Chapter 11. A Sisters Worth.

Later that evening after the trip to the cemetery were Luna shown Lincoln the grave of her lover Sam. For a full hour Lincoln held Luna as she cried in his arms. Now it was getting late and the entire family of now seven were looking for a place to eat. After Lincoln explained everything to his wife, three son's and Lynn they all agreed to let Luna stay with the family. They soon found themselves walking the streets of down town Detroit.

As the seven were walking Luna looked faint and pail. "I don't feel so good bro." she said in an uneasy tone.

"Are you alright Luna?" Lincoln asked as he walked up to her.

"Lincoln I…" before Luna could say anything ells.

(THUD)

"LUNA!" Lincoln cried out as he ran over to his seemingly lifeless sister who passed out. He picked her up in his arms. Luna was out cold. Even though Lincoln could tell that she was still barely breathing he still feared the worst for her.

"Luna Wake Up Luna! Stay With Me!" Lincoln said trying to revise his sister.

As Lincoln looked around much to his surprise and relief he noticed a hospital just a few blocks away from where they were. Lincoln picked up seemingly lifeless sister and ran over to the hospital carrying Luna bridal style as made his way into the hospitals entrance.

"HELP! MY SISTER IS SICK!" Lincoln called out.

Luna was immediately placed on a stretcher and moved to the Emergency Room. Lynn Kate and the three boys all ran into the hospital Lincoln was at. As Luna was being treated in the E.R. Lincoln and the rest of his family were with him in the waiting room. Much to Lynn and Kate's astonishment over Lincoln concern for Luna. The two even began to question their own views on her. Both Kate and Lynn knew Luna was sent to prison for a reason, and as soon as Lincoln paid her bail the two were anything but welcoming about her. But Lincoln, Lincoln stuck up for Luna as if she was an innocent victim of a crime she was wrongfully accused of.

As the five sat around Lincoln Lynn asked. "So…uh…Bro. Why was Luna on prison?"

Lincoln raised his head up to the two and said. "If you must know she became addicted to drugs and her best friend died of an overdose. The brother of the friend who died threatened to keep her behind bars forever."

"So she's a dealer?" Kate asked

Lincoln looked at Kate with a very agitated glair. "NO! She Was Only and Addict! And that's why shew was in bars." He explained out loud.

Even Michael one of Lincoln's son questioned his father's transformation. "Dad remember how you said that your sisters were evil step-sisters and how you never wanted to see them again. Why now are you acting concern about them as if she was one of your own children?" He asked his father.

Lincoln's expression changed to that of somewhat guilt. Then he looked his son in the eyes and explained. "Son, Remember that song I use to sing to you when you were little."

Michael thought back long and hard. At that moment the words of his father came back like an old recording

(Hush little Baby Lay Down Your Sleepy Head.

It's Getting Late and It's Time To Go To Bed.

When The Sun Comes Out A New Day Will Rise Ahead

Now Hush Little Baby Lay Down Your Sleepy Head!)

After listening to these words Michael began to sing these exact words.

"You use to sing that to all of use when we were little." Franklin said

Lincoln smiled and said. "Your Aunt Luna use to sing that to me too what I was only a baby. Over time her taste in music changed and she got me into rock and roll."

Then Lincoln asked "Do you remember that song I was playing in the garage the day I was fixing the car? The one I was singing to."

"Grab Life by the Lips! And Give It A SMOOCH!" Michael sang out

"I was a huge SMOOCH Fan back when I was your age. I would listen to their songs and I even had every album they ever recorded. When I was one Year older then you are now. I went to my first SMOOCH concert with my best friend at the time. Your Aunt Luna saved us a spot in line." Lincoln said as he started

At that moment the look on Lincoln's face went from one of happy reminiscing memories to one of painful regret and remorse. He even looked like he was on the verge of tears.

"All your other Aunts warned me earlier about your Aunt Luna. They said how they ruined their first concerts. In line she was embarrassing me, She found a girl my age and said 'Just Your Type Bro!' showing off these embarrassing dance moves. I told her she was embarrassing me. She left sad but the line moved up, and we had to be sent to the back of the line. By the time we got to the window SMOOCH was sold out. This one guy offered us tickets, turned out he was an undercover cop selling scalped tickets. I ended up in the holding cell."

Lincoln begins shedding tears. "I…I called my mom…Well at the time I…I thought it was my mom. Turned out it was Luna. She returned to the mall prison holding cell were…were me and my friend were placed in."

Lincoln took a deep breath. "She…she told us the story of her first concert and how it changed her. It was a Mick Swagger concert and how she became hooked on Rock and Roll from that moment on. The Guard at the front desk overheard our story. He was so moved by it that he gave us our tickets back and let us go to the concert. He even had a third ticket for Luna and she joined us that night."

At that moment Lincoln brock down crying.

