Chapter 8. Fixing a Broken Sister.
Much has changed in the Louder family after that faithful night. Lincoln and Kate took Lynn into their home almost like an adopted daughter. Franklin ended up moving into the same bed room with his two older brothers Michael, and Jeffrey. His old bedroom became Lynn's bedroom. Lincoln and Kate both did their best to make Lynn feel like she belongs with them. Lincoln even got her a #1 sports jersey like the one she wore back when she was younger.
With all the new changes in the Louder family Lincoln and Kate had their hands full. As time went on Lincoln got a call from his adopted parents Larry and Lora Louder, and Kate got a call from her father Tom Turner. The call was that the three were planning on coming over for a visit. Lincoln and Kate both planned on inviting the three over for dinner. Lincoln then called in his three sons and his sister.
"Michael, Jeffrey, Franklin, Lynn!"
As soon as the four got in Lincoln informed the four. "This Saturday, Grandma, Grandpa Larry, and Grandpa Tom are coming over for dinner."
The three sons were excited then he turned his attention to Lynn. "Lynn, Larry and Lora are the parents who've adopted me. They know all about you and what you did before I was adopted."
Lynn's face fell with shame. Then Lincoln walked up to her held her chin up and said. "However I am willing to have you explain everything to them. Explain your side of the story and maybe they will be better understanding of you." Lincoln explained
Lynn did feel some since encouragement even though she knew the Louder parents had strong negative feelings for her.
As Saturday rolled around Larry and Lora Louder, and Tom Turner all three came over to the house. At first they were not surprised to see Lynn joining them, At first the three thought she was just a family friend whom Lincoln and Kate. Until Jeffrey came in
"Grandma, Grandpa Larry, Grandpa Tom, I see you've met Aunt Lynn." Jeffrey said
"JEFFREY!" Michael shouted out
At that moment shock and horror fell upon Larry and Lora's faces, an a look of shier confusion fell on Toms face.
Larry and Tom both walked up to Lynn and Larry asked. "Who…Are…You?"
Lynn looked the two men in the eyes and said. "I'm Lynn Loud. I'm Lincoln's older sister."
Tom then turned his attention back to Lincoln with a look of distrust then asked. "Lincoln, all the years I've known you, you've always said that you were an only child?"
Shortly after Tom asked this question Larry to the top of his lungs shouted. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!?"
This caught Toms attention as well as everyone ells in the Louder household. Maybe even some passing pedestrians walking outside the house.
Lynn looked down with shame as the truth about her and her relationship with Lincoln was about to be told.
"You…You know her?" Tom asked with an uneasy expression.
"There was a reason why Lincoln said he was an only child who didn't have any other siblings. Because of her his entire family kicked him out of his house and forced him to sleep in the back yard. The newspaper article also stated that she use to beats him." Larry explained
Tom then looked at his son-in-law and said. "You Mean You're The Victim of Abuse!?"
Lincoln took a deep breath and said. "Yes!"
Tom looked like he was about to go off into a state of panic.
"Is that a problem?" Lincoln asked
"YES! IT'S A PROBLEM! I've Read An Article Once About How 50% Of All Serial Killers Were Victims Of Abuse!" Tom explained in a state of panic.
At that moment Lincoln went from a look of confusion to an of ill-humored expression. He was raised by the Larry and Lora Louder for twenty years, he was married to Kate for over ten years. After all the years of growing up and raising a family in Deerfield Illinois. The idea of snapping and going on a killing spree. Lincoln thought if Tom was joking it was clearly in bad taste, of course his father-in-law was not known for his sense of humor. If he did make any jokes it would be the last thing Tom would do.
"Look Tom I am no serial killer, I think you may be over reacting?" Lincoln said
"Over Reacting! Do you want me to show you the article that explains the theory?" Tom asked
"Do you have the article on you?" Lincoln asked
Tom stood silent for a second. "Well' No!" he answered.
"Let me guarantee you that I am no Serial killer. I mean the mere thought about it is so ridiculous it's practically quaint!" Lincoln explained
"It's not quaint." Tom stated
At that moment Lora walked over to Lynn and asked. "Tell Me Lynn, After all the bad things you, and the rest of your family did to Lincoln, Why Did you Come Back Here?"
Lynn took and deep breath and stated bluntly "If you must know, I Want To Apologies to Him! To Let Him Know How Sorry I was For all the bad things me and the rest of my sisters did to him!"
"After all those years, All those years apart, Did you think Lincoln's going to forgive you after what you did to him all those years ago?" Larry asked
"As a matter of fact I did!" Lincoln stated.
The look on Larry and Lora's faces went from those of two enraged people to that of total confusion. They couldn't believe what their adopted son have just said. After raising Lincoln for twenty years If anything The abusive sister of the son they've adopted, the same sister who was sent to juvie for what she did to him, would be the very last person in the world they expected their son to forgive. But the two did raise their son to be loving and caring and to never harbor a grudge against anyone. Under normal circumstances however whenever he brought up about his sisters and his past life they told him it's better not to even think about her.
"I'm sorry son, I've must have miss heard you! Did you say You Forgave Your Sister!?" Larry asked with a mixed emotion of both surprise, worry, and confusion.
