Chapter four

The Dolphins carrying the surviving passengers and the Moskowitz family, while easily cutting through the waves that were created by the storm. It was so intense that the survivors were forced to close their eyes when sea water splashed into their faces. The dolphins that were either carrying them or guarding them seemed to be doing fine swimming through the stormy water. Soon, the waves started to calm down as the storm clouds began to clear up to show a slowly growing sunlight as well. The passengers then opened their eyes and began to calm down as well, which also included the Moskowitz family. They all felt the worst of the storm slowly vanishing over their heads.

"Papa, What is going on?" Asked Fievel.

"I think the storm is over." Bernard answered.

"Look!" Shouted Tanya as she looked ahead. "I think I see land up ahead!"

"Me too." Replied Alla.

She and Tanya were right for up ahead was an island. The survivors all seemed relieved when they saw that it was not too far from them. They then realized that the island was where the dolphins were taking them. Somewhere that they could be safe for now. Soon, the survivors were able to feel their feet touch something in the water. It turned out to be the sandy bottom of water's shallows, and in no time at all, the survivors found themselves resting on the beach of the island. Fievel and his family were the last ones to walked out of the waters of the ocean. Once they were on land, Fievel collapsed onto the sand with his family and laid on his back as he let out an exhausted sigh. His family also let out a collective sigh of both exhaustion and relief. Once all of the survivors were on land, the dolphins turned and disappeared back into the depths of the ocean. The survivors and the Moskowitz family sat for a minute to catch their breath before Bernard spoke.

"And here I thought traveling to America would be a quiet journey."

"Apparently not," spoke Alla with a look of displeasure.

Fievel, after catching his breath, sat up from the sand and began to take in his surroundings. At first, he only saw the beach until the young child looked behind him. What the child saw had him blinking in surprise and wonder. Standing behind Fievel was a large, thick jungle with trees that he had never seen before in his life. Except for the jungles of India that he and his family had gone to after escaping Russia. Fievel wasn't the only one who noticed the jungle though. The survivors of the ship and his family had also taken notice as well. Some of the survivors stared at the jungle in curiosity, while others stared at it uneasily.

"Where are we, Papa?" Fievel asked.

"I don't know, Fievel." Answered Bernard.

Tanya turned to look at her mother before she asking her own question.

"Do you think we're in America, Mama?"

"I am not sure, Tanya." Alla answered after she gained enough strength to stand up, while cradling Yasha in her arms.

After staring at the jungle for a moment, the Moskowitz family and the survivors began to figure out what they should do next. They soon came to an agreement that some of the survivors would stay on the beach, while the other half of the group would explore the rest of the beach. Yasha, Tanya and Alla decided to stay behind with a small group of survivors, who would stay and rest a little on the beach, while making campfires for the night.

Bernard, Fievel and the rest of the survivors then walked into the jungle to see what they would find in there. The group trekked through the jungle, while sticking close together just in case they ran into any danger. As they walked, Fievel couldn't help but look around in awe at the jungle that he and his father were roaming through. Never in his life had Fievel ever seen such a strange place before. Not to mention hearing the strange sounds of bird calls resounding throughout the jungle. Some of the birds sounds were musical and cheerful to him, while other bird calls sent shivers down the young boy's spine. Fievel gripped at the legging of his father's pants as he stuck close to him. Bernard noticed this and he looked down at his son with a reassuring smile on his face.

"Do not worry," spoke Bernard in a gentle voice. "As long as we stick together, we'll be alright."

Fievel looked up at his father and returned the smile, though his showed to be more nervous then anything else. The group continued their trek through the jungle before coming to a halt a minute later.

"We should probably head back," spoked one of the men within the group. "It's going to get dark soon, and I don't want to find out what comes out at night within these parts."

The other men also voiced their agreement to the first man's suggestion. They were getting tired and they didn't want to travel too far from the beach, only to get lost later when nightfall came around. The group jumped slightly when a loud caw cried out through the jungle. Fievel, who had been the most surprised by the sound, clung tightly to his father's leg. Bernard gently petted his son on the head to calm him down. After taking a second to collect themselves, the group turned and started to head back the way they came. It took a while to get back to beach, but the group were relieved to be out of the unknown jungle. It didn't take long for Bernard and Fievel to find Tanya, Alla and Yasha. The three were all sitting round a small fire that they had started only a few minutes ago.

Bernard and Fievel made their way over to the three females of their family and sat down beside them. After they did, Fievel began to tell his mother and sister about what was inside the jungle. He told them about some of the bird calls he had heard, but other than there wasn't really anything interesting to see within the jungle. The sun slowly began to set within the sky. As it did, the sky began to turn pink with a bit a red and orange following close behind it. It was a lovely sight to behold. The survivors turned their gazes to look at the changing colors within the sky. The Moskowitz also watch the setting of the sun as well. They continued to watch for a bit before the survivors began to grow drowsy. A while later, some of the survivors decided to head for bed early. For some, they wanted to get a head start in hopes of getting a good night's sleep. Though some stayed up as they discuss what they should do tomorrow. The Moskowitz family were one of the few to stay up for a while. Though for Fievel and Tanya, they were close to falling asleep as they leaned against their mother and father to keep themselves warm. Yasha wasn't too far behind as she let out small yawn before falling asleep within her mother's arms. Bernard and Alla gazed down at their two children for a while, before they began to talk quietly to each other. They started talking about what to do tomorrow, when they were interrupted by the sound of movement from within the jungle. The sound woke up Fievel, Yasha and the rest of the survivors as they all became alert to the sudden noise that rustled within the jungle. They all grew tense when the sound started to grow louder and louder! The Moskowitz family and the survivors quickly got up, and stood close together as they got ready for whatever was going to come out of the jungle

Then, after a minute of tense waiting, the survivors watched as two creatures came lumbering out of the jungle. They had large frills on their heads and three horns as well with skin of a reptile. One horn was on their noses and the other two horns were on top of their eyes. One of the two creatures had dark brown skin with a light cream stomach, while the other one was a light green with a dark patch on its back.

The group could not believe their eyes at what they were looking at. Standing in front of the survivors were real, breathing dinosaurs! They were Chasmosaurus to be correct. For a while, the survivors stared at the two dinosaurs before they noticed a boy and a girl walking out from behind the Chasmosaurus duo.

The boy looked to be around sixteen yeas old with short shaggy brown hair, hazel green eyes and fair skin with a few freckles on his cheeks. He was wearing a brown, long sleeved shirt with a dark brown vest over top, light tan pants and flat heel leather brown boots. Around the boy's waist was a dark brown waist belt.

The girl that was standing beside the boy looked to be around fifteen. She had long, light brown hair that was tied into a half ponytail, chestnut brown eyes and was also fair skinned like the boy. She wore a light green, long sleeved dress with a forest green, short sleeved overtunic that looked to be in the style of the middle ages, and leather brown sandals. Around the girl's waist was a dark green sash belt, with white leaves stitched upon its surface.

The boy and girl stared at the survivors in surprise, while Fievel, his family and the other members of their group gazed at the two youngsters in shock. All was silent upon the beach as the two parties stared at each other. For a while, nobody spoke or moved, but that soon changed as things became even more mysterious.
