Weiss Schnee, Remnant of Ice General

Chapter 2 – The Girl with Silver Eyes

Roman Torchwick was walking through the streets of Vale surrounded by six other men, dressed in black suits and red ties that he hired from Junior. He would brought his own man, but after his new "boss" used few of them as a barbecue practice he was a little short on manpower.

He was walking towards a small Dust store. He knew the old man that owned the place and he was sure that he couldn't put up a fight even if he wanted. Despite this, with each step he took, his knees grew heavy, his palms were sweaty and there was a feeling of vomit in his throat. He was feeling nervous.

Roman had all the right to be, it wasn't everyday you try to stab your boss in the back, especially someone as powerful as Cinder Fall. He could still remember the first time he met the she-devil.

At first he thought that she was talking nonsense and send five of his goons to kick her out of his place, the next second five men were turned into burned corpses.

But that was in the past and now he had a chance to break of the leash she put around his neck. He just had to provide a distraction and lure her out.

That's why he chosed this specific Dust store, it was open till late at night, lowering the chance of hunters interfering, the cops around here were pretty dumb and the security of the shop was next to zero. All he had to do was play his role and tomorrow he would be a free man.

What he didn't account for was one little red reaper ruining his plans.

Ruby Rose, she was a young girl in her mid teens. She has silver eyes and black hair with wine-red tips. She was fairly short, but that didn't detract from her beauty and her short height only accentuated her generous curves.

Ruby was wearing black, long-sleeved blouse with red trims and "combat" skirt with matching colors, black stockings and black combat boots with red lances. She also had utility belt with several pouches and sniper-rounds on it.

To finish her looks she was wearing a long red cape with a red hood and a strange metal object strapped to her back.

Currently Ruby was reading a magazine inside of a store called "From Dust Till Dawn". If she didn't know any better she would think her sister came up with that name.

She turned to another page of the Dust magazine. Dust the magical mineral that gave humans power to control nature. Someone with enough experiences and control over Dust could easily disguise it for magic.

As a huntress in training Ruby knew about Dust more than average civilian, but unlike her sister, who graduated from Signal this year, Ruby herself would just be starting her third year, and dust and its practical applications were covered in third and fourth years of the combat school.

Despite wanting to learn as quickly as possible Ruby had to admit that giving what was an equivalent of hand grenade into hands of untrained children that could be triggered with a single pulse of their Aura would be asking for a disaster. Still she couldn't help herself but be excited about experimenting with Dust. Maybe she could start using Dust infused bullets, add a hard light edge to her weapon or maybe exchange the blade for a fire infused one. Fighting the Grimm with her darling Crescent Rose on fire would be so cool!

The combination of reading the magazine, listening to her favorite song on her headphones and being lost in her own thoughts made Ruby completely unaware of the robbery that was going on behind her.

Roman Torchwick was pointing his cane at the old shopkeeper, while his goons collected the Dust. He looked at his watch, it was almost time. He just had to make sure everything would go according to the plan.

"Hey, who's there?" One of the goons shouted and Roman prayed to gods that whoever was back there wouldn't throw a wrench into his plans.

At the back of the shop the goon noticed a girl standing there reading her magazine.

"Put your hands in the air!" He shouted but he received no answer. He walked to her and pulled her red hood down revealing a pair of headphones. The girl looked at him questioningly and he pointed at his ears. Ruby understood the message and pulled her headphones down. The first words she heard were: "Put your hands in the air!"

"...what?" Ruby asked, confusion written on her face.

"I said: put your hands in the air! Stupid kid." He repeated again.

'Wait, this almost looks like...' Just now Ruby noticed the gun he was pointing at her head.

"Are you robbing me?" Asked Ruby, her eyes looking the goon up and down.

"Yes!" He shouted, already getting infuriated.

"oohhh" Ruby exclaimed before she kicked the mobster with such a force that he shattered a window that was behind him.

"What the hell was that?" Another of the men shouted. He rushed to the alley where Ruby was still standing he aimed her gun at her, but before he could fire Ruby turned into a cloud of rose petals and slammed into the mobster tackling him through the broken window.

