A/N: Welp I got four reviews in total. Guess that makes this an official series now by the time of this chapter.
Ruby let out an annoyed groan as she woke up, her skull felt like a jackhammer had gone through it. She threw away her bottle of beer, and after lighting up a cigarette. She tuned out the loud as fuck voices as she went to the locker rooms.
She made some adjustments to her baby Crescent Rose. I could take out my other babies, but naw fuck it. I will just wait another brothersdamned day to show off Crescent Rose's little siblings. Besides not like this exam can be that tough, if even that lazy apathetic, balls dragging, puking, no good, bird shit reekworthy, droopy-eyed, piece of shit Uncle of mine can pass it. Then it's likely not even that hard. Ruby slammed her locker shut and cocked Crescent Rose.
"Oh yeah, Momma is going to have a great time today honey." She grinned at the thought of slaughtering so many Grimm with her pride and joy.
"Umm, Ruby you do know that's creepy talking to your weapon like that right?" Yang said with a worried expression on her face.
"Blow me, sis. I made a fuck mothering masterpiece of destruction. I can do whatever the fuck I want with it." Ruby said with a roll of her eyes. She didn't stay around to hear Yang yammer on or pay attention to Jaune badly flirting with the snowflake.
Marching over to the cliff, Ruby continued her smoking as many other students lined up. She had heard about this kind of thing before. Blah blah, get launched off a cliff, don't die, collect some kind of relics. Boom profit. Ruby didn't much care about that part.
"And the first person you make eye contact with will be your partner for the next four years." That however did catch her attention.
She groaned and raised a hand, at the same time as Jaune.
"Yes, Ms. Rose?" Ozpin asked and then took a sip out of his mug.
"Did my Uncle come up with this, or are you this stupid? No stupid doesn't even begin to describe it. You have to be the most empty brained, puss-filled, riddled retard, what did some apathy Grimm crawl into your ass when you came up with this? Why the fuck would you think that is a good way of setting up partners?" Ruby let out a long exhale of smoke, which made its way over to Ozpin.
He took another sip, managing to not cough from the obnoxious fumes. "It is how it has been for many generations miss rose. Through this method, people of all walks of life can be paired together when they wouldn't ordinarily do so. It fosters understanding, and cooperation that makes Huntsmen a united force even when apart." Ozpin stated, and Glynda and Weiss looked pleased with that speech.
"Un-huh right sure," Ruby rolled her eyes at that statement. "Because there's never been any fuck ups. Bullfucking shit." She retorted derisively.
"As I recall. One of our top teams, a team your mother and father were on along with your uncle and aunt. Were one of our best and also happened to be formed in this same manner." Ozpin took another sip as if he made a good point.
"Exactly my point," Ruby said sarcastically and Ozpin nodded, and then with a gesture of his fingers, the launch pads sent the students flying off into the forest.
"THIS AIN'T OVER YOU OLD SHIT!" Ruby cursed in the distance as she was flung far away.
"Sir. I ask you again. Do we have to let her attend?" Glynda asked rubbing her forehead in exasperation.
"She has the makings of a great Huntress Glynda. Reminds me of when you criticized most of our traditions." Ozpin stated with a slight smirk, as Glynda fumed and blushed.
"I wasn't that foul-mouthed." She muttered under her breath. "Vocal yes, but not foul-mouthed." She muttered again bringing up a tablet to check out how the test in the forest was going.
The Forest
Ruby took another long drag on her cigarette as she soared through the sky, in freefall. As the wind whipped through her hair, she felt at peace. Maybe it was the cool breeze, maybe it was her hangover starting to die down. Or the funny screams of Jaune Arc as he flailed through the air. Okay, time to take my balls out, and come up with a gameplan. Since I have to apparently ugh join a fucking team of horny, braindead idiots. I might as well pick one of those cunts. Better the bitch you know. So better find Yang. She may be a dead brained, cock guzzling bimbo. But she's still my sister, so it's better than nothing. Ruby shifted Crescent Rose into scythe mode, twisting some parts of the handle she shifted some gears in the scythe.
She pulled the trigger and instead of firing out a bullet, a steady stream of black fire streamed out of the chamber. The black fire was a specially designed concoction she had made, using some black dust and some flamer fuel, she had learned it made a pretty damn effective rocket-powered substance. Useful for short bursts of flight, and or adding some oomph to her attacks. Then again there is also that wannabe emo looking girl, at least if I teamed up with her, she might have some neat smut for me to borrow. Ruby did briefly think of Jaune as well. He's dumb as shit, but hey at least he looks cute. Maybe he can compensate for lack of brains. So ideally, Yang, Blake, Jaune, and Me. She touched down on a tree and then using her semblance she made it to the ground floor. "Not exactly the kind of team I want. But it would be tolerable, better than if I ended up on a team with that bitch-ass Snowfla-" Ruby's cigarette dropped out of her mouth as she turned the corner, and her silver eyes locked eyes with the piercing pale blue eyes of said Snowflake.
