Hello,
This my first ever fanfic or story for that matter. It takes place after Riven leaves the group in season 6, I've always felt like Riven had a lot to offer story wise and just needs to be fleshed out more. I hope you enjoy.
P.s non of the characters are owned by me.
Chapter 1. First steps to change.
It was already dark outside when Riven had finished packing his things. He decided to only take things that could either help him get out of a bind or if it was an essential, Riven never had anything of sentimental value as his childhood was a time in his life he would prefer to forget. In addition to packing he had also cleaned his area and discarded anything that didn't belong to the room when he had first moved in. Just as he had closed his bag he heard the door open and turned around to see who it was. He saw the faces of Timmy and Brandon, who had come to say their last goodbyes. Timmy sighed as he looked at his roommates now empty side of the room. Posters had been taken off the walls, some had been there for so long that the paint color no longer matched the current shade of blue years of sunlight had given it "This room is gonna be pretty quiet without you Riven" Moving next to him, Riven wrapped an arm around his shoulder "Promise me you won't enjoy it too much" with a joking grin on his face. his grin softened and his eyes shifted to the ground. "Ey Tim... thanks for putting up with me" he said with a more grateful tone to his voice. "I know I haven't always been the best roommate, so uh... thanks..." Timmy chuckled as he released Riven's grip. "Having you as a roommate was actually kinda fun at times, besides.. who's gonna remind me to take a break from me computer once in a while? Though I'd wish you weren't so creative with your methods" "Ah ha! Remind you to take a break from your computer? Is that what you call him covering open doorways with clear tape and watching you walk right in it, for a whole week straight? Said a laughing Brandon as he rummaged through the items Riven had discarded. Timmy gave Riven a cold glare, "ugh, that was you?! I was paranoid of doors for weeks!" "Hehe.. like I said, I haven't always been the best roommate" Timmy simply smiled and admitted that Riven had got him good, though something about his smile made Riven feel uncomfortable. Now wrapping his arm around Brandon's shoulder he said " Hey, you're as much as a prankster as I am. So naturally I expect you to step in for me. The two laughed as the three of them stood in embrace of each another. "I guess I should start leaving soon... where are the others?" "Oh, that's just it... we're suppose to come get you, they're waiting outside for you." Said Timmy while adjusting his glasses. "Ok? Any particular reason for that?" He suddenly felt a nudge from Brandon. "Just get out there man..trust me" as he cleaned the dirt off a warrior figurine, he winked at Riven and gave him a thumbs up. "I can keep this right?" "Sure, I threw it out for a reason"
The three specialists made there way to the main deck of Red Fountain, where they found the rest of the specialists standing in front of something. He couldn't make out what it was, but Riven already got the feeling that they had something in store for him. "I see you're all ready to go" said the blond prince. "Yeah, just about" Hilia stepped forward. "I hope you find what you're looking for my friend" he placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't forget us ok?" "Ah what? I can never forget you guys, you guys are like the brothers I never had, I might actually miss your sorry asses" Nex laughed as he approached the two "good to know, don't you dare hesitate to call us if your sorry ass gets in trouble" he said returning the sarcastic compliment. "Alright, alright" said prince Sky as he regained control of the group. "All jokes aside, we really are gonna miss you Riven. The team just isn't gonna be the same without you, we hope to see you again." Riven felt a bit embarrassed that his friends were being so sincerely nice to him, instead of the usual sarcastic banter they always had going on. "Alright already guys, enough mush.. I know you guys wanted me out here for more than just sappy goodbyes" he said with an embarrassed smile. "Right" as Sky grabbed him by the shoulder in order to position him in the right place, the boys revealed what they were hiding from him. Pushing up his glasses, Timmy cleared his throat, "the guys and I thought you'd rather get to your point A to B in a way that you're more use to. So with the headmaster's promotion, we... by that I mean "Hilia and I" have taken your Red Fountain assigned levi-bike and enhanced it's features, uh..along with adding some extra gadgets one may need if they found themselves in trouble. In aw Riven moved closer to the bike, admiring it's new sleek black look as Timmy and Hilia explained its new features. "We've included a larger medical kit, a compartment for all your weapons and rations and added a stealth mode" said Hilia while pointing at their work. A thoughtful look came across Riven's