Title: A Small Surprise
Time-line: Post BOBF Chapter 7, sometime before Boba and Fennec get married.
Summary: It's a surprise, and I'm also to lazy to think of a good summary.
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.
"Thanks for babysitting on such short notice." Din said, handing Grogu to Boba. "Of course." Boba said. Din turned to Fennec, "Ready to go?" he asked. "Go where?" Boba inquired. "Din asked me to help him with the bounty he's after." Fennec explained, then she and Din left the room. The last thing Boba heard was Fennec saying to Din, "This is so exciting." Boba sighed, "Come on Grogu, we'll go upstairs and I'll put some cartoons on for you."
Boba paced around his bedroom, then he peered out the window, watching Din and Fennec zooming away on speeder bikes. "There she goes, off to pursue adventure. And why wouldn't she? All the action is over, the town is safe, she doesn't owe me anything. I can't just expect her to settle down here and do nothing. They'll go off on adventures and I'll be stuck here babysitting," Boba said, then turned to Grogu, he added, "No offense kid, you're adorable." Grogu cooed innocently as he turned from the cartoons he was watching, to Boba. Boba sighed and sat down next to Grogu. There was strange twisty feeling in his stomach, the more he thought about Fennec going off adventuring with Din, the stronger the feeling became. Grogu laid a tiny hand on Boba's arm and looked up at him curiously. Boba sighed, "Come on," he said, picking Grogu up, "Let's go see the rancor."
After about two hours with the rancor, Boba decided to take Grogu up to the throne room. The room was dark and silent. Suddenly, the lights turned on. "Surprise!" a chorus of voices shouted, or growled, in Santo's case. There was a table set with a feast of food, including a cake. Fennec, Din, Santo, the Mods, the rancor trainer, and 8D8 all stood around the table. "Happy birthday, boss." Drash said. "Thank you, but I'm confused," Boba said, "How did you know today is birthday, and how did you set this up without me noticing?" All eyes turned to Fennec. She shrugged casually, "It was easy. You were distracted watching the kid, which gave us just enough time to set up." she explained. "But what about the bounty Din asked you to help him with?" Boba asked. "Oh, that was just a ruse," Fennec stated, "I actually needed his help." "With what?" Boba asked skeptically. "With this," she said, handing him small-ish wrapped box with a bow on top, "I had to travel to Mos Eisley to get it, and with some of the tusken tribes trying to expand their territories, I thought it might be a good idea to have backup." Boba opened the gift, it was snow globe...well not exactly a snow globe. There were two banthas with tusken raiders riding atop them, and instead of fake snow, there was sand. It was a perfect little reminder of the tribe, and his bantha. "Mos Eisley may be a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but there's some interesting stuff there...if you know where to look." Fennec added. "Thank you," Boba said, "But you still haven't explained how you know today is my birthday." Fennec simply smirked, then turned to address the group, "Let's eat." she said.
Later, Boba stood out on the balcony with Fennec. "I must admit, I feel a bit foolish." he said. "Why's that?" Fennec asked. "Because I thought you were going to leave Tatooine and go off adventuring with Din. After all, you are a master assassin, and things aren't very exciting on Tatooine right now." Boba explained. "Hey," Fennec said, grabbing his hand, "I'm not going anywhere." "Good." Boba said. Fennec's eyes searched his for a moment, "Were you...jealous?" she asked, a hint of amusement in her voice. Boba scoffed, "Of course not." Fennec smirked, "You were! You were jealous because you thought I was going to go off with Din." she proclaimed. "Alright," Boba conceded, "Maybe I was a little jealous." He pulled Fennec in for a kiss, "How did you know today was my birthday?" he asked when they broke apart. There was a small gleam in Fennec's eyes as she answered, "I have skills you don't know about."
A/N: PrincessLD, as you can see, I decided to combine two of your prompts into one short story. I hope you liked it. Honestly, my brain has been all over the place and life has been a little hectic. Kondoru, in answer to your question of how I find the time for all my life goals, there is a very simple answer. I haven't yet. I have started my acting lessons, so there is that. Now, pronker, I'm so glad that you're enjoying this story. Anyway, as always, suggestions are welcome and appreciated but please keep them in the K or K plus rating. I apologize for any grammar mistakes. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed. See you next chapter.