"CUNT!" Ruby shouted. Weiss blinked at the volume of the obscenity and shook her head. Her ears ringed a bit as she stumbled back.
"No." She shook her head in refusal. "I am not working with you. Nope. Not happening." Weiss turned on her heel and left, to which Ruby spat in her direction.
"Good fucking riddance." Ruby sighed and looked down at the cigarette on the ground, a bit sad about the wasted sweet nicotine. She stamped out the cigarette, taking some time to cool down. She took the time to relax a little thinking of how she could just pretend to not have made eye contact with the cunt, or she could claim she was still too drunk to look straight.
That should do the trick. Ruby thought in satisfaction, as she picked up her scythe, and took out another cigarette. But alas our poor heroine's cigarette was cruelly stabbed away by the rapier from the returning snowflake. Ruby inhaled and glared at Weiss utterly pissed.
"Shut up you thug. I don't want to team up with you in many regards, but I won't team up with that Arc Boy. And I won't fail this exam, I refuse to. But this doesn't make us friends got it?" Weiss glared back at Ruby.
"Yeah, I got it. But you forgot one thing." Ruby stated much to Weiss' confusion.
"And what would that be?" Weiss asked thinking she had been pretty consistent with her words. The only response she got was a punch to the face.
"Don't fucking start what you can't finish. You owe me a cigarette. Also sure whatever, you want to tag along. Go ahead, but you better not slow me down snowflake." Ruby turned away and began walking into the forest. Weiss held her nose, despite aura acting like a forcefield and healing agent, that hook of Ruby's was still painful as fuck.
You're a schnee. You're better, just get the relic. And request a new partner once this is all over. Weiss internally muttered as she followed after the foul-mouthed barbaric short-tempered girl.
Weiss' mind turned back to thoughts of home. The cold distant memories of long ago, always struggling to prove herself, show she was more than a pretty doll. Mother didn't even say a word when I left, I thought she would say something, anything but instead, she acted like I didn't exist. That emotionless woman.
She calmly kept her rapier Myrtenaster at the ready. It may not have been as big or deadly looking as the brute's scythe but it worked perfectly with her flawless unrivaled semblance. If we had a proper duel, she would have learned that I am far better than she could ever hope to be. Weiss kept pace with the woman, who surprisingly was silent, and hadn't even taken out another cigarette just yet.
It didn't take long for snarling to be heard. Weiss stepped back holding her Rapier aloft, but when she looked around for Ruby. The girl was nowhere to be seen. Where did she go? Somehow the loud brash brute had managed to vanish from her sight when she wasn't looking. Weiss shook her head, deciding to get into a stance she had mastered over many years. One foot back, shoulders straightened, and arms raised.
In time as a pack of Beowolf Grimm stepped out of the shadows. And were she anyone else, she would've shuddered in fear. It was always a sight to see massive monsters that were dark as nights, with hate-filled burning eyes behind a pale white mask with red markings. These beowolves weren't pups, and easily towered over grown men, but still weren't as massive as Ursa. She most of all hated how they reminded her of those horror scroll monster werewolves. Then again they did inspire them.
Weiss inhaled deep and slowly as she readied one of her glyphs, the cartridge in her rapier changing as she charged the glyph with red dust, making it flammable. The Glyph red in color, she propelled herself forward ready to take one out. A loud shot rang through the air, as the Beowolf she faced was downed with one shot, and the sudden death of the creature cowered her to stumble over its disintegrating corpse.
Many shots rang out, as howling and roaring were snuffed out. As a side effect, however, the glyph that she had used, which would have set the beowolf on fire had things gone according to plan, had instead gone off, setting the ground on fire, and the fire started to spread.
Weiss huffed under her breath, as she wisely decided to withdraw from the spreading wildfire. The few Beowolves that were left also ran away, and when she was clear enough. She heard the footsteps behind her and she snapped looking at Ruby.
"Are you kidding me? What were you thinking?! YOU COULD HAVE SHOT ME!" Weiss yelled at the redhead who rolled her eyes.
"And yet no only did I not shoot you. I also had a higher fucking kill count." Ruby said nonchalantly.
"That's not the point! I started a forest fire because of you. We're supposed to be working together as a team, you just went off on your own without saying a thing!" Weiss was fuming at this point but wisely kept out of Ruby's punching range.
"I told you to keep up. Maybe if you had focused less on that pussyfooting style, you might have gotten to a better vantage point. And realized no shit I might be shooting at things with a gun like a smart person, instead of charging at a brothersdamned monster that can tear people apart in melee." Ruby replied bluntly.
"And the fire?!" Weiss snapped.
"Yeah what about it? You want a pat on the back, no thanks Snowflake. That's far too intimate. Besides we need to get a fucking move on. So you going to keep whining like a neglected toddler or you going to work with me to find the fucking relics?" Ruby rolled her eyes upon finishing the statement.
"You're impossible!" Weiss exclaimed.
