Okay, on a sidenote, I know it's been a while since I last updated, but I've been busy these last few months, but I finally finished school and graduated a few days ago, so now I am on my summer vacation. I do get a lot of requests, and most of them are good. Have some ideas myself but will focus on my current ones for now.
Back to the story, last chapter saw Gus start his new training method, and how he's slowly getting affected by the explosion, by essentially becoming more confident and maybe gaining some popularity along the way.
Well, we finally reached T. J's chapter. How he will react to Mikey and Gretchen's subtle changes
Now, onto the chapter
Chapter 9: T.J – first weekend
Everybody else had left Kelso's, stating that they had somewhere else to be, leaving T.J alone at the booth. They were all acting so weird today. Vince was talking about joining the debate team, Mikey suddenly interested in football and wrestling, Gretchen taking candy without paying for it, and Gus suddenly interested in sports. But it was Spinelli suddenly being interested in cheerleading and agreeing with her mom, wanting to be nicer to the Ashleys, her mortal enemies. He was sitting in his own thoughts when somebody else walked in, and up to his booth, interrupting his thoughts. That person just so happens to be Lawson and his gang of football buddies from the 10th grade.
"Beat it Detweiler. We need a booth, and this is the only one free." Lawson said. Lawson and T.J had had a rivalry since elementary school, and it hadn't gotten any better over the years.
"I'm sitting here, so you'll just have to sit on the counter." T.J snarked back. He never liked Lawson, and Lawson never liked him. He felt sorry for any girl that would wound up dating him, unless it was one of the Ashleys'. Somehow, any one of them would be just perfect for Lawson. Not that he would know about dating. Dating was for adults, as was working, and he wasn't an adult. He was a kid. A 14-year-old kid, but a kid, nonetheless.
The guys that came with Lawson didn't care, so they sat in the booth, and ended up pushing T.J out, forcing T.J to leave after paying for it. He did, however, see the 'help' sign on the door, and thought about maybe working at Kelso's, but wasn't going to tell his parents. He didn't want them to know that he was going to cave on their demand.
He decided to go home to read some comic books, since it wasn't any fun being at Kelso's without his friends anyway. On the way home, he couldn't help but circle back to what his friends were talking about earlier. All of them seem to thinking of change, and he didn't want anything to change. He liked how things were, and if only they could stay the same.
During dinner, his parents continued to bug him about either getting a job or joining an extracurricular activity, which later turned into them bugging him about his grades. Stating that he needed to get his grades up, otherwise, he would be grounded.
After dinner, he went up to his room to read some comic books and think. He eventually decided to not think about what had happened earlier with his friends and figured that it was just a flux, and that everything would be the same on Monday. He then went on to read some comic books and figured that he was in dire need of some new ones, especially the ones with senior senior fusion.
The next day, he met up with Mikey and Gretchen, and had to look again due to Gretchen's new look.
He then proceeded to ask her. ". "Hey Gretchen, what's with the clothes. It's different from you usually wear." He was honestly confused about why she would suddenly wear different clothes. Sure, it looked more comfortable, but Gretchen was usually all about order and keeping things tight and neatly
"I just decided to wear something different. No biggie." He had certainly made her annoyed, which wasn't his intention. He just wanted to know why she would suddenly dress differently from her usual outfits.
"Okay. Sorry I asked. Anyway, should we go look at some comic books." He then ended up dropping the subject, because he wanted them to have fun while looking at comics, even though he wasn't completely satisfied with the answer. He just hadn't expected her to snap at him like that.
"Sure, but uhm T.J. I have to meet someone for lunch." Mikey said.
"Wait who do you have to meet for lunch." T.J asked.
"Just some guys from the football team."
"Wait, why would you meet with some guys from the football team. Since when are you friends with the football team." Now he was getting confused. Mikey wasn't friends with the guys from the football team. Mikey was all about the drama club and poetry. Not football and sports.
"Because I ran into some of them yesterday, and they invited me to hang out today. It'll just make sense for me to hang out with them if I join the team." He was getting annoyed that Mikey was going to ditch him and Gretchen for the football team. Plus, Mikey wanting to join the football team was weird, even if he had talked about it.
"Okay fine. Guess Gretchen and I will hang out without you until lunch." Well at least he still had Gretchen to hang out with, until she said. "I'm sorry T.J, but after lunch I have a doctor's appointment." ¨
"Again. Didn't you have one yesterday." T.J asked. Two doctor's appointments in one weekend. That was beyond weird.
"Yes, but my parents agreed to let me get laser eye surgery, so at least one of them needs to come with me to talk to the doctor. There's always tomorrow and the entire week until Friday."
"Okay fine. I guess we can hang out until lunch. Okay, so let's go find the comic bookstore, and look at some comics."
They still went to a comic bookstore, to check out some comics, until it was time for lunch, where Mikey was the first one to leave, leaving T.J and Gretchen alone in the comic bookstore, and where they each looked at some comics. T.J had found a comic book, and went to go tell Gretchen about it, until he saw her take one of the comics, and stuffed it inside her t-shirt, not realizing that he had just seen her.
Just as he was going to confront her, she told him that she had plans with her parents and left. So, he would have to confront her tomorrow at school. Hopefully everything and everyone would be back to normal tomorrow.
Next chapter: Spinelli's week and cheerleading try out.
So, we finally reached T. J's chapter, and it was hard at first, to write from his perspective, but I managed to figure it out,
Oh, and please R/R and let me know what you think.
I do not own recess or its characters.