At that moment Kate looked down at her husband. A hard scull plastered on her face. As soon as Lincoln looked up at Kate she stated out Loud. "I Am Very Disappointed in You Lincoln Louder! You Said So Yourself That Your Sisters Were Dead To You! And That They Didn't See You As Your Brother! What Luna Did For You That Night! Going Over To The Jail Holding Cell were You And Your Friend Were! How She Was Going To Free You After You Shouted At Her And Told Her To Leave! You Described her as a monster when in fact she sounded like a great older sister. The one who came back for you even after told her to get lost. I Can't believe you would do such a thing to her. I am very disappointed in you Lincoln That Very Low!"

Lincoln with tears still in his eyes said. "I Know What I said That Night and believe me. I Regret every word of it."

"And those lullaby's! The lullaby's you sang to our three sons were also the same lullaby's your sister sang to you!? The Same sister whom you've portrayed in a negative light!? I can't believe you would do such a thing!" Kate explained

After thinking about all the bad things he said about his one sister. Lincoln was ashamed of everything he has said. "Believe me Kate. If I wasn't so angry all the time because of the trial I would have told you about her. I'm ashamed of myself now."

At that moment Lynn who was listening to the whole conversation snapped. "NO! You shouldn't blame yourself. It's all My Fault!" Lynn shouted out as tears ran down her face. "About three months before I Kicked Lincoln out of the house accusing him of Bad Luck I got into a fight with my one sister whom I was sharing a room with! I stormed out of that room and Lincoln was kind enough to let me sleep with him." Lynn said as she began crying.

"Yah I remembered that night. She kept me awake with her snoring and we gave each other Dutch ovens." Lincoln explained

"What's a Dutch oven?" Jeffrey asked

Before Lynn could say anything Lincoln stated bluntly. "Don't Ask!"

At that moment Lynn walked over to Lincoln and said "Lincoln! After you let me sleep in his room. After you've let me share your room with me. Share your bed with me after I got into that fight with Lucy. You've…You've always been so giving of me and I've treated you like crap." Lynn then broke down into tears.

Kate was at a loss for words. She could tell the pain, the guilt and the regret in both their voices. What Lynn did to her brother after he let him share his room with her! What Lincoln said about his sister after all the things she done for him? It seemed to Kate that the loud siblings never stopped loving each other. They did harbor quiet a grudge against one and other for quite some time. But the After hearing the guilt, in each of their voices and see the regret in their eyes. Kate can't help but feel sorry for them and all they went through.

A few hours later a doctor arrived in the waiting room Lincoln and the rest were waiting. "Excuse me? Are you the family of the woman with the buzz haircut who was rushed an hour ago?" he asked

"Yes, I'm her brother." Lincoln said

The doctor then smiled and said. "I have some good news. She'll live and she'll make a full recovery!?"

Lincoln, Lynn, Kate, and the three boys all let out a sigh of relief after receiving this news.

"The blood test confirmed that she did have some levels of amphetamines in her system. A history report also confirmed that she was a drug addict at one time." The doctor explained.

While the doctor was describing Luna's prognosis Lincoln asked. "Could we see her?"

"Of Cores! She's wide awake." The doctor said

As the doctor led the family of six to the room were Luna was. Lincoln began to pounder in his mind. 'Does she still play music? Does she still go to concerts?' Lincoln thought about this for quite some time. After telling his son's about their Aunt Luna and her love of music growing up. Lincoln began to wonder if she's still into music and if she could one day preform for her nephews.

As the six entered the room were Luna was she was sitting up in bed. She looked better than she did before she passed out on the streets.

"Hey Bro What's Up!" Luna called out as she waved her brother down.

"Hey Luna! You had us worried there for a second." Lincoln said with relief.

"Sorry Dude, didn't mean to scare you in front of the kids." Luna said

"Aunt Luna is it true you made dad's first rock concert unforgettable?" Michael asked as he walked over to his Aunts bedside.

"Sure did little man. That was back years ago. Long before that whole…incident." Luna said in an uncomfortable tone with the memory of the whole 'Michigan vs. Loud' trial playing back in her head.

"Look Luna, I know it's been a while scenes and I know with concern comes restriction…But the Doctors said you've passed out from faint traces of amphetamines in your system…" Lincoln said uncomfortably knowing how Luna's friends Sam lost her life. "Anyway the doctors said they did a history check on you and they said you've been an addict most of your life. I have to ask…Do You still do drugs." Lincoln concluded

Luna looked up and said. "Well not any more bro. Remember I did spent the past two years in prison and prisons are very strict when it comes to drug control. By the time you and Lynn visited me I was completely over it. My two years in prison gave me a lot of time to think about where I was going in Life and what I was doing."

