Steven was driving down a calm road in Oregon, the sun was setting and it was getting dark, no one was around for what seemed to be miles. He drove in a calming silence knowing that he would need to stop soon. He had been on the road for around 2 months now.

Steven had a pink coat with a white shirt and a yellow star and dark blue genes. The back of his hair looked like a rose although it was hard to see due to his dark brown hair. Embedded in his hair were two light pink crystalline horns; they were short and stubby but still a decent size.

It had just turned dark at the shack. Dipper and Mabel were hanging out on the old couch outside on the porch. Dipper was wearing an orange tee shirt and a dark blue vest with blue shorts, and Mabel was wearing a pink sweater with a shooting star on it with a skirt. Dipper was reading the journal he found 3 days ago and he had a different book next to him so in case Stan came out he could hide the journal.

Two days ago Dipper and Mabel had a run-in with the gnomes. Mabel was working on a new sweater that was white with a rainbow on it. She was sewing the rainbow on.

Stan walked outside to join them; he had a pit cola.

Whatcha reading there, "Stan asked as he took a sip".

Dipper replied, "I'm reading a mystery book," as he quickly grabbed it and opened it.

"yea like a nerd," Mabel said.

It had become dark and Steven turned on his headlights. He was looking for a place to stop when he saw a sign saying: Mystery Shack 0.2 mile up ahead. Mystery shack Steven thought, sounds like a tourist attraction, maybe I can find a parking spot there!

He peered into the darkness to see a large shadow up ahead, something large with yellow eyes. Steven had no time to react. He had locked eyes with the creature.

He started reliving the moment in the throne room where Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl were all drained of life, being bleach-white. He felt White lift him up, he heard her haunting voice say "it's time to come out pink." Before anything else could happen he shook out of the trance.

Steven was glowing pink before he knew it and as he collided with the creature he created a bubble forcing himself out of his car, and busting through the metal. He was launched a good 5 meters away from the crash; as the car burst into flames.

Dipper, Mabel, and Stan heard a large crash out on the main road.

"What was that?" Dipper and Mabel said in perfect unison.

"Someone probably crashed, we need to go now dawg!" As Soos popped out the window holding a screwdriver.

The four ran as fast as they could seeing the full-scale damage. There was a crashed car and an unconscious teenager. Unknown to them this was Steven Universe savior of the galaxy along with one of the 4 galactic space emperors.

"Soos!" Stan yelled as he walked to the unconscious boy, "help me with this kid!"

"Coming Mr. Pines!" Soos yelled back.

"Dipper, Mabel!" Yelled Stan, "Go get the hose and put this fire out, before it gets to the trees!"

Dipper and Mabel looked at the wreck, seeing the fire scorching the grass.

Stan and Soos picked up Steven and started carrying him back to the shack. Dipper and Mabel had grabbed the hose and drenched the fire until it was just smoke.

Meanwhile, Stan and Soos had placed Steven on the couch and placed a fluffy blanket on him. Steven was resting peacefully and breathing fine and to Stan's surprise, he had minor injuries.

Mabel walked inside as Dipper put up the hose.

"Will he be ok?" Mable asked, looking concerned.

"He'll be fine, but he might be out for a bit," Soos replied.

It's surprising that something like this happened only in our first week here! Mabel thought to herself.

Mabel sat in a chair in the same room as Steven. The room was dark and quiet, with the only noise being Steven breathing quietly. Mabel slowly drifted off to sleep, around 10:00.

Dipper woke up early, he walked downstairs and looked into the room, and saw Mabel and Steven sleeping. Dipper walked into the kitchen and saw Stan making some soup.

"Good morning Dipper" Stan yawned looking over at him.

Dipper groaned, he was very tired, still, he grabbed some cereal and poured it into the bowl, as he dumped the last bit of milk into the cereal.

He ate it wondering where Mabel was, as he didn't see her in bed this morning. Dipper peaked into the room and saw Mabel sleeping in a chair near the new stranger sleeping on the couch peacefully. Dipper tip-toed over to Mabel and woke her up.

"Huh, what?" she said sleepily.

"Wake up sleepy head," Dipper whispered.

Dipper handed her a strawberry-flavored pop tart.

They talked for a bit as Mabel ate her pop tart when they heard a yawn coming from Steven. He woke up with a start wondering where he was.

Stan walked into the room saying" good you're awake."

Steven looked around for a short minute then said the question that was bouncing in his head, "where am I ?" He asked.

"The Mystery Shack kid!" Stan said, holding a bowl of warm soup he was soon going to eat but instead giving it to Steven.

