Chapter 1
.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
.~.~.~.~.~.Dean.~.~.~.~.~.
It was dark and raining outside, the ground was covered in an inch of water and the wind was causing the trees to wave back and forth. Inside a small motel room sat two young men, one was sitting on a twin bed watching tv. He had short cropped dark blonde hair, green eyes and wore a black T-shirt with tight dark blue jeans. The other was on a laptop in a plush red cushioned chair. He had shaggy brown hair that met his shoulders and brown eyes, a muscular build with broad shoulders and was very tall, almost a foot taller than the other man. He wore a dark blue plaid flannel over a white shirt and light blue jeans. It was quiet, except for the tv, until the phone rang startling the one watching TV..
"Dad? Where are you, we've been trying to find you?" Sam looked up when he heard his brother on the phone. They had been looking for their father for a month, even following coordinates that he sent them, just trying to figure out why he's hiding from them.
"You're lying right? What the fuck dad, this can't be true! I can't fucking believe you did this." Dean's face was white as paper and he was holding the phone so tightly his knuckles looked near transparent to the bone.
"Dean, what's wrong? What did dad do? Is he ok?" Sam asked but Dean just ignored him and continued to yell.
"I can't believe you, and what? you want us to take care of everything, you wanna dump this shit on us and bail. How do you even know this shit isn't evil." There was a pause as he waited for an answer, though for Sam it seemed unbearably long. "Yes of course we'll watch over her, I don't abandon family like you do. No, don't even try to defend your actions. I gotta warn Sam especially if your friend is coming in the morning. Bye." Dean slowly brought the phone down before flipping it closed and leaning his head back against the wall behind the bed.
"Dean? what's going on?" Sam jumped when instead of answering Dean stood and grabbed the bedside lamp before chucking it at the wall. "DEAN!"
"GOD DAMMIT SAM! Do you want to know what the fuck our dad just told me? Apparantly we have a baby fucking sister!" Shocked Sam fell back into his chair and just stared as Dean sat down and ran his hands through his hair. "Sammy dear old dad met a witch, but not the ones he warned us about, no he met one that was born with her magic, said there is a whole world of them hidden away. He slept with her during a case, got her knocked up and hightailed it when he found out. He said her brother found him a year later to tell him she was murdered and to give him the baby. Dad didn't want her and they came to some agreement. Sam her mom died the same way ours did." He paused to let that sink in before continuing. "Now something happened to her and Dad said she needs to have her biological family take her in or something bad will happen to her, as if nothing bad will happen if she comes here anyway. He can't take her which leaves me and you, he has someone coming in the morning to meet us to tell us more."
"So let me get this straight, we have a sister dad abandoned and never told us about, she may be a natural witch, and she's in trouble, and some guy is meeting us in the morning to what? Give her to us?"
"Yeah basically, Sammy, how could he not tell us we had a sister? He seemed worried about her so why not tell us sooner?" Sam just sighed and went to his bed next to Dean's bed. Dean always had a pedestal he put their father on, but finding out your idol was only human and made mistakes wasn't pleasant for any child, no matter the age.
"I don't know Dean if it wasn't him telling you I would think it was a lie, but I'm going to hit the sack so I guess we'll talk more when this guy gets here."
"Yeah, yeah, night Sammy." Dean stared at the ceiling until he heard Sam snoring, closing his eyes he sighed before succumbing to sleep himself. "How could he abandon her?" he whispered to the dark.
.~.~.~.~.~.Severus Snape.~.~.~.~.~.
"Albus, I must go, if her brothers agree to take custody of her I must bring them here as soon as physically possible. The longer she is here the longer she is in danger, not just by him but by the demon that killed my sister as well."
"Yes Severus I know, and though it is a risk sending her to active hunters, she will be hidden from Voldemort, removing one threat against her. I must ask though, how did she take the news?" Severus sighed and sat down in the chair across from the headmaster's desk.
"Albus, what they did to her, I can't even put into words, if I could I would kill everyone involved. Thankfully her parents told her she was adopted so when I told her the truth, yes it shocked her, but she listened. Had she not gone through what she did a few days ago, she would have fought tooth and nail about leaving, as it is... She doesn't like it but if she can tell her friends the truth before leaving them, she will do so." The headmaster sighed and ran his hand down his braided beard.
