Chapter 6. Unexpected Surprise.

As morning dawned in Deerfield Illinois Lincoln and Kate Louder were waking up. It was Friday Morning and the two were looking forward to spending the weekend with their three sons. As the two went down stairs to get breakfast ready Kate opened up the morning newspaper and began to read it.

As she was reading it something caught her eye. "Hey Lincoln!" She called out to her husband.

Lincoln ran in and to see what his wife had to share with him.

"There is a two story twelve bedroom three bathrooms mansion for sale. It just on the other side of this town." Kate said

"Kate, that's kind of a big place and a big price. Our family only consists of you me and our three sons. Our house is big enough as it is." Lincoln explained

Currently Lincoln and his family of five lived in a three bedroom ranch house. Michael and Jeffrey shared a bedroom just across from their parent's room.

Lincoln walked over to his wife to look at the paper.

"Not to mention the YAAAA!" Lincoln started as he took one good look at the price of the mansion. "My yearly income doesn't even come close to covering half the cost of that thing." Lincoln stated

"Well I figured I could get a job of my own. You know ern extra money." Kate said

"No Kate! We are perfectly fine with the house we live in and the family we have. Besides we already have three sons it's not like our family is going to get any bigger. Even if it does there are plenty of houses on the market that are way cheaper than that." Lincoln stated.

Kate had a feeling as to why her husband acted out of character over the mansion. Well out of normal character. She feels it has to do with his past family and his past life before he was adopted. Kate knew her husband had a lot on his shoulders. She knew he had a problem he did not want to confess and wanted to help him with his problem.

"You know Lincoln We may have more children down the line." Kate said.

"I'm alright with that." Lincoln stated.

"So what if we have more kids but not enough rooms for them. Would you like to move to bigger house?" Kate asked her husband.

"Just so long as it's not a ridiculously large mansion that is too much room. I mean we can move into a two story five bedroom one bathroom…" Lincoln started to say but then he strayed off. His mind went all the way back to his childhood home. Before the 'Bad Luck' incident. How he lived on the second floor of the two story house with his ten sisters. How noisy they were, the five bedroom on the top floor and two sisters to a bedroom, how Lincoln's room was the linen closet.

Lincoln lost himself in his thoughts of those times before he was kicked out by them, before he had to endure that squirrel suit, and before the trial that set the fate of both his parents and sisters. Even though at the time he would not want to admit it, But there was a part of himself who missed them.

Kate could tell that something was on her husband Mind, but she couldn't exactly say what Lincoln was thinking.

"Is something Wring Lincoln?" Kate asked

"No not at all." Lincoln said

"I think there is." Kate said.

"No its just that…It's just I was thinking about my sisters back in my past life. That's all." Lincoln said in a somewhat nerves tone.

Even though Kate knew her husband well she still needed to ask. "Do you miss your sister?"

"What? NO!" Lincoln snapped

After a brief moment Lincoln took a deep breath and asked. "Why would you think that?"

"You seemed to miss them when you were thinking about them. I could be wrong." Kate explained

Lincoln didn't say anything ells. As the two were looking on at what to do for the weekend Lincoln said. "You know Chicago is only a three hour drive from here."

"Really!?" Kate asked with intrigue.

"We could take the kid down town to see all the attractions. The Field Museum, The Shed Aquarium, Navy Pier, Wriggly Field, Michigan Ave Shopping center." Lincoln said as he read down the list of places to go in the windy city.

"Lincoln that's a great Idea!" Kate said

With no further ado Lincoln called down his three sons.

"Michael, Jeffrey, Franklin."

As soon as the three got down stairs Lincoln delivered the announcement.

"Great News! We Are going to spend the Weekend at Chicago!" Lincoln said with excitement.

The three boys were just as excited as Lincoln was. They never been to Chicago but some of their friends from school have been. They went up to the windy city to see the Cubs or the Sox play. Maybe they'll even get to see the bears play at Soldier Field.

The Louder family was more than excited about the weekend ahead. A weekend of shopping, sightseeing, it was almost like a mini vacation. As for Lincoln this will be a trip he will never forget for more reasons than one. For he will soon see someone from his past he has not seen in twenty years. Someone who at one point he was close to and someone who caused him a lot of pain. This will be a weekend the Louder family will remember as well. They will soon learn that there is more to their family than they originally thought.

When Saturday morning came the family of five jumped into the car and drove off for the Big City. Taking the highways it was about a three hour drive. As soon as they saw The Sears Tower in the distance the kids got excited.

