Alright, welcome to my second honkai fanfic that I will be working on alongside 'Kaslana's Oath: Ascension'. I just felt the need to right a story where Fu Hua wasn't betrayed and was never weakened by her disciples.
I wanted to see if I could perhaps make the story into something more than it was, but admittedly, I haven't really put a lot of thought into this story. That being said I'm hoping that you as the readers will help me come up with some plot as we continue moving through.
Hope you enjoy
We all know the tale of Fu Hua. A warrior born 50 000 years ago, born weak like any other human and no power to defend what she held dear. She became a soldier of the Fire Moth, also known as The Moth Who Chases The Flame, at the age of 16. She was still too weak to protect anyone, until the day she became a mantis on a suicidal mission. But even with the many victories her new powers brought her, she as well as the other MANTIS were unable to prevail in the final battle against the final herrscher, and thus the world she knew came to an end.
From the ashes of the old world came a new one, and the survivor of the old were tasked with the rebuilding of civilization. Fu Hua was one of three MANTIS who survived the final battle, and she was tasked with helping the modern civilization rapidly advance I its technology. However, this plan proved to be a double edged sword as the Honkai would also grow at a rapid rate and thus project EMBER was deemed a failure.
Hundreds of years later, Fu Hua would remain the only MANTIS still roaming the face of the earth, With Kevin having been sealed into the Sea of Quanta by Su, and Su himself having left for his own project of overseeing worlds within the second divine key. During this time, Fu Hua had take to guarding the lands that had be created by her friends Nuwa and Fuxi, this lad would later on be known China. She was known by many names in those lands 'The Celestial Immortal', 'The Great Protector of China', 'The Empyrean Sage', and many other titles.
However, due to her immortal life Fu Hua also chose to detach herself from the world, as the passing of each of her comrades left a scar in her heart. As a result she came to only care about the destruction of the honkai and less about the lives of the people she protected. In 1458 she founded the school of Taixuan, a school of martial arts that were based around the manipulation of honkai energy. The school only had a total of seven students, however it still managed to dominate the martial arts world.
This however , is where the story branches from the tale we all know. We all know how Fu Hua a few years later fought in the battle against Schicksal (and utterly destroyed them), and was later on betrayed by her own disciples after they found out that one of their ow had been corrupted by Honkai energy. The rest of the story is history to you (I hope).
But what if , Fu Hua hadn't been betrayed her disciples, what if Fu Hua took the advice give to her by her long lost friends and truly reclaimed her life. How would these series of event affect the future that we all know of today. If her students never betrayed her then what would this mean for the School of Taixuan. With her body never have been weakened, would she still join Schicksal for the sake of protecting nation?
Come….let us follow the story of legends
Year 1470: Shenzhou, Issen Mansion
Deep within the mountain range outside the wall of Shenzhou was a large mansion, and within that mansion resided the Celestial of China and her seven disciples. Very few people usually went to said mansion, mainly because of the large number of stairs that one was required to walk before reaching the mansion. Many simply didn't have the endurance to do it. Within said mansion in the dojo of the Northern wing, five individuals were currently occupying the room, two of them engaged in a sparring session while the other three were watching the battle from the sidelines.
The first person with the field was none other than Fu Hua herself, she was dressed in a white kimono with blue linings (the one shown on the day her disciples betrayed her. Her azure blue hair was tied behind her in a ponytail fashion and her similarly colored eyes focused on the person before her.
The person standing opposite her was her fourth disciple, Wanru. Wanru was a purple haired girl with similar colored eyes. She is about nineteen years of age and had joined the school at the age of nine along with her twin sister after her master had saved them from a group of cults. Since then she had been learning the blade mantra of the edge of Taixuan and had recently mastered the third stage. She wore a sky blue kimono with black lines that formed a design around her shoulders and collar bone, the lower are also had dark blue linings that went down from the thighs to her knees that formed a flower like pattern.
The two were currently engaged in a hand to hand combat sparring session, with Fu Hua being on the defensive. Wanru dashed towards her master with her fist drawn back, she threw her fist forwards only for it to be easily redirected to her right side. She then used the momentum and twisted her body to deliver a back hand strike with her left. Only to have that blocked as well, Fu Hua took advantage of the opening and grabbed Wanru's left arm with her own before pressing it against the girls back in a firm and tight lock. The student attempted to retaliate by jabbing her right elbow into side of her master, but Fu Hua was able to block the strike with her own right palm. With swift movement, Fu Hua swept her left foot and tripped the disciple, causing Wanru to fall flat onto the ground. Before she could get back up Fu Hua pressed her knee the disciples back and held her arms behind her, successfully pinning her down.