"To have to grow up so young, to lose your innocence at such a tender age, all we can do is hope the light prevails against the dark. Go now and bring them here, prepare them for a week, the paperwork is a long process and hiding them from the Ministry is even longer." Severus nodded before walking out of his office. When he crossed the wards he removed a small rope from his pocket and vanished on the spot arriving outside the American ministry. He waved his wand and spun, appearing outside a dingy dirty motel room door, grimacing in disgust he tapped the door three times with his wand and waited. Sam opened the door and spoke.
"Can I help you?" He asked.
"Am I right to presume that you are Samuel Winchester?" Sam's eyebrow rose at the English accent and nodded.
"Just Sam, am I to presume you are here about our, er, sister?"
"You would be correct." Sam waved him in and closed the door. Severus looked around the room and cringed at the mess. "I am sure you have questions, but we must make this quick, every second is another that she is at risk." Dean, who was standing by the bathroom, came forward and sat on the bed with a gun next to him.
"First question, Who the fuck are you and how do we know you're not lying?" As Dean spoke Sam joined him on the bed and motioned for the man to sit in the only chair in the room, strategically placed as far from the exit as possible.
"My name is Severus Snape and you both as well as Miss Granger are the only individuals I will not lie to. My reason being that you are the only ones I can trust with her safety." Severus tapped his fingers and looked towards the windows before facing Dean. "Your sister's safety is my top priority, I am unable to protect her as the magical world is at war and I am...in a...precarious position, one of which I can not give too much information on as too many lives are at stake if I do so, once your sister is with you she can tell you more."
"Why is she your priority?" Sam asked.
"The woman your father met, she was my sister, my twin sister. She made a mistake falling for a muggle, a non-magical person, and fell pregnant. She was never meant to have a child, was cursed barren by a dark wizard, but somehow your father managed to break the curse, we never learned how as it should have been impossible." Dean watched as he clenched his fist and jaw in anger. "She had told me that the father didn't want anything to do with her or the child. He told her he already had two kids to take care of and a monster to kill and had no time for an infant. She cried for months, she was alone, the only family she had was half a world away fighting in a war and was spiraling into depression. When she came close to her due date I came and was the one to help her for the first month before leaving. She called him and told him that the baby was a girl and healthy. He told her to lose his number. My sister was a strong woman but that nearly broke her, her daughter saved her and brought a lightness to her eyes I never saw before." Dean and Sam were looking equally disgusted by their father's actions, hardly believing what he did. Severus had to take a deep breath and continued with a slightly shaky voice. "I was sleeping when an alert went off on an enchanted ring I wore, it was connected to a necklace my sister wore that would react if she was in danger. I apparated, a form of teleportation, to the American Ministry and then to her home. It...was on fire, I ran inside and found her being burned alive by an unholy fire that I could not stop, in the nursery, and the baby crying from the crib." Tears formed in his eyes but never fell. "Afterward I found your father who told me the fire was created by a demon he was tracking to kill. I could not care for her, he did not want her, so I took her to England and placed her with a non-magical family I knew and have watched over her the best I could since."
"I-I am sorry about your sister, our mother d-died the same way." Severus nodded, acknowledging Sam's words as Dean remained silent. "What happened to our sister, can you tell us her name?"
"She is a very sought after witch from some dark wizards, mainly due to who her friends are and her believed heritage. Dark wizards went to her home and murdered her adoptive family, I will not go into detail as it is her choice to share, but she was brutally tortured before help came...She can no longer stay in our world without attracting her attackers, and although she would be in danger with you as well, I would rather her not be at the forefront of war, which is where she'll be if she remains." He watched as Sam and Dean shared a look before Dean spoke to him.
"When do we leave?" He asked
"We must leave now and will be gone for a week, please collect your belongings, if you have a vehicle I can shrink it and transport it with us." At Dean's horrified expression Severus sneered. "No danger will come to the vehicle and it will remain in your baggage until we return, now pack, we have no time to waste." And with that they were off.
.~.~.~.~.~.Hermione Granger.~.~.~.~.~.