Ruby got back on her feet and saw four more mobsters dressed in those black suits looking at her. She reached for the metal box behind her back. With a press of single button the box shifted and expanded until it took a form of a giant red scythe. She spun the weapon threateningly before slamming the tip of the blade into the ground. Lastly Ruby reached for her headphones and turned the music off.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Get her." A fifth one commanded, this one was dressed in a white rain coat and bowler hat. They hesitated for a second before unsheathing their red machetes and charged her.

Ruby didn't know where these guys were trained but she seriously doubted it was one of the combat academies. The first one of them to get to her raised his sword intending to cut her in two. When ruby saw him she almost laughed. The vertical swing was slow and telegraph and Ruby had no problem sidestepping it. She swept his legs with her scythe and before he could even hit the ground she slammed the blunt side of her weapons into his side. The mobster slammed into a tree and dropped to the ground unconscious.

The second and third one tried attacking together, but they were getting more into each other's way than anything else. She ducked under one of their attacks and slashed at the goons back, managing to break the aura of one of them. Before she could finish the third one she heard the click of a gun. When she turned around she noticed the fourth mobster managed to remove the safety catch and was now aiming his gun at her. He fired several rounds at her, but Ruby simply deflected each shot with her weapon. She spun Crescent Rose and pointed the end of her weapon at him and pulled a trigger located on the weapon's shaft. A loud boom echoed in the streets of Vale as a 50 caliber sniper round slammed into the goon's stomach and sent him back into the Dust shop.

Ruby heard shuffling of feet behind her and noticed the third mobster got back to his feet and was now charging at her. Reacting quickly Ruby spun around her weapon, avoiding his attack while simultaneously delivering a dropkick to the criminal's face.

He landed on the ground near Roman Torchwick. He looked around only to see the six men he hired were already on the ground and none of them had any intention of getting to their feet any time soon.

"You guys were worth every cent, truly." Roman looked relaxed, but the truth was he was sweating bullets. 'This wasn't supposed to happen!' He looked at his watch only to see he still needed more time. 'Well, it doesn't matter, all I need to do is take care of little red here and I will be right back on schedule.'

As if on cue he heard police sirens few blocks over. 'Great, the old man must have hit the silent alarm while my men were busy getting their asses handed to them by little girl. Now the plan has gone completely to shit.'

"You should surrender." Ruby called out to the criminal while readying her weapon.

"Interesting proposal, but I have a counter offer." Said the thief, before pointing his cane at her. The bottom of the weapon flipped revealing crosshair iron sight. Roman pulled the trigger and red flare shot out of his weapon.

Reacting quickly Ruby managed to avoid the attack by jumping in the air just in the nick of time as the spot she's been standing on was set afire. When she looked around she noticed Roman jumped on a ladder. She wasn't about to let him get away that easily.

After making sure the shopkeeper was alright she set out to pursue Torchwick. She found him on one of the rooftops. She was about to rush him, but was stopped when she saw a flying VTOL cargo ship land behind him. A Bullhead, Ruby always wondered why they named it like that; it looks nothing like a bull's head. She shook her head, now wasn't the time to ponder on a name of an airship, now was a time to be a hero.

Roman stepped into the bullhead and pulled a red, fire-dust crystal out of his pocket. "Little Red, you will remember this as the day you almost caught the greatest thief in Vale, Roman Torchwick." With those words he threw the crystal on the ground then fired at it. Roman laughed as it looked like the explosion killed his pursuer, but his laughed died down the moment he saw her unharmed and the barrier that protected her, a single white glyph.

His blood turned to ice as he spotted the white haired girl at the edge of the rooftop, dressed in her military uniform as always. If looks could kill Roman would already be six feet under. It was obvious she was angry and she had a good reason, he did just kind of ruin their plan. It was equally obvious to him Weiss wanted to kill Cinder Fall today and if she killed him as well she wouldn't be losing any sleep over it.

"We're in trouble, big trouble!" Roman shouted at his boss/getaway pilot. The black haired woman just grunted and stood up from her piloting seat. She scoffed when she saw the 'big trouble'.

'What could a pair of girls do to actually-' Her thoughts were cut short when the glyph turned burning red and a torrent of flames shot towards the bullhead. At the last second Cinder raised her hand and managed to absorb the fire with her magic.

