Chapter 6

Ally vs Foe

"Alright, here's the situation." The man that seemed to believe he was more important that what he was said. "You've all had direct contact with the NBEs."

"NBEs?" Epps asked as they walked further into the Dam. Anna's necklace was vibrating so much and getting so much warmer that she was afraid that she would actually get burned if it got any hotter.

"Non-Biological Extraterrestrials. Try and keep up with the acronyms. What you're about to see is totally classified."

Anna had dropped back as they walked to join her fellow soldiers. Lennox without thinking threw an arm around her shoulders and smiled softly at her. Something inside of her loosened. She knew that she had some explaining to do after all of this but she knew that her team, her brothers, weren't mad at her for keeping some things secret.

They entered a large room Anna gasping and reaching out to steady herself by gripping Lennox's shirt and Epps' arm.

This Decepticon was larger and just emanated more danger than the one in Qatar had. This was Megatron.

"Dear God. What is this?" Keller had heard the reports and Anna's verbal report, but it was different seeing it with his own two eyes.

"We think when he made his approach over the North Pole, our gravitational field screwed up his telemetry. He crashed in the ice, probably a few thousand years ago. We shipped him here to this facility in 1934." The head agent - Tom Banacheck, the only one that actually introduced him self - said.

"We call him NBE One."

The male teenage civilian spoke up. Anna could tell he and the female teen probably knew more than every other human in the room. "Well, sir, I don't mean to correct you on everything you think you know, but, I mean, that's Megatron." He paused and met the annoying agent's eyes squarely. "He's the leader of the Decepticons."

"He's been in cryostats since 1935. Your great-great-grandfather made one of the greatest discoveries in the history of mankind." Banachek said.

Anna piped up as she had been into explorers when she was younger and remembered reading about him.

"Oh, you're a descendant of Captain Witwicky?" The boy nodded astonished that someone outside of his family knew that. "Wasn't he branded as insane though? I'm assuming the government did that so the civilians wouldn't give one lick of attention to the captain's mutters. Am I right?"

"Young lady, I don't know how you figured out who we were talking about." Banachek said sidetracked. She shrugged.

"I was very into explorers when I was younger… if we could get back to the matter at hand?"

"Oh, right. Fact is you're looking at the source of the modern age: the microchip, lasers, spaceflight, cars, which were all reverse engineered by studying him. NBE One. That's what we call it." The annoying agent snapped.

Anna rolled her eyes. How this man got to be this 'high' up in the S-7 agency with that attitude, Anna had no idea.

"And you didn't think the United States military might need to know that you're keeping a hostile alien robot frozen in the basement?" Keller practically spat the question at the two agents causing them to shift uncomfortably.

"Until these events, we had no credible threat to national security." The head agent said.

Keller practically rolled his eyes as he replied sarcastically, "Well you got one now."

The blonde haired female woman spoke up next. "So why Earth?"

The Witwicky boy piped up. "It's the Allspark."

Yep, Anna was right. He knew way more then anyone else about what was going on.

"Allspark? What is that?" Keller asked.

"Well, they came here looking for some sort of cube looking thing. Anyway, Mister NBE-One here, a.k.a. Megatron, that's what they call him, who's pretty much the harbinger of death, wants to use the Cube to transform human technology to take over the universe. That's their plan."

The two agents exchanged looks. "And you're sure about that?"

Anna piped up. "My god, of course he's sure… and by the stupid looks on your faces, you know where it is, don't you?"

Lennox elbowed her in the side to get her to stop talking but she couldn't help it. She saw the two teens hide grins at her words and knew her team were hiding their own.

"Follow me," Banachek said not even acknowledging her insult.

Anna dropped back to the two teens. She shook their hands. "I'm Anna."

"Sam."

"Mikaela."

"So what'd they get you for?"

Sam shrugged. "Bought a car, turned out to be an alien robot."

Anna moved back to rejoin her team and fell into silence with them.

"You're about to see our crown jewel." They were ushered into a little observation room.

Outside of the room you overlooked a massive one where a huge cube was displayed.

"Whoa," whispered Sam, echoing what they all had been thinking.

"Carbon dating puts the Cube here around ten thousand B.C. The first Seven didn't find it until 1913. They knew it was alien because of the matching hieroglyphics on the Cube as well as NBE-One."

"They must not have been too smart. Anyone can tell that it's alien." Anna muttered with a roll of her eyes and another elbow in her side.

The agent continued having not had heard her snide remark. "President Hoover had the dam built around it. Four football fields thick of concrete. A perfect way to hide its energy from being detected by anyone or any alien species on the outside."

"Wait. You-you said the dam hides the Cube's energy. What kind exactly?"

Banachek led them into an adjoining room. "Good question. Please step inside. They have to lock us in."

The male civilian spoke for the first time as he examined the torn up walls. "Oh, wow."

"Anybody have any mechanical devices? Blackberry? Key alarm? Cell phone?" The agent asked.

"I got a phone." The mail civilian said tossing his phone over to the agent.

The agent flipped it open smirking. "Ooh. Nokias are real nasty. You've got to respect the Japanese. They knew the way of the Samurai." He placed the pone inside a glass box and snapped the box shut.

