There was an abundance of words he wanted to say to her, an abundance of words that could explain how he felt. He could tell her how his heart pounded when she was in danger. He could tell her how he felt his heart plummet when she'd jump off a cliff, dive into creature infested waters, when she'd be so close to a dragon her reflection was visible in its eyes. She was daring, she was strong, she was every word he'd never use to describe himself.

He could tell her how she felt in his arms, completely perfect, like she belonged there, like she was a part of him. He could tell her how soft her lips were, how he adored the smell of the sun blocking lip gloss she wore. She always laughed about how she wanted to see the famed ruby jeweled lobsters, not be one. He wanted to see her decked out in rubies like the lobsters she was so eager to see.

He could tell her that he loved her, but even though there were an abundance of words that meant love, that meant he wanted to spend his every minute, every day, with her, he could never find the right ones. They didn't seem to exist because every word dulled in comparison to her radiance, to the light she shone on everything and everyone. It was a light Severus had never dreamed of being part of of, a light that brought him from the shadows, that made him part of the world again.

No, there were no words, they weren't needed as he drew the velvet box from his pocket, falling on bended knee before her. There were no words as he opened it, the gold and ruby ring shining in early morning sunlight. There were an abundance of words that she could have said, but none left her lips as she pushed them passionately against his, agreeing to be his forever, to love and to cherish, until death did they part.