Hermione sighed as she ran a brush through her hair, or what was left of it at least, she had Madam Pomfrey cut it yesterday into a short pixie cut. never again would her hair become a weakness in a fight. Plus no one would recognize her immediately now. Looking into the mirror she felt herself tear up at her appearance, and the memories associated with the marks. Her left eye had yellow bruising along with her neck, and from her right eye straight towards her ear were three slightly pink and puckered claw marks. She was told the claw marks on her face and body would never vanish, a permanent reminder of the worst night of her life. She also had large slashes up and down her whole body that would never fade. Shaking the memories from her head she stood and checked her shoulder bag. The headmaster came by earlier that morning to inform her that her brothers would be coming to collect her and for the week leading up to her leaving for America, they would be hiding in a safe house. Brothers, it was weird thinking she had one let alone two and an uncle, her adoptive mother had told her that they were thinking of adopting another child when the death eaters attacked. Now here she was being thrown back into a family that may not even want anything to do with her. She knew her father didn't want her, her uncle informed her of such when he told her the truth, but her brothers were more than likely not aware of her existence, which made her grateful for taking her in. After the attack she had been informed of her heritage by her uncle, Professor Snape, and having already known she was adopted, didn't take long to accept the truth. Being told she had to go into hiding however, that was a hard pill to swallow, bloody hell she was a gryffindor, home of the brave, and she was forced to hide. well she wouldn't do it with her tail between her legs that's for sure, she'd train and learn to fight and even how to do wandless magic, and she would protect the last of her family with her dying breath. Now all she had to do was meet them, easy enough...right? sighing in frustration, she slung her backpack onto her shoulder and turned just in time to greet the headmaster who was now entering the hospital wing.
"How are you my dear? all packed?" He asked.
"Yessir, I will still be able to say goodbye to Harry and the Weasleys before I leave right?" His smile faded slightly at the tremble in her voice.
"Of course Hermione, we shall introduce you to your brothers today, and for the next three days we will be making arrangements, and setting some protection, then I will bring them to the safe house for your last three nights there before we send you off." She nodded and followed him to the floo in the matron's office. "Now repeat after me the safe house of hermione granger-snape-winchester is at 55 Buckleberry Square." After ensuring she had the right address she threw the floo powder and shouted her destination. She tumbled out of a dusty fireplace and stepped out of the way for Dumbledore who stepped out more gracefully. She looked around and noticed they were in a large living area. Large plush red couches were surrounding a mahogany coffee table in front of the fireplace. She didn't really want to explore so sat on the love seat by the full length couch. she watched as Dumbledore started casting what she believed to be protective wards, after a while she ended up falling asleep.
"POP!" Hermione jumped up wide awake at the sound and whipped her wand out shooting a spell before scanning the area only lowering her arm when she saw that Dumbledore wasn't alarmed by the newcomers, she lowered her wand but didn't put it away. Her uncle was leaning against the door frame and she could tell he was weak, more than likely from international travel, it could drain your magic quickly. There was an upturned table and a man was laughing at the one on the floor who she attacked. It took her a moment to understand but she realized that these must have been her brother's and one of them was laying on the floor glaring at the other. The one standing had short messy brown hair and green eyes, he wore a navy green jacket over a black shirt with blue jeans and tan work boots. The one on the floor had shaggy shoulder length brown hair and green eyes too, he was wearing a dark grey jacket over a black shirt with dark blue jeans and tan work boots. The first thing she noticed about him when he stood up was how tall he was, he towered over her by almost two full feet.
"You're lucky, lately I've been having trouble controlling my magic, at least it wasn't a deadly curse."
"Well she reacts like a Winchester, shoot first apologize never. Hermione right?" She nodded and put her wand in her pocket before sitting down. "Ok well i'm Dean and this giant over here is Sam."
"Hermione Gran... Um, who am I now?" she asked, partially to herself and to Dumbledore. "I can't keep my parents name can I, if I'm going to pretend to be dead?" All the men seemed to share a look before the Headmaster responded.
