Savanna Pov
I was at dinner with my friends and got a call from Ming about Miriam. She was having a sleepover with Mei. My heart skipped a few beats before answering. I was worried she had another seizure. Ming told me what happened and I frowned. Miriam had a terrible fall from her wheelchair, cut her lip open, and hurt her wrist. I could hear Miriam crying in the background. I unfortunately just started eating and could not get her right away and had to tell Ming to call an ambulance. I quickly finished my meal so I could pay and be with her. Once I paid I got our new wheelchair van we got the week before and quickly called Ming and told her I would be at the hospital soon.
When I got to the Hospital I greeted Ming and walked into her hospital room. My heart sunk as deep as a diving ring. I gave her a huge hug. She immediately asked for Tobias and I called my parents to watch the younger kids so he could be with her. After I got off the phone with him I took a look at Miriam's wrist and lip and sighed. Her Wrist was as big as a baseball and her lip had a dime size gash.
After waiting to hear from the doctor about Miriam's Wrist resetting, six stitches in her lip, and setting a date for surgery to put pins in her wrist. We finally got to go home. I loaded Miriam in the car and drove back home
We got back home at 9:30 PM. Miriam was exhausted from crying so hard for so long. I made her change her Pajamas and take a shower. She fought me because I took away her blanket. Her Blanket is very special to her because she got it in the hospital while recovering from her Spinal cord injury and she feels like it was meant for her with the skateboards on it. However, I had no choice but to wash it as it got blood on it. I threw her blanket in the wash and started the washer. I then headed up to Miriam's Bathroom and helped her get undressed and wrapped her splint so it didn't get wet in the shower. She started crying again. "I'm so sorry Miriam did I hurt you". I asked. She shook her head. "I just want my blanket back". She sobbed. "Miriam, it just needs to be washed, you didn't get it taken away." "I will give it to you once it's done" I stated. "When will it be done?" She wondered. "I'm not sure Miriam" I sighed. Her lip quivered and I then helped her into her shower chair. I started her shower and washed her hair. The shower took about 20 minutes in total. I then helped her put new pj's on and brushed her teeth. I pushed her wheelchair to my room, grabbed a brush, and gently brushed through her hair. I laid her on the sick bed we have close to our bed for when our kids are sick and told her to close her eyes. She refused to go to sleep without her blanket. I took a deep breath and respected her wishes. The blanket only had 10 more minutes in the dryer anyway. Once the blanket was ready I gave it to her and she went to sleep.
The night was very long, full of several insulin pump failures and changes. Miriam started to throw up at midnight and kept throwing up every hour. We both barely got any sleep.
I got a text from Ming asking how Miriam was doing. I told her everything about our rough night last night and told her Miriam was resting. Ming gave Miriam her well wishes. I thanked her for checking up on Miriam and for her good wishes. I'm glad Miriam has a good support system.
