Hello everyone again. It's me. I'm back. Sorry for being gone for a long time since my last chapter release, but I'm back and ready to continue more until I face the problem again. Anyways enough about me. I hope all of you are doing well yourself and thanks for being patient. With that said, enjoy.
Chapter 66: Having Fun?
[Be Free by Papa Roach]
Beat by beat. Enjoying the sweet freedom of being able to walk again. To dance again. After having a successful day and having time off. The Literature Club Poetry Performance came to an end as the club celebrate by having fun together. To celebrate this perfect day, Sayori found herself playing music off her phone. While the other girls try to have fun they find it more difficult to ignore the show that's being displayed right in front of them as Michael dances to his heart's content.
Keeping in beat. Moving from side to side with twirls in between. Tapping his feet before moving his body in such a way the girls wonder how the hell he's able to pull it off. The girls know he took dance class before meeting them, but to see him move is a completely different story. To see him shake his body so fluently in rhythm, to see him having fun. He still got it despite being in crutches for two months.
Singing along with the song. Michael still keeps his rhythm going, soon enough Sayori decided to join in on the fun. Though not nearly as good as her friend, she tried her best to keep up with him with a few mistakes, but still had fun none the less. As they dance to the music, Yuri, Monika, and Natsuki remained seated enjoying their food that they got from the stalls outside and enjoying the free show.
Michael: "You could at least give us some as compensation?" He spins.
Monika: "You're welcome to get some if you want. We got plenty for all of us."
Sayori: "Save us some!" She shakes her hips.
Natsuki: "Then you better finish before it's all gone and after you decide to stop dancing. I don't want any of you throwing up on us."
Sayori: "Booooo!" The two kept dancing. "Aw man this is tiring." She takes a seat next to Natsuki while Michael continues.
Natsuki: "Look at him go."
Yuri: "Indeed, but look how happy he is."
Natsuki: "Guess so."
Michael: (The rhythm, the beats of my heart and song. The rush feels so good. I can't contain it. I wish Evan and Jason were here. That would make things really nostalgic.) He keeps in rhythm as he moves his legs. (Don't worry about me. I'm doing fine with them.)
Yuri: (He looks so happy. I'm glad he found his inner peace.) She smiles to herself.
Sayori: "He's so good at this. I'm still out of breath."
Monika: "Well he has been doing this for a long time. It makes sense he last this long."
Sayori: "Yeah, you're right. Just wish I could keep up with his amount of energy."
Monika: "Well either way. I'm glad we all had a successful day. To the Literature Club." She raises her drink.
Everyone Else: "To the Literature Club!" All shout together.
Monika: "Now let's party until it's time to close up!"
Everyone Else: "Yeah!"
[Song Ends]
As they continue to party as a club. The New Year's Festival comes to an end as all students clean up. With everyone gone home to relax after a long fun day, just arriving home alone. Monika enters her front gate. She chose to walk alone as she wanted time to think about what had happen today and to enjoy the stars shining ever so brightly in the night sky. With her going alone, both Michael and Sayori left home together on foot as well with Natsuki and Yuri going by car as Natsuki called her dad and offered to drop Yuri off on the way.
Arriving to her front door, Monika notices the house lights are off signaling that her parents aren't home. Feeling a bit upset, but sadly gotten used to it. She unlocks her front door and enters her dark house, lighting the place up with bright warm light. After returning to her room to drop her belongings. She headed back downstairs to get something to drink. While she drinks her glass of water she looked around her big kitchen.
Monika: "…" The doorbell rings. "Huh? Who could that be in this hour?" She heads to the front door to see who the sudden visitor is. "Yes, how can I help you? Zack?"
Zackary: "Hey Moni, how's it going?"
Monika: "I'm doing great, but what are doing here?"
Zackary: "Just thought I see you one last time before I leave."
Monika: "Oh … right …"
Zackary: "Yeah, I'm leaving at seven in the morning tomorrow and I won't have the time to see you in the morning."