"Your form has gotten better Wanru, but you still leave many openings." Fu Hua said as she lifted herself from the fourth disciple. As she did so she took note of something that hadn't quite been there recently, a few strands of white in the girls amethyst hair. The celestial narrowed her eyes at this as Wanru stood up.
"I'll do my best to improve master." Wanru responded respectfully with a bow, she was met with silence as her master didn't respond. When she raised her head she noticed that Fu Hua was staring at her intensely, almost as if she was studying every inch of her body, and that unnerved Wanru somewhat, but she did her best not to let it show.
"Stand still…"Fu Hua said as she walked over the disciple.
The three individuals, who had been observing the spar, became slightly concerned with the way their master was looking at their fellow disciple. The one to the left was Wanxi, the older twin of Wanru. She was the third disciple of the school of Taixuan. The two of them were identical in every sense of word, from the same purple hair, same purple eyes and same body build. If the two dressed in a similar manner, there would be almost no way of telling the apart. However, where her younger sister wore bright colors, she preferred darker colors, and thus wore a black kimono with few white and blue linings. She also had a white and sky blue sash wrapped around her waist before going down the left side of her hips.
The disciple in the middle was older than the twins by a few years, her name was Su Mei, and she was the second disciple the School f Taixuan. Mei had maroon hair that was tied up in a ponytail manner and a bit of hair on the sides of her face. She had brown luring eyes that went well with her hair, and a mature figure given her age.
And finally, to the left was the fifth disciple, Ling Shuang. She was a seventeen year old girl and one of the youngest among the seven disciples. Despite being one of the youngest, it was agreed among all disciples that she was the closest to their master when it came to skill, as she was the only one to reach the fourth stage of their training, and according to their master will have it mastered soon enough. She had white hair that was tied into a knot at the back of her head with two pins holding it in place, she also had a bit of hair coming down on both sides of her hair that reached all the way to her chest. She wore a white strapped kimono of layers with a black cloak.
The three disciples watched as Fu Hua walked over to Wanru who stood still as her master had asked. Fu Hua walked around Wanru for a few seconds, intensely observing the girl for anything unusual, specifically that white strand of hair she had seen before. A few seconds she spotted it, on the left side of her hair behind her. Fu Hua moved the strands of hair revealing the skin behind her ears, and then she saw a small glowing pink line of honkai energy.
"It's as I feared…..you've been corrupted."Fu Hua said in monotone and a blank expression that made it hard to tell what she was thinking.
Pin drop silence. That I what consumed the room after Fu Hua had finished with her statement. Wanxi literally felt her heart stop for a few seconds at the revelation. She knew what being corrupt would mean for her sister and anyone else really. It was the code of conduct that their master had instilled into all the disciples that were under her. No Mercy For The Corrupted. Those that were corrupted by Yaoqi (Honkai) were to be killed before they turned into walking corpses, this was done in order to avoid unnecessary dangers. However that in itself raised many questions?
Was their master really going to kill Wanru?
Wanxi didn't really want to believe that, but she also knew how strict she was when it came to anything Yaoqi related.
"W-what?" Wanru finally managed to get out, her breath shaky and her expression shocked.
"I noticed an unnatural strand of white in your hair, hence the reason I told you to stand still. Upon closer inspection I noted that the origin of your corruption is behind your ear. However, it seems that the effects are only recent, two or three days at most" Fu Hua explained, though she made no outward expression, she too was rather upset by the news.
Yet another person close to her was going to be lost to the honkai. She had tried to close herself from the rest of the world, and even her own disciples. But she supposed it was human nature to always bond to something or someone, as a result she had unknowingly bonded with her students. This to most would make sense considering that she was the one who raised them from a very young age.
However, she could not let personal feelings get in the way of her mission. It was her mission to eliminate the honkai, and oversee the prosperity of the modern era. That was why the main motto of the School of Taixuan was 'No mercy for the corrupted'.