"And you're still whining like an infant. Shocker." Ruby brushed past Weiss roughly, intent on just getting the exam over with.
Weiss held in many unfriendly words as she stormed off after Ruby. Not noticing the large feather silently dropping behind them.
Blake looked at the blonde brawler. "Hmm." She commented. Yang looked at her with a quizzical expression.
"What is something on me?" She asked looking over her clothes.
"No, it's just…" Blake quieted down.
"Ah. I see. Yeah, I do hear how I and Ruby don't seem like sisters. But if you get to know her, deep down she is a nice person. I swear it. It's just really deep deep deep deep deep deep abysmally deep down." Yang let out a nervous laugh as they traveled through the forest.
"Hnn. Why do you let her treat you so harshly?" Blake asked her.
"Well. I know from the outside it seems like she hates me. But honestly, Ruby has always had my back. She's ornery, but the one time someone did call me a slut. Ruby tore that person apart with such a vicious tongue lashing, that I don't think he ever really recovered." Yang chuckled. "Besides, I kinda messed up when I was younger. Let's leave it at that." Yang stated, thinking of the bone fiasco, so many fires.
"You still seemed hesitant about being on a team with her." Blake pointed out, and Yang gulped sweating.
"I love my sister, but whenever she has been forced to work in a team… She gets… very competitive to say the least." Yang genuinely felt bad for whatever poor souls ended up on the same team as her sister.
"I see well then, we should continue to head north to the forest ruin. Find those relics." Blake commented dryly.
Jaune felt a lot different than he had yesterday. Ever since Ruby had unlocked the thing she called Aura. He felt different, he didn't even feel like he could get hurt. Even the stray branch scraping against his cheek didn't leave a single scratch.
"Jaune I am surprised. You seem to have a massive quantity of Aura, but I wouldn't recommend exhausting it so much. Aura isn't infinite." Pyrrha chided him gently as they moved through the forest.
"Oh! Yeah, I know that." Jaune laughed a little nervous. He didn't know that. All I know is Ruby slapped the heck out of me, and my aura whatever it is activated itself.
"Jaune…" Pyrrha said with crossed arms with a tone that reminded him of his mother and older sisters.
"Umm I mean what's the worst that can happen, it can replenish right?" Jaune sheepishly replied.
"Jaune when Aura runs out. A huntsman is at his most vulnerable, we can't use semblances, our weapons weaken, dust becomes useless to us. We can no longer heal or be protected. How long ago did you unlock your aura?" Pyrrha asked with a worried expression.
"Yesterday…" Jaune admitted unable to find himself lying to her. The way she looked at him, made him feel incredibly self-conscious. Pyrrha blinked in surprise and shock even. But she let out a sigh.
"Okay," She said stopping in her tracks. "Jaune just don't be reckless, please. Remember the basics of combat, and you will be fine." She did think it was odd how someone that got into Beacon had no earthly clue what aura was. Surely, however, if they let him in, then he must have potential.
Jaune smiled in response and felt happy. He had been dreading her being angry at him, to tell him that he didn't belong. But she is giving me a chance… I won't let my partner down! I swear on my name as an arc! They resumed walking.
"So how did you unlock your aura yesterday then?" Pyrrha asked him and Jaune sweated thinking back to that loud and painful bitch slap.
"I uh... stubbed my toe and it hurt a lot…" Jaune stated in an embarrassed tone. Pyrrha smiled and laughed a little, but mercifully decided to not pursue the subject any further.
Back at the cliffs, Ozpin sipped from his mug as he watched the events transpiring in the forest below on his scroll.
"The last of the pairs have been formed. I don't see how that Valkyrie girl can get along with the Ren boy." Glynda shook her head in disapproval, not noticing the cute boop scene. "To be honest Ozpin, I don't see any of these pairs working with this generation. They all seem like walking disasters. Maybe we should rethink this? And allow requested transfers this time?" As much as the vice principal hated to admit it, that loud-mouthed Ruby Rose had a point.
"No. We will stay the course Ms. Goodwitch." Ozpin replied, and went to take another sip. But found his mug empty and he frowned in disapproval.
"But sir! You can't be serious?!" Glynda stomped her foot down. She had finally had enough. "Bad enough you accepted Rose in! But on top of that, you also let a boy in who despite what his transcripts say, clearly must have faked them. Plus the Winchester boy, and worst of all. A brothersdamned ex white fang!" Glynda was practically red with rage, her aura flared purple, as the cliff shook around them.
"Despite what walks of life they come from. They are all in service of fighting the Grimm. And keeping back the dark." Ozpin replied calmly. "They may not be the most promising-looking candidates, but perhaps that is what is needed now more than ever. Something different from what is expected." Ozpin said in a tired tone.
"Sir?" Glynda asked confused.
