Chapter 15. The victims and the victimized.
Ten Years Earlier…
The Michigan State Police Academy had a slew of new recruit. Cadets who are training to one day be in law enforcement. One of these cadets was Ronnie Anne Santiago. She was already being trained in identify suspicious activity. How to pick a particular people out in a crowed. As well as how to identify drug addicts. During her studies to become a State Trooper, Ronnie Anne also took classes on Law how some people use "So Called" Legal activities to justify their actions. Her teacher was a lawyer and she was currently taking this class. Even though the instructor has brought up various different cases and various different people this particular class was going to be different for more reasons than one.
"As most of the people in the state of Michigan know very well that both the Federal Government, and State Governments have what are called 'Single Parent Relief Programs.' To simply put it if you are a single mother or a single father you can apply for a Government Grant and get 'Support Checks' from the government. However certain criteria do apply for these government grants. You can't just walk into a federal building clam you're a single parent and start receiving stimulus checks on the spot. They have to check with your children. Check on your background and employment. In fact there was a scam not so long ago were prostitutes and drug dealers who worked on the streets would pick up the names of children while walking into an adoption center and walk out clamming to be the parents who are adopting them. The only reason they so call "Adopt them." Is in hopes that they will get stimulus checks from the government." The instructor state.
One of the classmates in this particular class raised his hand and asked. "Do you know any particular cases involving this scam?"
The instructor smiled and said. "Yes, as a matter of fact I've invited two individuals who were victims of this scam."
At that moment two young women walked into the class room were the cadets were. They were both blond, one had a green dress the other was wearing a pink dress. Ronnie Anne took one good long look at the two. She could have sworn they looked familiar to her. Almost as if she knows them.
"This is Leni Loud and Lola Loud. They were both victims of the same horrible scam I've just described to you." The instructor explained.
Ronnie Anne jumped back in shock. To see two of Lincoln's sisters in the same Police Academy were she was studying to become a law enforcement officer. 'The same girls whom only ten years ago kicked their only brother out of the house.' Ronnie Anne thought to herself. She wondered if the Instructor was even aware of what the two sisters done to their brother. The instructor like everyone ells in the state of Michigan knew about the whole "State of Michigan vs. Loud" case. Did he think the two were in no way related to the bad parents or the young boy?
As all these questions were running through her head one of the cadets asked the two girls. "So um who adopted you?"
Leni spoke first. "Her name was Teresa but everyone called her Thicc Q.T. we were with her for about three to four months."
"After that we were sent to a farm family named the Honeycutt's" Lola said
"Who found you? And how were you found?" Another cadets asked
"The police stormed our apartment were Teresa or Thicc Q.T. as she was called was keeping us." Lenis explained
"We were sent back to the adoption agency and was explain everything about what has happened." Lola said.
At that moment a thought came to Ronnie Anne's mind. She knew she might suffer a backlash but she asked anyway. "Are you in anyway related to family of the young boy who was kicked out of his own house in the case of. "The State of Michigan vs. Loud?"."
At that moment Leni said. "Oh you must mean Lincoln he's our brother." Leni said with a happy smile.
"LENI!" Lola screamed out.
At that moment all the cadets looked at the two with as if they were looking at giant insects that flown into the room.
"Did you beat your brother up?" One cadet asked with suspicion.
"NO! It was Lynn! We didn't mean to hurt him. I Swear! " Lola said in a state of panic.
"Why did you kick you brother out of your house?" Another cadet asked
"He said he was bad luck." Leni said
"LENI!" Lola screamed out again.
Ronnie Anne was doing everything to keeper herself from laughing. Even thought she was wearing a hug smile on her face. She felt vindicated about exposing the two for who they really were in her eyes it was justice.
Even the instructor who personally invited the two women was shocked to find out that they were two of the sister of the young boy whose parents kicked out of the house that made headlines ten years earlier. Even he read into the whole "State of Michigan vs. Loud." Trial and didn't suspect the two girls who were taken from the prostitute were in fact the same daughters of the parents who are now serving life sentences for kicking their only son out of the house. Yes he knew their last name's were Loud but he simply thought of that as a coincident. Lots of people who are not biologically related have the same last name.
"Excuse me girls. I think I may call you back for a very different class and a very different lesson." The instructor explained. Then he looked to all the cadets and stated. "Class Dismiss."
After the class Leni and Lola walked down to the cafeteria were the two were met by a very familiar woman. "Hello Girl's." She said with a smile. It was Ronnie Anne and Leni and Lola quickly caught on to that. The two girls stepped back out of fear.
"Ronnie Anne what are you doing here?" Leni asked in an uneasy tone.
"I've decided to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. I haven't seen you since the trial on which your brother was at." Ronnie Anne said
"What do you want?" Lola asked with a hint of distress.
Ronnie Anne could see the distress in Lola's tone. She knew it's been ten years since the whole "Bad Luck" Incident and even though they weren't as harsh as Lynn Jr. or the parents, Leni and Lola still mistreated Lincoln on their behalf and felt guilty for their part in what happened. She felt that talking about the whole incident again would be unnecessary at the best or cruel at the worst.