Everyone put on the goggles they had been handed waiting to see what would happen.

"Nokia's from Finland, idiot."

"Yes, but he's, you know… a little strange." John said to his goddaughter softly. Anna smiled at him.

The agent flipped some switches. "We're able to take the Cube radiation and funnel it into that box."

Everyone let out startled sounds as the Nokia shuddered and abruptly transformed into a tiny Cybertronian and immediately began chattering and running around the box.

The agent grinned, amused and pleased with their responses. "Mean little sucker, huh?'

"That thing is freaky," the blonde agreed.

She felt a strange feeling in her gut as she watched the blue eyed little guy let everything he had at the box, trying to break free. It wasn't until its eyes meet her own that for some reason it began to calm down. The agents didn't see that though.

"Oh, it's breaking the box."

Anna knew what they were about to do so she drew her gun and aimed it squarely at the both of them.

Everyone in the room froze.

"If you press that button, do note that neither one of you will be leaving this room alive. I don't know about S7 agents, but I took an oath to protect. And protecting to me means protecting all innocents from people like you. I'm sure you've done something like this hundreds of times and then once they got too aggressive, you killed them. Fortunately, this will be the last one that you will ever be allowed to bring to life and the only one that you won't be killing. Now step away from the switch and go over and stand by Ruins and Graham for me." Anna knew that everyone was giving her strange looks. "The little guy is a baby, has just woken up for the first time to the sight of several unknowns gawking at him while he is inside of a glass box that he can't get out of. There will not be a murder of a baby, regardless of whether they are alien robots or humans in my presence."

Finally the two agents were over by her fellow soldiers and she wasted no time in opening the box and sticking her hand in for the little Nokia bot to climb onto.

"Don't worry, little one, I'll get you out of here and someplace safe." She crooned softly. The little one met her brown eyes with his blue ones for a hot minute before it squeaked softly and clambered into her hand and allowed her to withdraw it from the box. Anna placed him on her shoulder where it proceeded to hide itself in her hair, especially when she took it out of the bun and let it cascade down her back and around her shoulders.

No one was able to protest this whole thing as suddenly the lights flickered and a distant boom was heard, causing the walls to shake.

"Gentlemen, they know the Cube is here." Keller said seriously.

"Do you have an arms room?" Their captain asked urgently.

They did.

As they were loading up weapons and arming up, Anna saw out of the corner of her eye as Sam walked up to the more annoying agent. "You have to take me to my car. He's gonna know what to do with the cube!"

"His car?" Anna murmured from where she was loading a gun.

Mikaela looked at her. "His car is a good guy. An Autobot."

Mikaela didn't think that it would do anything but she saw almost understanding come onto the female soldier's face. Weird, she thought to herself.

Anna was almost beating herself up in her head. She had heard about the car turned robot before and how he had protected Sam and Mikaela but had failed to make the connection or the possibility that the car was in fact an Autobot.

She wasn't the only one that was surprised when Anna sprung into action, grabbed the agent, pinning him against the car parked there. "Take Sam to his car!"

"Wha-" cried out the agent.

Then came a cowboy stand off with S-7 agents pointing guns at the soldiers and the soldiers pointing their guns at the agents, no one pointed a gun at their medic unless they wanted to die.

Anna knew that her team had her back so didn't even turn her head when an agent pointed a rifle in her direction. She pressed her gun into the agent's chest. She was not playing around.

"Drop it." Lennox said sternly.

"Drop your weapon, soldier. There's an alien war going on and you're gonna shoot me?" The agent that was being held 'hostage' said trying to get the situation under control.

Anna glared down at him. "You know, we didn't ask to be here."

The agent glared back. "I'm ordering you under S7 executive jurisdiction-"

Epps snorted. "S7 don't exist."

Anna shot him a grin over her shoulder. "Right and we don't take orders from people that don't exist, Agent."

"I'm gonna count to five."

"Well, I'm gonna count to three." She cocked her gun and raised an eyebrow. Anna didn't play these games. If she said she was gonna shoot you, she would just shoot you. No need to dance around it.

Silence between them all as the soldiers and agents waited to see what would happen next.

"Simmons?" Keller asked. Anna groaned inside her head at finally having a name for this soon to be dead agent.

"Sir?"

"I'd do what she says. Losing's really not an option for these guys. Anna is incredibly stubborn and if the only way for her to back down is to release the car, then do it. She's probably already ran through every bad scenario that could happen by doing so."

Anna hadn't actually but she wasn't going to tell John that. She knew Autobots fought on the side of good and life. Sam's car is an Autobot ergo an ally that could possibly make sure that they possibly survive the coming battle.

Anna's eyes had remained steadily locked onto Simmons' waiting for him to come to a decision.

"Hurry up, you've got all the rest of your life to make a decision." She said impatiently.

Simmons finally felt a fracture of fear shoot through him. This soldier was not playing around.

"Alright. Okay. Hey, you want to lay the fate of the world on the kid's Camaro? That's cool." Anna released the agent and followed him to where they were keeping the Autobot. They must hurry. They didn't have much time left.