Ruby stared in awe at the display, something Weiss didn't appreciate. "Are you going to shoot her or are you planning to set her on fire with your eyes?!" She shouted at Ruby, that prompted her into action and Crescent Rose shifted from the scythe mode into a rifle mod, giving it more accuracy and less recoil.

Cinder managed to block all of her bullets but she wasn't ready for what came next. Weiss concentrated and a large yellow glyph appeared above the bullhead. Soon enough lighting started to rain down on the bullhead. Most aircrafts could take a lightning bolt or two, but when several of them strike at the same time something was bound to break. Soon enough the left turbine exploded. For a few seconds it looked like the bullhead would fall down but Roman managed to balance the aircraft with the one engine that remained.

Now, Cinder was angry. Flames appeared around her right eye and she raised her right hand towards the two girls and launched a fireball at them. The fireball had the energy she absorbed from Weiss's attack and she added some of her own fire to it for good measure. If it managed to hit them both would be incinerated on the spot.

Weiss didn't feel like being turned into a charcoal and summoned five glyphs to stop the fireball. It quickly melted the first, second and third. Weiss focused and poured more of her Aura into the two last two glyphs. Despite that the fourth one shattered like glass. Weiss gritted her teeth and concentrated on the last glyph, further reinforcing it with Aura.

Cinder watched the girl struggle with a sadistic smile on her face, but that look soon turned into anger when she saw the last glyph managed to hold and stopped her attack. She scoffed but at the very least she took comfort that they managed to escape them.

Wrong

Weiss, now even more furious then before, spun the dust revolver on her sword until it stopped on the black colour. Gravity dust.

Black glyph appeared between them and the bullhead and begin to pull objects towards itself, including the airship as well as the two girls standing on the rooftop. Weiss stabbed her sword into the ground and used it to not be blown of the roof. Ruby reacted similarly and transformed her weapon into its scythe mode. She stabbed the blade into the rooftop and tightly held onto it.

Weiss noticed that the barrel of Ruby's weapon was pointed at the bullhead and got an idea. "Shoot at the right turbine!" She called out to the younger girl but Ruby was apprehensive.

"But if it falls down on the street it could hurt someone." Ruby said, but that only made Weiss even more furious.

"Just do it!" She ordered, the tone of her voice leaving no place for argument. So Ruby steadied herself and aimed at the bullhead. Maybe she was just exaggerating; Weiss had gravity Dust she was probably planning to stop the aircraft from crashing.

The truth was different. Weiss didn't care for the insignificant people down below. If they died, they were too weak to live. It was as simple as that.

The shots from Crescent Rose echoed through the streets as they impacted against the bullhead. Sparks started to fly from the right turbine and it looked like the aircraft was going down, Ruby just needed to land one more shot.

In desperation Cinder outstretch both of her arms. Fire may have been her favourite element, but it wasn't the only one she had control over. Lightning shot out of the palm of her hands and struck the two girls.

Ruby stayed on the ground, groaning from the electricity that travelled through her body. Weiss managed to get to her feet much faster, with her sword already in her hand. It didn't hurt her as much as it should, the only thing Cinder achieved was making Weiss lose control. Cinder's attack was like a taser compared to the great general's lightning.

With a newfound strength Weiss spun the dust revolver until it landed on her favourite type of dust. She poured every single drop of her Aura into her semblance and more than a hundred glyphs surrounded the bullhead. She was done playing games and she would end this charade with one single attack. Sharp icicles formed and launched from the glyphs with only one goal: to screw through the bullhead and its occupants.

Cinder eyes widen as she saw the amount of icicles pointed at her. There was only one thought on her mind: 'This girl is a monster.' Reacting quickly, she focused her magic in her body before letting it all out in one giant heatwave that incinerated Weiss's attack. Cinder fell to her knees from exhaustion but she couldn't stop here. In her eyes Weiss was too dangerous to be left alive, so she focused on the roof she was standing on and started to superheat it.

Weiss noticed what was going on but it was too late. She didn't have time to run away, she was out of Aura and Dust and the ground below her was about to explode any time. But she refused to die here so she made a split second decision.