"I just want to see how you two are doing. It's been a while since we last seen each other." Ronnie Anne said
"Or we're doing alright now. We were abducted by that one prostitute Thicc Q.T. but after the police found us we were sent to live with the Honeycutt's on their farm." Leni explained
"Why would you want be concern about us? Ronnie Anne?" Lola asked with suspicion.
"Well you do know how close I was with your brother Lincoln?" Ronnie Anne said.
"Yes." Leni said
"Are you working any jobs at the moment?" Ronnie Anne asked
"Nope, I'm still living on the farm and Lola will be graduating from high school next year." Leni explained
"Why do you ask?" Lola asked
Ronnie Anne smiled and said. "My cousin Carlota runs a fashion boutique at the mall. She may have some openings for you."
Both Leni and Lola were caught off guard. At first Lola was afraid that Ronnie Anne was going to target them for what they did to their brother her best friend. But they were surprised that she was helping them by offered them job opportunities. Leni was overly excited.
"EEEE! Does this mean I'll be working at the mall!" Leni asked with excitement.
"Yes! I'll get in touch with Carlota and set up interviews for both of you." Ronnie Anne asked
Within minutes Ronnie Anne called up Carlota and got Leni and Lola interviews. A short while and an application later. The two sister were working in the boutique at Royal Woods Mall.
Present Day…
Royal Woods Mall was a fairly big Mall with a lot of stores and a lot of customers. One of the biggest shops in the mall was "Carlota's" owned, ran and operated by Ronnie Anne's cousin Carlota Casagrande. This shop had two floors and six employees three to a floor. The bottom floor was worked by Leni Loud and her two friends Miguel and Fiona. The second floor was worked by Leni's two other friends Jackie and Mandy and her sister Lola.
Leni was at work dressing a mannequin at the shop window. As she was working Fiona and Miguel came up behind her.
"Hey Leni nice window dressing!" Fiona commented.
"Thanks! I've molded them after us!" Leni explained.
"Shifts almost over do you want to go get some pretzels?" Miguel asked
"Sure thing, I'll be done in a sec." Leni said
Meanwhile on the second floor of the store. Lola was working the counter of a perfume display case. As she was working the display case Jackie and Mandy walked up to her.
"Hey Lola how's it going?" Jackie asked
"Oh great! I've just finishing up this display case." Lola said.
"Our break is in a few minutes do you want to go to the food court?" Mandy asked.
As all of this was going on in the mall meanwhile in the mall's parking lot two vehicles one a police cruiser and the other a rented car parked alongside each other. Ronnie Anne stepped out of her cruiser and Lincoln with his two sisters Luna and Lynn came out of his car. Ronnie Anne already explained the entire story involving Leni and Lola to the three and they were now more than ever ready to meet with them.
"So your cousin Carlota runs the store in the mall, and Leni and Lola work for her?" Lincoln asked
"Yep, I lead you both to the shop and see if we can get a word in with her." Ronnie Anne said.
The four walked into the mall and made their way to "Carlota's" there Ronnie Anne went into the manager's office where her cousin worked. After a brief talk with her cousin she called the other three in.
Carlota's eyes opened wide. She looked at Lincoln and said "So you're the young boy who was kicked out of his own house by his parents.". Then she looked at Lynn and said. "And you're the sister who use to beat and abuse him."
Lynn lowered her head in shame. Just like everyone ells in the state of Michigan Carlota knew everything about the Whole "State of Michigan vs. Loud" case.
"Look, the whole trial happened twenty years ago. I've already forgave her for all that has happened." Lincoln said
"Well I suppose your right, I mean you two are standing in the same room right now." Carlota said
"So um, Your cousin said two of our sisters work for you are they still here?" Luna asked
"Yes, as a matter of fact I'll call them up right now." Carlota said
Meanwhile back at the food court. Leni, Lola, Miguel, Fiona, Jackie, and Mandy were all sitting at the same table drinking smoothies and eating burgers and pretzels. Until a text came on Leni and Lola's phone. It was from their employer.
The text read. (Leni Lola come back to my office NOW!)
"I wonder what this is about?" Leni asked
"Let me see that?" Miguel asked
After shoeing the text to everyone even Miguel, Fiona, Jackie and Mandy were curious about it.
"Why would she want to see you two in person?" Jackie asked
"Maybe it has something to do with prostitutes? Leni Lola didn't you two say that you were abducted by a prostitute in the past?" Fiona asked
This made both Leni and Lola very uneasy. "We were victims of a scam! She posed as our mother so she could get support checks from the Government!" Lola explained
While Fiona, Miguel, Jackie, and Mandy all knew that the two sisters were adopted they still had their suspicions about them. Who was their family before the adoption? Why were they adopted? The thought of them being related to the family in the while "State of Michigan vs Loud!" never entered their minds. Like the Police Academy Instructor before them they only assumed it was a coincident that they had the same last name of Loud.
"We'll come with you just to see what she wants." Miguel said
As the six walked back to "Carlota's" to see what their employer wanted to see them about. As soon as the six entered Carlota's office they saw a police officer standing right behind her desk, and three individuals sitting off to the side.