"I've seen more students then I can remember gone off to be hunters, and then never come back. We've fought this war against Darkness for so long. I don't even remember when it became routine. And now those people you judge harshly come in and shake up the routine. Perhaps I am getting senile, but I should think we see just where this all leads no? If nothing else, if we lose. Then it's all for nothing." Ozpin finished bleakly and held up his mug. "Now be a dear and go refill my mug, Glynda. Go on." He waved the mug in front of her face, and with a snarl, she took it and stomped off while he continued to watch the teams struggle to find their way to the shrine.
Weiss snarled as she looked around them. They had been wandering around for what felt like a long time trying to find the brothersdamned shrine. And all the while, Ruby wasn't helping in the slightest having taking out a flask she had in her jacket, and downing what smelled like whiskey.
"WHERE IS THAT SHRINE?!" She finally snapped and Ruby laughed.
"So the snowflake can't find her way after all," Ruby smirked and downed more whiskey.
"And you're just drinking! Can't you do anything other than lazing around like some dolt?!" Weiss felt her right eye twitching as she pointed a finger at Ruby.
"He said it was the northern shrine. We will get there when we get there. So how about you do me a favor, take that stick out of your ass. And go masturbate somewhere else." Ruby said with a shrug.
"THAT'S IT!" Weiss unsheathed Myrtenaster, and immediately created a series of white glyphs as she zoomed at Ruby at a frightening speed.
"Round One then Snowflake!" Ruby bellowed as she took out her scythe and held it up all cocky. Let's just get this over with She wore a disinterested expression as she dashed to the side. Only to be almost surprised as Weiss took the advantage to make a black glyph jumping on it, and flinging herself at Ruby like a slingshot.
Ruby used Crescent Rose to shoot at the ground, and the force of the shot not only created a crater that blind Weiss with the amount of dirt and rock flying everywhere. But it also had the benefit of launching Ruby into the air, harmlessly out of the way of Weiss' clever attack, she added a flourish of a backflip while landing with her scythe pointed in Weiss' direction. So she has more than one type of glyph. White seems to work as a platform for her, when they're black though, hmm I doubt it's just stretchiness. "And here I thought magic was a fucking fairytale," Ruby commented while Weiss got into another stance.
"IT'S NOT MAGIC!" Weiss shouted.
"Bullshit. That is magic, most semblances are one-note. You're making platforms and shit. What else can ya do you cunt?" Ruby taunted the Heiress.
"I will show you, you insolent dolt!" Weiss screamed, as a new kind of glyph appeared under her, it seemed to have a clock symbol in it. And Weiss glowed an odd color, yellowish.
Then she rushed at Ruby and was far faster than when she had been using the white glyphs. Ruby stayed still as the rapier went through her chest. Weiss' eyes widened at that.
"No!" Weiss screamed at the sudden penetration. This can't be happening, I only wanted to make her learn a lesson not kill her...NO NO NO NO. However, her fear turned to confusion as instead of blood coming out, it was rose petals.
"Got you bitch." Ruby then slammed her head into Weiss's stunned face, The heiress reeled from the shock. Weiss could only feel blinding pain. Ruby followed up the headbutt with a strong right uppercut, sending Weiss flying with her rapier.
The heiress landed on the hard ground, causing a lot of dirt to be displayed in a cloud.
"You jumped a lot like a demented little ballerina cunt. I knew I had to close that distance somehow. So I let you stab at me, my semblance is also pretty bullshit." Ruby chuckled as Weiss got up, steaming mad. "I can use my semblance to turn into Rose Petals, Yang calls it Petal Burst. What I did was turn part of my chest, the part where you were stabbing into petals. That way your blade would pass through harmlessly." Ruby said with a mocking grin. "That will be the only time I explain shit to you little cunt." The hole in her chest soon filled back up with the rose petals, and all was back to normal.
"But wanna know the best part?" She said with a vicious grin, putting away the flask with one hand.
"What?" Weiss asked with a snarl.
"You didn't even get that deep. Two out of ten, I could barely feel your wittle sword." Ruby punctuated with a yawn. "So Snowflake, how about we just move on, and I won't have to clap your cheeks as your dad does with your mommy," Ruby said knowing it would piss off Weiss greatly.
Which it did, and Weiss screaming out loud with rage rushed at Ruby again. As Ruby held out Crescent Rose, activating it's war scythe mode, the blade moving upwards. Crouching forward, Ruby was bored ready to end this fight.
And then she noticed out of the corner of her eye, a large black feather falling. "Oh… Motherfu-" She was cut off as the massive nevermore Grimm swooped from above just as Weiss got within distance of her, and both girls yelled as they got swooped up by the flying bird monster.
"Honestly that little brat, picking fights in the middle of the forest." Glynda gritted her teeth in frustration watching the scene unfold.
"Don't let her attitude fool you, Glynda. Despite everything, you see at first glance. Miss Rose is possibly one of the most talented of her generation. Her scores, her skills, she was the top dog at Signal Academy. I would daresay only one other student could claim to be her equal in skill." Ozpin commented, and then sipped from his mug. "A pity they aren't partnered up. But who knows maybe they will be able to compete to bring out the best in each other. Or one will fall and one will be left standing as the best. Much like it was in the past." Ozpin commented thinking of his two best students from long ago.