"No you didn't dad. I forgave her for all the bad things she did to me all those years ago." Lincoln calmly explained.
Both Larry and Lora were astonished by Lincoln words. Even Tom stood speechless. The three were astonished by Lincoln's testimony and after everything that Lynn did to him Lincoln still found it in himself to forgive her.
During dinner the Louder's Larry and Lora, and Tom Turner Lincoln's father-in-law all got to know Lynn. Got to know Lynn's story and why she changed.
"So…Um… Lynn, that is your name right?" Larry asked
"Yep." Lynn replied.
"So what have you've been doing in the past twenty years after we've adopted Lincoln, your brother?" Larry asked
Lynn looked down with sham, She really didn't want to talk about back story but at the same time she also wanted to share it with other.
"I've spent the first five years of our time apart from the rest of my family at the Michigan State Juvenile Correctional Facility, I would spend the next fifteen years afterword's working odd jobs just trying to get by."
Lynn pressed her lips together took a deep breath as she continued.
"Before making that mistake. The biggest mistake of my life. The same mistake that sent me to Juvie and sent Lincoln to his new family it was a dream of mine to play on a sport's team. I even wanted to play in the Olympics one day. Needles to say after word of my Juvie record got out. I was band from all sports, games and sports functions."
Lynn took a shaky breath as if she was trying to keep herself from crying.
"I would spent the next fifteen years moving from job to job. Fast food worker, warehouse Loader, Store shelf stocker, trucker. Until last week where I got a job as a cab driver."
Tears began to form in Lynn's eyes.
"At each and every job someone either found out about my past and I'd either get fired for it or someone would target me and berate me for it. During my brief stint as a cab driver. Chandler McCann who ran a bar recognized me and told everyone who I was and what I did."
Tears began to run down Lynn's face.
"Ever woman cab driver even said the men in the aria would not get into a cab driven by a woman in fear that I'd be that cab driver. It's like everywhere I go someone treats me like a deranged murderer."
Lynn then dropped her face in her hand and wept bitterly.
Larry, Lora and Tom were both at sat speechless. It was as if the sister who abuse Lincoln, beat him with her baseball bat, kick out of his house and turned the entire family against him was a completely different person from the woman who was sharing her story with the rest of them. The sister who was sitting with them didn't look anything like the monster Lincoln described from his past. It was not hard for any of the three grandparents to see why Lincoln forgave his sister. After seeing how sorry she was for everything she did, and how it affected her Larry, Lora, and Tom both felt sorry for her as well.
Even though Kate had finished making dinner it was clear that no one was hungry. After hearing Lynn's story and seeing how much it was affecting her, even Kate lost her apatite. The rest of that family gather was spent in dead silence. No one made a sound aside from Lynn's sobs.
After the gathering the three departed from the Louder residents. Lincoln went up to the bathroom were he saw Lynn sitting on the floor crying. her face was buried in her knees as she sat their alone sobbing. Remembering what she said earlier he looked her and wanted to have a talk with her.
"Lynn?" Lincoln asked
"Go way." Lynn croaked
Lincoln knelt down next to her and placed his hand on her shoulder and started to say. "Look Lynn …"
Be for he could finish Lynn slaps his hand off his shoulder and shouted. "I Said Go AWAY!"
Knowing that tone and that behavior from his childhood Lincoln demanded. "Alright What Wrong Lynn?"
"Oh Like You Fucking Care?" Lynn said in tears.
"Lynn I do Care I Care a Lot." Lincoln said pleading with his sister.
"NO YOU DON'T!" Lynn shouted out with tears pouring from her face.
"Why can't you admit it? Just For Once? Admit It! You Don't Love Me. Nobody Loves Me. You Above All People!" Lynn shouted as she sobbed.
"Everywhere I Go! Everyone Sees Me As The Monster Of Michigan, The Heartless Monster whom Beat Her Little Brother. Even I Hate Myself. Why? Why Can't You Just Say for Once? Just Say That You Hate Me? Like Everyone Ells Does?" Lynn shouted as she sobbed.
Lincoln knew what Lynn was talking about. She was still upset over everything she did in the past. Lincoln knew she changed. Even after twenty years he still remembers his time with his biological family back on 1216 Franklin Ave. He also remembered how resilient his sister was back then. Before the 'Bad Luck' incident. How she would sprain her ankle and how she would just walk it off. If she broke her leg she would get angry trough a tantrum for not being able to play sports anymore. In all the days back at his old house he never once recalled Lynn crying like she was doing now and like she did when she confronted him that day.
Lincoln took a seat right next to her and said. "Do You Want to know the truth Lynn. I did hate you. Once."
Lynn looked up as Lincoln explained his story. "Back at that house on 1216 Franklin Ave. Royal Woods Michigan. I always hated the obnoxious little monster who would always push me around. Wrestle with me when I didn't want to. The monster who would always give me Dutch Ovens and beat me with her baseball bat. In fact the day after the trial, when that monster was sentence to juvie I always thought of it as the happiest day of my life."
