Chapter 14. The Catatonic Comedian.

After a while Lincoln and the rest of his family had to calm themselves over the bad news regarding one of Lincoln's sisters. As Lucy has just pointed out a few minutes ago.

"Did…Did Luan…Die?" Lincoln asked in a very worried uneasy tone fearing the worst.

"No. She's not dead. Even though her state of mind might be." Lucy said in a gloom tone.

Remembering her time as her Roommate Luna stood up and asked with concern. "Did something happen to her?"

Lucy looking at her two sisters and her brother then said. "Lincoln, Luna, Lynn come with me."

The four went up to the school library were Lucy pulled out a newspaper from three years ago. "Lynn, Luna as I told Lincoln after the trial me and Luan got adopted by the Yates family. We even took on their last name. After graduating Grade School I went on to be a teacher and Luan went on work as a Bank Secretary. She even met a man named Benny who proposed to her and was going to be her husband."

At first the three were in high hopes that nothing that bad has happened to Luan.

"Being raised by the Yates gave us a better perspective on life and helped us pursue better goals in going to Grade School for higher education. However their morals and ethics did nothing for her sense of humor. She'd pranked everyone in the bank she worked at in the same way she pranked us every April First." Lucy explained.

The mere memories of Luan's April Fool's Day frescos sent chills down their spines.

"She would place explosive dye packs on her coworker's desks. After they exploded her coworkers would be completely covered with red, blue, or green dye that would take weeks to wash out. Another example was when the Bank she worked for had 'Bring your pets to work day' she snuck in three live skunks that stunk up the entire bank and it had to be closed down and aired out." Lucy continued.

"Was she fired?" Lynn asked

"She was giving a warning after the skunk incident. She laid off pranking for a while until April First about three years ago. They were having a department meeting on April Fool's Day above all days. She wanted to set off fireworks during the meeting. Unfortunately the state out lawed the sale of fireworks the year before. But that didn't stop her. She purchased manuals and looked up on line tutorials on how to make homemade fireworks." Lucy said as she placed the newspaper on the table in front of her three siblings.

The Headlines read.

(THREE DEAD, AND SIX WOUNDED, IN BANK PRANK GONE WRONG!)

"There were ten people in that meeting. Luan was the only one who came out of it unscathed." Lucy explained

Both Luna, Lynn, and Lincoln's eyes opened wide with the realization of what Luan did.

"Luan…Did…This?" Lincoln asked in a very uneasy tone.

"Unfortunate for Luan she miss wired the fireworks she was going to set off. Instead of going off like homemade fireworks it went off more like a homemade bomb." Lucy explained.

After reading into it the name Benny came up as one of the three who died. After remembering what Lucy told them earlier Lincoln asked. "Lucy was Benny…"

Before Lincoln could finish Lucy said. "Yes Lincoln, Benny her Fiancé was killed in the explosion."

Just like Luna with Sam Lincoln did feel sorry for Luan and how she lost Benny. Even though the evidence was laid out right in front of him he had to ask. "What…what happened to Luan?"

"At first the police want to prosecute Luan. They've searched her apartment and found all the evidence on making homemade fireworks. The evidence was gathered, Lawyers were called in. Everything was in place for trial that would have almost certainly placed Luan behind bars, But it never happened." Lucy explained

"Why didn't it happen?" Lincoln asked

Lucy took a deep breath. "The trauma from the whole incident left her in a catatonic state. She was admitted to the Michigan State Insane Asylum." She explained

Both Luna, Lynn, and Lincoln's hearts sank in their chest over the news of their once comedic sister now reduced to a catatonic wreck. Even if her April Fool's Day Frescos were borderline psychotic. She still brought so much joy and happiness to children with her "Funny Business!". Even if they ran away and hid during her 'Pranking Apocalypse' To hear one of her pranks backfired in the worst way imaginable was deeply disturbing for the three.

After a while of processing all that has happened to Luan Lincoln then worked up the courage to asked. "Can…can we visit her?"

