"Building a Relationship"

A continuation of chapter 120. Please enjoy and review!

Upstairs in the attic, Davia "Davey" Motomiya was looking through all of the family heirlooms that had been packed away over the years.

Carol Lockwood, the mayor's wife, asked Davey's mother if they could lend some of their heirlooms to the exhibit they were having for the 150th Founders' party.

Being descendants of the Blackwells, that made the Motomiya family part of the Founding Families and they had to attend the event.

Opening a large trunk, Davey found some old photo albums inside and pulled them out to look them over.

"Is this really what people used to wear over a hundred years ago?" Veemon asked.

Glancing over to where her dragon was standing, Davey found herself smiling at the sight of him wearing an old coat from the 1800s.

"I still can't believe my family kept all of this stuff. Its nuts." Davey commented.

"So, what exactly does Mrs. Lockwood want us to find for the display thingie?" Veemon asked as he took off the coat.

"I don't know. Maybe some old jewelry or pocket watches." Davey shrugged.

Nodding at that, Veemon went back to searching through all of the objects that were scattered around the attic, passing by an old vanity and wardrobe.

Searching through the pictures, Davey soon came across one at the very bottom of the trunk that made her heart leap.

It was an old black and white photo of her and Damon Salvatore when she was first born as Daisy Blackwell.

Damon's hair was a bit longer and seemed to be curled at the ends and he was smiling brightly as his arm was linked with Daisy's.

Speaking of the woman, Daisy had long flowing hair that was done in curls and she wore a short sleeved dress and there was a necklace she wore that caught Davey's attention.

It was the same one that her mother had given her on her 16th birthday.

Reaching up to touch the white gold necklace that had a simple rose quartz charm attached to it, Davey felt a memory force itself to the forefront of her mind.

Sitting down on the stone bench in front of the orchid garden in the back of the Blackwell manor, Daisy smiled up at Damon as he sat beside her.

"It took a while; but it was made just in time. Happy birthday, Daisy." Damon said as he pulled a small box out of his coat pocket and handed it over to the woman.

Accepting the gift, Daisy opened it and gasped in awe at the sight of the necklace that lay inside.

"Damon, it's beautiful." Daisy exclaimed.

"This is called rose quartz. The stone represents love." Damon explained.

Smiling at him, Daisy leaned over and placed a kiss on Damon's cheek which caused the man to grin brightly.

"I love it. Thank you." She said and smiled as she saw Damon's cheek burn red.

Snapping out of her memory, Davey decided to keep the picture and would find a frame for it while she went shopping for a dress with Caroline Forbes, Bonnie Bennett and Elena Gilbert.

"Davey, look at this vase I found! It's huge!" Veemon called.

Standing up, Davey walked over to where her partner was located.

(At the boarding house...)

Standing in front of a mirror, Damon was looking over his appearance, fixing his hair properly.

His attention was then pulled to his younger brother Stefan who stepped into the room.

"Going somewhere?" Stefan asked.

"Yep. I'm going to Davey's house to ask her to the Founder's party. Speaking of, you two are now best friends. Does she still like orchids?" Damon asked him.

"Um, I'm not sure. Wh-What about Caroline? I thought you two were...a thing." Stefan said.

He knew that Damon simply kept Caroline around as a personal source for blood and had no real feelings for her, but Stefan wondered if things were going to change now that his brother had his true love back.

"Oh, we broke up. It was a mutual thing. And before you start, I healed her up. Don't want Davey to see those bite marks and get suspicious." Damon informed.

"I see. Are you serious about this? About wanting to start something with Davey? Before you ask, her real name is Davia." Stefan said as he gave his brother a questioning look.

"Davia. Pretty. And yes, I am serious about her. She was my fiancé and I want her back here with me. If I have to woo her all over again, then I will. I'm not letting her go ever again." Damon said.

Stefan stared at his brother, hoping that it was true that Damon wanted to take care of Davey and be with her.

Hopefully he wouldn't hurt the girl.

Davey was tough and didn't seem like the type to let anyone mess with her, but Stefan still worried over her.

Leaving the room, Damon went into a flower shop and picked up a bouquet of orchids, knowing that they were once Daisy's favorite flowers and hoped she still liked them.

Pushing down the nervous feeling he felt, Damon rushed off to the Blackwell house and stood on the front steps.

Noticing the doorbell on the side, he lifted the small casing over it and pressed it and listened to the sound of the high pitched bell ringing.

Plastering a smile on his face, Damon watched to see the door being opened by a tall woman with long bright pink hair and brown eyes.

"Hello, can I help you?" The woman asked.

"Hi, I'm Damon Salvatore. I'm a friend of Davey's. Is she here?" He asked.

Eyes lighting up in recognition of the name Salvatore being used, the woman glanced behind her.

"Davia, get down here! Someone's here to see you!" She called.

"Coming!" Damon heard Davey call and her footsteps were growing closer.

Turning to look at the young man, the pinkette gave him a polite smile.

"Would you like to come inside Damon?" She asked.

"I would love to." Damon grinned and stepped inside the house.

"So, you never told me your name." Damon commented.

"Oh, right, sorry. I'm Kaia. So, how do you know Davia?" She questioned.

"She's friends with my younger brother. We were introduced the other night at Elena's house." Damon explained.

He heard someone's heart beat pick up and knew that it was Davey's since she started jogging down the stairs and jumped over the last three steps to get to him quicker.

"Hi, hi, Damon. What're you doing here?" Davey asked with a fake smile on her face.

She wasn't sure how to react to the fact that a vampire had been invited into her home.

Deep down, she knew Damon would never hurt her since the two of them used to be lovers, but that didn't mean he wouldn't harm her mother or sister.

"Well, I came to ask you to come to the Founders' Party with me." Damon smiled as he handed over the flowers.

Blinking at that in surprise, Davey accepted the flowers and an old memory of a shy and bashful Damon handing her a small bouquet entered her mind and made her smile.

Kaia stood off to the side, watching her daughter smiling while the man stared down at her with a look of utter adoration.

The only boys she had ever seen look at her daughter in a similar way were Ken Ichijouji and Willis Stuart, but their expressions weren't as open and loving as the one on Damon's face.

"Well, what do you say?" Damon asked.

"Sure, why not? It could be fun." Davey smiled.

That made Damon grin and he leaned down to press a kiss to Davey's cheek.

"Great. I'll be back at 4:00 to pick you up." He told her.

"Sounds great. I'll see you later tonight." Davey said.

"Great. Nice meeting you, Kaia." Damon grinned at the pinkette.

"You, too." Kaia smirked.

Winking down at the raspberry haired teen, Damon then backed out of the house and left to go get ready for the party that night.

"Well, he was cute. Nice to see the tall dark and handsome type are to your taste." Kaia teased.

"Mom, shut up." Davey blushed.

Kaia laughed at that and started pulling her daughter up the stairs.

"Come on; let's go get you ready for your date. I want you to surprise him so bad that he chokes on his own tongue." Kaia grinned.

"Why are the people in our family all crazy?" Davey muttered.

Then again, she supposed she had to crazy to actually be considering a relationship with a vampire.

The end.