Lynn began to tear up as Lincoln continued. "That was twenty years ago. I was only eleven years old back then. If you were to tell me back when I was eleven years old at the time that I was going to get married and father three children I would have thought it was either a joke or the person was insane. All through the rest of my childhood I never thought I'd get married until I met Kate Turner. I fell madly in love with her."
Lincoln pauses a second time as he continued his story. "Looking back at my life in Royal Woods Michigan I never recalled that thirteen year old monster sobbing or crying like a little baby on the floor. And that eleven year old boy I use to be. I never recalled him wanted to get married and starting a family of his own."
Lynn did calm down as Lincoln was still explaining himself. "Lynn, What I'm trying to say is that I've changed, and you've changed too. You're not that little monster who use to beat me with her baseball bat and do other horrible thing anymore. And I'm not that eleven year old conniving kid anymore."
Tears still pouring from her eyes Lincoln holds Lynn's head up and said. "That Monster you use to be is now dead. And I love you for who you've grown into."
At that moment Lynn threw her arms around Lincoln and Lincoln didn't hesitate to hug her back. She continued crying in his arms on the floor of the bathroom. Words cannot express the love and affections Lynn felt for her brother. Kate and the three boys did overhear the conversation between Lincoln and Lynn. To see Lynn once again express her regret and her remorse for everything she did, and to see Lincoln once again forgiver her for her part in everything. Lynn can never stop forgiving her brother for everything she has done to him in the past, and she can never thank him enough for all that he did for her. That night Lynn was now officially a part of the Louder family.
A few days after the night were Lincoln invited his foster parents and father-in-law. As well as the talk Lynn had with Lincoln confirming for her that they were still siblings and part of the same family. While Michael, Jeffrey, and Franklin were still at school. Lincoln came home from work to see his wife Kate and his Sister Lynn talking together.
"You know summer vacation starts in a few months." Kate said
"Do you have any planes on where to go or what to do?" Lynn asked
"Well seeing that your and the Loud family all came from Michigan I was thinking of visiting up there you know getting to know your family." Kate said
"What do you mean?" Lincoln asked
Lynn took a deep breath and said. "Bro I know it's been twenty years since we've last seen our parents. That includes me."
"Lynn, in case you have forgotten our parents are both serving life sentences in jail. Driving up to Michigan just to visit our parents seems like a pretty crappy idea." Lincoln stated.
At that moment Kate stood up, walked over to her husband and said. "Lincoln, Remember that night when Lynn came over to our house. How she pleaded with you and how you forgave her for all the bad things she did to you in your life? "
"I already forgave you Lynn, I really did." Lincoln said
"Well from what you said earlier, before meeting Lynn that your parents were just as bad and just as mean as Lynn was. Maybe it time to forgive them for their part?" Kate said
Lincoln took a step back. He really needed to proses this. He thought to himself. If he never encountered Lynn at the baseball game that night would he have forgave her for what she did in the past. Now after twenty years apart. Should he return back to Michigan visit the prisons were his parents and reconcile with them? Even though driving his entire family all the way up to Michigan just to reconcile with his two parents who are both serving life sentences does sound like a pretty crappy way to spend summer vacation, But then again there are water parks and other attractions in Michigan so it wouldn't be a bad idea after all. After thinking it over Lincoln decided to make the arrangements. He contacted his boss and he gave him two weeks' vacation.
At the end of the day when Michael, Jeffrey, and Franklin came home from school Lincoln called his three sons into the sitting room where he, their mother and their Aunt Lynn were all waiting.
"So are you kid's exciting about the coming summer?" Lincoln asked
It was hard for his boys not to get excited about the coming summer months. Michael was only ten, Jeffrey was eight, and Franklin was five. The three boys were just about as excited as summer vacation as any other young child their age, No school, No Homework. Just three months of fun and freedom.
"Of Course Dad!" Michael said
"You Know It!" Jeffrey said
"I Can't Wait!" Franklin said
Lincoln could tell the excitement and the anticipation in his three son's voices. It was at that moment he delivered his announcement.
"Michael, Jeffery, and Franklin. This summer you, me, your mother and your Aunt Lynn are all going to Michigan on Vacation!" Lincoln said
The three boys were over excited with joy over the new of their summer vacation. For Michael, Jeffrey and Franklin it meant fun in the sun, water parks, and just about every other resort. For Kate, Lincoln, and Lynn it meant something much, much more, and much, much deeper. The two siblings were going to reconnect with the parents whom they have not seen in over twenty years but as fate has instore for the two Loud siblings was going to be something complete different. On this two week trip Lynn, and Lincoln are going to finer out what happened to the rest of their family in the twenty years they have gone. A lot have changed for both Lynn and Lincoln in the twenty years since the trial, since Lincoln grew up in Deerfield Illinois. Now he was going to learn the fate of his parents as well as what happened to his other nine sisters in the years apart. Needless to say this was going to be a vacation the Louder family will remember for a very long time!"
A.N. I want to cover what happened to Lynn Sr. and Rita first before covering what happened to the other nine sisters. Each of the sister will get their own chapters. I will also be doing chapter about Clyde and Ronnie Anne.