"Ozpin. You can't keep playing these games." Glynda said with a stern look. "I get you to want the best hunters to graduate from your school. But isn't it enough that the tests ahead, and the entrance exam has already weeded down all of them to only three teams this year?" Glynda said looking at a list of students who had given up, thankfully no one had died. Supposedly in the past according to rumors, people had died. But the reality was much crueler, some came close to death to the point they were traumatized and no longer wished to be a huntsman. Ozpin can be so cruel with showing people the true reality of the world. Glynda sometimes felt sad for the ones who failed, but she could reason that at least they had the chance to choose a less cruel life. And could always try again next year.
"Port here~ I have rescued the last of the dropout students." Port's voice came over the radio, and that did ease Glynda's tension just a bit. "Should I go after Miss Rose and Miss Schnee?" He asked in a jovial manner.
"No. They will find their way out." Ozpin declared, and Glynda sighed. Knowing she wouldn't be able to argue with the headmaster. Based on the current amount of people still left that hadn't given up or failed enough to be booted out. There was only enough for three teams. Four had already found the relics and were making their way back to the safe zone.
And it appeared that Yang and Blake had made their way there, along with Lei Ren and Nora Valkyrie. It wouldn't be long until the last four showed up.
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK!" Ruby yelled out as she fell through the sky. Fucking cockblocking Nevermore. I was going to have fun beating the life out of that uptight snowflake. Ruby fumed as she converted Crescent Rose back into its gun mode, and hooked back on her skirt. All she had to do right now was focus on getting a good landing.
"AHHHHHHH!" Came the scream of one flying Jaune Arc. Ruby promptly reacted to the sudden scream, as well as his flight intersecting with hers with a punch to his unfortunate little Jaune, sending them both flying apart. Ruby grunted as she landed in a tree, looking as Jaune was sent flying at Blake. Only to see Blake turn into a black outline that vanished, and also noticed Blake standing next to the side. So she can create something to take her place? Neat. Ruby in a rush of rose petals, made her way over to the shrine.
"Ruby, you okay?" Yang asked. Ruby's response was a simple middle finger. While ignoring the peppy ginger girl wearing pink. Though Ruby did think the girl was neat for having ridden in on an Ursa.
"Why the fuck were you flying Jaune?" Ruby asked with a raised eyebrow and was tempted to take out another cigarette.
"Uhh well…" Jaune pointed at the woods, as his partner came running out. Followed by what looked like a giant demonic scorpion. "That." He said still wincing from the punch to the dick.
"Oh great, any more headaches the universe wants to fucking give? Feel free to." Ruby groaned as she heard a familiar screeching. She looked up at the sky. Weiss was screaming as she fell from the nevermore, down to the ground.
"OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE USE YOUR DAMN GLYPHS, YOU IDIOT!" Ruby shouted at the falling Heiress, who sobered up at that exclamation. As she set up a series of black glyphs that slowed her fall enough that she landed on the ground with ease. She picked herself off and ran off to the shrine. Ruby rolled her eyes as the famed champion Pyrrha slid next to them, exhausted from outrunning the Deathstalker.
"Well, we're all gathered together. That's nice, it will make dying together a lot easier." Yang joked to try and ease the tension as two giant Grimm were surrounding them. One from the ground and one from the sky.
"Quit your fucking bitching. You pussies go ahead, grab the things, and I will fucking kill these things." Ruby then rushed off before Yang could get a word in edgewise. She dashed at the Deathstalker unloading a rapid-fire barrage of bullets at its eyes. Though annoyingly the Nevermore then launched feathers at her, larger than her and numerous. She dodged and weaved, but all it took was one lucky feather to land a lucky hit on her leg. Damn it, I shouldn't have gotten cocky, without aura to my leg. That thing has me pinned. If I use my semblance while injured I could fuck myself up. Ruby gritted her teeth, as she switched firing mode for her rifle. If she was going to go out, then the least she could do was get in one last good shot.
But then right as the stinger was going to come down on her. A wall of ice encased it, and Ruby was stunned by the sudden save.
"I hate you. You are foul-mouthed, arrogant, rude, have insulted me far too much for my liking." Ruby finally noticed the heiress in front of her. Panting as she had barely made it in time to save her. "But I won't deny you have a lot of skill. And if you can stop being so brash, and work with me instead of trying to solo. I will…" Weiss sighed. "Stop trying to judge you, and be a little nicer… As much as I can." Weiss turned around and looked at her. "If we're going to get through this, we need to work together." She finished.
"Alright Snowflake. I can work with that, just don't fuck up and we will be golden." Ruby used Crescent Rose in its scythe mode to cut off the feather stuck in her leg, from the bottom sticking out. Then yanking the top part out, she ran with Weiss supporting her weight, as her aura healed up the wound. Just in time for the ice to shatter.