Weiss closed her eyes and placed one of her hands on the ground and focused. She felt cold, freezing temperature leaking into her. She once again heard voices that demanded terrible things from her, but she did her best to ignore them for the time being. It felt like ice was invading her body. Normal people would shudder uncontrollably at the temperature. Weiss wasn't normal, that much she knew.

Weiss opened her eyes and let the freezing temperature out of her. In a flash the whole rooftop was encased in ice, preventing it from heating any further.

The bullhead was moving away again but she could still reach it. She has already gone this far, might as well bring the bullhead down with this power. But when she moved to stand upright a crippling pain shot through her head. It began at her forehead and ended at the very back of her head. It felt like someone gave her a lobotomy.

KILL, SLAUGHTER, MASSACRE!

It was unbearable, much worse than before. They echoed all around her, from inside of her brain and from the outside world.

'Enough!' Weiss commanded, but it didn't stop. The pain didn't stop. The voices didn't stop. The cold didn't stop. She wanted them to stop; she would do anything for it to stop.

Her breathing became ragged, like she just ran marathon. She grabbed her head, covered her ears and grit her teeth but it didn't help.

Then she heard a laugh, a woman's laugh, her voice was deeper than hers. It wasn't her own, but at the same time it was. She could feel herself going mad and that feeling frightened her more than anything else.

Ruby watched Weiss and didn't know what to do. She remembered the first aid lessons she learned at Signal but there wasn't even scratch on the white haired girl. The next thing she noticed was the freezing temperature that surrounded the girl.

"Are you alright?" Ruby called out to her.

Weiss slowly turned her head towards Ruby. Her facial features were hidden behind the cap; only two piercing blue orbs could be seen staring at her. 'This girl,' Weiss thought 'she must have been the one who ruined everything, she is the reason I'm feeling like this.'

In a second Ruby went from being confused and concerned to feeling afraid for her life. Shivers went down her spine and she wasn't sure that it was purely from the cold air. It was like her instincts were screaming at her to turn her tail and run.

'I should kill her for getting in the way of my plans.' The thought made its way into Weiss's mind. Maybe it would help silence the voices if she just do as they said.

'No, she isn't my enemy. We don't have to kill her.' Weiss reasoned with herself. She refused to submit to the voices, this was her life; this was her mind, her body. Not anyone else's.

'But she did get in the way of my plan, if not for her Cinder would be dead and we would go after the White Fang as we initially wanted.' That was true, killing her didn't sound so bad. The police would most likely blame her death on Roman.

Ruby was still watching Weiss. She was feeling torn between running away or staying to help the girl. But in the end Ruby shook her head and stepped closer to Weiss. Her good heart won over her instincts. She wanted to be a huntress, it wouldn't be right to leave a girl who needed help.

"Do you need help? Should I call an ambulance?" Ruby asked, getting closer to Weiss.

Weiss's grip on her sword tightened, she was making it far too easy. She looked up to see her eyes, and stopped when she saw something in them, concern. No one tried to help her when she got like this, even her sister would go as far away from her as possible. That 'thing' inside her had that effect on people, but not this girl. Weiss stared into her eyes and she swore she saw them shine brightly for a second and it wasn't just the moon's reflection.

The voices inside of her head grew quieter the more she looked at those shining silver orbs. The pain lessened as well, heat came back to her body and she felt her strength return.

'No, she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. If it was anyone's fault it was Roman's.' With that thought Weiss got back to her feet. Her grip on Myrtenaster loosened before she sheeted the blade.

"I don't need your help, I'm perfectly fine." Weiss told her. It wasn't complete lie. The voices and headache were still there, but they were …manageable.

Weiss turned around and started to walk towards the ladder, much to the confusion of the red reaper.

"Wait, where are you going?" Ruby asked.

"Away from here." Weiss responded. "I would suggest you do the same if you don't want to deal with the authorities." Gods knew she didn't want to after tonight.

"I'm afraid it's far too late for that young lady." Fate apparently had other plans.

If you asked Ruby what she was expecting to happen today, getting arrested wouldn't be on her list. Then again, fighting criminals wouldn't be exactly high on the list either. But here she was, sitting in a police interrogation room right after she stopped a dust robbery.

