi and Tako were wrestling on the ground, but were ignored by everyone else.
"Guys, dinner is ready!" Rei announced.
Takao and Daichi cheered as they jumped up onto their feet, running into the kitchen while an angered Daisuke and Hiromi yelled after them to slow down before they got into an accident.
Kai walked out of his bedroom, hearing the sounds of the boys yelling about the food and knew it was time to eat.
Daisuke and Rei sat down at the head of the table, the place the couple always sat since they prepared all of the meals for the loud mouthed family they had.
Once the dinner was finally over, Daisuke and Rei climbed into their shared bedroom, dropping onto their bed in exhaustion.
"I might second that vote to order food next time." Rei sighed.
That made Daisuke chuckle as she turned onto her side and snuggled into Rei's side, taking comfort in his warm body since the room felt a little chilly.
Smiling down at Daisuke, the neko-jin nuzzled his face into her hair while Chibimon crawled up onto the bed to join them, hiding under the blankets for warmth.
Reaching over to the bedside table, Rei turned off the lamp and pulled the blanket up over himself and Daisuke, pulling the girl closer before he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The end.