"There's no way we can take those things." Jaune was practically freaking out. A harsh slap rang out as Ruby hit him.
"Why did any of you join to be Huntsmen? Did you do it because you thought it would be fun? Did you do it because it would be easy?" Ruby ranted. "I joined to be a huntress for two main fucking reasons. One I want to kill things like that along with assholes that might as well be those things. And two, not everyone can be me. And everyone who isn't like my asshole self is likely to get their goddamn faces eaten off by those things. So You know what I am going to do? I am going to kill those things, so they can't kill any other unfortunate cunt. So if you want to help me do that, Fanfuckingtastic, otherwise just fucking go." Ruby went up to the shrine and grabbed a knight piece.
"We're in." Jaune shakily stated as he joined her, grabbing a white rook piece. The others nodded also with her and Ruby shrugged.
"Fucking great. So now we're going to need a place to put these bitches down." Ruby said while cocking Crescent Rose.
"When I was falling, I saw an ancient fortress not far from here." Weiss piped up.
"Good fucking job Snowflake. Everyone follow the white cunt to the fortress." Ruby shouted to them. Weiss didn't like the language but she knew right now they needed to work together, all of them if they were going to take down two large Grimm.
"Something the matter Glynda?" Ozpin asked, and he sounded smug as he took a sip from his mug. Glynda didn't reply to him at first, watching the footage of people following Ruby's lead into battle. Sure they were following Weiss for directions. But it was clear everyone there was following Ruby's example. Somehow despite being such a bitch, she had inspired them to fight against what seemed like impossible odds.
"I suppose even the worst of us can prove there is something more than meets the eye." Glynda hated to admit that Ruby was proving her wrong about being unable to work on a team. "Still, I doubt the team you're already assigning her on is a good match. They may have all gotten the white knight pieces, a coincidence at best. But surely that doesn't mean they will make the most effective team." Glynda stated. Only for her jaw to drop at how the large group split off on the footage, and it seemed like the universe was mocking her as the groups formed into the teams Ozpin had already assigned them. "Not a word." She uttered each word out slowly and with annoyance.
Ozpin for his part was pleased with the performance of the two teams. Jaune despite being somewhat of a coward, managed to lead his team in a straightforward enough manner to defeat the deathstalker. Though he did worry about how Jaune had been eager enough to risk himself, perhaps the boy had self-worth issues. Using himself as bait, but cleverly, Pyrrha and Lie Ren managed to immobilize the deathstalker's left and right side, and then the Champion of Mistral got a good shot, dislodging its stinger, and the hammer-wielding warrior girl Nora finished it off with a mighty swing of her weapon Mjolnir.
"Alright listen up bitches. I have a plan. It's a simple one. Yang and Blake, you're the bait. Yang you're going to lure it, jump in its mouth and give it some nice hot piping serving of lead. Then biggity bounce your ass out of there, and hand it over to Blake." Ruby turned her attention to Blake. "Lead that thing out of the way over to that spot." Ruby pointed at a specific place. "Then slink back to shadows like the ninja you are, it will be pissed off after Yang shoots it a lot, but you should be able to dodge it." Ruby then clicked her fingers. "Weiss you're with me, but Yang and Blake don't fucking overdo it. I will still need you for the final part. Which is the most fun part." Ruby motioned for them to lean in, and then they rushed off to do their parts.
Yang loudly whistled in the direction of the Nevermore. Drawing the giant bird's attention. Yang flew through the air leaping between pillars, using her Ember Celica, her shotgun gauntlets to propel herself. Blake provided suppressive fire, as Yang waited until just the right moment as they were turning a corner. To then rush at the Grimm point-blank.
Leaping in its mouth, she forcefully held the beak open with one hand and both her legs. And rapidly fired into the beast's mouth, using her explosive rounds to deal extra damage. "Is it good for you big boy?" She mocked it as the force of it trying to crush her in its mouth, was negated by her semblance which could soak up damage. That was the reason Ruby had chosen her to be bait.
Impressive, she hasn't known me or Weiss for long. Yet in the span of so little time upon seeing a glimpse of our semblances. She managed to not only figure them out but to so effectively come up with a cunning strategy. That Ruby is no less short of a genius, a crude one, but still a genius. Blake grimaced as shot at the creature and drew its attention back to her as Yang leaped out of its mouth. Blake with grace and skill bobbed and weaved, her shadow taking the place where she would have been hit several times by flying feathers. Never once even coming close to being grazed. She's like Adam, she has an eye for battle. Blake sighed as she made her way back to her destination, with Yang following close behind.
Ruby was waiting for them with Weiss. Blake threw her Gambol Shroud, the ribbon creating a slingshot for Ruby to use. Yang distracted the Nevermore one last time, with a mighty yell. Her long hair glowing golden and her purple eyes turned a blazing red. She focused her aura into her left fist and punched at the Nevermore, and a fiery fireball exploded in the shape of her fist, flying at the Nevermore, and it burned through it, causing it to let out a mighty screech of pain.