Monika: "It's okay, I'm just glad to see you one last time before you head out."
Zackary: "Don't worry about it."
Monika: "What?"
Zackary: "I know you have a lot going for you, but I know you'll be fine. After I saw it with my very own eyes."
Monika: "…" Still confused to what he meant.
Zackary: "Well this is goodbye. I hope you do well after I'm gone."
Monika: "Maybe … I hope you do well overseas."
Zackary: "I will, thanks."
He walks to the front gate to a black car parked outside. Before entering the car he waved to her one last time. It was then Monika saw the driver, a women who had emerald green eyes, the same as her and her mother's with light brown hair. Just as Zackary enters the car, the woman looked over to her and smiled a bit before leaving.
Monika: (It's been awhile aunty. We haven't seen each other in years. How long has it been since we last talked? Goodbye you two. Now I'm truly alone.) She enters back into her house. Deeply saddened by the loss and to what's to come next week.
The next day after the School Festival has ended. Eating breakfast alone as both her parents had already left. The only sound in the kitchen is her chewing on her cereal of choice. With not much to do and not having any plans today. She just decided to spend her time watching T.V until the day is over, only to repeat it again tomorrow before school starts. That is until someone rang her doorbell.
Monika: "Wonder who that could be today?" She looks at her phone for time, 10:37 a.m. "Did my parents perhaps ordered something online?" She answers the door. "Yes, how can I help you?" *Gasp!* Surprised to see who it was, her heart skips beats.
Michael: "Hey how's it going?"
Monika: "Michael!" She closes the door.
Michael: "… Well that was rude." The door opens again. This time Monika had her hair brushed a bit and tied in a pony tail.
Monika: "Sorry, I was just a bit surprised by your sudden visit. Next time call before just showing up. A girl like me needs time to prepare."
Michael: "Ah sorry about that. I thought that I would surprise you by coming over. I didn't mean to scare you."
Monika: "That's very thoughtful of you, but what if I wasn't home or if my parents are home?"
Michael: "Well if you weren't home, then it's no big deal. I just got my exercise for the day as for your parents, then it would be nice to see them."
Monika: "Yeah, but …"
Michael: "I've faced off against my dad and Natsuki's. I'm not all that scared to face a parent. Plus I really wanted to see you and they aren't enough to stop me."
Monika: "You wanted to see me?"
Michael: "Do you have plans today?"
Monika: "No I don't, why?"
Michael: "Great, then would you like to go to town with me?"
Monika: "What?" Her face turns pink.
Michael: "Do you want to go to town with me?"
Monika: "I heard you, but … this is so sudden. I don't know what to say."
Michael: "Please?" She looks to him at his gold eyes. "There's a lot that I want to do since I'm able to walk normal again and I want you to join me."
Monika: "Well if that what you want then I don't mind, but I'm going to need time to get ready."
Michael: "That's fine by me. I'll wait here."
Monika: "Just come inside. You can wait on the couch if you want."
Michael: "Alright, thanks for having me." He enters and looks around the place again. "Still big as ever."
Monika: "Yeah, well it can get quite empty sometimes. Just wait here, I'll be down soon. No peaking or I'll poke your eyes out."
Michael: "Well you don't have to be that harsh. I'll have you know that I'm a gentleman." He bows before sitting while Monika giggles at his remark.
Monika: "Very funny. I'll be back soon." She heads upstairs and readies herself. (Seriously, what!? How, when, why! What on earth is he thinking!? Well whatever the case it may be, it's better than being here all day. I'll take what I can get. Besides, it's Michael after all. How can I say no to him?) She heads downstairs. "Okay I'm all set. Did I make you wait too long?"
Michael: "No, you were only gone for a couple of minutes." He puts down his phone and sees what she's wearing. A green tank top with a pink shoulder less sweater, black leggings with a pair of pink shoes along with her usual white bow.
Monika: "Really?" Her cheeks turn to a light shade of red. "Do you think I dressed a little too much?"
