Welcome Back!!

I hope you all are doing well and are excited for this chapter! It has been a few months since my last update, but I'm back! I had other fanfics on my mind distracting me so I had to write those before getting back to this story.

Big thanks to WildKat25 for helping me with this story! I hope you enjoy this chapter! I don't own Trolls, but Rose is my OC. The song used in this chapter is Invisible by Hunter Hayes.

Branch had been staring at the ceiling for a while. He wasn't sure what time it was, but he knew it was early. He glanced over to see Poppy and Rose still asleep. He slowly got up, doing his best not to disturb them and headed to the kitchen. He yawned as he turned on his coffee maker and sat on the couch. When he heard the coffee maker finish he went and poured himself a cup of hot coffee. He sat back down on the couch and sipped his coffee, listening to the silence around him. He closed his eyes as he relaxed, but he knew it wouldn't last long. Branch opened his eyes as he heard small footsteps quickly coming from the bedroom. He leaned forward to see Rose frantically looking from. "Hey Rose." He said softly, getting her attention. Rose quickly ran over to him and hugged his leg tightly. "Hey, what's wrong?" He bent down to pick her up. Rose quickly latched onto Branch when he picked her up, burying her face into his shoulder. She sobbed as she gripped onto him tighter. Branch placed a hand on her back to help sooth her. They stayed like that for a half hour until Poppy came out of the room.

"Branch?" Poppy called quietly as she looked around. She saw his hair move as she walked towards him, seeing Rose gripping his shirt tightly. "Is something wrong? Is It her nightmares?" Poppy asked as she sat next to him.

"I'm not sure, she came running to me and hasn't stopped crying. Normally she stops crying after a few minutes. This time is different." He explained. "It may just be a bad day."

Poppy frowned at the news, listening to Rose sob for a moment. "Well, since your hands are full, I'll cook us breakfast." Poppy stood up and walked to the kitchen to get started. Branch watched before looking down at Rose, feeling her tears soaking through his shirt. He waited on the couch for a while until Poppy came back to let them know breakfast was ready. Branch walked over to the table and placed Rose in her normal spot next to him, seeing her eyes red from crying. "Here Rose, you liked these last time." She placed a fruit crepe in front of her. Poppy watched as Rose picked at her food before she looked at Branch. "I have a few things to do around the village. Are you two going anywhere today?"

Branch looked at her. "Rose and I are supposed to meet with Delta and Clamper's at the park around noon. Are you excited to see Clamper's?" He asked Rose, seeing her look up at him before nodding slowly. "We will have a few hours before we have to go, and if you don't want to go we don't have to," Branch assured her before he continued to talk to Poppy about the day's plans.

After they finished eating Poppy looked at Rose. "Hey Rose. I'm going to head out now, but I'll stop by later when you two are at the park." She gently ruffled Rose's hair before heading to the elevator. Poppy glanced back to see Rose waving before her attention went back to Branch.

Branch looked down at Rose, seeing her staring up at him. "What?" He asked before she hugged his leg tightly. "Why don't we get ready to go? We can pack some food and have a picnic if you want." He suggested, slowly going to the kitchen to make sure she didn't let go of his leg. He carefully cut some fruit and other snacks for them to take as he kept an eye on Rose. After he finished getting prepared he looked at the time. "We can head out now. We may be early, but we can find a good spot at the park to sit down." He lifted the backpack full of supplies onto his back and picked Rose up into his arms. "Ready?" He saw her sheepishly nod before he made his way to the surface.

As the park came into view Branch placed Rose on the ground. "Do you want to go play at the park as we wait for Clamper's and Delta to arrive?" He noticed Rose's hesitation as the sounds of children playing grew louder. "Look, the swing set is empty. Do you want to go on the swings?" He asked more enthusiastically. He saw her nod and take a step towards the swings, looking back at Branch to make sure he was following her. Branch set their bag down on an empty bench and followed Rose to the swings. Branch glanced around the playground to see a few of the kids watching Rose as she got to the swing set. He helped Rose onto the swing and stood behind her, gently pushing her forward. Rose kicked her legs as she swung back and forth, looking around to see the other kids playing together.

Her ears dropping did not go unnoticed by Branch. "Clampers should be here soon." He tried to assure her. Branch thought for a moment before he started humming softly. Rose perked up when she heard Branch hum. She turned her head when he started singing quietly.

"Crowded hallways are the loneliest places

For outcasts and rebels

Or anyone who just dares to be different

And you've been trying for so long

To find out where your place is

But in their narrow minds

There's no room for anyone who dares to do something different

Oh, but listen for a minute"

Branch moved around the swing set so he was in front of her before continuing.

