Martin's Point of View
Something feels a bit different, I swear my bed was softer than this. Opening my eyes I see a white ceiling and greyish walls. Looking around the room, I am in something similar to a dog's bed with a few pillows in it, which is sitting on top of a desk. There is a TV on top of the dresser, and a large bed in the centre of the room with a few more furnishings. The desk is next to the dresser in the corner of the room. There is light coming through a nearby window, even with the curtains drawn, it is still a bit bright.
White bandages are covering my blue and black fur, WTF? Ok, this can't be a dream, this is way too vivid for that. Let's just take this slow, I don't appear to be in any immediate danger. Looking over this new body I notice two white protrusions, in the shape of ovals, coming out of my forearms. They look like bone, tapping them, they sound like it too. Weird.
Moving around a little, I heard a slight rustling sound. There is a diaper between my legs, it is cold and wet. Not exactly the best feeling. As I pull back the front, I am relieved to find that I am still a dude. That could have been weird. Well, hopefully, I don't need these during the day too. I do like them, but wearing them all the time can be inconvenient. I should leave it on for now just in case.
At least I am still bipedal, I should have no problem moving around. Standing up I am a little unsteady on my feet. I wonder if it is because I am tired or just not used to this body? It might be the tail sticking out the back of my diaper that is putting me off? Using the chair to help me, I climb down from the desk and walk over to the mirror, on the opposite side of the room, to get a better look at myself.
The bandages cover most of my body, excluding my head, so it is hard to see everything. I can make out a pair of pointed ears and a long, dog-like nose. It appears I was transformed into a Riolu, whatever is going on this isn't going to be boring. At least I ended up as one of my favourite Pokemon. The next thing to catch my attention is my ears twitching in the mirror, it is so weird to be able to control them independently of each other. The fur is an absolute mess, I am not looking forward to having to deal with that.
So to start off with let's see what I remember. My name is Martin Robinson, I am 27 years old and work as a computer technician. My hobbies include gaming, reading, watching anime, trolling idiots on social media, and playing Dungeons and Dragons. I live alone in a three-bedroom house, and my sister sometimes stays with me. The last thing I remember is going to bed after a long day at work.
Well, that appears to be in order, it seems like I have not lost any of my memories. How did I end up as a Riolu though? Did I die? It is possible but unlikely. I have definitely been Isekaied. Reincarnation is the most common way stories like this start and the second most common is being summoned by a legendary. Yet I doubt it is the latter as I don't remember anything like that. I can't really think of any others.
Well, I should move on. Am I in a world with humans or just Pokemon? That will affect my possible choices greatly, I have no intention of being someone's plaything. Given the size of all this stuff, I would have to guess I am stuck in a world with humans. Not like I have the best frame of reference, I don't even know exactly how tall I am. Too bad I am not in a world with just Pokemon it would be nice, they might actually be different to us humans we don't exactly have the best track record.
I start to peel off some of the bandages to get a better look at my body. There are a few patches of missing fur, revealing black skin. Similar to some breeds of dog. Thankfully there are no major scars or open wounds, that could have ruined my chances of being good-looking in the future. It looks like they have healed fully. That is until I get to the bandage on my left arm. There is a larger scab running down my arm, with stitches holding it together. It hurts a bit as I start to remove the bandage, so I decide to leave it on and redo it.
Doing another look around the room, I see two bags under the desk I was on. One is small enough for me to carry, while the other is much larger and probably meant for an adult human. The smaller bag has some burn marks on it, while the larger one is missing a strap and has a hole in the side of it. The larger bag is mostly empty, with just a few Pokeballs, potions, and female clothing inside. The smaller bag, on the other hand, contains some winter clothes that would fit me, some baby toys, dried food, and of course diapers. It looks like this is my bag.
Suddenly, I notice a sixth sense and feel a sense of happiness coming from outside. I look out the window and see a Nidorina walking on the pavement with a human, who I assume is their trainer. Not sure which one the sensations are coming from though. It looks like I am in the suburbs, with houses and a tall black tower in the distance.
That's right. Riolus are known as the Empathy Pokemon, that must be what I am sensing. It would be annoying if I was in a large crowd, I wonder if I would feel overwhelmed? I guess I could try a few things I read in fanfictions, one of them might work?
Sitting down, I try to calm myself. I want to be able to feel others' emotions, but not have them affect me. It would be nice, given I can't read social cues to save my life. How did it go again, imagine a box and put your emotions into it then close the box. Focusing for a moment, I feel something click in my head. I hope that just wasn't my imagination, that was surprisingly easy. Instincts kicking in perhaps?
So let's try to extend how far I can feel others' emotions. If it continues to affect me then I know it didn't work. This is much harder than the last thing I tried, it takes a good 10ish minutes, I think to figure it out. The black things on the side of my head are moving a bit, as I feel energy flow to them. Flowing from all over my body and gathering in those things, it was the weirdest sensation. I can feel a few more people now instead of just the two. Not sure how many there are, it feels fuzzy, at least they don't appear to be affecting my emotions.
Let's try focusing on one of the ones closer to me. Are they in the same house as me? As I focus on them, then I feel a tingle in the back of my mind. I recoil from the contact, stopping whatever was causing it. I can sense them coming closer to me, what should I do?