Michael: "No you look great. Maybe I should've dressed better?" Monika looks to see what he had on. Just a pair of dark blue jeans, a black V-neck and jacket with a normal pair of black and white shoes.
Monika: "Hm, maybe a little. You should get more variety of clothes."
Michael: "How mean. I'll have you know that I look good in this." He says as he heads to the door. "Ready?"
Monika: "Yeah" The two leave to the bus station. On the way to town. The two haven't said a word to each other when they got on. (What was I thinking!? The way things are going it looks like we're going on a date? No that can't be the case. I'm sure there's more to it than this, but what?" Soon enough their stop has arrived. The two got off the bus and looked around their surroundings. "Wow" She looks to Michael. "Hey, so what is it you want to do?"
Michael: "Hm?"
Monika: "You brought me here for a reason, so what is it you wanted to do?" He smiles.
Michael: "I have no clue."
Monika: "What!?"
Michael: "Just as I said. I have no clue what we're going to do?"
Monika: "But then?"
Michael: "Recall the last few times we've been here."
Monika: "Recall?"
Michael: "Yeah, you know. Every time we come here we just do whatever came to mind. We winged it."
Monika: "Well I suppose that's true, but …"
Michael: "We're still humans. We do whatever we want, not what others want. We choose our own path." Monika gasps at what he said. "For now let's forget all our troubles and have some fun. Do whatever we want to make ourselves happy.
Monika: "I suppose so, but what should we do?"
Michael: "Then how about we start off there again?" He grabs her hand.
Monika: "Wait Michael!"
Michael: "Don't worry about it. Come on we ain't got all day, so let's have as much fun as we can. Trust me." He smiles and leads her to the Arcade.
[Your Reality by Cristina Vee Cover]
Monika: "Okay"
She smiles back as the two of them share a laugh. Entering the arcade, the lights of the games gives off. First person shooters, arcade games, and crane games with Michael winning a fox plushy for her with his skills. The fun the two had as they leave to the next area. Walking all around the plaza as they window shop. Monika seeing cute clothes as Michael sees the poster of the comic book store.
When they both enter the comic store both him and Monika saw a copy of Parfait Girls. Soon enough they saw that the store had packs of Duel Monster cards and decided to buy a pack with the two of them getting ok cards. With nothing else to do they both decide to go get something to drink and chat. After getting their drinks they continue walking down the streets. With the sky still blue they decided to relax on a nearby bench before getting a move on to the next location.
With the sun slowly going down. The two decided to get dinner at nearby fast food place and talked some more about their hobbies. At one moment the two almost accidently drank from each other's drinks before giving it back to their original owners. With the sun finally set and the moon is out in the open. The stars bright ever so lightly.
Monika: "Ha, that was a ton of fun. I don't think I ever had that much fun in my life."
Michael: "Oh come on. You don't have to be that nice about it."
Monika: "I'm serious! This has been one of the best nights I've had in years. Thank you for asking out." She starts rubbing her arms and takes a step closer to him.
Michael: "Something wrong?"
Monika: "Just a bit cold is all. I'm fine though." Her face turns redder as she felt his jacket on her. "Michael!?"
Michael: "You can use this if you want to."
[Song Ends]
Monika: "But!"
Michael: "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me."
Monika: "Well, okay. It's gotten pretty dark outside."
Michael: "Yeah and quieter too."
Monika: "What do you feel like doing now?" She walks up ahead further as Michael stops in place. "Michael? What's wrong?"
Michael: "Check it out. The signs says if you're eighteen you can enter this place."
Monika: "Yeah, but what is it?"
They start hearing music playing inside.
Michael: "Looks like some kinda club. Minus the alcohol."
Monika: "Huh? Wonder why none of at all. Not that we should be drinking or anything? Right Michael?"
Michael: "Uh yeah …" (She must never know that I used to drink before and when I joined the club.) "Want to go check it out?"
Monika: "Well I suppose so, but I'm not all that good at dancing as you."
