...
When I first stepped onto the Bifrost Bridge itself, I was admittedly a little awed as my gaze turned towards the side. Taking in the constellation of stars and galaxies that showed up.
It was honestly, one of the most breath-taking sights I'd ever seen.
For a moment, I couldn't help but just stand there, completely disregarding the party I was walking with as I took it in. Odin, for whatever reason obliging me as he bade his soldiers let me past so I could stand at the very edge.
I breathed out a sigh of appreciation as I simply took it all in.
"How any of you could get used to a sight like this is beyond me..." The words escaped my mouth, earning a snort from someone.
"We're thousands of years old, we see this every day." Thor idly remarked, his expression hidden from my view.
It took me another moment before I realized something.
Taking out the piece of paper I'd thankfully taken with me, I promptly crouched down onto the floor and started writing.
"That'll take just a mo, ya'll grabbed me whilst I was busy." I deadpanned as I scribbled down a note for one Tony Stark.
Taking a step back, I promptly started spinning my hand before me- in view of the sea of stars of course, and watched as the portal opened up.
I kept my face standing ahead, not really wanting to see the myriad number of expressions behind me.
When the portal opened up fully, I stuck my head through and made sure it led to Tony Stark's lab.
Said man was of course nowhere in sight.
"Jarvis, tell Tony I've left a message!" I deadpanned into the portal and promptly dropped the piece of paper, the note meant to warn Fury I'd been transported to Asgard because the oafs there needed my help and should be back soon.
And to, you know, not take it out on Banner.
I had a feeling the man was going to be somewhat tense at my sudden disappearance.
I would've mentioned Jane Foster as well, except, well-
I promptly removed my head, closed the portal, and immediately opened another one up.
Poking my head in, immediately regretting the action at the sudden shriek, slap, and apology that resounded through in that order, I told the girl to get ready and take my hand, just in case she walked through the wrong side.
To her credit, she didn't even ask why.
I really should be worried about that...
Regardless, I poked my head back out and dangled my right hand in, while locking gazes with everyone behind me.
"This'll take just a second." I deadpanned.
"...Is he planning-"
"Yes. Brother, I think he is." Loki snorted.
"You can't just bring people into this realm!" Thor remarked, somewhat indignant.
I turned to look at Odin, the man's curious expression somewhat surprising.
I'd expected him to have the biggest outburst in truth.
"You want me to take this seriously?" I questioned, "I really recommend letting her through."
"So long as it is not an army, you are free to bring in any hostages we may use against you."
I blinked at the words.
"Was that a joke? Or did you just sign up for strike two?" I questioned incredulously.
The Asgardian had the audacity to shrug.
A grin slowly grew on my face.
"Oh, I am starting to like you."
"There's a first." Loki snorted again. "You'll find father isn't the most well-received by almost anyone."
"Brother-"
"I can totally see that."
Odin let out a terse breath at that, his patience clearly running thin-
He promptly started walking towards me, reaching the portal, and completely ignoring the dangling arm I had inside it as he peeked into it himself.
"If you could hurry-"
Whatever he'd been about to say disappeared as a loud intake of breath was suddenly heard from the man, his head rapidly pulled back, with a large red imprint on the side of his cheek. His expression was utterly gobsmacked.
"Pervert!"
The sudden sound echoed through the clearly more stable portal.
I hadn't been entirely sure whether sound travelled through it or not- Or maybe it was just my own one specifically? It certainly didn't work like any other.
I kept a passive expression on my face as I locked gazes with Odin.
"...Did she just slap you?"
Odin chose not to answer, instead letting out a huff as he walked back towards his previous position. Every single one of his followers, including a snickering Loki and a baffled Thor likely wondering why the man would let such a thing stand-
Oh my god.
I promptly stuck my head inside the portal, my eyes widening and laughter bubbling as I took in the half-dressed form of a very embarrassed Jane Foster.
"Oh, I should've known it had something-"
"
You just slapped the King of Asgard." I deadpanned towards her, shutting up whatever she'd been about to say. "Well done."
And promptly poked my head out the moment I saw the sudden twitch on her face, my laughter finally coming out in waves.
"...Father-" Thor started, only for Odin to abruptly turn a glare towards him.
"We will not speak of this." The Asgardian stated, absolutely serious as he turned the glare towards me.
I covered my mouth, barely suppressing my snickers.
Jane Foster just accidentally flashed Odin of Asgard.
"...So, on a scale of one out of ten how much would you rate-" I questioned, letting my hand down.
"Finish that sentence, and you'll find yourself very acquainted with the stars below."
"...Spoilsport."
"I am beginning to regret this decision."
Thor gave his agreement.
"I very much disagree." Loki snorted, crossing his arms. "This has been delightful. And we've only just started."
And with those words, I suddenly felt a tug at my hand, causing me to quickly pull the girl through.
Jane Foster, for a moment, seemed to widen her eyes at the number of people surrounding us, minutely moving in closer towards me as she began to whisper something into my ear.
"What happened with Fury?"
The woman just slapped the king of the Nine Realms, and she's more worried about the shady spymaster.
I wasn't sure whether to be proud or genuinely worried about her.
Though before I could answer, I watched as her attention shifted the moment she realised what we were standing on, her breath practically stolen as she took in Space below us in all its glory.
Idly scratching the side of my head, and appraising the fact Odin's patience was very clearly running thin, I slowly urged the girl to keep moving along the Bifrost. A near-silent whisper asking her to keep silent for the time being, her eyes turning between the people, mostly the woman warriors for some reason given I'd figured Thor to at least get a look from her, surrounding us and the stars below and of course the king she'd flashed and slapped. Her hands, for whatever, in vice-lock around my elbow.
"Oh right, welcome to Asgard." I deadpanned, before turning back towards Odin. "You know, there's nothing stopping you from giving me a hint on what you need help on the way?" I stated, somewhat more seriously.
Anything that called for Odin to give the Thor timeline its killing blow couldn't be good at all.
"It can wait." The man remarked curtly, his expression a lot more neutral now that we'd started making some way ahead, though his gaze did seem to straighten up at my sudden change in tone. The barest hint of amusement filtering through his expression for whatever reason.
Regardless, with that avenue clearly closed off, I turned towards the one guy I knew would tell me anything provided it got on everyone else's nerves.
"Loki?"
The frost giant rolled his eyes at me.
"You're not that entertaining."
"...Challenge accepted."
Jane Foster idly slapped me upside the head for that one, earning a snort out of Thor.
"I've been wanting to do that ever since Umar started causing trouble." The man barked out goodnaturedly, before immediately covering his mouth.
Odin did not grab the bridge of his nose, but he definitely looked like he wanted to.
"Idiot." Loki promptly slapped Thor upside the head.
Odin only immediately sighed as the two brothers promptly started trying to snipe each other with slaps.
All the while, the soldiers surrounding us had to keep a completely straight face as they followed on from behind.
What even was happening anymore?
How on earth did things get to this point?
And who in the hell was Umar?