"Do you have any idea how many problems you have caused. You could have gotten killed, not to mention the amount of property damage." The huntress, Glynda Goodwitch if Ruby remembered correctly, was currently scolding them. Ruby was about to respond when her partner in crime beat her to it.

"The way I see it we were doing your job. Maybe if you were more concerned about catching the criminals instead of arresting us you would have made yourself actually useful today." Weiss replied seeing the whole thing nothing more than minor annoyance.

The difference between the two girls was like night and day. Where Ruby was nervous, Weiss was composed. Ruby was hunched over trying to make herself small as possible, while Weiss was sitting with her legs crossed and currently supporting her head with her arm in boredom.

"If it was up to me I would have you send straight back to Atlas, Miss Schnee." The huntress said with a stern expression that would make most people reconsider talking back to her. Weiss wasn't most people.

This situation actually made her miss her home country. The officers back in Atlas weren't stupid or brave enough to ever arrest her. Sure it was only thanks to her family name but at least she could go about her business without being bothered.

"But it's not up to you, so why don't you let us go instead of pointlessly wasting our time?" Weiss countered. Truth be told, she wanted to get out of here as fast as possible. She felt like she could snap at any moment and kill everyone at the station just to be done with this interrogation.

Glynda looked like she was about to snap herself. It was clear that she wasn't used to people talking back to her. But she managed to compose herself and looked Weiss strait in the eyes.

"You are still here because someone would like to talk to you." The huntress said and soon after the door to the interrogation room opened. In walked an older man one that Weiss immediately recognized.

He had grey-white hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black pants, black suit and dark green vest with a brighter green scarf around his neck. He was wearing a pair of shaded glass spectacles. He also carried a plate full of cookies.

"Ruby Rose." The man began looking closely at Ruby. "You have your mother's eyes."

"…You knew my mother?" Ruby asked after a moment of silence.

"Of course, she was one of the best students who graduated from Beacon Academy." He said with a soft smile on his face. "But after what I've seen today I can safely say that apple hadn't fallen far from the tree." With those words he put the plate before the two girls and Ruby wasted no time devouring the cookies.

He soon turned his attention towards Weiss. "And Weiss Schnee." He began. His eyes scanned her over. He felt as if there was something …wrong with the girl. He noticed that the more he concentrated the chillier it got in the room.

"I have to thank you for your quick action; if not for you I might have this conversation with Miss Rose in a hospital. Not many would put their own life in danger to help others." He dismissed his previous thoughts for later as he started a conversation with the white haired girl.

Weiss almost laughed when she heard that. "Miss Rose" could have burned to ashes for all she cared. She was there to kill Cinder and she failed spectacularly in that regard. But she wasn't about to correct Ozpin on that.

"You know me?" Weiss asked sitting up straight, a position that would let her take action quickly if it came to that.

"I make sure to look through the files of all applicants for Beacon and I must say yours were quite impressive. Expert swordsmanship, mastered the use of dust, complete control over your Aura and Semblance and great tactician not to mention you managed to graduate Atlas Primary one year early." He listed from the top of his head, but there was a hidden message in that statement that Weiss caught, he didn't fully believe what was written in her transcripts. She would enjoy proving him wrong.

Ozpin brought out his scroll, object that functions as a collapsible, holographic tablet. With a few buttons he played a video captured by the surveillance camera that showed Ruby and Weiss fighting the bullhead.

He hummed in thought before looking at the two girls. "You both have exceptional skill; they don't teach those things in combat academies. So where did you learned to fight like this."

"Maw unfhel toufhf my." The words coming out of Ruby's mouth were utterly unintelligible. Seeing the confused look on their faces Ruby swallowed mouthful of cookies before repeating herself. "Sorry. My uncle taught me."

"Ahh, a dusty old crow." Said Ozpin but Weiss wasn't listening to them.

Before her sat a young girl with black hair, unusual eye color and love for cookies, not to mention she was skilled in combat. The only thing missing was an older sister and the image would be complete.

Weiss shook her head. Thinking about that would only make the headache stronger and the voices louder.

