chapter 3

Elsewhere, in the shadows of a dark alley where three grunted as they were beaten mercilessly by a group of thugs that chuckled as they enjoyed thier work. "Hit him harder, dean. He didnt grunt loud enough." one instructed.

The battered man, glanced up to his attacker as he weakly and shakily knelt upon his battered knees and shaking hands, covered in warm blood. His blood. Glaring through one eye, his strongest whilst his other eye was terribly bruised and swollen. Seeing the handle of the black handgun risen high and held for a few seconds then suddenly instead of driven to meet his face. A bright light had eluded in the alley which had scared off the attackers.

A samaritian approached him and said. "Hey mate, are you ok?" Shaking his head, with a raspy breathe before finally collapsing onconscious. "No, I am not ok."

One hour later, waking up in the hospital bed and looking around through his bandages and tried to sit up. Winced as he felt the pain running through his body. "Whoa man, you must rest. You are lucky to be alive." Jacob assured the patient.

"Where am I?" Jacob answered gently before the doctor walked in. "In the hospital. The name is Jacob castiel."

"Samuel." he answered. "Do you know who were those guys that left you in the alley?" jacob asked. Before Samuel could answer, the door opened and the doctor walked in. "Ok, how is the patient this evening?" he asked with a warm smile then resumed with another question as he noticed jacob standing by. "May I ask whom you may be, sir?"

"Jacob Castiel. Detective Jacob Castiel." he answered, introducing himself as superior officer of the law. The doctor responded quickly. "Oh? My apologies, I didnt know whom you were detective as I dont recognise you." Doctor Isiah dallas informed.

"That is fine doctor, I happened to be at the right place and the right time which happens to be my night off." The doctor immeidately agreed and stated, complimentarily. "Luckily you were, as this young man wouldnt have made through the night."

Samuel laid in the bed, still weak and badly bruised from the attack he had endured. His head suffered terrible from skull throbbing pain, as the talking suddenly felt it were jackhammering in his head. Placing a hand over the throbbing spasms, closed his eyes and requested for silence. "Please be silent, my head is thumping bad."

"Of course." the doctor answered and quietly requested the detective to walk with him out of the room where they resumed thier conversation about the events as they assumed to have occured. Soon had closed the door after themselves, Doctor Dallas explained with suspicion.

"I think, this was no ordinary mugging." Detective Castiel glared, with raised somewhat confused but suspicious brow. "How do you figure?" He asked.

The doctor sighed, held levelled view for detective castiel to read the reports discovered. "What is this, doc?" detective astiel asked.

"This is the blood work recently tested and came back." Handing the clipboard to the detective and watched vigilantly as he flipped through the pages quickly. "Send me the copies of the results and list of exactly what is in his blood, asap." he requested. The doctor agreed.

Remained standing by the patients door as he watched the detective leave, walking through the busy hospital corridor and turned to face the holder as he placed the clipboard up when a nurse called for him to assist with a expectant birth delivery. The doctor hurried down the corridor toward the ER with the nurse when a man had stepped around the nurses desk, turned slightly to his left and witnessed doctor Dallas disappear. This gave enough time for the masked visitor to enter the room, unnoticed and unsuspectedly aware.

Taking the clipboard, reading them over quickly and entered the room. Closing the door and locking it as he entered inside. Keeping his back to the victim, and closed the blinds. Samuel winced alittle and looked over to the blindside of the visitor, standing by the door as he kept his face hidden.

"Who are you?" samuel asked, worried. No answered was replied. Samuel quickly reached for the nurses button and grunted as he tried to fight for the device. It was ripped from his grasp and reach. Physically weak and unable to fight back, lost the battle and his life was taken. Stolen.

Samuel was smothered and the pillow was placed back in place as nothing had been disturbed. Picking up the nurses button, placing it place of reach and retrieved the clipboard once again then unlocked the door, exited and closed the door behind him.

Walking down the busy hospital corridor, disappearing as he used the coverage of the crowd to hide away his tracks.

Meanwhile, NYPD. Detective Castiel removed his long coat and hung over the chair as he entered his office and sat down by the desk. Reading and observed the evidence of mysterious murders, information found and shared by annoymonous sources. Yet, couldn't find any suspects to bring in for questioning and bring those responsible to justice.

Leaning back in his chair, sighed and tapped the edge of his pen on the desk surface. "Where are you? Who are you? What are you? Are you criminals or vigilantes? Who else is involved in this entire mess?"

The door opened and officer saunders walked in. "What is it, saunders?" Detective Castiel groaned. "Doughnuts and coffee?" Detective Castiel glanced at first confused, tilting his head slightly alittle to the left when officer saunders continued. "Double espresso? Just as you had requested sir." Placing the coffee and doughnuts down on the desk. Detective castiel sighed and apologised.

"I'm sorry, saunders. Been almost four years since these mysterious murders and mysterious information brought to my desk and not one, responsible brought to justice. Very tiring."

"All good sir, something tells me. The answers will finally be realised." Officer saunders assured, leaving the office peacefully and closed the door behind him. Detective castiel reached and grabbed his espresso, taking a sip slowly then grabbed the first maple doughnut and bitten into it.

Spread the photographs out once more and read the reports. "I will find you, your time has come to end. Justice will be served. Finally be served. There is no way or anywhere you can hide."

Ok, I know it has been a long wait for this chapter and following chapter that will be written shortly and posted soon. Had a real pain that kicked my butt on the last one for the longest time ever. Finally, leonardo's angel is out of the way and this is finally underway. Wonder who is the villain of this story? Well, if I spill the beans or count my chickens before they hatch. But then, that is what we would expect of mikey to do when he likes to interrupt.

Thankfully for once I am able to write without mikey sneaking in. onwards to the folllowing chapter.