Lincoln and Kate had the day all planned out. Morning at Navy Pier, its off to The Field Museum, The Art Institute, The Adler Planetarium, Going up in the Sears Tower, And finally going to end the day with a baseball game at U.S. Cellular Field.

The first stop on this fun filled weekend trip was Navy Pier. The Louder family had a great time walking through the Crystal Gardens. And going to all the shops and exhibits the pier had to offer. There were shop that sold things from various different countries like, Ireland, England, Russia, Serbia and so on. Even though they didn't buy anything they still had a great time seeing all the different things that they could buy from foreign counties. They went out to the fair ground and the five even went up into the fairest wheel. The wheel went up so high that Jeffrey thought he could see their house from the top. Michael did say they could see the entire city from the top of the fairest wheel.

After a fun filled morning at Navy Pier, Lincoln and Kate took the children to the Field Museum. There were a lot of Dinosaur bones and fossils on display, there was even a T-Rex Named Sue. In addition to the Dinosaur exhibit. There were also many exhibits from ancient time's in different, Like a Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, and even a Medieval Europe exhibit. The Louder family got to go around to all these exhibits the museum had to offer.

After the field museum they went down to the Adler Planetarium. They got to see a lot of exhibits about the solar system and the planets moons and different space crafts and space capsules that that people used during space exploration. Franklin thought it would be great to be an astronaut one day.

After leaving the Adler Planetarium, it was getting high noon and the family of five were getting hungry. They drove around town to look for a place to eat. As they found a place in Michigan avenue just a block from the shopping centers, Michael asked his father about his past life.

"Now dad, if you don't want to talk about it I understand, But I need to ask you. What was life like before you were adopted at the age of eleven?" Michael asked

"Horrible!" Lincoln flatly stated.

"For eleven whole years you lived in that house, being mistreated by ten evil step-sisters. Why didn't you run away at an earlier age? If I was living in such conditions I would have ran away at the age of eight." Michael explained.

Lincoln did think back to his old life and his old family. Even though he did not want to admit it at the time he did have just as many good memories about them as he did have bad memories. Like the time Luna made his first Rock Concert unforgettable, the time he was Luan's helper for Funny Business, The time he was teaching Leni how to drive, and how Lori ruined her driving performance. Then he thought of the time Lucy Clogged the toilet with a Princess Pony Book and how he took the blame for her, How he shared his bedroom with Lynn after she got into a fight with Lucy and didn't want to stay in the same room with her overnight. Lynn The thought of her brought back the painful memories of the whole 'Bad Luck' incident.

"Believe me son, If the thought of running away from home came to my mind at the age of eight I would have ran off in a second." Lincoln stated.

Michael didn't want to trouble his father any further, and Kate didn't want to trouble her husband any further either. But it seemed to them that every time they brought up Lincoln's past life and what it was like before he was adopted by his foster parents. Before snapping and stating how bad everything was. It seemed as if Lincoln was reminiscing on this past life with his old family. It seemed to them almost like he misses them.

As the Louder family was enjoy their day out in the big city. Meanwhile in another part of the city not too far away from where the Louder's where at. In a run-down apartment that was being rented by a cab driver. Lynn Loud just got back from a day shift where she picked up fewer people then she hoped.

"Stupid Chandler! Telling everyone about my past life." Lynn growled.

Thinking her cab driving career was gone just like all her other career's in the past. Lynn was getting ready to pack up, move out and start a new life somewhere were people from her past didn't live. As she was pack up she looked at the newspaper and saw that the Chicago Cub's were playing at Wrigley Field. She thought to herself. Since it was going to be her last days in Chicago, Why not spend them at a ball game.

Unbeknownst to her that one particular family of five was going to be making plans to visit the same ball game at the same field. For at the same time Lincoln and Kate Louder got their children out and saw that the Cub's were playing to.

"Hey kid's you want to see a ballgame before we head back home?" Lincoln asked

The three boys all agreed with excitement. For at this ball game two people who have not seen each other in over twenty years were about to meet. This will be a memory that will be engraved in Lincoln's mind for a very long time. After all it was going to be the first time he will be reunited with his sister whom he has not seen in over twenty years, a person who caused him so much pain, suffering in the past. As for Lynn Loud, She was going to be reunited with her brother, whom she want's nothing more than to reconcile with. A brother whom she was very mean to in the past and was willing to do anything to gain his trust and forgiveness.