Ozpin turned his head towards Weiss, most likely expecting an answer. But she just remained silent forcing Ozpin to make his own deduction. "I expect your sister taught you. She is an exceptional huntress; she even managed to win the Vytal tournament two times in a row."

That seemed to get a reaction out of Weiss. Her hands clenched into fists and a slight frown formed on her face. "Winter" Weiss said her sister's name like she was talking about the weather, without a hint of emotions. "She gave me a few pointers and taught me the basic about Aura, Dust and our Semblance. But after that I mostly taught myself." That wasn't entirely true; she needed to learn how to use her Aura and Semblance, how to manipulate dust. But she always knew how to fight.

Ozpin seemed to accept her answer. He once again looked between the two girls before giving them another question. "Why do you train to become warriors?"

Ruby was about to respond when this time Weiss beat her to it. "Do you ask these types of questions to everyone you interrogate or is it just us?" If Ozpin was surprised by her question he didn't let it show.

"I only question those that show potential." He responded cryptically.

In the end Weiss decided she would humor Ozpin, besides it would do her no good to antagonize him before the school year even starts. "Becoming huntress opens up a lot of job opportunities. It would be foolish to not take advantage of that." She could still become Atlesian specialist even if she graduates from Beacon. General Ironwood wouldn't let another useful "tool" to slip through his fingers.

Ozpin regarded her for couple of seconds before nodding and turning his attention to Ruby. Now with the attention on her Ruby felt a little bit nervous.

"I also want to become a huntress." She responded.

"You want to kill monsters?" Ozpin asked, tilting his head.

"Well, yes. My dad always taught me to help others when I can, so I thought: 'Why not make a career out of it.' Besides being a huntress is so cool and romantic. I would be fighting monsters, stopping evil villains, saving the world and going on adventures." Ruby was pretty much radiating excitement, but Weiss couldn't see her as nothing more than a foolish girl. Soon enough she will learn that the real world wasn't like fairytales.

Seeing to looks others were giving her Ruby calmed herself down, before she continued. "My sister is starting Beacon this year. I still have two years at Signal, and then I will also apply for Beacon. That's the plan at least."

Ozpin was looking at Ruby intensely for a few seconds before he gave her another question. "Miss Rose, do you know who I am?"

"You are professor Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon Academy." Ruby answered immediately.

"Tell me, would you like to attend my school?" He asked already knowing the answer.

"More than anything else in the world." Ruby responded without blinking an eye.

Ozpin turned his head towards Glynda, who was still standing in the back of the room. They seemed to have a silent conversation with their eyes before Glynda sighed and nodded her head.

"Consider it handled." Ozpin smiled before he stood up from his seat. But before he walked out of the room he turned his head towards the two girls. "Have a pleasant night and try to not get into any more fights."

Author's Note:

Hey guys sorry for the long wait, this summer has been pretty busy for me. On the plus site I have already written one chapter ahead so that should come out soon enough. I would also like to thank everyone who reviewed, liked and followed, your positive feedback made me want to write this story even more.

I'm not a fan of ANs so I think I will just write one big one at the end of each Volume.

That being said since some of you asked questions in the reviews so I decided to use this to answer some of them, as well as other things. Keep In mind that I won't spoiler my own story so don't get upset if I don't answer your question.

So the question that came up most was: Will Tatsumi get reincarnated as well? And like I said, I won't spoiler my own story; so make of it what you will. But I already have a pairing for Weiss in mind.

Next I would like to thank Mikhail Sharon for correcting my spelling errors; the truth is I'm not a native speaker so please tell me if I make some spelling mistakes. I have seen a few great stories that were ruined by bad grammar. But back to your question you asked if Weiss has figure like Weiss, Esdeath or blend between the two. I tried to keep it vague but the simple answer would be blend while leaning closer to how Esdeath looked in the manga. Also keep in mind the she is still growing.

GoddammitMichael1 asked if Weiss is going to get some major power-up before Beacon. The truth is right now she doesn't need more power. She casually managed to throw Yang around like a ragdoll and was able to go head to head with Cinder in magic battle. So she has more than enough strength. You also said that she doesn't have any memories as Esdeath, that's not necessary true, but I will elaborate on that in future chapters.

And that's all leave a review and I will see you guys next chapter.
