Etude Op. 25, No. 7 in c-sharp minor ("Cello")
Shuhei loved the heartbreaking Mozart's Requiem played at Chopin's mass each year, but even more than the soul-piercing music, he loved the quiet that followed.
"Hey, Chopin," Kai murmured, kneeling before the memorial. "We've come a long way since the Minute Waltz, you and me. I hope I'm making you proud."
It was a moment Shuhei knew well: of reaching through years and centuries to uncover the composer's intent—their heart—and rousing it to life. But Chopin was not a conversation he could hope to have alone.
The wind sighed around the three of them, Shuhei, Kai, and Chopin's heart encased in the pillar, quiet, intimate, almost an answer. Kai's fingers slipped into his palm.
"You are," Shuhei promised.

Author's notes: Every year, there's a funeral mass held on the date of Chopin's death. It's held at the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw, and they perform Mozart's Requiem. I listened to this etude so many times. I even learned it and played it, and no matter what it sounds like mourning to me, so!
In the anime, there's a scene after where Kai and Shuu are just wandering around the city at night and the pay their respects at Chopin's memorial and. ASDJHSAG is there anything so intimate as wandering a city at night, just the two of you?