"Alright, but brace yourselves." Lucy said

After explaining Luan's situation to his wife and three sons. Kate decided it was best if she took Michael, Jeffrey, and Franklin to a park or resort as Luna, Lynn, Lincoln, and Lucy went to visit Luan. After an hour and a half drive the four arrived at the Michigan State Insane Asylum. As the four checked in to visit Luan. After the doctors and the nurses understood that the four were there to see Luan they led the four to a waiting room where they sat down.

After moment or two a Doctor walked in and asked. "Excuse me? Are you four here to see Luan Yates?"

Lincoln stood up and said. "Yes we're her family."

"I'm Dr. Tomb Luan's person Psychologist. I want you to know that she has not spoken a word or made any sort of contact in three years." Dr. Tomb said

Lincoln looked at Luna, Lynn, and Lucy and the four looked back at him. After a while Lincoln said. "We still want to see her."

"Alright wheel her in." Dr. Tomb said.

At that moment a nurse moved a wheel chair in the room. In the chair was none other than Luan. Her hair was worn down and she was in a hospital gown. A blank lifeless expression fell on her face. As soon as the other four got a good look at her, they were both filled with sorrow.

"Can we…Can we talk to her?" Lincoln asked

"You can try." Dr. Tomb said

Lincoln pulled up a chair and sat down right in front of Luan. "Lu…Luan. It's Me. It's your brother Lincoln? Don't you remember me?"

Luan didn't move, the only sound she made was a breathing sound. Lincoln's face fell.

"Look Luan…I know…I know about Benny and the prank that went wrong…I…I want you to know right now that…You…You have my deepest sympathies…" Lincoln struggled to think up the right words to say.

Luan just sat there in an expressionless catatonic comatose state. It was almost as if she wasn't even alive. A storm of mixed emotions battered Lincoln like a hurricane. He wanted to let Luan know that he was still her brother and that he forgave her for her part in the whole "Bad Luck" incident that happened twenty years ago.

"Luan. I…I don't know if you can hear me or not…But I want you know that…" Lincoln started to say on the verge of tears. "That you will always be my sister, and I will always love you." Lincoln finished as tears rolled down his face.

Just as Lincoln got up from his seat and began to walk away Luan started making a sound. "L-L-L-L-L"

"Bro Look!" Luna shouted with excitement.

"La-la-la" Luan stammered as she struggled to speak.

Dr. Tomb was amazed by this. This was the first time in three years Luan ever try to say anything.

"La-La-La." Luan said, feeling a glimmer of hope Lincoln sat down in front of her hoping that she'd remember him. "Luan is there anything you want to tell me?" Lincoln asked

Her face descontorting as she struggled to speak she muscled out her brother's name

"La-La-Link-Ca-On."

At that moment Lincoln realized that she spoke his name, very broken up but she spoke his name none this less. This made Lincoln very happy. "You remember me!" Lincoln said with excitement. He rushed back and sat down in front of Luan then asked. "Do you remember anything ells about me?"

At that moment tears poured down Luan's face and she began crying. Lincoln began to worry about his sister as she began to cry.

"Luan what's wrong?" he asked

"I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-SSSSSSSSSSSAr-Ar-Ar-Ar-Ar-Ar-Ar-Ar-Ar-Ar-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-La-La-La-La-La- Link-On." Luan muster out. She just continued sobbing and crying.

Thinking it has something to do with the incident that landed her in the Asylum. Lincoln tried to comfort her. "Look Luan…I know about the firework incident. It's not your fault the fireworks backfired on you…You use to prank us all the time back at the old house. Even thought there were times ware we were hospitalized for a deration we still forgave you for all the times your pranks went wrong. Please Luan. I want you to know it was not your fault and blaming yourself won't bring Benny back." Lincoln tried to explain trying to be both sincere and understanding at the same time.

"Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Bad-Bad-Bad" Luan babbled as tears continued pouring down her face like a waterfall.

"Luan Please I know what happened that day was bad I know three people died in that blast. But I want you to know right now…" Lincoln tried to explain.