Luna gave a downcast look. "I Was doing all sorts of things from drugs to alcohol anything that would get me high or just make me forget all about that…Day." Luna paused as she then continued. "Truth is I spent years trying to forget all about my past bro, trying to forget everything that happened during the trial. I've been either trying to drown out my troubles with booze or get high just to forget about the past." Luna explained with a down cast look.

Lincoln felt his heart sink in his chest when Luna brought up the trial. He knew then and there why his sister stoop to such a low.

"Luna! The trial happened twenty years ago! Please don't worry about it!" Lincoln said

Luna looked up and smiled a little. "That's very big of you Bro. But the truth Is after the trial I blamed myself for my part in everything. I've should have spoken up for you then. I should done something but I didn't. I couldn't even play music or preform for anyone anymore. Every time I played music it reminded me of you." Luna said with a frown

Lincoln listened intently on what Luna had to say. "I always enjoyed it when you asked me to perform for you bro. Every time you request music from me. I swear out of all the sibs living in that house you're the one who requested the most numbers from me. I really enjoyed playing for you Linc."

At that moment Lincoln felt like he was punched in the stomach. All those time Luna preformed for him, All those time she played music for Lincoln. Those memories of her preforming for Lincoln were the one thing Lincoln would never trade for anything in the world. At yet at the same time. The one sister who opened him up to the music she performed for him. The one sister who got him into SMOOCH and other band. It seemed to him that she was trying to throw it all away. Like she didn't want anything to do with it anymore. The mere thought of his once Music loving sister trying to throw the past away was both heart wrenching and soul crushing. He never seen her in such a low mood before.

Lincoln then thought back to when he told his three sons about his old family when Michael called Jeffrey 'Bad Luck' and how it triggered all those bad memories back into his head. It downed on Lincoln that he too was trying to through those same memories away. The same good time's he had with his sisters and all the other times they were there for him as he was there for them.

Lincoln now felt guiltier then ever for how he depicted his sisters earlier to his family. Lincoln knelt by Luna's bedside looked her in the eyes and said. "Luna I…I want you to know that…That I may have said some things about all of my sisters that I…" Lincoln looked down with a sad look. "I wish I would take back… Looking back before…before the whole Bad Luck incident I…I really loved listening to you play…I loved all the time's we'd jam together and make music together." Lincoln said

Tears started to build up in Luna's eye's as Lincoln continued. "Looking back at all the time's you've preformed for me before the whole incident I…I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world…and I…If you say no I'll full understand But… But one day I…I'd really love to have my rocker older sister preform for my three kids." Lincoln said fighting back tears.

At that moment the flood gates in Luna's eyes opened up and tears poured down her face. "Oh Bro… I'll be more than happy to…" Luna said with a smile as tears streamed down her face. She threw her arms around Lincoln and covered his face with kisses. To have her brother asked her to perform for him and his family again meant for more for her then anything in the world. When Lincoln heard his sister Luna willing to play for him again. He was more than happy to have his sister back.

"Aunt Luna." Michael said as he went by Luna's bed side. At that moment Luna got one good look at her nephew Michael. She noticed his white Hair and facial complexion. To her he looked just like his father looked when he was his age. Mines the hazel eyes he looked just like her Lincoln did back before the family kicked him out based on superstition.

"Dad told me how you made his first concert unforgettable. He even told me about the lullaby you use to sing to him back when he was young. The same lullaby he use to sing to me back when I was a baby.

At that moment Michael began to sing.

(Hush little baby lay down your sleepy head.

It's getting late and it's time to go to bed.)

At that moment a memory from Luna's childhood played back in her mind like an old video recording. The back when she was five years old holding her one your old brother in her arms. Singing that same lullaby to him. A huge Smile graced Luna's face as she listened to her nephew singing the same lullaby she passed down to her brother and her brother passed down to his son's.

After he finished singing to Luna Michael asked. "Did you sing any other songs like that for our Dad?"

Luna reached over and ruffed her nephew's hair. "I sure did little man."

After seeing how Luna was interacting with both her husband and her son Kate couldn't help but feel a strong sense of pity for sister-in-law. The same pity Lincoln felt for when he freed her from prison. After hearing how much of an impact she had on her husband's life. Kate saw Luna to be a really great person. Knowing how sorry her husband was for what he said about her earlier. And how the time apart drover her to drug addiction and even cost the life of one of her friends. Now seeing her interacting with Lincoln and Michael she saw her as just as much a part of her family as Lincoln and her three sons were.

As for Lynn, tears began pouring down her face as well. To see her brother forgive another member of the family who mistreated him all those years ago. She felt she was closer to having her old family back and even though both their parents were in prison serving life sentences. She did take refuge in knowing that they too were doing well in prison. Hell even their father was the head chef of the penitentiary he was incarcerated at. But still With both his parents and two of his sister reconciled Lincoln felt more at ease with his old family. But there were still eight of his sisters somewhere out there. Eight women whom Lincoln was now more then ever willing to fined and reconcile with. That his family will be complete again.