That meant that Wanru, would have to die within the near future……and if she were to be honest she want sure if she would be able to follow through with it. This would be the first time that she had to kill someone close to her, despite the long life that she has lived. She has lost many to the honkai, and some were because of her own mistakes or actions, but this would be the first she would be directly responsible for the death of someone close to her.
She needed some time to think this over……
"We will address this another time……."Fu Hua said as she abruptly stood up and let the dojo without a word. She had much to think about, and she wouldn't be able to do so with her students around her. She needs space and time to be alone before she came to any decisions.
The other disciples took hat time to approach Wanru, with Wanxi running ahead of the other two towards her sister. Without a word between them Wanxi wrapped her still shocked younger twin into a hug.
"Are you okay?" She asked, a stupid question considering what they had just found out, but that was all she could think to ask. Fortunately this had been more than enough to snap Wanru out of her shock as Wanxi pulled away from the hug to look at her sister, by this time Mei and Shuang had caught up as well.
"Yes, I'm fine, just in shock I guess." Wanru responded, she was knew what this would mean for her. Her master was strict when it came to dealing with corrupted people. But the fourth disciple wanted to believe that her master wouldn't kill her, even if everything else went against that particular belief.
"But….you've been corrupted…..you know what this means." Wanxi said as tears started to gather in the corner of her eyes.
"Master may be a little distant, but I doubt that even she would kill her own students." Wanru stated her argument.
"Then you are being naïve, we've been taught that there is no cure to the corruption of honkai, and thus death was the only way to prevent it from spreading. She will most likely follow through with it, she may hesitate due to emotional attachment, but in the end she will follow through with it." Shuang explained, causing everyone to turn to her. They knew what she was saying was the truth
"As much as I hate to admit it, there's nothing that can be done for now. I'll let Zhaoyu know as soon as she comes back with Suyi and Feima." Mei suggested with a light frown on her face. She wasn't going to let her master kill Wanru while she had a say in the matter, if Zhaoyu failed to convince her then she would simply use other measures to protect the younger disciple….
Even if that meant going against the wishes of her own master
Fu Hua found herself seated in a meditative position in the yard at the back of her room. But no matter how hard the celestial tried, she could not clear her mind of today's revelation. One of her own disciples had been corrupted. She was faced with a dilemma that she wished she'd never have to face.
When she first founded the School of Taixuan, it had simply been because of the advice her Little Book had given her. She took in those children with no emotional strings attached, and though she didn't let it show, the celestial had eventually gotten attached. She had done as much as she could to raise them into the warriors they were, but she still hadn't connected with them on an individual level.
A part of her didn't regret making that choice though. Like all that had come before them, her students would pass and leave her alone. However, she also felt it was unfair to them. Despite this it was times like these where her first choice to not be attached seemed like the better option.
She was in a situation where she had to choose between duty and…….emotions. Something she thought she had long since abandoned.
Fu Hua couldn't help but sigh as she opened her eyes, it was obvious her mind would not be clear enough to meditate. She was just too bothered by all of this, she needed sometime away from the mansion to properly think this over without any bias opinions.
She was not ignorant to the discomfort the her other disciples had shown when she revealed the fact that Wanru was corrupted. The rest would probably be made aware when they arrived. They would no doubt try to make her reconsider, and she was honestly considering it, but the chances of her doing so were still low.
She still held firmly to her belief of eliminating the honkai, including those that had been corrupted by it. She did it to prevent further corruption, but also out of spite for everything that the Honkai had taken from her. That was why the highest rule of the School of Taixuan was ' No mercy for the Corrupted'. And the celestial stood firm to that belief to this day.
It wasn't like she had a choice in the matter. Those that were corrupted by Honkai could not be saved, even during her previous life, where civilisation was far more advanced, there was no cure for the honkai. The least she could do was slow it down, but that would only make it hurt more for those around Wanru, especially herself.
She had hoped that exposure to Honkai energy at an early age would allow the human body to adapt. Then again, Wanxi and Wanru had been adopted at the age of eleven, after they were almost sacrificed to the Honkai by Yan Shilou. Perhaps they simply weren't young enough.
Su Mei had been brought in to the school at the age of eight. Ling Shuang was the youngest to start her training and started her training at the age of four. Ma Feima started his training at the age of twenty. Qin Suyi had started her training when she was eight as well. And her first disciple Lin Zhaoyu had travelled with Fu Hua from the age of six, but officially began her training at the age of eighteen.