"You can no longer keep your current last name, nor can you for obvious reasons take on the Snape name until after the war, your options are to either take on the Winchester name or a new one of your choosing." Hermione sighed and pulled her knees up to her chest before resting her chin on them. Sam noticed she had silent tears running down her face and sat down next to her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"I know it hurts, we lost our mom when we were young, it doesn't go away but the pain and grief do lessen, and after a while you'll find that you can think of them without crying and remember the good times you had with them." Hermione smiled and wiped her eyes.
"Thank you." she said.
"Booze helps too." Dean cut in, smiling at her chuckle. "How about it kid, wanna be a Winchester, you have as much right to the name as we do?" She chuckled and gave a teary nod. She looked around and noticed that her uncle kept glaring at the boys.
"Miss Grang-Winchester I am going to be building you a new identity, new school records and, due to your situation and needing to be protected from any wizarding detection I will be removing the trace on you and give you a few books I have on different kinds of magic as you will be unable to attend school. Since you were born in America we won't have to change much, just your last name."
"You do understand that if she's with us she will have to learn to hunt, otherwise she'll be in constant danger, and could also put us," Dean pointed to himself and Sam who was now leaning on the arm of a recliner. "in danger too." Hermione knew that she'd have to learn to fight, her uncle explained to her what hunters did and she was determined to get stronger, but it seemed as though the Headmaster was hoping for something else. He seemed saddened by the thought of her having to fight.
"Although I abhor the thought of any child having to fight, Hermione has had to fight since she entered our world, and I don't see that ending anytime soon. As long as she is agreeable to what you decide, then I have no right to interfere." Hermione stood up to hug him when the room spun and she immediately sat back down grabbing her head. Dean and Sam both ran to her, Sam kneeling in front of her and Dean sitting next to her. They both noticed for the first time the marks on her face and how sickly she looked.
"Woah hey take it easy kid," Dean moved her hair out of her face and glared at the two wizards in the room. "What the hell happened to her?"
"I don't...I can't say it, Prof.-Uncle...Can-can you.?" Dean wrapped his arm around Hermione when she started choking up. Sam got up and sat on her other side, he looked at her closely when no one was looking. She had brown hair with natural blonde highlights, cut short, freckles ran along her cheeks and button nose, and her eyes were dark brown with a gold ring. He could see the family resemblance in the shape of her jaw, hair and almond shaped eyes. otherwise he believed she took more from her mother. He noticed the marks on her face, it made him angry that something would do this to a kid, he also noticed when he leaned back that there were marks on her back, he could only see a few puckered lines on the base of her neck sticking out the top of her shirt. He looked towards her uncle and listened to what happened to his sister.
"Everything? Are you sure?" Severus asked, he waited for her to nod before crossing the room and sitting to speak . He stared at the wall behind the Winchesters and began to recount what happened. "When we found her, she was not able to speak, so I had to look into her mind to see her memories. Sometimes I wish I hadn't, I'm just going to give you a summary of what happened because what they did to her was horrible." Hermione was surprised to see her professor get emotional and blink away tears. "She was with her mother and father eating dinner when they came. Death Eaters, dark wizards, surrounded the house before breaking in. her mother grabbed a knife and was cursed with a crucio, a torture curse that feels like hot fiery knives stabbing you everywhere. Her father grabbed Hermione and pushed her behind him but was hit with a curse and flew into a wall. She didn't have her wand on her and was captured. They tortured her with magic and with knives, trying to get information out of her, trying to get her to trap Harry Potter, her best friend and the dark lord's enemy. but she wouldn't budge. Then they made her watch as they tortured her mother, they cursed her father with Imperius, a mind control curse and had him kill her mother before killing himself. She was left to the mercy of the Death Eaters." he paused and looked up at the ceiling before looking back at the boys. "They took turns torturing and assaulting her before leaving her for dead and an image of the dark mark carved into her stomach." Dean wanted to get up, punch something or scream, but when Hermione burrowed into his side and started to cry, he awkwardly hugged her instead and glared at the wall. Sam stood and started pacing around the room.
"This is why you need us to take her, because if they find out she's alive then she'll become an even bigger target?" Sam asked.
"More so because I can Identify all the death eaters that attacked me, they took off their masks when they.. Attacked." Hermione sat up and crossed her arms hugging herself.