"Thanks," Steven said quietly, eating a bite of it.

"My name is Mabel, And that's my brother Dipper, what's yours ?" she gestured to Dipper.

"Steven Universe." He responded as he slurps down another bite of soup.

"Universe?" Dipper said skeptically.

"Yes?" Steven squeaked, "my dad changed it to Universe."

"WHOA!" Mable exclaimed, "your last name is Universe?" That sounds so cool!

"Thanks," Steven said as he yawned.

Steven sat up to eat the bowl of soup without the chance of spilling it; his back started to burn with a stinging sensation. He lightly winced at the pain but tried to not bring any attention to it.

Steven made a realization, was his stuff ok? He put his hand in his pocket to notice his phone there. He sighed and checked his other one only to feel his wallet.

"Was any of my stuff saved?" Steven asked worriedly.

"Not much", Stan said, "only some clothes."

Steven sighed, "At least I still got my wallet and phone."

"Well Do you live around here?" Dipper Asked with a drip of curiosity.

"No," Steven replied," I'm from Delmarva all the way across the country.

"What is someone like you doing all the way out here?" Mabel said really wanting to know.

Steven sighed tiredly," I'm on a road trip around the country to see what I want to do with my life."

"Ok you two, today is still a work day, I bet our guest needs a bit to sort some things out," Stan explained, "so time for you two to go get to work"

"Ok", Dipper sighed.

"Last one to get to the register is a rotten egg!" Mabel yelled, running with Dipper following suit.

"I would wait a hot minute before trying to get up and do anything if I were you," Stan said," Your body will need rest for a while."

"If you say so," Steven said to himself in his head," yea your right I gotta call my family to let them know I'm ok.", he said out loud.

"You do what you need to do kid", Stan looked at him and walked out of the room closing the door behind him.

Steven sat and thought for a minute while he finished the small bowl of soup. He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and called Connie.

"Steven!" Connie exclaimed over the phone," you didn't call last night, what happened?"

"Well", Steven thought about how to word it, for a second," Something Large ran into the road in front of me and I crashed. But I'm fine now! but the car… not so much."

"Well, where are you now?" Connie said in a worried voice.

"Somewhere called the Mystery Shack," Steven continued," some people either heard or saw the crash and carried me to their house. I don't remember what happened because I was knocked out."

"Well I'm glad you're ok," Connie exclaimed, " but I would call the gems and Greg to let them know what happened."

"Ok," Steven sighed.

" I'll call back later today," Connie said in a light-hearted tone.

"Ok," Steven said, "Love you!"

"Love you too!" Connie replied as she ended the call.

Steven sighed and looked around as his head had a pounding pain in his skull knowing that he had a concussion. He licked his thumb and pressed it onto his forehead as the pain eased away.

He was caught off guard hearing his phone ring. He looked down at it seeing it was Garnet, knowing that her future vision must have seen him soon about to call them. He answered.

"Hi," Steven said in a tired voice, putting on a small smile.

"I saw you were going to call, what is it that you were needing to talk about?" Garnet replied, already trying to evaluate why he was going to call.

"Steven!" Pearl said in the background of the call while doing the dishes," haven't heard from you in a while!"

Before he could answer Amethyst chirped in," hey Ste-man!"

"Hi, Amethyst!" Steven said, perking up.

Garnet had walked over to the couch sitting down as Pearl finished up the dishes, and amethyst sat on the head of the couch.

"Why'd you call?" Amethyst said, eating some chips.

"Well…" Steven began as Pearl sat down next to Garnet,'" I was driving down a smaller road in Oregon and something had run into the road in front of me."

Before he could say another word Garnet knew what happened," and you crashed Garnet said in a more worried voice.

"Exactly," Steven sighed.

Pearl grabbed the phone overreacting " ARE YOU OK!?" she yelled.

Pearl had always been the one to prioritize Steven's safety and this time was no different.

"I'm fine, I'm not hurt but the car is now just a pile of scrap metal," Steven said calmly, trying to calm down Pearl.

Garnet took the phone back from Pearl," Pearl calm down Steven is fine and he's going to need some rest for a bit," Garnet finished.

"Yea dude you should rest for a while", Amethyst agreed.

"I know I know," Steven replied, "Connie said the same thing to me."

"Well, that's a good thing you talked to Connie," Pearl Pitched in.

"Well then I will let you go then," Steven said, nearly yawning, still feeling tired.

"Ok then," Garnet replied," get some rest and love you."

"See You dude!" Amethyst said.