Michael: "It's fine as long as we have fun. Come on." He opens the door for her.
Monika: "Yeah, okay good sir." She enters with a smirk on her face as he follows her with the music getting louder. The lights flashing in midnight blue with a couple of other colors flashing in between the blue with a fair amount of people dancing to the music. "Woah" She looks all around her surroundings as the people dance in unison. She looked to her right to see what looks like a bar, but since this club doesn't have any alcoholic beverages it had soda, juices and water instead.
Michael: "This place looks nice. Never knew this town had a place like this?"
Monika: "I know. I've been in this town for years, but never had I once seen this one. I've seen some clubs when I pass by, but to be in one. It's a whole different story."
Michael: (Her eyes … they look like gems in here. I never noticed how beautiful her eyes can be.)
Monika: "Is something wrong?"
Michael: "No nothing. Just thought how shiny your eyes are in here. They stick out."
Monika: "R-really?" She turns away to the left to see tables set out for people who want to relax and drink. "Oh look they have tables to sit when you don't want to dance anymore." Pointing to distract him.
Michael: "Yeah they sure do? Hey are you trying to distract me?"
Monika: "N-no?" He stares at her. "…"
Michael: "Hey … do you want to … dance?"
Monika: "Uh?"
Michael: "Come on let's dance. It could be fun?" She looks into his gold eyes as they too stick out in the area.
Monika: "Well I don't know? I'm not all that good compared to you."
Michael: "Ah who cares. Let's just have fun together. Come on." He takes her hand while the music changes and the crowd gets ready for the next music to play.
Monika: "W-wait!"
Michael: "Just follow my lead. I know you can do it after all you almost won that one game we played before."
Monika: "Game?"
[Scream by Usher]
She remembers back when her and the girls tried to cheer him up, to motivate him to face his demons. The game she almost won, but Michael manages to beat her despite almost falling off. The one time people were actually cheering him on. When she remembered that she smiled.
"Okay I'm game, but I'm planning to out do you this time."
Michael: "Ha, ha! That's the spirit. Show me what you got!"
Both Michael and Monika take their spots as she gives back his jacket. When the music started to playing the crowd got ready to go along with the beat. As the song got higher and the vocals started to play. The crowd began to dance in slow paste. Keeping in rhythm, not wanting to be left behind by him. Monika paid close attention to him. When the music finally hit, it hit hard and so did everyone else. When the music kicked off Monika tried her best to keep up with Michael from his movements to his stances.
Michael: "Come on! You don't have to copy me! Show me what You got!" He spins back into place and continues his moves as he shakes his hips and twists his ankles to certain angles.
Monika: (Okay, you ask for it.)
She starts doing her own moves as she moves around her legs and arms. Moving her hips and sides the same way Michael would do. Soon enough the two of them were on a heated battle once again as they try to out due each other. Ignoring everyone around them, but gaining an audience.
DJ: "Yeah that's what I'm talking about!" He turns up the music louder and flash the lights in the middle for all to see the main show.
Dancer: "Woah look at them go."
Dancer 2: "Damn they look cool." Everyone starts to cheer.
Dancer 3: "Looking good you two!" The rest cheers as the two go at it.
Monika: "Looks like we got an audience?"
Michael: "Yeah, but we're having fun. Ignore them and keep your focus on me." He takes off his jacket and throws it to the side where no one could run into it.
Monika: "You like to show off don't you?"
Michael: "Only a little." The two smile to each other. (She should've seen me in action with the team. Me and the others would rock the house down.) He does his usual move. (This song used to play a lot during class. I always used this song to get me warmed up. Other times I would use it as a finisher.) The two continues to dance.
DJ: "Hey all keep in rhythm and join them! It's a show we all can take part of so let's rock the place!" He says through the intercom. With his announcement the crowd cheered in unison and began dancing around them as Michael and Monika continue to out dance each other.
As the music came closer to its end, to end it off as he always does. He does his own spin before rushing to Monika. Taking her by the hip in one hand and the other on her hand. He spun her and himself together to finish as one. Placing both his hands around her waist.