"Trust the one

Who's been where you are wishing all it was

Was sticks and stones

Those words cut deep but they don't mean you're all alone

And you're not invisible

Hear me out

There's so much more to life than what you're feeling now

Someday you'll look back on all these days

And all this pain is gonna be invisible

Oh invisible

So your confidence is quiet

To them quiet looks like weakness

But you don't have to fight it

'Cause you're strong enough to win without a war, yeah

Every heart has a rhythm

Let yours beat out so loudly

That everyone can hear it

Yeah promise you don't need to hide it anymore

Oh and never be afraid of doing something different

Dare to be something more"

Branch jumped slightly when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see Poppy and Delta standing behind him. "Keep going." Poppy encouraged, nodding her head back to reveal that the whole park was listening to his song. Branch looked back to see Rose getting off the swing with the help of Clampers.

"Trust the one

Who's been where you are wishing all it was

Was sticks and stones

Yeah the words cut deep but they don't mean you're all alone

And you're not invisible

Hear me out

There's so much more of this life than what you're feeling now

And someday you'll look back on all these days

And all this pain is gonna be invisible

These labels that they give you is just 'cause they don't understand

If you look past this moment

You'll see you've got a friend

Waving a flag for who you are

And all you're gonna do

Yeah so here's to you

And here's to anyone who's ever felt invisible

And your not invisible

Hear me out, there's so much more to life than what you're feeling now

And someday you'll look back on all these days

And all this pain is gonna be invisible

It'll be invisible"

As he finished he looked down to see Rose hugging his leg. "Why don't you go play with Clampers?" He smiled at her when she looked up at him before watching her follow after Clampers.

"Hey." Poppy spoke, causing him to turn to her. "Rose looks like she is doing better now."

Branch nodded. "She is excited to see Clampers.

"I think it was that song that cheered her up." Delta smiled. "It was quite country for a pop troll." She chuckled.

Branch rubbed the back of his neck. "I thought I'd try something new. When did you get back?" He asked

"Not long ago. We ran into Poppy on the way here. She said Rose was having an off day and wasn't sure if you two made it."

"I wanted to make sure you two got here. I have some things I still have to take care of so I have to run." Poppy kissed Branch's cheek before waving at Delta. "See you later." She said before jogging off.

Branch looked over at Rose and Clampers to see Rose showing her arm with no cast. "So, how was the trip?"

"It was okay. Growley Pete has been doing a good job at looking over the trolls in Lonesome Flats. Jack on the other hand wasn't happy about the situation. He whined about everything. He whined so much I could have filled barrels to let age and use at the next festival." She heard Branch chuckle. "Once he realized no one would take anything he said seriously, he quieted down. He is neighbours with Silent Sam after all, he is the most non-reactive and patient troll in the Flats. The best babysitter there is. Anyway, how have you and Rose been? Poppy sounded worried when she told me Rose was having an off day."

Branch looking over at the two kids playing on the slide. "She had a good weekend with getting her cast off. We had dinner with Quincy and Essence which she seemed to like. This morning when she got up she never left my side."

"She really likes you. Both you and Poppy have taken a liking to her as well. Have you two considered taking on the parenting role permanently?" She asked.

Branch was quiet for a moment. "I don't think I…"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence." Delta warned.

Branch quickly closed his mouth and took a moment to think of what to say next. "I don't like to think about it much in case I get attached and something happens." He said carefully.

Delta smiled softly at him. "So you have thought about it?" She saw him nod slightly. "The whole point of being a parent is to get attached and be there for the child. If you keep yourself at arms length you might miss something great."

Branch stared at her before smiling. "I'll give it some thought." He said before hearing his name. He looked over to see Poppy running towards them. "Poppy? Is something wrong?" He quickly stood up.

Poppy panted as she stopped in front of him. "Doctor Moon wants to see us. It's important." She said as she caught her breath, looking up to see panic on Branch's face. "It's nothing bad." She quickly added. "She wants us to meet her alone as soon as possible."

"Without Rose?" He raised his eyebrow, before looking at Delta.

"I will watch her, you two go." She said as the children ran over to them when they saw Poppy.

"Hi again Miss Poppy!" Clampers chirped happily.

"Hi Clampers." Poppy smiled.

Branch knelt down in front of Rose. "Rose, Poppy and I have to go see Doctor Moon. We will be back soon." He explained. Rose frowned when she heard the news, hugging his leg tightly. Branch frowned as well. "We won't be long. You can stay here and play with Clampers, Delta will watch you until I come back." He placed a hand on her back to help sooth her.

"Let's go to the monkey bars!" Clampers said, trying to help.

Rose continued to frown, but pulled away slightly from Branch. "We will be back soon." He assured her as he stood up. He turned and started to follow Poppy to where Doctor Moon was meeting them. "So, why do we have to meet doctor Moon?" He asked.

Poppy was silent for a moment before looking at him. "Doctor Moon has found some trolls to adopt Rose."
