Hey guys, guess who's back? I know, I know, it's been a while. Sorry. But I have this quick chapter to publish now and the next chapter is 3/4ths done so I will have the next update pretty soon. After that no promises on how quickly I'll update but I am determined to finish this story!

Puck, Mustardseed, and the Grimms all stood in the lobby of the Golden Egg. It was late and the crowd was thinning. A few regulars at the bar, a group of fairy godparents at a table, and a few faries and talking animals in the corners casting shifty glances at the Grimms.

Mustardseed faced the group "It's been a long day and we have a good lead. You can all retire to your rooms, get some rest. We'll start in the morning."

They all walked through the back of the Golden Egg and into the palace [AN is it cannon that the palace is in the golden egg or did I just read that in someone's fanfics? Ahhh if I've stolen this from an author other than Buckley let me know!]

They all walked through the back of the Golden Egg and into the palace. They were faced with a long hall with many doors and stairways leading to all the various rooms of the sprawling mansion.

"Puck," said Mustardseed "Will you show the Grimms to their rooms, I have paperwork to do."

Puck stuck out his tongue but otherwise obliged.

He led them down the hall, up a set of stairs, through a door, down a different hall and finally to their rooms - two sets of Jack and Jill rooms.

They dropped off Henry and Veronica in theirs which connected to the bathroom they would share with Basils room. And then a little bit down the hall was Daphne's room, which would share a bathroom with Sabrina's.

Daphne opened the door to her room, turned to face her sister and said "Dibs on the shower!" and before Sabrina could protest she closed the door.

And then there were two.

Puck and Sabrina walked the few feet to her door in silence. It had been a long time since the two of them had been alone.

They'd actually been alone in this exact hall before…

A few years ago Sabrina had been in Faerie to help with a theft problem. Some important potions had been stolen so Sabrina was on the case. And besides she had become friends with Mustardseed and yes, friend with Puck too, during that first year she'd moved to Manhattan.

She had stayed late on a stakeout, eager for the excitement of catching a thief in the act had joined her. She'd actually managed to convince him to stay quiet lest they alert the thief to their presence, and then Puck wouldn't be able to attack, she told him. So they sat in a dark corner, sharing some trail mix, sitting in silence. They were careful not to touch each other. Even making sure the other wasn't reaching for more trail mix in case they'd accidentally brush hands. Sabrina had actually liked it. It was a comfortable quiet. She and Puck were only 18 years old at the time but he'd grown up. Yeah, she was sure when the thief did show he'd be absolutely ridiculous and he probably did have some sticky prank up his sleeve, he was still the trickster king after all. But she noticed fondly that he could be serious when he needed to, and it looked good on him.

As 1am rolled around and still nothing had happened no sign of the thief, they handed over the watch to another fairy, a trusted member of the royal's security team named Elvina. Sabrina was intending on catching a train or taxi back to her place but Puck informed her "Uh, we have like, a thousand rooms here you know?" And she admitted that it would be better to stay in the palace.

Sabrina had come to visit Faerie lots around that time, but hadn't stayed the night.

So he'd shown her to one of the guest rooms designed for human guests.

He walked in with her.

"The door to the bathroom gets stuck" he jiggled the handle and heaved the door open with his shoulder to prove it. "There ya go."

Sabrina laughed "You're a magic fairy prince. You can't afford to fix the doors?"

"Fairy King", Puck corrected, "And I've actually designed slight inconveniences into all of the guest rooms thank you very much."

"Of course you did." she said, rolling her eyes.

They walked back to the bedroom door, Puck leaned against the doorframe and Sabrina stood next to him.

They had spent the whole stakeout close to each other but now it seemed…different.

"Well, goodnight" Puck said.

"Goodnight" Sabrina replied.

Neither of them moved.

She had to consciously control her breathing. When did he start smelling good? He was standing so close, but oh, nothing good happens after 1am.

He leaned forward ever so slightly, testing the waters. She looked up at him and he leaned forward more, his mouth inching closer to hers.

Right as their lips touched, years of childhood anger and insecurity hit her and she pulled back.

Sabrina turned her head away and stared at the ground.

"I-" she started but she couldn't get anything else now. Even looking back on it she was never sure what she would've said.

"Okay." Puck said, defeated. And he walked away.

The next day they solved the 'crime'. It had turned out to just be a new maid misplacing things. So Sabrina had come all this way for nothing it appeared.

After that she had suddenly become busy and spent less and less time in Faerie until she never came by at all. She swept herself up in studies, friends, and Bradley.

Now here they were. That was over two years ago, she'd moved on. But still…being back here.

She shook off the memory and came back to the present.

She grabbed at her necklace, the one from Bradley and reminded herself of her normal human life.

Puck pointed to the door "That's yours."

Sabrina opened the door and stepped inside. Before she could close the door Puck added "And by the way the bathroom door sticks. In case your tiny pea brain forgot."

She looked him in the eyes.

"I remember."

And slammed the door shut.

That's all for now, quick chapter I know, but like I said the next one will be up soon - like the next week or two soon. Did I review the formatting on this one before I copy and pasted it into the doc manager? No. Do you guys deserve something that has a little more quality control? Yeah, probably. But I hope you will overlook that and keep reading because I really do promise I'll keep writing.