Many factors could be taken into consideration, but Fu Hua felt that age was one of the main reasons Wanru's body had fallen to the honkai.
The Immortal celestial was disturbed from her thoughts when she heard footsteps coming from behind her. She did not bother to look back, already knowing who was behind here, and instead opted to look into the pond where a pair of Koi fish were swimming around each other.
"Zhaoyu, I take it you and the others had no trouble in you patrol?" Fu Hua questioned. Much like she did, back when she guarded Shenzhou on her own from honkai beasts, Fu Hua would sometimes have the disciples do that in her stead.
"It was nothing we couldn't handle." The soft voice of her disciple responded. Fu Hua turned to face her first disciple for a moment.
Lin Zhaoyu was a woman in her mid twenties with long black hair that went down to her waist line, her eyes yellow in color. She wore a ribbon of her hair, a white changpao with dark blue sleeves, a black belt and black boots.
"That's good….." Fu Hua said with a nod. She could see the disciples unease as she stood in front of her, it was obvious to the celestial that she had been made aware of Wanru's condition. Most of her students looked up to Zhaoyu, so it didn't surprise Fu Hua that the disciple was the one here to speak with her, "I take it you've been made aware of Wanru's condition." Fu Hua decided to start, she noticed her disciple flinch at the subject but otherwise remained calm.
"Yes, and I'm worried about what this would mean for her. The others are also worried." Zhaoyu stated, Fu Hua could tell there was more to what she wanted to say but was restraining herself from doing so.
"You know what this means Zhaoyu. All of you do." Fu Hua stated as she narrowed her eyes on the disciple. She wanted to see where disciple stood on the matter. Zhaoyu had always been a kind hearted girl, especially when it came to the other disciples, it was why most of them looked to her as a big sister figure within the school.
"Master…..surely you wouldn't……she's one of us." Zhaoyu tried to argue as her eyes widened at her masters cold response.
"There is no cure to the honkai corruption, she'll eventually turn, and as a result of her training she will be more dangerous than the average undead." Fu Hua responded as she then turned back to the lake and took a moment to look at her own reflection in the water, "To be honest, I am still conflicted on the matter. It's a choice between duty and personal feelings. I don't want to kill Wanru, but the threat she presents if she turns is too large to ignore. I need more time to think on the matter." Fu Hua explained to her disciple.
"How long does Wanru have?" Zhaoyu asked, her master had always been able to detect how long one had to live until they fell to their corruption, and thus far she had yet to be proven wrong.
"The infection was only recent, so I would estimate two years, maybe less. It all depends on how much energy she exposes " Fu Hua replied as she rubbed her chin, it was then that a thought suddenly occurred to her, "Zhaoyu, it's around that time of the year is it not." The celestial spoke, immediately the first disciple knew what her master was talking about.
The days of the attack at the South Sea were approaching soon. Meaning her parents and her masters friends day of death was also approaching. It was two weeks from now if she remembered correctly.
"Yes, two weeks from now if I remember correctly." Zhaoyu explained, she wondered where her master was going with this.
"Good, you and I will be leaving for the South Sea tomorrow, we'll be paying our respects to our loved ones." Fu Hua said as her disciples eyes rose slightly in surprise, "I will also take this time to think things over in regards to Wanru." The celestial also added.
"I'll go ahead and make the preparations." Zhaoyu said as sh nodded her head.
"Pack lightly, only the essentials." Fu Hua added, to which Zhaoyu nodded before leaving the garden.
Fu Hua hoped that visiting the graves of her friends would help her come to a solution of sorts. She knew what she had to do, but she honestly didn't think she would be able to follow through with it, and if she did she may only turn out worse than she currently was.
Authors note:
And that's it for the first chapter folks. To be honest I haven't really thought this story through that much considering the fact that I am more invested in my 'Honkai Impact: Kaslana's Oath' fanfic.
But Fu Hua is my second favourite after Kiana and I just couldn't help but wonder what life for her would have been like if her students didn't kill her, and the school of Taixuan was given the opportunity to grow.
So any ideas to add into the plot are welcome, feel free to PM or comment your suggestions. And if I like it I will add it