The rest of that day for the Louder family was just like any other family visit to Chicago. Michael loved the many historic sites, Parks, Shops and Museums. Jeffrey got to know why Chicago was known as the Windy City. Even Franklin looked down in aw on the millions of people who looked like ants after going up the Sear's Tower.

As for Lynn in another part of town. She gave her key back to her landlord. Turned in her cab and cab driving ID to her boss. Packed what little belongings she owned then she took off in her car planning on going to a ball game before leaving town.

Later that evening as a Family of five where driving into the parking lot of Wrigley Field a certain not unemployed cab driver pulled into the same parking lot just a few cars down from the Louder family. As Lincoln his wife, and three sons got out of the car he took no notice to the people around him. Lynn on the other had did. As soon as she got out of her car she noticed the family of five about four or five cars down from where she was. The thing that stood out most was the father of that family. He had white hair. Lynn didn't get a good look of the fathers face but his white hair did remind her of her brother Lincoln. She thought back to that time when she was so mean to her brother. How she use to beat him and how she convinced the entire family that he was bad luck. She also thought about the trial and how the entire family was divided because of it. Lynn thought long and hard about the bad times ad all the bad things she has done. 'If that was my brother I'd run over to him and beg for his forgiveness in a heartbeat.' She thought to herself. Even though she didn't know it at the time her brother was standing in line ten people ahead of her.

At the ball game the Cubs were playing the sox. The Ball Game did remind Lynn about her softball days back when she played on the team for Royal Woods. Before the whole incident were she accused her brother of being 'Bad Luck' Starting a downward spiral that eventually lead to her parents going to Jail, her going to Juvie and all her siblings getting adopted. Lynn sank low in her seat and was doing everything possible to keep from crying.

She looked around at the spectators then she saw the white haired man with his wife and three children. The same white hair man whom she saw in the parking lot before the game. She took a good long look at him. She noticed his facial appearances and things other than his white hair. "Lincoln!?" she asked herself quietly as not to disturbed the other spectators. "Could That Really Be Lincoln!?" Lynn thought to herself.

As for the family of five, Lincoln was having a great time with his wife Kate, and his son's Michael, Jeffrey and Franklin. When the batter hit a ball Lincoln could see that it was coming over to him and his family.

"Hey Michael! Look Out! Here It Comes!" Lincoln said

As Michael raised his hand up and caught the ball. Lynn watched the whole thing happen from wear she was. As Lincoln stood up with his entire family as they cheered. It then hit Lynn as if the ball hit her on the head. That Really Is Lincoln! It's Her Brother! She knew then and there if she was going to reconcile with him it had to be here and now!

After the game as the Louder Family was walking back to their car they heard a woman voice calling out Lincoln's name.

"Lincoln! Hey Lincoln!"

Lincoln and Kate looked at each other with puzzled and confused looks. Michael, Jeffrey, and Franklin felt the same way. As soon as they turned around they saw a woman running up to the family. At first Lincoln didn't recognize the woman maybe because it has been so long. She was wearing blue jeans, a flannel shirt, and boots. But Lincoln didn't recognize her at first.

"Excuse me? Who are you? Have we met before?" Lincoln asked the woman as she was standing right in front of the Louder family by this time.

After catching her breath the Woman said. "Lincoln it's me Lynn!"

Lincoln's eyes opened wide, he them noticed the brown hair and the facial complexion. He realized that it really was his sister Lynn, The same sister who turned the entire family against him, The same sister who use to beat him with her baseball bat, The same sister who was sent to juvie and whom Lincoln said was dead to him. Kate and the three boys took notice of this as well. She took a defensive stance in front of her three sons. Lincoln starred at her with a face of fear, shock, anger, and rage. The family did not know what to expect from their father. He looked at her as if he was staring at a deranged serial killer.

"Lincoln It's me, I'm Your Sister?" Lynn said.

Kate Worried that her husband might swing out of control quickly told her three sons to get into the car. Lincoln's face changed as he tried to calm himself down. He didn't want to go off in front of his family again like he did when Michael called Jeffrey 'Bad Luck'.

Lynn wanting to reconcile with her brother whom she did not see on over twenty years then asked. "Lincoln, don't you remember me?"

After Lincoln calmed down he took a deep breath and said. "Sorry! You got the wrong guy."

A.N. The next chapter will focus on Lynn's backstory as well as her reconciling with Lincoln. This story will also see how the rest of the Louder family will feel about Lynn. I'm currently looking for work over the summer, I will be updating this story but not on the weekly basis.