face, as he thought that was a bit much. "Stealth mode? Whoa, guys... I'm not gonna be looking for trouble, I just..." before he could finish his sentence he felt Brandon pat him hard on the back. " HAHA, come on man you never know when it might come in handy. Besides, you're Riven...trouble follows you around like a love struck puppy" he said with a smug look. "Heheh I am reeeaally gonna miss you buddy" said Riven, insuring the sarcasm in he's voice was clearly delivered. Patting him once more on the back, Brandon let out another laugh "chill out man, I'm only kidding" "Uh...not to be the killjoy or anything, but I'd like to finish telling you about the bike, if you two don't mind." Said a focused Timmy as he held a tablet in his hands. "Alright Timmy, what else you got for me?" Said Riven with a slight chuckle. Looking down at the tablet the technologies expert of the group continued with his list of gadgets. "The bike's stealth mode actually has two settings, the first one gives the bike more of a mat finish incase the user is only trying to be less conspicuous while still in the open. The second option on the other hand is the absolute definition of stealth, we're talking a completely silenced engine, cloaking technology and of course, built in tracking systems. And last but not least, your helmet is now also equipped with night vision and infrared technology . "Damn man, that is awesome. I can't wait to test this baby out!" Eagerly Riven jumped on the bike and instantly felt his adrenaline pumping as he heard the sweet sound of the engine roaring to life, before Timmy could speak again Riven had already left this friends standing in a cloud of dust.
"Did I mention that it could go up to 350 miles per hour?" Said Timmy wide eyed to the rest of the guys, who seemed to be sharing the same expression. "A thank you would've been nice" said Brandon while starting at the silo-wet in the distance. "Well, considering that its Riven we're talking about, I'd say... that was a huge thank you" said Hilia as he brushed the dust off his clothes. Sky now coughing from the dust commented that using the nature deck for the surprise did not turn out to be such a good idea after all. "aww man, now I seriously want one, it's incredibly cool!" said Nex as he rubbed the dust from his eyes and threw his arms in the air. "Actually, I got permission to upgrade all our bikes" said the blond prince."Sky!, tell me you're not kidding" said an over the moon Nex. "No, we got approved right after the approval for Riven's bike came in." Sky suddenly felt a pare of eyes burning at the back of his skull, he turned around to find an annoyed Timmy glaring at him. "And when exactly were you gonna tell me that?" Said Timmy through gritted teeth. "Oh-uh... e-eventually?" Stuttered Sky, as he realized his recently overbearing princely duties had made him completely forget to tell the teams mechanic about the authorization. Timmy sighed in defeat. "I'll start on it tomorrow, it's getting way to late to do anything right now."
A few minutes had passed and Riven had returned from his test run. "Woohoo! That is the most alive I've felt in a while! I appreciate it fellas" "listen Riven it's getting late, are you sure you don't want to stay for one more night and leave in the morning?" Said Sky as he laid a hand on his shoulder. "Nah, I'm sure.. besides I already said goodbye to everyone, it'd be weird..." "Alright then, where you going? Riven shifted his eyes to the ground. "I'm not exactly sure but, lately I've been thinking about somethings in my life from before I came to Red Fountain. Maybe it's time I go back and face my past, it's no secret that I have some stuff to work through." He said as he turned his gaze back to the group. Brandon looked at his magenta haired friend, knowing he had been struggling to find content with his ranking at the school. "Riven you know you're a great specialist, right?" Riven let out a scoff that sounded more of sadness, with a slight hint of anger mixed together. He looked up to the dark cold sky. "That's just it, I'm suppose to be proud of everything I've accomplished, and I am… or at least I was for a short while… I'm tired of it" he said, the last bit with frustration to hid his sadness "I need it to change, I want to stop asking myself when am I going to be enough for myself and just not care about it… I.. I need to do this."Sky stepped forward "you go do whatever you have to man, and let us know if you ever need us, okay?" "I will, thanks Sky, thank you... all of you... for everything." As they helped him with his bag to the bike, they waved their friend off till only his silo-wet could be seen.
I tried to keep the characters as close as I could in personality. But I also wanted to show their friend dynamics, I guess how I think it would be after years of friendship. (hence why I think Riven would be more open for his reason for leaving and willingness to be more sincere when needed)
I also forgot that Helia was his last roommate and not Timmy... oh well.
Please let me know what you think.