Ruby grinned as Yang then blasted herself away with her gauntlet firing off at the nevermore. "Alright Double time bitches!" Ruby shouted as she got into place, once Wiess pulled the ribbon back with a white glyph. Ruby leaped over the ribbon, landing on the glyph as it turned Black. "Make sure you don't miss Snowflake," Ruby said with a grin.
"And you make sure you can finish this plan you started," Weiss replied back. Then Ruby was launched at the nevermore. Her scythe catching it by the throat, Yang and Blake shot at it with their heaviest ammunition, disabling its wings. And Weiss created white glyphs on the cliffside, as Ruby kept shooting with the gun part of Crescent Rose, the momentum and force of it carrying the Nevermore the rest of the way. Once her legs made contact with the cliffside, she began running, while firing Crescent Rose into automatic fire mode, dragging the Nevermore with her as she ran up the cliff, where just before she made it to the top. The massive bird's head was finally severed, as Ruby leaped up the cliff and flipped forward onto the cliff.
Ruby turned around taking out a single cigarette, holding it next to the gun barrel of Crescent Rose. Ruby activated the flamer function and lit it. And then she allowed herself to take a deep inhale of her cigarette and reveled in her sweet sweet victory.
One Hour Later - Beacon Academy
"Today we stand gathered here to welcome three new teams in our ranks. To all those who could not make it this far. Do not doubt yourselves, instead take time to reflect and grow. And should you wish it, you may attempt it once more next year." Ozpin said his farewells to the students who hadn't been so fortunate to make it into Beacon. Though in truth he didn't much have sympathy for them, he had warned them that the test would be grueling and not for the faint of heart. It's actually surprising that we got so many students this year, Last year only one team was formed. And they are already making a reputation for themselves amongst the hunter community despite still being in school. Ozpin looked at the gathered students that made up the three teams.
"Team CRDL, led by Cardin Winchester. You picked the black bishop pieces. You managed to make it to the site first. Your teamwork is exemplary. Hold fast, Keep true to yourselves, and don't be afraid." Cardin smirked while Russel, Sky, and Dove applauded their leader. Smug and satisfied with themselves for being the first ones for having completed the exam.
"Team JNPR. Leader, Jaune Arc." Ozpin almost chuckled by the shocked look on Jaune's face when he said that, and Pyrrha seemed to be too strong for her good when she gave him a reassuring shoulder punch that sent him flying. "While you did stumble, you showed great innovation when it came to facing your obstacle. Hone yourselves to a higher degree, and look deep within yourselves and you will triumph." Ozpin saw them smile and cheer, before finally turning to the last team.
"Team RWBY, led by… Ruby Rose." Ozpin could practically hear Glynda pouting.
"What?!" Ruby and Weiss asked at the same time before glaring at each other.
"You have shown that you have great talent. If you can grow and learn together. You will be unstoppable." Ozpin stated and then turned around to look at everyone on his raised podium. "As this new school year begins, remember what you fight for. Hold to your resolve, and even if you couldn't make it. You may yet still fight in other ways, for there are many who protect the realms as much as Hunter does. Farewell, and good day to you all." Ozpin then sipped from his mug yet again and began walking away, as the other students were cleared out.
"So we're on a team. And I am the leader of this shit show." Ruby groaned as the other two teams went their own ways.
"We love you too sis. Right guys?" Yang put her hands on her hips.
"No." Weiss bluntly stated and walked away with her nose sticking up in the air.
"That remains to be seen," Blake said and silently walked away.
"Fuck all of you too. Fuck I am going to have to call that useless uncle so I can get my shit here." Ruby hated the thought of calling up Uncle Qrow, but he was still at Patch.
"I think this year is off to a good start sis." Yang beamed, and Ruby groaned as her sister picked her up in a hug.
"This is the only hug I am going to allow you. Try that shit again, and I will-" Ruby was cut off.
"C'mon can't I just enjoy a hug with my baby sister for five minutes? Please? I got into beacon, surely I've earned that?" Yang asked with a hopeful look. Ruby groaned and rolled her eyes, and kicked out her legs for a few seconds.
"Fine, but don't count on getting any more from me bimbo," Ruby said as she consigned herself to five minutes of annoying contact, while Yang leaped for joy.
Later at Night in Vale
Roman looked at his arm, the scar was still there. His aura had mostly healed the damage, but the sword had managed to damage the muscle tissue in his shoulder so severely it was going to take longer for his aura to fully heal it all the way.
"Well, how are those shipments coming along?" He asked through gritted teeth, as he rolled his sleeve back down. The pain was still there.
A large man with a white mask approached him, a Faunus, it was hard to tell what breed. But he did command a presence. "Well, we've managed to collect more dust tonight. However, they are on the lookout for our activity." The giant of a Faunus replied, showing off the cases of stolen dust.