"Miss- Hermione not only saw suspected members but also high ranking members of our society, all of which would kill to stay unknown. Also being so close to young Mr. Potter makes her the perfect bait for Voldemort '' Dumbledore said. "I will be reporting your death tomorrow morning to The Prophet but tonight I must inform the Weasleys and Harry so they won't be caught unawares. Good day Hermione, Boys. Come Severus we must depart." Hermione watched as the Headmaster Floo'd out and gave a weak smile to her Uncle as he soon followed.
"Anyone else bloody hungry?" Hermione asked the boys.
"Fuck yes! Got any pie?" Dean asked to the amusement of his brother and sister. Their pain and fury set aside a moment to bond.
.~.~.~.Three Days Later.~.~.~.
"Oh bloody hell, DEAN HAVE YOU SEEN MY BAG?" Hermione stood at the top of the stairs yelling over the railing half dressed in a large nightgown and robe. Dean came walking out of the kitchen with a plate of half eaten apple pie, the rest having been stuffed into his mouth, after swallowing his spoke.
"Ask Sammy, he was examining your Mary Poppins purse earlier." She nodded in thanks and turned around to walk towards the room Sam was staying in. The past few days were hard, her still dealing with her parents death and her brothers having to adjust to having a sister. She learned that Sam loved to read everything, like her, he even made a small dent into her extended library the Headmaster and her uncle provided her the other day. She saw a bit of herself in both brothers, Sam was the academic, always fishing for more knowledge. He was also the more logical of the two and liked making plans almost as much as her. Dean on the other hand was the more gruff of the two, he like her was very passionate and headstrong and above all stubborn. Hermione could tell that had they gone to Hogwarts, Dean would have been a Gryffindor and Sam a Ravenclaw. She knocked on Sam's door before entering when he called out. She sighed when she saw him leaning into her backpack, half his body disappearing into the bag.
"I need to get dressed before everyone gets here, may I have my things back you git." He pulled himself out of her bag looking sheepish and handed it to her, cringing when a loud crash was heard coming from the bag. "Ask before you go noseying about my things." she said before yanking the bag from his hand and storming to her room. She took her wand and summoned her clothing, her friends would be confused by her choice of clothing, having only seen her in uniforms, t-shirts and jeans and the occasional skirt, but the past few years she had started to dress differently when she would go home for the summer, leaning more towards the way her older cousin Alyssa dressed. Looking in the mirror she held up two shirts and tossed one onto the bed haphazardly. She changed and put everything back into her bag before going downstairs. She ran down the stairs and into the kitchen to grab a hot cup of tea before one of her brothers decided to 'help' and add sugar to her drink. taking a seat she waved at Dean as he joined her with a cup of coffee in his hand.
"I can't wait till we get to America and I can get some god damned beer." He said, she shook her head at him and sipped her tea. After a while he looked at her and when he realized what she was wearing raised an eyebrow. The past few days all she had worn were pajamas, so it must have been a slight shock to see her in something else. Let alone wearing black combat boots over dark gray cargo pants and a black fishnet long sleeve shirt over a black tank top. Aside from not wearing makeup other than mascara she looked punk-goth, her hair spiked up and chains hanging from her pants, which he realized was connected to something in her pocket that had an outline resembling that of a brass knuckle. "Expecting trouble, kid?" she shrugged at his question.
"You can never be too prepared. I have a knife in each boot and my wand attached to my forearm holster which is invisible to all but me."