Michael: "Follow my lead." Doing what he asked, she follows his footsteps and movements in unison while he sings along. The two dancing as one as the crowd cheers at them finishing it off with a pose.
[Song Ends]
"Had fun?" He breathes heavily.
Monika: "Yeah I have. I still won though."
Michael: "Maybe in another story." The two walk off the dance floor. "Want anything to drink?"
Monika: "If you're offering then I could go for some water."
Michael: "Alright. Excuse me can we get two cups of water?" The worker nods and gives them both two bottles of water. "Close enough." The two drink before leaving the club.
Monika: "… So where to now?"
Michael: "Do you want to go see the ocean? There's a pier nearby."
Monika: "Well sure that's sounds lovely." He nods to her and the two head off. By the time they got there they saw no one was else was around and found a bench to sit on. "Wow the stars are beautiful today." She says as she takes her seat.
Michael: "Yeah, they are." (This location …) He looks to where they came from and saw an old abandoned building. When he saw the empty building he touched his fists as he remembers his old past. Feeling some nostalgia as he closes his eyes. (I can still feel it on my fists.)
Monika: "Are you okay?"
Michael: "Yeah" He looks away from the past and faced who he was with now. "Did you have fun today?" He finally takes his seat next to her.
Monika: "I did … it's just …" He nervously waits for her to finish. "Michael … why did you want to bring me here?"
Michael: "… Do I need a reason?"
Monika: "It's just … it's just after that night. I thought that you never wanted to be around me anymore. I did such inappropriate things and said so much horrible things to you. I grew to hate myself when I realized what I did."
Michael: "I'm not my father."
Monika: "!" Her eyes widen.
Michael: "I could never hate you. I could never hate any of you. It's true that you came at me very strongly, but seeing you in that weakened state. Not thinking clearly, tears building up in your eyes, a mask you hide behind. I could never do that to you. I could never take advantage of you. No matter what you say."
Monika: "I see … So you know what I've been going through?"
Michael: "Only a bit. Most men would take you up on your offer, but not me. I don't want to make you regret it later and question your worth. That's why I rejected your proposal."
Monika: "You're very kind, but it's the truth. I do love you more than anything." She lays her head on his shoulder.
Michael: "Monika?"
Monika: "I'm sorry for everything. I never meant to worry or hurt you. It's just …"
Michael: "I know."
Monika: "Huh?"
Michael: "Don't worry about it. To be honest with you, I haven't been acting like myself either."
Monika: "What do you mean?"
Michael: "Remember those nightmares I've been having?"
Monika: "Uh yeah … do you still …"
Michael: "Not anymore. Those nightmares don't bother me anymore, but there has been something that's been bugging me for quite a while?"
Monika: "And that is?"
Michael: "What was the club like before I joined?"
Monika: "Oh?"
Michael: "I keep forgetting to ask, but how did you start the club? How did you get the others to join?"
Monika: "Well … It's a long story. I don't want to waste your time with that."
Michael: "I got time."
Monika: "Well if that's what you want then okay. I'm going to warn you, it's a long story."
Michael: "Then lay it on me."
Monika: "Well before we start, I should start when me and Sayori met. When we had history class together last year. That is when we first became friends.
*Flash Back*
Monika: "Allow me introduce myself. My names Monika, it's a pleasure to meet you all." She says to her classmates for the next year.
Sayori: "I'm Sayori and I hope we can all get along." She says cheerfully to her classmates.
"We first met in history class last year. Back when I just met you, when I was still part of the Debate Club, back when me and Todd were still dating. It was that time when we became friends. Me and her."
Sayori: "Hello my name's Sayori. Looks like we're be sitting next to each other for a whole year." She smiles brightly.
Monika: "It's nice to meet you. My names Monika. Let's have ourselves a great year."
Sayori: "Yeah!" They both shake hands.
Monika: "This is how our club first started. How it was before you showed up."
End of Chapter 66