Once the call ended Steven sat there thinking about what he should do now.

"The gems and Connie were right, he should rest for a while," Steven thought.

He checked his phone to see it was 10:14. He put his wallet and his phone on the small desk next to the couch and then Steven got comfy on the couch, covered himself in the fluffy blanket, and fell asleep.

It was later in the day around 6:45. The shack had closed and the sun was soon setting. Steven was still asleep being very tired after the crash.

Dipper had walked into the room seeing Steven asleep.

"Dipper, Dipper! Look at my sweater I finished!" Mabel exclaimed, being loud.

"Mabel! Be Quiet," Dipper hissed at her, "Steven is-"

Before Dipper could say anything else, they both heard a rustle and a tired groan. Steven sat up and looked around, blinking.

"Sorry!" Dipper said, "we didn't mean to wake you up!"

No, no it's fine! Steven Hastily said sitting up, "I should be up anyways."

As Steven Got comfortable while sitting down he felt a shock of pain, his back stiffened, feeling as if he had slammed into a wall repeatedly, and along with that, he knew he needed to go to the bathroom.

Dipper and Mabel Had both realized that Steven was in a multitude of pain.

Are you ok? Mabel approached Steven sitting down next to him.

Steven had bit his tongue trying to focus on something else and he replied by nodding he had also lightly crossed his legs too.

Dipper noticed his legs crossing, if you need to go to the bathroom can I show you to it? Dipper replied.

Steven nodded as he stopped biting his tongue and Mabel took his hand.

They walked out of the room and Dipper showed him around the house after Steven wrapped up in the bathroom. Steven's back was feeling better as it needed a stretch. Steven went back to the room and Mabel kept him company for the rest of the night.

It had been 4 days now.

Steven was feeling much better, Stan had put up an offer for him, Steven could have the spare room in return for him working at the mystery shack.

Steven was shown to his room. He gathered what little stuff he had left from the crash and put it down. They had gone back and looked around finding very few small things.

He looked around the small room, it felt cozy and warm with the light shining brightly from the window. The bed he has was small. It was in the corner and it was basic, it had a wood frame and a mattress. There was a small dresser in the room too. It had 2 drawers and it was black.

He folded his clothes and put them in the drawers and threw his blanket and pillow on the bed.

He remembered how surprised, but glad Stan was to see how few legal documents he had.

"So you want to apply for a job here, huh?" Stan looked up from his desk.

Steven nodded.

"Ok then, I'll need to see some legal documents."

"I only have a driver's license and a card for my health."

"Huh, so you're practically off-grid! That makes things so much easier for me."

"Ok," Steven looked a bit happier.

"Steven, you're hired!"

Steven Heard the twins outside the window. He peered over seeing Dipper chasing Mabel.

Mabel, Dipper yelled, Give it back!

In your dreams, Mabel said, sticking her tongue out.

Steven Chuckled lightly seeing them and noticing the look of the object. It was a book and it had a hand with 6 fingers and the number 3 branded on it.

Steven looked around his room and walked out. He walked down the stairs and out the door as he sat on the small couch and watched. They hadn't noticed him sitting down.

"MABEL!" Dipper shouted, "Seriously give it back!"

Dipper had knocked down Mabel, as the book was tossed across the yard. It landed near the porch as Steven sat up. He walked over to pick it up, it looked very old and dirty. It also smelled.

Dipper and Mabel quarreled with each other as Steven looked at it. His curiosity got the better of him as he opened it and flipped through seeing the catalogs of the strange creatures in Gravity Falls.

Dipper stopped seeing this as he ran over trying to get the journal back as Mabel ran after him.

Dipper instantly tried to grab it as Steven closed it and lifted it up seeing Mabel wanted to get it too.

Dipper and Mabel both asked Steven for the journal at the same time while trying to jump up and get it. Steven looked at them both not knowing who to give it to.

"Ok, ok, calm down, '' he sighed. I'll give it to whoever can tell me how you got the book and what it means.

Dipper sighed, saying "fine," despite not wanting to tell him.

Steven gave the book to Dipper as the 3 walked over to the couch.

Dipper had explained that he found it buried underground and that the book explains the paranormal, and about the encounter with the gnomes.

Dipper had wondered why Steven had seemed so calm about learning about this.

By then the sun had begun to set as the 3 walked inside seeing that Stan had already made dinner. It was pasta and it was one of Mabel's favorites to the point that she got hyped and was nearly bouncing all over the place.

The day passed with Mabel telling Steven stories about her life back at her home until they had to go to bed.