Leni quickly noticed Lincoln's white hair and asked. "Lincoln! Is That You?"
Lola jumped back with a "GASP!" and placed her hand over her mouth.
Lincoln stood up smiled and said. "Yes Leni, It's me!"
At that moment Lola ran out of the office and went straight for the back room.
"Lola! Where are you going? Come Back!" Jackie called out.
Jackie and Mandy ran after Lola as Leni Miguel and Fiona stayed in Carlota's office and talked with Lincoln.
"Lincoln I haven't seen you in years!" Leni said with excitement.
"Twenty years since the trial." Lincoln said
"Trial?" Fiona asked
Lincoln turned his attention to Fiona and asked. "Tell me, do you remember the case of "The State of Michigan vs. Loud"?"
As Lincoln was about to explained the whole story to Miguel and Fiona meanwhile back in the back room were Lola ran off to Jackie and Mandy found her. She was curled up in a ball crying in the corner.
"Lola What's Wrong?" Jackie asked.
"Have…Have you ever heard of the case of…"The State Of Michigan vs. Loud"?" Lola asked
"You mean that court case of that poor boy who was kicked out of his own house by his parents and forced to live on the streets?" Mandy asked
"I've heard his sisters use to beat and abuse him." Jackie said
Lola then looked up with tears running down her face. "And I'm one of them." She said
Both Jackie and Mandy stepped back as if their coworker for the past ten years just confessed to a murder. Lola looked at them with tears pouring down her face and she said. "He was my brother, his name is Lincoln. And he was the man with white hair sitting in Carlota's office right now." Lola explained as more tears ran down her face. "He's probably here to yell at me. Yell at me say what a horrible sister I am and I won't blame him, I won't blame him." Lola continued as she wept.
Both Jackie and Mandy had mixed feelings for Lola. Even though she confessed to her part in the trial she was clearly showing guilt, regret and remorse for her part in it.
"He has a right to hate me, after what I did to him." Lola said as she continued crying.
Meanwhile back in Carlota's office Lincoln explained everything Leni and her friends. He explained how Lynn came to his house in crying and begging for his forgiveness. Leni also explained how she and Lola were taken by Thicc Q.T. for her own purposes and how they were almost raised by a prostitutes who only adopted them for stimulus checks from the government. Lincoln did feel sorry for Leni and Lola for what almost happened to them.
"So Leni after you were rescued by the police were did you and Lola go?" Lincoln asked
"We were adopted by the Honeycutt's they live on a farm in rural Michigan." Leni said.
"The Honeycutt's I know their son Liam, next to Clyde he was one of my best friends." Lincoln said'
"Leni I had no idea your brother was the young boy who was abused and kicked out by his own family?" Fiona said
"It's alright Fiona Leni's always kind and misunderstood. She was not responsible for anything Lynn and my parents did to me twenty years ago." Lincoln said
"By the way what happened to Lola?" Lynn asked
Meanwhile in the back room of the store. Lola still in tears was now being comforted by Jackie and Mandy. At that moment Lincoln walked into the back room.
"Lola?" Lincoln asked
Lincoln then saw his little sister, tears were runny down her face and he could tell that she was crying.
"Lincoln…I…know you probably hate me and you have every right to hate me." Lola said as she was about to cry a new set of tears.
Lincoln could tell that she still felt guilty even after twenty years for what has happened. Still showing the heart of a big brother Lincoln walked up to Lola wrapped his arms around her pulling her into a hug. "It's going to be alright Lola. It's going to be alright." Lincoln said as he embraced his little sister allowing her to cry in his arms. Jackie and Mandy stood in amazement. How the one boy who was mistreated by his sisters over twenty years ago. Now forgiving them and reconciling with them.
After Lola calmed down the rest of that visit went on just like any normal family visit. Leni and Lola were overjoyed to hear that Lincoln was married and had three sons.
"So I guess that makes us Aunts then." Lola said
"Ant! Ant! Ewe Were…Were are the Ants!" Leni said panicking looking around.
"No Leni, You and Lola are Aunt's." Lincoln tried to explained
"YOU MEAN WE'VE TURED INTO ANTS!?" Leni asked in panic
"Not Ant's Aunt's it means we have Nephews." Lola said trying to calm Leni down. Even though Leni was creeped out over ants in the mall Lincoln was still glad to see that the years apart did not changer her personality. It was this characteristic that Lincoln came to know and love about her.
As the visit was going on Ronnie Anne and Carlota were together in Carlota's office.
"Ronnie Anne do you think we should tell Lincoln about…" Carlota began to asked until Ronnie Anne cut her off.
"No I don't think its necessary." She said
Shortly after saying this Lincoln walked into Carlota's office with Luna and Lynn stood before the two and asked. "Look not to sound ungrateful in anyway but I need to ask. Why did you help my sister out?"
At that moment Carlota Looked at Ronnie Anne and Ronnie Anne looked at Carlota then Ronnie Anne said. "Lincoln we have a confession to make."
A/N Sorry to leave on another cliffhanger. The next chapter is going to focus on a backstory involving "The Casagrande's". This backstory will explained why Ronnie Anne took a career in law enforcement.