"Good start but you still have a ways to go, you'll get there though." He gulped the last of his coffee and stood, waiting for her to finish her drink and join him. They walked into the entrance hall to await her friend's arrival. She asked both of her brothers to join her as she didn't know how everyone was going to react about what happened and her leaving to become a hunter. She had a feeling Mrs. Weasley was going to say something, and more than likely Ron too. She was also nervous about what they would say to her brothers, they barely knew each other but they were family and all she had now, she wouldn't let anyone talk down to them. Sam was already sitting on the couch with a book in his hand, looking closely she realized it was one of hers, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and smiled. He couldn't resist reading all he could about her world, and she knew she couldn't wait to read about theirs. She sat down next to him and waved Dean to join them on her other side. She couldn't handle people touching her just yet, but for some reason she was instantly comfortable with her brothers and even craved their attention. Maybe it was because they were family, or because they didn't look at her with pity after hearing what happened to her, but she was grateful when they would wrap their arms around her and tuck her into their sides. Dean pulled out one of his guns, a revolver she believed and began cleaning it with a cloth as she leaned in close to Sam to read over his shoulder as he read. She must have fallen asleep on his shoulder as the next thing she remembered, Dean was shaking her awake and the fire was turning green, signaling a Floo arrival. She quickly stood up and watched as the Headmaster was the first to arrive soon followed by the Weasley's and Harry. Mrs. Weasley went to hug her and pulled back awkwardly when Hermione backed up, fear in her eyes and hugged herself tight. Both boys jumped up protectively and stood on both sides of her staring everyone down.
"Oh Hermione, I'm so sorry about your parents." She said, "When Professor Dumbledore told us what happened I begged him to bring you to the burrow but he said you needed protection and would be staying with family abroad." Hermione didn't like how Mrs. Weasley was staring at her brothers, like they were dirt under her shoes.
"Yes Mrs. Weasley the-"
"Molly dear."
"yeah, uh, Molly, these are my biological brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, I was adopted so I'll be staying with my birth family now." Mrs. Weasley was going to respond when she was cut off by Ron.
"Wait, you're adopted? why didn't you tell us?" He asked. Hermione sat down with her brothers as the Headmaster summoned more chairs for everyone. All at once Ginny, Ron, and the Weasley twins started to talk over one another, Harry being the only quiet teen of the group, just watching Hermione closely.
"Yeah we're your best friends!"
"How could you not tell us?"
"Why were you put up for adoption?" On and on they kept yelling over one another until Dean saw how upset Hermione was and whistled loudly to quiet everyone.
"Look, first of all, whether your friends or not its none of your fucking business what she chooses to tell you or not, and second of all, the next person that starts to upset her is getting my fist in their face." Dean glared at them all as he spoke and Hermione wanted to laugh at Mrs. Weasley's offended expression at his choice of words.
"Now see you here young man you-" She was soon cut off by Harry laughing hysterically.
"You guys must be related, you sound just like her when she's mad, only she rarely curses and would threaten her wand." He said before facing the Weasleys. "He's right, it's not our business if she doesn't want to tell us, all I care about is that she is safe and as far away as possible." Turning back to Hermione his expression softened. "I'm so sorry Hermione, if it wasn't for me you wouldn't have been hurt."
"That's not true, I'm a muggleborn, remember, they would have attacked me eventually."
"I guess, by the way, I like what you did with your hair, very punkish." They continued to talk for a bit as the Headmaster and Mr. and Mrs. Wealsey left to speak in the kitchen. The entire time neither of her brothers left her side. After a while, Hermione got tired of Ron staring at her and snapped.
"What is your problem Ronald?"
"Why do you have to leave?" He asked. "Why can't you stay with us, what can these two muggles do to protect you that we can't?" Sam was going to speak when Hermione grabbed his arm and shook her head, she knew Ron was just worried about her.
"First of all, no one will know where I am, even the Headmaster. Secondly, these 'Muggles' are hunters and have killed more monsters than most of our Aurors have. Trust me, they can handle themselves." The twins stared at her brothers in shock before speaking.
"Wait so you'll be training..." George.
"As an arse kicking..." Fred.
"Monster Slaying..." George.
"Hunter, while we waste our..." Fred.
"Time at school?" George.
"Wicked!" They both yelled. All the teens laughed and even her brothers joined in.
"Ok so Sam, Dean, and I have our own rooms at the top of the stairs to the left for the next few days. There are an additional four rooms to the right, so everyone will have to share except for Ginny for the next few nights. The biggest one is for your parents and the smallest for Ginny since she's not sharing." Everyone nodded and left to put their things in their rooms. Harry was the last to go and he stared down her brothers before speaking.