Before he could finish explaining himself Luan said with clarity and coherence. "Bad Luck."

At that moment it hit Lincoln like a tone a bricks. The reason why Luan was so upset after seeing her brother back. She was still suffering from the guilt of the whole Bad Luck incident. Knowing full on the reason for Luan's agony Lincoln looked back at his three other sister's asked them to come to him and he explained. "Luan I want you to know that incident happened over twenty years ago. I've already forgave all of you for what happened."

As Lincoln was explaining Lynn walked over to Lincoln and wrapped her arm around him. At that moment Luan noticed Lynn next to Lincoln and she stopped crying.

"It's true Luan he did forgive us for what we did to him all those years ago." Lynn said

Luan face twitch and contorted with a storm of mixed emotions. With the memory of the whole incident still fresh in her mind and the to see Lynn the one who was responsible for all the pain and suffering Lincoln went through, Lynn could tell that a part of Luan wanted to beat the crap out of her. The rest notice by her expression that she was clearly aggravated.

"Calm down Braw, We were all angry with Lynn over what she did. But she still apologized and we still forgave her." Luna said as she stepped in.

After seeing the face of her former roommate Luan's expression changed from that of anger to a giant smile. Luan looked around at her three sisters and her brother then said. "Yyyy You-you-you-you- Guy's Are-are-are-are you-you-you-you-you-you all-all-all-all-all- Right w-w-w-w-w-with etch other?" Luan stammer out asking.

"Yes Luan were all doing fine now." Lincoln explained.

Dr. Tomb was astounded. Not only did Luan start talking she was starting to speak in coherent sentences. After seeing her go from an incoherent seemingly lifeless shell of a person all the way to talking and interacting with her family members Dr. Tomb was fascinated on how a simple family visit could have changed her in such a short period of time.

As for the rest of the visit Luan was talking more coherently and interacting with her four siblings almost as if she was a normal person. She still spoke with a stutter but everyone could tell from Luan's interaction she was out of her catatonic state. She even laughed as Lincoln told her about his family life with his wife and three sons. As the day went on the visit was coming to an end. Lincoln promise to introduce Luan to his wife and kids on the next visit. Just as Lincoln was about to leave Luan stuttered out. "I La-La-La-Love You La-La-La-Lincoln."

Lincoln turned back and said. "I love you too sis." Then he gave her a kiss on her forehead. Dr. Tomb who was watching the whole visit sat with amazement. Luan was completely catatonic for the past three year every time someone tried to talk with her she'd only give a blank stare. She would never so much as even so much as make a grunt if you asked her a question, but after a visit from her brother she was almost as if she was talking normally and recognizing

As they four were leaving Lucy gets a text on her phone from her employer Agnes Johnson.

"I have to go now. You know where to find me." Lucy said as she left to return back to the school.

Luna, Lynn, and Lincoln were left alone as the three were thinking about what to do next.

"So do you have any idea were the rest of our family is?" Lincoln asked Lynn

Before she could answer an all too familiar voice said. "I do."

The three turned around and sure enough saw an all too familiar state trooper walking up to them.

"Ron…" Before Lincoln could finish saying Ronnie Anne, She gave him a cold stair Lincoln stopped and replied. "Officer Santiago? Do you know what happened to any of my sisters?"

Ronnie Anne smiled and replied. "My cousin Carlota runs a fashion boutique at the Royal Woods Mall."

"So?" Lynn asked with a shrug.

"Let's just say two of your sister's work for her at the shop in the mall." Ronnie Anne said

"Who?" Luna asked

Ronnie Anne took a deep breath and said "Leni and Lola."

Luna, Lynn, and Lincoln stood silent. It was clear where they three were going to next.

A/N. I know this chapter was a little short. But I do have a tight schedule. I'll most likely have the next chapter ready in December or next year. I know there were some concerns about having Leni and Lola adopted by a hooker. However in the next chapter we'll see that the two will be saved and adopted by better people. The next chapter will open up with a flashback seen with Ronnie Anne at the Police Academy. This is all I have for now.