"It will have to do. We still have a long way to go until we have everything we need. And when can we get more reinforcements from your group?" Roman asked.
"The White Fang doesn't answer to you Human. I am more than enough, and these youngbloods will prove themselves in this operation. Any other reinforcements we receive will be recruits to the cause. So says The White Fang." The Giant towered over Roman and almost seemed like he would crush the puny man's skull. But Roman glared back, not backing down. Eventually, the taller man nodded and walked away.
Damn it. Fucking honor-bound Zealots. Have to make everything so damn difficult. And Banesaw is the worst of them. Still, they are a useful instrument like She said they would be. All I have to do is just make sure to carry out my part of the plan. Roman felt cranky until a light hand tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around seeing an umbrella, and let out a sigh of relief. Alright, Torchwick, you're the boss in this town, you have this. You're going to rob them blind of dust, and then you will find the bitch in red who destroyed your hat and wounded your arm. And this time surprise won't be on her side, and she will see what I am really capable of. Roman grinned as he took a box from his lovely assistant, and opened it up somewhat painfully, to reveal a brand new bowler hat. Identical to his old one, and he smiled as he put it on. He was back in business.
A/N: Hello there folks. I am grateful that you guys loved the last chapter. Like super grateful. So in this chapter. I decided to condense some episodes into a single chapter, mostly because it was easier that way. That being said there is a reason I glossed over some parts of the story. Mostly because I didn't want to do a one-to-one retelling, since well it was already done the best it could be in the show, and to be honest I was more focused on Ruby and her team dynamics.
So then in the upcoming chapters, I do have an announcement. For starters, I am not going to keep following the rigid nature of Volume One. Mostly because Volume One screws with time, and I want to explore the team more in this season one. Which is focused on building up team Rwby.
As for the changes I made. Well, Aura is already inconsistent in RWBY, so I figure why not at least add some cool factors to it. For starters, the fight isn't over when the aura is out. And much like ki or chakra, it can recover fast, or be turned off and on and or focused in different ways. Basically, I am planning some fights where it would be boring if I stuck one hundred percent to the old fighting system, and I am going to have fun coming up with crazy fights.
As for cutting down all the students? Well let's face it, one aside from Team CFVY, Team CRDL, Team JNPR, and Team RWBY. In beacon, we never saw any other teams, and the other students were just random nobodies. I prefer the concept less is more. And I might make more changes down the story, either for entertainment reasons or because it's more interesting.
Welp seeya guys next time and don't forget to review please XD.

Team CRDL Starring in Nope.
It was a lovely day for The pride and joy of the Winchesters. Cardin felt strong, as he strolled through the forest. His mighty mace tore through Grimm with ease. His impromptu team gelled with him like naturals. This was no surprise, they had all come from the same school, had known each other all their lives. Even had the same kind of armor.
"Alright boys, we're about to make it to the site. We get our relics, Flex on the noobs. And we teach them a lesson that we're the top dogs. And no one fucks with us. Am I right boys?" Cardin asked and they cheered loudly. "This will be all too easy." Cardin thought to himself with confidence. Long gone is the boy who cried at Signal, ever since I moved away from there. My life has been easy as heck. Nothing can bring me down, I will be the greatest huntsman of them all. When I become a full-fledged huntsman, I can use my new standing in society and restore the Winchester name like that one Schnee did two centuries ago after they lost the war against the Faunus badly. Cardin felt really good with his life. Then he heard something, a loud voice.
The word carried on the wind was raspy, but that voice. "CUNT!" Cardin instantly lost his confident smile, as he heard that voice. His team looked at him in confusion as they saw the confident young man began to quiver in fright. And then a dark spot began to form in his pants.
"Boss?" Russel asked wondering what had scared his boss so badly. And he looked around expecting a giant Grimm, or an entire horde of Grimm. Or Glynda Goodwitch.
But Cardin was lost in a world of his own, as his mind raced back to the old days he spent at Signal. Where a little girl his age with dark red hair, tormented him on a daily basis, twisted his nipples, shoved his head in toilets, punted him across yards for fun, and stuffed firebombs in his pants. That voice he would recognize it anywhere.
"We need to run now. And get to the safe zone, now!" Cardin shouted and began running away with all haste.
"But boss? What about teaching them a lesson?" Sky chipped in.
"Nope. Nope, Nope. NOPE NOPE NOPE." Cardin devolved into only saying nope as he ran like his life depended on it. Not even looking back once, as his teammates desperately tried to keep up with him. He kept looking left and right, hoping to not see the owner of that voice that chased him into his nightmares every night.
Thankfully when he made it to the safe zone, he was allowed to go change out his pants. But during the whole team arrangement, he did his best to not look directly at the feared one. The destroyer of worlds, that Ruby Rose. The girl who took his jacket because she could. It took every single ounce of willpower he had to not faint. And when he finally got settled into his room in the dorms. He cried himself to sleep that night, hoping that the brothers would have mercy on his poor soul.