"You two may be her brother's by blood, but I'm her brother by choice and if you ever hurt her, you'll be dealing with me." Both boys nodded and were glad she had another person on her team protecting her. Looking towards Hermione he smiled and asked if she was comfortable accepting a hug from him, she nodded and stood to hug him. "I am always here for you, if you need anything, you let me know ok?" He whispered into her ear and loosened his hold when she nodded. The following days flew by in a blur, everyone trying to spend as much time with her as possible. Mrs. Weasley would lecture her on her choice of clothes and at the same time push her to eat more because she was just 'skin and bones', Mr. Weasley would question the boys on all things muggle, although when he learned about Dean's car that was all he could talk about for the last two days. Dean was constantly trying to hide from him as he kept trying to convince him to charm his baby to fly, or turn invisible. Dean and Sam would switch between hanging out with Hermione and her friends and the adults in the house. Dean seemed to get along best with Harry and the Twins, whereas Sam enjoyed his time with Harry, Ron, and Ginny. They enjoyed learning more about their sister and teaching them some defensive moves. Sam enjoyed speaking with Arthur and Professor Dumbledore, mainly because they understood the Muggle world more than the others and could help him understand the more advanced magical topics. Dean preferred Molly's home cooking, especially her pie's and Snape's no nonsense attitude and information about the different types of magic that can assist in a spent at least three hours the past few days teaching the teens what they could, hand to hand, to protect each other, knowledge in non-magical monsters and when Molly wasn;t around, how to hustle if they ever found themselves in a tight space. Everyone enjoyed their time together but knew it was short lived. It was the last day and Hermione was currently waiting for the Headmaster to arrive so they could leave for America. She knew Dean couldn't wait to leave and watch TV and drink some beer and she was excited to start hunting. She was wearing black skinny jeans, a red t-shirt under a black leather jacket. Dean and Sam were going to take her shopping in America when they got back since she didn't have much with her after the attack and couldn't stomach going back home to get more. Her uncle would send her some more of her things and put the rest into storage for her until she was able to return. She had a knife in each boot and her wand in her harness. She jumped up from the couch when the Headmaster came through the Floo and she turned towards Harry and her friends.
"I'm going to miss you guys so much." she said. "Harry, give Sirius my best and be careful, Ron please keep your studies up. you guys are my family too, please be safe and look after each other." She gave everyone a hug and tearful goodbye before grabbing onto the Headmasters portkey with her brothers and vanishing.
.~.~.~.~.~.~.
Hermione landed gracefully from the portkey next to the Headmaster and smiled in greeting at her uncle as the boys fell over one another cursing and trying to get out the jumbled mess they made.
"Get off me!" They yelled as they wrestled one another before Sam, being the taller one, was able to throw Dean off him and stand. He dusted himself off and greeted her uncle as well.
"Hello Sir, so um where are we?" He asked, looking around. They were standing in the middle of an atrium, people walking around them with floating chests and pets in cages. To Sam it was as though he stepped into some kind of fantasy movie, and even though they witnessed some magic at the safe house this was on a whole new level.
"Well we can't just portkey into any dingey hotel, this is a portkey station, allows you to portkey statewide and internationally. Currently we are in Centerville Iowa, when we walk outside I will unshrink your car and leave you." Hermione and her brothers followed both of them outside, the atrium led to an empty alleyway. Soon the car was free and the boys were waiting for her inside as she spoke to her uncle and the Headmaster. She bid farewell to the Headmaster who left her with all her legal documents and transcripts in case she needed them. Soon she was alone with her uncle who although awkward and stiff, gave her a hug and left. She walked to the car and slid into the backseat.
"Everything ok kid?" Dean asked.
"Yes, in fact..." she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small bag. Inside the magical bag were several illegal potions and spellbooks, several spare wands, two animagus books, a potion book that claimed to be the property of The Half-Blood Prince, and another which looked to be the Prince family Grimoire. In another part of the bag was a pocket full of American bills from her adoptive family's life insurance, her inheritance having been placed in a locked account until she was 18. There was also a black credit card. Next to the card was a note that told her that the card was for emergencies and would remove funds from a separate Gringotts account provided by her uncle. Looking into the rearview mirror she gave her brother a smirk and leaned back into the seat. Her uncle just gave a huge boost to her training. "I couldn't be better."
